AFTER THE SONS DOCTORS APPOINTMENT THE CAR WAS INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC WHO HAS OVER 25 YEARS AUTOMOTIVE EXPERIENCE AND AN ASSOCIATES DEGREE IN AUTOMOTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WITH THE ENGINE BEING AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE FROM BEING DRIVEN TO THE LOCATION AND THE ENGINE BAY WAS VISUALY INSPECTED WITH THE ENGINE OFF WITH NO SIGNS OF FUEL LEAKAGE. BEING SAFETY CONSCIOUS, THE MECHANIC OBTAINED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND WATER HOSE INCASE OF A FIRE. THE MECHANIC THEN TURNED ON THE ENGINE AND NOTICED A SMALL LEAK AT THE FUEL DAMPER. HE PROCEEDED TO REMOVE THE TOP PLASTIC COVER OF THE DAMPER WHICH LED TO FUEL SPRAY WITH FORCE ENOUGH TO SPRAY ON THE MECHANIC WHO WAS LOCATED AT THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. A FRIEND WHO WAS WITH THE MECHANIC QUICKLY TURNED OFF THE ENGINE WHILE THE MECHANIC QUICKLY DOUSED THE FLAMES PREVENTING DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. UPON RESEARCH, THIS FUEL DAMPER WAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM MOST CAMRYS OF THIS GENERATION. THE DAMPER DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TOYOTA PART NUMBERS AND SEEMED SUSPICIOUS. FURTHER RESEARCH FOUND THAT THIS UNBRANDED FUEL DAMPER WAS FOR CA EMMISIONS STANDARDS WHILE ANOTHER STYLE WAS FOR FEDERAL STANDARDS. OTHER CAMRYS THAT WERE MADE FOR CA DID NOT USE THE STYLE FUEL DAMPER AS MY CAMRYS. IT SEEMS LIKE TOYOTA BOUGHT AFTERMARKET DAMPERS AND INSTALLED THEM ON AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF VEHICLES.I THINK THEY RAN OUT OF OEM DAMPERS

This is actually my third Camry and I must say I'm a bit disappointed with the new 5-speed auto transmission. It seems to shift constantly and gets confused about which gear to shift into when accelerating from a turn. If this keeps up, I'm not sure I'll be getting a fourth one.

So far I am really enjoying this car! It's strong, solid, and fun to drive. I even received a compliment today from someone driving a new Mercedes SL500. That really says something about the fine appearance of this car! I have driven an E-class before, and the smoothness and handling of this car is right up there with it. I am just hoping the gas mileage improves as the car breaks in. 17 mpg is tough on the pocket book. But even if it doesn't, I will still love it.

This is the first Toyota my wife and I have owned. We are looking forward to many trouble-free years with it, based on the positive reviews we have read. Unfortunately, we had to have the fuel system replaced after only a year, and just last week the steering shaft had to be replaced due to a defect. Despite these issues, we are hopeful that our Toyota will continue to serve us well.

The V6 Camry is a great car to drive. I've been driving it for almost 4 years and I'm very happy with it. The fuel economy is decent, so I can't complain. I gave the performance a 5 because there is a slight delay when pressing the gas a bit too much, which can be somewhat annoying even with calm acceleration.

I can tell you really enjoy driving your Camry! It sounds like a fantastic car. I noticed you recently replaced the tires with Michelin X radials, which has made the ride even smoother and quieter. It's great to hear that the sound system is perfect and that you're getting good gas mileage from it.

Despite the dealership's initial suggestion that I was at fault for the transmission issue, I am confident that these problems are not a result of my driving habits. Hello! I wanted to share some information with you regarding the Toyota Camry. If you happen to own a 2004 or 2005 model, you may want to take note of a potential issue with the throttle body assembly. This part was initially designed with a fault and later redesigned. Toyota released a technical service bulletin (reference number EG023-05) to address this issue. Unfortunately, my own experience with this part has not been great. On my 2004 Toyota Camry XLE, I had to replace the throttle body assembly with motor on 08-06-2007. Then, on 09-09-2009, the part failed again and my wife had to walk an extended distance. When we approached Toyota, they refused to repair the faulty part for less than $1100.66. Despite their excuses, we felt that Toyota did not stand behind their product. This car is great in every aspect except for the 5-speed automatic transmission. The transmission seems to struggle with gear selection and is constantly shifting. Additionally, the drive-by-wire throttle, when combined with the transmission, causes hesitation when acceleration is needed most. According to Toyota, hesitation is the driver's responsibility, and they suggest that the accelerator pedal should not be floored or pressed too quickly, as this may cause hesitation. Toyota has not yet confirmed whether they will address this issue in the future, but for now, they consider hesitation to be normal for this design.

This vehicle has not lived up to its reputation. Despite being under warranty, it has required seven separate repairs at the dealership. The time I have spent waiting for these repairs has been excessive and inconvenient. Despite my requests, the dealer has not been willing to make any accommodations for me, such as arranging appointments or providing a loaner vehicle. As a result, I have lost faith in Toyota products and will not be purchasing from them again.

I purchased this car from my brother-in-law three years ago, and both he and I have taken great care of it. We have followed all maintenance requirements and have made necessary repairs, such as replacing the sagging headliner and rear speaker covers. We have also added new tires, brakes, alternator, battery, and have frequently changed the oil and flushed the transmission. The car ran great for three years until my son and I noticed a sloshing sound behind the dash in 2015. We discovered that the coolant in the reservoir was low, even though we checked it regularly. We filled it and took it to a mechanic who initially thought it was the stripped head bolt problem. Unfortunately, the coolant was leaking into the engine and caused a cracked head. The mechanic stated that the engine was poorly designed and that it was not my fault. He advised against replacing the engine, as it would be another defective design. Although the gas mileage was good, the interior quality was not up to par, with flannel cloth doors and cheap materials. Overall, it was a disappointing experience for a car that had been so well maintained. I would not recommend purchasing this car.
