2013 Suzuki Sx4 problems
The Suzuki SX4 is a subcompact car and crossover produced by Japanese automaker Suzuki since 2006. A successor of the Aerio tall hatchback and sedan, the first-generation model was available as a hatchback and sedan, with the former available in both front- and four-wheel drive and as a rebadged version in Europe called the Fiat Sedici.
In 2013, the second generation was launched, called Suzuki SX4 S-Cross (or Suzuki S-Cross in India)— now exclusively a subcompact crossover SUV. The first- and second-generation SX4s sold alongside one another until 2014. The SX4 sedan was replaced with the Suzuki Ciaz. The third-generation model was introduced in 2021 as a heavily modified version of the previous model and was only produced in Hungary for the European market. For the Indian market, the S-Cross was replaced by the taller Grand Vitara.
The SX4 is an abbreviation of "Sports X-over 4 Seasons". The SX4 designation was previously used by American Motors Corporation (AMC) from the 1981 through 1983 model years for a sporty liftback model in its line of all-wheel-drive AMC Eagle passenger cars. While the "S-Cross" suffix is an abbreviation of Smart Crossover.

Common 2013 Suzuki Sx4 problems
The Suzuki SX4, particularly the 2013 model, has several common problems that owners have reported. These issues range from engine and transmission problems to electrical and interior concerns.
One of the most prevalent engine problems is the rapid wear of stabilizer struts and bushings. A knocking and creaking sound may appear in the ball joint and silent blocks of the front levers, which typically last between 100,000 and 150,000 kilometers
. The design of the lever does not allow for the replacement of the ball joint silent blocks of the rear beam, which must be updated after 200,000 to 250,000 kilometers. Front and rear wheel bearings also tend to wear out, with the front ones lasting around 120,000 to 150,000 kilometers and the rear ones requiring replacement with the hub after the same distance
The steering system uses an electromechanical power steering with an electric motor on the steering column. After long runs, play in the steering rack guide bushings may occur, and the steering may become less precise. Additionally, the driver's seat and interior plastic, particularly in the first batches, may creak, which can be solved with a repair kit that increases the contact area at the attachment point
The Suzuki SX4's body is generally well protected from corrosion, but in older specimens, a rusty coating may appear on the chassis elements, muffler holders, and the rear beam after 150,000 kilometers. The generator often fails after the same distance, and poor quality gasoline can quickly disable the catalytic converter, leading to software malfunctions during the warranty period
The Suzuki SX4's continuously variable transmissions (CVT) are also known to run hot, entering a temperature protection control mode that slows the vehicle's speed and ability to accelerate. This is a fail-safe mode designed to prevent damage to the transmission, but it can be inconvenient for drivers.
In summary, the Suzuki SX4 2013 model has several common problems, including rapid wear of stabilizer struts and bushings, issues with the steering system, creaking driver's seat and interior plastic, potential corrosion, generator failures, and CVT temperature control mode. These issues can affect the vehicle's performance, safety, and overall longevity, and owners should be aware of them when considering purchasing or maintaining a Suzuki SX4.
Is a 2013 Suzuki SX4 reliable?
The 2013 Suzuki SX4 has a reliability score of 2.5 out of five from J.D. Power. That's considered below average among all vehicles on the road.
What year is the bad Suzuki SX4?
Summary: Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain model year 2006-2011 Grand Vitara and 2007-2011 SX4 vehicles. In the affected vehicles, over time, the OCS sensor mat installed in the front passenger seat may fail due to repeated flexing of the mat from use of the seat.
How long does a Suzuki SX4 engine last?
The estimated lifespan of a Suzuki Sx4 is 146,000mi, before reaching the life expectancy upper limit. Fuel type is a major factor when looking into a vehicles lifespan/life expectancy. Don't just buy it, VehicleScore it.
Why SX4 failed?
Let me summarize this: Stiff competition from rivals meant low sales for the SX4. Thirsty petrol engine, lack of features, less cabin space as compared to the City. The new Ciaz would be a modern car and would erase all shortcomings found in the SX4.

THEY WOULDN'T LET ME TALK TO A SUPERVISOR/MANAGER OR AN ENGINEER. I WANT THE SENOR CHANGED, IF THE WEIGHT RANGE CAN'T BE LOWERED. THEY NEED TO PUT IN A NEW SENSOR WITH LOWER STARTING WEIGHT FOR ENGAGING THE AIRBAG. THERE IS NO WAY I AM THE ONLY ONE IN THE US WHO IS EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. WHAT IF A CHILD, A TEENAGER OR A PREGNANT WOMAN SITS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IN A SUZUKI SX4? My family and I recently went car shopping to upgrade from our 2012 crossover hatchback LE with auto and manual shift option, AWD, and 4-wheel drive. However, we soon realized that we already owned the perfect vehicle for us. In Canada, there are no other compact cars available with AWD and 4x4 options. Although I am petite and fit the car wonderfully, I find the seats uncomfortable and struggle to drive or be a passenger for longer than 20 minutes. The climate control is also a bit of a letdown. Despite owning it since it was 3 years old, it has performed poorly since day 1. The oil filter's location is also a bit inconvenient. However, we have had no problems with mechanical issues or leaky rear differential seals, and regular maintenance has kept it running smoothly. While it may be a bit gutless with its 4 cylinders, the manual shift option is great for passing.

This car can be started with or without the key in the ignition. Despite the difficulty in finding a local dealer to work on the car, I have taken the initiative to research and find a reliable service center. While some dealerships may have lost their trained service people, I have found a reputable center that specializes in Suzuki vehicles. I reached out to the dealer I purchased the car from and they provided me with the correct instructions for the manual transmission. I am confident in my ability to navigate the features of the 2008 SX4 and appreciate the excellent visibility and ease of exiting the vehicle. This model is the perfect size for my family and I am pleased with my choice.

Hi there! This car is really comfortable to drive.

I don't usually write reviews, but I wanted to share my thoughts on this great car. I've been driving for around 14 years and have driven various types of cars in multiple cities and countries. After test driving multiple vehicles, including Hyundai, Honda, and Nissan, I ended up purchasing the Suzuki Sx4 Sedan. I've only had the car for 4 days, but I already love it. It's a manual drive and has all the features you need in a car, including 8 airbags. Most importantly, the car runs very smoothly and has impressive zip and energy. The sound system is also great. Overall, I'm very happy with the car. The current mileage is 30, but it should certainly improve after the first service.

We are proud owners of two 2011 Suzuki SX4 Crossovers, one with CVT and the other with a manual transmission. Both cars are reliable performers in both dry and inclement weather. We have personally driven both cars on several 600-mile trips and found them to be more comfortable than many full-size cars. We particularly appreciate the i4wd system, which allows for either 2wd or 4wd operation. Even in snow deeper than the rocker panels, we had no problem with traction, steering, or braking. Both cars are averaging well over 28 MPG in town, which is significantly higher than the EPA estimated mileage.

We experienced some challenges with our Suzuki vehicle after the dealership we purchased it from in Birmingham, Al closed. Unfortunately, when the car stopped running, we had to transport it to Huntsville, Al. Despite having some issues with the warranty, we remain confident in our Suzuki vehicle. While the receipts for oil changes were lost in a fire, we understand the importance of regular maintenance and will continue to take good care of our vehicle. We believe that Suzuki vehicles are a great choice for anyone in the market for a reliable car.

Hey there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with this car. In my opinion, it might be worth considering investing a bit more in a higher quality car. Personally, I've had some issues with this car, including needing to replace the brakes multiple times, the inner tie-rod, water pump, rear wheel assembly, 2 Catalytic Converters, and an O2 sensor. Additionally, I've never gotten better than 25 mpg. Just thought I'd share my thoughts with you!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share a story with you about my 2011 Suzuki Sx4. I bought it brand new in 2012 and overall, I've been really happy with it. However, I did notice a strange smell whenever I used the air conditioner or defrost. I reached out to my Suzuki dealer and they were really helpful. They had dealt with this issue before and thought it might be related to the vapor coming back into the vent. They ran the hose to a different area and said it should be fixed. Unfortunately, the next time I used the air conditioner, the smell was still there. I contacted Suzuki again and they did their best to help, but ultimately, we had to go to arbitration. Even though Suzuki said the car was working as designed, I still felt frustrated. Despite this experience, I still think Suzuki makes great cars and I would consider buying from them again in the future.

The car had some issues from the beginning, such as the CVT overheating and going into 2wd survival mode, and the brakes dragging. However, these were addressed by getting new disk brakes all around. After two years, the bearings started getting noisy, but they were replaced along with the brake shoes. The transmission also became noisy and the alternator had to be replaced three times. Unfortunately, the cowling directing ram air through the radiator into the throttle body became detached and overheated, but it was reconnected with duct tape. The alternator's location next to the front wheel made it vulnerable to street debris, and when the cowling became disconnected, the engine combined with the hot running transmission fried many electrical wires. Despite these issues, the car lasted for eleven years.
