The Fiat Doblò is a panel van and leisure activity vehicle produced by Italian automaker Fiat since 2000. It was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October 2000. A second-generation Doblò succeeded the original vehicle in 2010 for most markets, and it was sold in the United States as the RAM ProMaster City from 2015 to 2022. The second generation was also sold in Europe and the UK as the Opel/Vauxhall Combo. The third-generation Doblò, a rebadged version of the Citroën Berlingo, was unveiled in June 2022, and is also sold as the Opel or Vauxhall Combo, Peugeot Partner, and Toyota ProAce.

First generation (2000)

It was first launched to the public in the Netherlands, and received the "2006 International Van of the Year" award by an international jury from 19 countries. In Singapore, a 1.4 litre LAV variant is marketed as the Fiat Panorama in five and seven seater versions. The first Doblò was sold in January 2001.

The Doblò carries a payload of up to 730 kg (1,609 lb), with an interior volume of 3.2 cubic metres (110 cu ft). The Doblò uses Fiat Strada's platform, in turn derived from the Fiat Palio's one, using a rigid axle with leaf springs at the rear, instead of a torsion beam with coil springs as on the Palio.

It is manufactured by Fiat's Tofaş subsidiary factory in Bursa, Turkey, in Brazil since 2002 and in Russia and Vietnam. Turkish models have an engine range that includes a 1.4 litre petrol, a 1.9 litre MultiJet, and a 16 valve 1.3 litre MultiJet.

In North Korea, Pyonghwa Motors produces Doblò branded as its own name Ppeokkugi.

The facelift version came in October 2005, and was restyled with modifications to the front and rear light groups, and the total design of the front part.

Common 2018 Ram Promaster city problems

The 2018 Ram ProMaster City has been reported to have several common problems by its owners. One of the most prevalent issues is excessive oil consumption. This problem has been documented by multiple owners, who have reported that the engine burns oil at a rate that is significantly higher than what is considered normal. This can lead to the engine running low on oil, which can cause serious damage if not addressed promptly.

Another common problem with the 2018 Ram ProMaster City is related to the uConnect infotainment system. The system has been known to boot into a blank screen, become unresponsive to touch, or reboot at random times. This can be frustrating for drivers, as they are forced to turn off their cars and restart them in the hopes of a better outcome.

The hood prop retaining clip on the ProMaster City has also been reported to break easily. This is a cheap plastic part that costs around $12 to replace, but it can be a hassle for owners who have to deal with it. The clip is responsible for holding the hood prop in place, and when it breaks, the hood can no longer be held open without manual support.

The 2018 Ram ProMaster City has also been recalled for engine problems. The NHTSA has received complaints about the engine, with some reports of the vehicle losing all ability to accelerate, brake, and turn. This can be a serious safety issue and can lead to crashes or other accidents.

In addition to these issues, there have been complaints about the airbag light staying on, the heated seat stopping working, and excessive oil consumption in the 2017 ProMaster City.

In summary, the 2018 Ram ProMaster City has several common problems that have been reported by its owners. These include excessive oil consumption, issues with the uConnect infotainment system, a broken hood prop retaining clip, engine problems, and other issues. It is important for owners to be aware of these problems and to take appropriate action to address them if they arise.

Negative 2018 Ram Promaster city car reviews

The engine shut down issue was not accompanied by any information regarding the need for oil refills every 1000 miles. Despite being advised to bring the vehicle in for an oil test, I was informed that any further tests would be my responsibility. Unfortunately, I had to add more oil today, despite having driven less than 500 miles. I was informed of this by the Dodge dealership. However, I remain dissatisfied with the way Dodge has handled this issue and will not be purchasing another Dodge vehicle in the future.

I am sorry to hear about the issues you have experienced with your vehicle. It seems that there have been several problems with the engine, battery, door hinges, and suspension. I hope that these issues have been resolved to your satisfaction. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

  3. Keanu Gerlach 2024-09-29

The van persistently pulls to the left into oncoming traffic, even when the steering wheel is released. Despite my efforts to resolve the issue with Ram/Chrysler (case #30715), Engineering informed me that I had to accept the problem. This issue is not limited to my 2015 model, as I also test drove a 2017 model which exhibited the same behaviour. Additionally, the cargo length advertised in the brochure (87.2 inches) is incorrect (see page 4, Area D Cargo Area Length). The actual length is 82 inches. The van has been recalled three times and has lost significant value on the market. I strongly advise considering other options before purchasing this van. Despite having driven 37,000 miles, the van still pulls to the left and Chrysler has yet to provide a solution.

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my 2017 Ram Procity Master that I purchased from a dealership. As a contractor, I was looking for a more economical vehicle and this one seemed like a good fit. However, after driving it for a little over a year and putting 23,000 miles on it, I've noticed a few issues. The engine seems to consume at least a quart of oil every 3500 miles, which is a bit concerning. Additionally, I've noticed that the padding underneath the passenger seat gets soaking wet every time it rains, and the dealer hasn't been able to figure out why. Lastly, the seat is starting to wear where I normally sit, but unfortunately, the repair isn't covered. Overall, I wouldn't recommend purchasing a Chrysler product based on my experience. Thank you for listening!

Hey there! I wanted to share my experience with you. I've had my car for 40 days now and have driven it for 820 miles. Unfortunately, I've had to take it to the service department for more than 20 days due to multiple mechanical issues. Despite 5 attempts to solve the problems, they still persist. I've reached out to the case managers with Chrysler resolution team, but unfortunately, they haven't responded for more than a week. Before making a purchase, I highly recommend doing some research online to find out which car manufacturers have the lowest reliability ratings. If you do decide to make a purchase anyway, I suggest buying two so that you can use one while the other is in the service department. Thanks for listening!

Positive 2018 Ram Promaster city car reviews

  1. Lawson Christiansen 2025-01-05

I completely agree with the points made in the previous three reviews. In my experience working in the service industry, the vehicle has been flawless for the first year and 25,000 miles. I highly recommend using the manual shift mode, as it provides a very smooth ride and helps to avoid any potential clunky performance. I have found that the gear that gives you 2000 RPM is the one you want to be in, with 5th gear being the best for driving up to 40mph and 7th gear (out of 9 gears) being the most effective for highway driving at 70mph. Although my seats are manual, they are still very comfortable. Additionally, there is plenty of cargo room, and doing away with the cage provides ample space in the front cab for one person and extends leg room.

We are thrilled with our 2016 Ram ProMaster City! As of December 2020, we have driven nearly 60,000 miles and have had very few repairs. The van runs great and is incredibly reliable. We even had to replace a radiator hose pump at one point, but it was an easy fix. We have transformed it into a live-in camper van and we absolutely adore everything about it! The van is well-designed, well-built, and very economical. Despite carrying at least 1,000 pounds of additional weight with all our gear, it zips around very quickly and is incredibly quiet. We have added a fresh water tank, grey water tank, sink, bed/storage, many cabinets, a lithium-iron phosphate battery and isolator, inverter, etc. and it's all delightful. We highly recommend this van to anyone looking for a true friend on the road!

  3. Rusty Oberbrunner 2024-06-28

This is a very well-engineered vehicle. As a builder and mechanic of 45 years, I have worked on many vehicles, but this one surpasses any I have owned or operated. I have read the full Edmonds review, and in terms of engineering quality, torque with the 9-speed transmission, and economy, it outperforms previous year's models and makes. Everything works perfectly, and I have had no quality issues with the dealership that sold me my vehicle. Eric Schram, my salesperson at Pinckney Chrysler, got me a smoking hot deal so fast and straightforward that I was in utter shock. He presented their offer and financing on my trade-in deal so simply that I couldn't be more pleased. Even my current lender wasn't able to match their timing and opportunity. Thank you all very much!

The center dashboard for the speedometer in my Promaster City Minivan poses a challenge during daylight hours due to its poor visibility.

  5. Henderson Dooley 2024-01-11

Very versatile for a small vehicle, snow handling poor. Turn off your traction control if you're stuck. Center console poorly designed but door bottle holders even the score. Needs a digital speedometer. Radio reception is often spotty. I outfitted with dual locking ladder racks, alot of noise but to be expected. Tow hitch and light connector with a 8in. Lift tow adapter works great. Tows smooth, good visibility with mirrors but tranny shift is prolonged, probably to be expected. Wall mounted tool boxes left and right and a $50 universal rubber mat. Always buy good seat covers and great floor liners(weather tech) for any vehicle you are going to keep. You won't be disappointed!!! Great value and performance. There are over a million and a half European cousins of this vehicle driving around. So it's not really new or untried, just the North American version 2014 to 2015 not so good. Redesigned 2016 to 2017 models seem overall great for the price. Consider the wagon version, even if you want to work out of it. You will get insulation rear seats and a whole lot more options an versatility for a few thousand dollars more. Also bought a full size spare tire with jack and hanger/installation kit for piece of mind, made the dealer pay half. Driving 1110 miles one way in 2 days from now towing a 4x8 harbor freight folding trailer with a 600lb load. Then 20 min to seperate the trailer into two halves that fit into the back of van, preventing me from towing a light/empty trailer 1110 miles back. That's versatility! Smart vehicle saves me gas, repairs and expensive tires for the work truck. Savings comparison to 1/2 ton work truck equal the cost of this van over a 5 year per period. Do the math, you won't be disappointed.
