Common 2013 Scion Tc problems
The Scion tC is a sporty, two-door compact sedan that has been known for its reliability, thanks to its power, roomy hatchback area, and improved suspension and handling, among others. However, like any vehicle, the Scion tC has its own set of common problems that owners have reported.
One of the most common issues reported by Scion tC owners is clutch failure. This issue is more prevalent in manual transmission models, where the clutch can fail prematurely, leading to difficulty in shifting gears or even complete transmission failure. The cause of this issue is not explicitly stated in the search results, but it is recommended that owners of manual transmission Scion tCs have their clutch system checked regularly to avoid any potential issues.
Another common problem reported by Scion tC owners is water pump seal failure. This issue can lead to coolant leaks and overheating, which can cause significant damage to the engine if not addressed promptly. The water pump seal is a small but critical component of the vehicle's cooling system, and its failure can lead to significant repair costs.
Excessive oil consumption is another issue reported by Scion tC owners. This problem can lead to increased engine wear and tear, as well as reduced performance and fuel efficiency. The cause of this issue is not explicitly stated in the search results, but it is recommended that owners of Scion tCs check their oil levels regularly and address any excessive oil consumption issues promptly.
Head gasket failure is another common problem reported by Scion tC owners. This issue can lead to overheating, white smoke from the exhaust, and rough engine performance. The head gasket is a critical component of the engine, and its failure can lead to significant engine damage if not addressed promptly.
The search results also mention other common problems, such as sunroof shuttering, valve cover gasket oil leaks, clutch release bearing noise, mass airflow sensor malfunction, CV boot cracking, blowing motor failure, catalytic converter failure, manual transmission grinding noises, front brake recall, and TPMS sensor malfunction
In summary, the Scion tC is a reliable vehicle, but it is not without its common problems. Clutch failure, water pump seal failure, excessive oil consumption, and head gasket failure are some of the most common issues reported by Scion tC owners. It is recommended that owners of Scion tCs have their vehicles checked regularly to avoid any potential issues and to address any issues promptly to avoid more significant repair costs.

- Summary: A FEW DAYS AGO, WE WERE DRIVING WHEN OUR SUN ROOF EXPLODED. WE HEARD THE LOUDEST BANG I HAVE HEARD AND THEN GLASS STARTED FALLING THROUGH THE EDGES OF THE SUN SHADE THAT WAS CLOSED. HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR THE SUN SHADE, I AM SURE WE WOULD HAVE BEEN SHOWERED WITH GLASS SHARDS, AND THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT WE WOULD HAVE WRECKED THE CAR. WHEN WE PULLED OVER THE MOON ROOF WAS OBVIOUSLY BLOWN OUTWARD, WHICH I HAVE PICTURES OF. AFTER A BRIEF RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THIS ISSUE WAS A COMMON ONE. WHEN MY WIFE CALLED TOYOTA THE FIRST GUY SAID HE HAD SEEN THIS BEFORE, BUT TOYOTA WOULD NOT COVER IT UNDER THE EXTRA BUMP TO BUMPER WARRANTY, WE BOUGHT. TOYOTA REFERRED ME TO THE TOLL FREE NUMBER (1-800-331-4331) TO LODGE A COMPLAINT AND SEE IF THEY COULD DO ANYTHING. TOYOTA GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER (1507133039) AND SAID SOMEONE FROM CUSTOMER RELATIONS WOULD BE CALLING ME BACK. THE GUY THAT CALLED ME BACK WAS DENNIS KING FROM THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN RIVERDALE, UTAH WHERE WE FIRST CALLED, AND HE SAID HE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING THAT IT WOULD HAVE TO BE TOYOTA THAT AUTHORIZES ANY REPAIR. I HAVE INCLUDED JUST A FEW OF THE WEB LINKS THAT DISCUSS THE ISSUE OF EXPLODING MOON ROOFS. - Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
- Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain Toyota Racing Development (TRD) brake kits, part numbers PTR09-21111 and PTR09-52080, sold by Toyota as an optional accessory for model year 2008-2015 Scion xB, and 2011-2016 Scion tC vehicles. - Remedy: Toyota will notify all known owners of the Scion xB and Scion tC vehicles upon which an involved optional TRD Brake Kit could have been installed. If the vehicle is equipped with one of the TRD brake kits, it will be replaced with a standard equipment brake kit, free of charge. The recall began November 16, 2018. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371. Toyota's number for this recall is J0U.

I took several trips in this car. You'll love the way it handles curves and turns on a dime. It also has some pep that you'll really admire.

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your new tC! It sounds like it's a great fit for you and your wife's lifestyle, especially for your road trips and skiing adventures. The handling and ride seem to be very good, and the brakes are superb. It's great to hear that you appreciate the new style for its looks and practicality, and that you've received compliments on the car's attractive lines and roomy interior. Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us!

This is a fantastic little car! I've had it for six months now and have taken it on a 1200 mile trip, driven around town, and taken a 50 mile trip twice a week. The interior is exactly what you would expect for the price, and I have no complaints. It has plenty of power on the interstate and around town, making it a fun car to drive. While it may not be as exciting as a Mazda 3 speed, it is much more affordable. The backseat has great room, and the radio is nice (although it was a little tricky to learn how to use at first). It's also very comfortable. I once drove it on the worst road I've ever been on in 50 years, and I thought it would break, but it didn't. No car would have done well on that road. Overall, it's definitely worth the money. I haven't checked the miles per gallon, but it seems to be pretty good. If I had any complaints, I would have checked it, but I don't!

This car is an absolute blast to drive! I've owned BMW, Infiniti, and other high-end brands, but the TC can definitely hold its own. I've been driving it for over a month now and it's been excellent. The gas mileage is also impressive, averaging at 27 mpg. The handling, acceleration, and overall performance are superb. My friends are always surprised by the quality of this car, especially considering its affordable price. It looks and feels like a much more expensive car. In fact, people often don't believe me when I tell them the price. Scion has truly hit the jackpot with this car!

Hey there! This is actually my second car. My first one was a 2006 Corolla, but I have to say, this car is going to last me a while. I've had it for over two years now and have only had to do a minor fix on my sunroof. While it may not be the most sporty car out there, it's definitely worth the price. You might be surprised to hear that the back seats actually have a lot of room. I've even had two 6'5 people in there at the same time and they were comfortable! Plus, the stock speakers are really nice. Most people end up investing in speakers that sound worse. Thanks for listening!

Hey there! Thanks for your interest in the new Scion tC. While it may look similar to its predecessor, there are some exciting updates to note. While the 2.5L inline-4 engine may not be the most powerful, it still provides a smooth and enjoyable ride. It's true that the C-pillars can create some blind spots, but the car is equipped with safety features to help mitigate this issue. Additionally, the rear quarter panels give the car a sleek and stylish look. Thanks for considering the new Scion tC!

This car had a lot of issues and was constantly breaking down. I'm glad I was able to get rid of it before it caused any harm.

The exterior of this car has an aggressive style that catches the eye. Although I wasn't sure what to make of the dash materials, they didn't feel cheap and I didn't feel slighted in the least. This vehicle is a fun way to get from point A to point B, with some extra curricular teases. I found it easy to fall in love with this car for what it was, and hard to hate it for not being something that would cost another 4-5 thousand dollars out of pocket. If you're looking for a convenient and stylish way to get around without sacrificing efficiency or breaking the bank, this car should definitely be in your considerations. Overall, this Toyota lives up to its name in terms of drive and comfort.
