Also, I discovered there had been a recall or campaign for the 2007-2011 Camry. It had also been extended until 2019. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION NOR HAD MY MOTHER OR I WOULD HAVE ALREADY LOOKED INTO THE MATTER EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T HAVE THE PROBLEM UNTIL NOW!!!!! I was told by the dealer to call corporate. I did not get a notice of recall notice of Toyota's resolution to the problem, because they had the wrong apartment number and email address which I was told by Rep. Sherry and Rose at Toyota Corporation. Rep. said she was sending information to higher up at the corporation instead she sending it to the dealership. I did not get notice of a class action suit/resolution, trotter body, or melting dashboard. I have paid at least $6-7 thousand to dealerships workmanship is bad. I need help!! Because I did not get notices Toyota should fix and compensate me for repairs. Also, they replaced my hold break system because they assumed the shrieking noise was the break. This was done without my permission. I had to replace the axle they replaced less than a year ago. I am frustrated. I can not pay out any more money. Especially vehicles like pickup trucks that have headlights mounted at about the same height as my windshield and rear window. These vehicles headlights are so bright that they hit all my mirrors and blind me at night from behind. In addition many newer vehicles with "modern style" extra bright and auto dimming headlights as oncoming traffic also blind me to the point where I cannot safely see the road ahead.   • Summary: We (my wife and I) were driving our vehicle Sunday November 5th 2023 in the morning and experienced a serious issue. While on the highway, the car was stuck with the gas petal in the down position (we did not realize this until after we were able to successfully power down the car) and continued to accelerate in an uncontrolled manner. We were fortunate that our breaks were able to stop the car, and we navigated it to the shoulder of the highway. We then put the car in park, all while the engine was full throttled. We powered down the car and removed the keys. We waited a few moments and tried to power the car again - the engine however remained full throttled. We turned the vehicle off once again and then realized the gas petal was stuck in the down position. We were able to manually get the petal unstuck at this time. We have not driven the vehicle since this incident and consider it too dangerous to do so. Since this incident, we have looked up any potential recalls for this issue and have not found any. To answer the questions above: The gas petal/acceleration malfunctioned. The safety of everyone in the vehicle and other drivers on the road were at significant risk. The vehicle has not been driven since, and the issue has not been reproduced. No recalls were found for this VIN. The vehicle has not been inspected since the incident, but otherwise has passed inspection in our state. There were no warning lamps or messages on the vehicle before or after the incident. We believe the manufacturer is responsible for addressing the issue, even though there is not a recall for this particular problem. This is a known issue by the manufacturer, as they have released many recalls for similar models/years and have even created a video on youtube to instruct drivers how to address this issue, if it happens, while driving.

I was driving my car, heard a loud noise and the steering went, the brakes went, nothing worked and than the car shut down and stopped. I brought it to my mechanic, and there was no oil in the car and they went through the whole engine and there was no leaks. The accident resulted in damage to the doors and to the frame of the car. I suffered neck and head injury due to the accident. The side curtain air bag did NOT deploy. The car was inspected by the owner/manager of the auto body repair shop and it was his opinion that given the severity of the accident that the air bag should have deployed. Due to the frame damage and other damage the car is considered by the insurance company to be a total loss.

  • Summary: The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle started shuddering. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure persisted upon restarting the vehicle. The oil pressure warning light was illuminated. The contact checked the oil level and noticed that there was no oil in the engine. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the pistons were locked and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that they could not assist because the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was 104,000.

  • Components: VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS
  • Summary: Toyota Motor Company (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 Tundra, Sequoia, Corolla, Corolla Matrix and Scion xB, 2008-2011 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid, 2007 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2009 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2006-2011 RAV4, 2006-2010 Yaris, and 2009-2010 Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles. During the manufacturing of the Power Window Master Switch (PWMS), grease lubricant may have been inconsistently applied to the sliding electrical contacts.
  • Consequence: If the sliding electrical contacts are not protected by lubricant, debris and moisture that get into the switch may cause a short circuit and the switch assembly may overheat and melt, increasing the risk of a fire.
  • Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the switch, applying a lubricant if no abnormality is found. If abnormality is found, the PWMS circuit board will be replaced, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 20, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.   • Summary: Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain models interspersed through model years 2009 through 2013 as follows: model year 2009-2012 Tacoma, 4Runner, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Prius, and RAV4; model year 2009-2010 Avalon, FJ Cruiser, and Highlander Hybrid; model year 2010-2013 model year Corolla, Sienna and Tundra; model year 2009-2013 Highlander and Venza; model year 2012 Prius V; and model year 2010-2012 Sequoia. During modification by SET to include accessories such as leather seat covers, seat heaters or headrest DVD systems, these vehicles may not have had the passenger seat occupant sensing system calibration tested. Without passing the calibration test, the occupant sensing system may not operate as designed.
  • Consequence: If the front passenger seat occupant sensing system is out of calibration, the front passenger airbags may not deploy or they may deploy inappropriately for the passenger's size and position. This could increase the risk of personal injury during the event of a vehicle crash necessitating airbag deployment.
  • Remedy: Southeast Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will test the sensitivity of the occupant detection sensors, and recalibrate them as necessary. The recall began on March 21, 2013. Owners may contact Southeast Toyota at 1-800-301-6859.

  • Summary: Toyota is recalling certain model year 2007-2009 Camry, Camry Hybrid, RAV4, Corolla, Corolla Matrix, Tundra, Sequoia, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Yaris, Scion xB, Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles. The power window master switch assemblies in some of these vehicles were built using a less precise process for lubricating the internal components of the switch assemblies. Irregularities in this lubrication process may cause the power window master switch assemblies to malfunction and overheat.
  • Consequence: If the switch overheats, it may melt, possibly resulting in a fire.
  • Remedy: Toyota will notify its owners, and dealers will inspect the switch and apply a special grease that inhibits heat build up or replace any switch damaged by the defect, free of charge. Toyota owners that experience a problem with a switch should not attempt to make repairs, but should contact their Toyota dealer or the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-800-331-4331. General Motors will contact the Pontiac Vibe owners affected by this recall and GM dealers will inspect and repair switches as necessary. Those owners may contact Pontiac Customer Care at 1-800-762-2737.

THESE CHANGES ADDRESS THE RISK OF PEDAL ENTRAPMENT DUE TO INTERFERENCE WITH THE FLOOR MAT. REDESIGNED ACCELERATOR PEDALS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE BEGINNING IN APRIL 2010 AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY MODIFIED PEDAL WITH THE NEW PEDAL IF DESIRED. ALSO, DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY GENUINE TOYOTA OR LEXUS ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MATS WITH REDESIGNED ALL-WEATHER MATS, OR REPURCHASE THE PREVIOUS MATS FROM OWNERS WHO DO NOT WANT THE NEW ONES.     The car is really comfortable and fun to drive. I was considering a Prius, but this one has more features and if I'm careful, I can get between 35 and 40 mpg. I absolutely love the navigation and Bluetooth. As soon as I started driving the car, I knew I had to have it over the Prius, even though I really liked the Prius too. This car just feels more comfortable to me and I can have it all this way. The gas mileage isn't quite as good as the Prius, but it's still very good and great for the environment. I also love all of the controls on the steering wheel. To get the best gas mileage, it's recommended to use cruise control when possible.

    I saw her, a beautiful black/bisque leather TCH among a sea of new dealership arrivals. I was considering the Prius, but I just couldn't get on board with the 'egg with suspenders' look. After one look and drive of the TCH, I was completely captivated. The technology is simply amazing! I still have much to learn about the science (and art) of hypermiling, but so far, I can't help but grin from ear to ear every time I get behind the wheel of this gem. The ride is comfortable, smooth, and quiet, and the techno gadgets are mind-blowing (Bluetooth, navigation, energy monitoring capability, audiophile JBL system, etc.). The legendary Toyota reliability and fit/finish are just the cherry on top. I wholeheartedly recommend this outstanding vehicle!

    I was initially determined to dislike this car, but I quickly realized its necessity. I had been considering hybrids for four years, but was disappointed by the lack of creature comforts, such as a sunroof, and stylish design. At first, I thought I wanted another luxury car (I had an Infiniti G35), but living in Hawaii where gas prices can reach $5 per gallon, I couldn't justify working just to drive a symbol. On the first day, I wasn't impressed (it seemed like a mom car, and I am the complete opposite), and the gas mileage was awful (less than 20 mpg). I was upset and thought I had made an expensive mistake. However, after giving it a week, I fell in love with it. It's smooth, spacious, luxurious, zippy, and a conversation starter. I now average 37.2 miles per gallon and can go up to 99.9 miles per tank (yes, 99, downhill).
