2003 Audi S6 problems
The Audi S6 is the performance variant of the Audi A6, an executive car produced by German automaker Audi. It went on sale in 1994, shortly after the "A6" designation was introduced, replacing the "100" nameplate.
The original S6 was largely the same car as the outgoing, original Audi S4 (C4) (Ur-S4), with the only visible differences being new body-cladding and badging. In certain markets where the even-higher performance RS6 (which is also based on the A6) is not sold, the S6 is the most powerful A6 trim there.
The S6, like all Audi "S" models, is fitted as standard with Audi's trademark quattro four-wheel drive (4WD) system, the S6 using the Torsen-based permanent 4WD.

Common 2003 Audi S6 problems
Based on the complaints from owners of the 2003 Audi S6, several common problems have been reported:
- Coolant Temperature Sensor: In some cases, the starting and acceleration issues have been attributed to a faulty coolant temperature sensor. This sensor can cause starting difficulties, especially when the engine is hot, and impact the car's acceleration performance.
- Vacuum or Valve Malfunction: Another reported problem involves issues with the vacuum system or malfunctioning valves. Owners have noted that when the car starts well, acceleration is smooth, but when starting problems occur, acceleration is diminished. This suggests a potential issue with the vacuum system or valves not functioning correctly.
- Electrical System Malfunction: Some complaints have highlighted potential electrical system malfunctions that do not trigger warning lights on the dashboard. This can make diagnosing the issue challenging, requiring a mechanic to scan for error codes to identify the specific problem.
- Recalls: Additionally, there have been recalls related to the 2003 Audi S6, including issues with the airbags, engine and engine cooling system, fuel gauge sensor, and back over prevention display function. These recalls address various safety and performance concerns that owners should be aware of and have addressed by authorized dealers to ensure the vehicle's proper functioning and safety.

It's such a shame that Audi no longer produces this. How disappointing!

This vehicle has been an absolute pleasure to own. It has exceeded my expectations in every way. I use the car for business travel, often covering long distances of up to 800 miles per day, and it has never let me down. Even in the harshest winter conditions, with the help of Nokian snow tires, the S6 Avant has proven to be unstoppable in snow, ice, rain, and mud. The performance is also impressive, as demonstrated by my 1:06 flat lap time at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut during a BMWCCA event, all while carrying a student in the passenger seat. Overall, this is the perfect wagon for anyone looking for a stylish, reliable, and high-performing vehicle.

This car is really great! It looks amazing, handles like a dream, and has the best interior I have ever seen. You should definitely consider getting this wagon. It drives like a car, yet has the hauling capacity of a wagon! It's a perfect combination! Although it's not very common on the road, which I think is a good thing, it deserves more recognition!

I have been searching for five years to find the ultimate combination of performance, practicality, luxury, and understated styling. This car has it all. While the RS6 is a strong competitor, this car still has plenty of power and excellent handling that always puts a smile on my face. Plus, have you ever tried fitting a few kids and dogs with their gear into your sedan for a road trip? And where do you live that you can really push your double turbo Porsche to its limits without getting in trouble with the law?

I bought the beautiful wagon for my wife's birthday after owning 6 Volvos. Recently, I purchased a second S6 because it's comfortable, classy, very fast, and fun like Nascar. It's just plain sweet meat; a treat for the feet and you won't get beat in the real racing seat. According to my wife, it's the best car we've ever had. It's also very reliable. When you press the pedal on the way to school, it will absolutely blow your kids' hair and minds, but the cops might think you're driving a cute wagon! Ha! Yeah, right! With 340hp, it's like getting a buzz at 07:30 am without needing Starbucks.

The car is really fun to drive, but unfortunately, the front seats do not have the adjustable thigh bolster that the manual shows and there is very little thigh support. It's a shame that some Audi dealers do not provide the full information when you buy the car, which can be frustrating. However, there are many great competing products on the market to consider. We hope that Audi dealers can improve their customer service in the future. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

I have driven this car for 3000 miles and I am disappointed. Despite its admirable features, it does not display enough power or style differences over other models to justify the extra cost. However, I am confident that I will be able to sell this vehicle.
