2016 Ram Promaster city problems

The Fiat Doblò is a panel van and leisure activity vehicle produced by Italian automaker Fiat since 2000. It was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October 2000. A second-generation Doblò succeeded the original vehicle in 2010 for most markets, and it was sold in the United States as the RAM ProMaster City from 2015 to 2022. The second generation was also sold in Europe and the UK as the Opel/Vauxhall Combo. The third-generation Doblò, a rebadged version of the Citroën Berlingo, was unveiled in June 2022, and is also sold as the Opel or Vauxhall Combo, Peugeot Partner, and Toyota ProAce.
First generation (2000)
It was first launched to the public in the Netherlands, and received the "2006 International Van of the Year" award by an international jury from 19 countries. In Singapore, a 1.4 litre LAV variant is marketed as the Fiat Panorama in five and seven seater versions. The first Doblò was sold in January 2001.
The Doblò carries a payload of up to 730 kg (1,609 lb), with an interior volume of 3.2 cubic metres (110 cu ft). The Doblò uses Fiat Strada's platform, in turn derived from the Fiat Palio's one, using a rigid axle with leaf springs at the rear, instead of a torsion beam with coil springs as on the Palio.
It is manufactured by Fiat's Tofaş subsidiary factory in Bursa, Turkey, in Brazil since 2002 and in Russia and Vietnam. Turkish models have an engine range that includes a 1.4 litre petrol, a 1.9 litre MultiJet, and a 16 valve 1.3 litre MultiJet.
In North Korea, Pyonghwa Motors produces Doblò branded as its own name Ppeokkugi.
The facelift version came in October 2005, and was restyled with modifications to the front and rear light groups, and the total design of the front part.

2016 Ram Promaster city recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 4 recalls for different components of the 2016 Ram Promaster city.
- Manufacturer: Chrysler (FCA US LLC)
- Components: EQUIPMENT
- Summary: Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling various Dodge, Chrysler, and RAM vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V824-0103.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf
- Consequence: If the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire.
- Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began February 14, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or Kidde customer service service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Assoc. Equipment."
- Consequence: Trailer brake lights that are inoperative can increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Chrysler will mail letters to owners to try to notify the purchasers of the modules, and dealers will replace the Trailer Tow Light Control Modules, free of charge. I absolutely adore my Promaster City Wagon, especially in bright yellow! It may look like a little bread truck/caution sign driving down the road, but it brings me so much joy. I traded in my 1998 Toyota Tacoma with camper shell and 1995 Chevy Lumina minivan for this PMC wagon, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I love a car that is versatile and perfect for road trips, and this hybrid truck/van monster tops them both! It's incredibly comfortable and fun to drive, and I can easily fit all of my belongings inside. The seats are especially comfortable with the extra lumbar support, and there's plenty of leg room for taller drivers like myself. Plus, the entertainment/computer console with buttons integrated into the steering wheel and built-in hands-free phone calls with Bluetooth make it a breeze to stay connected on the go. Overall, I highly recommend the Promaster City Wagon to anyone in need of a reliable and spacious vehicle.Tons of headroom! You can put your arms straight up and wave them around. The overhead storage is way cool, and the clever bottle holders in the door pockets are a nice touch. The construction is good and solid. The sliding doors are light and very slidey, with very clever handles. I love the simplicity and design of the door handles and latches, as well as the combination door handle/lock button in the front seats. The front seating area is cavernous, with a wide-angle view. I want to drive this thing to Alaska to see the wide-open scenery! I think it's quiet. I know it's quiet compared to my Tacoma (which is a noisy little truck) and even compared to the Lumina. Even during a windstorm, I did not feel that the van was too tall or got too much wind noise or battering around. Note that it is wider than your average minivan. A wider track like a jeep might be helping to avoid that too-tall feeling. It corners like a car, not like a van. I have almost 5,000 miles on it so far, and no mechanical problems yet (knock on wood). I am getting about 24 mpg in town and more like 26 on the highway. The best mileage is in 9th gear (85mph and 30 mpg). I have not tried it in the snow yet. As a front-wheel drive, I expect it will do OK, but we'll see. It has a quick disconnect battery! Seriously, you just pull up a big pin. I have been waiting for that for years. My first car was a Studebaker (no, I am not that old...the car was older than me), and I loved my Studebaker because of the simple, functional design. I feel like I have finally bought another Studebaker. You can't beat the combination of price and utility (and I suspect, but we don't know yet because it is a new model...reliability). Driver fatigue is very low in this car due to comfort. The speedometer is oddly off to the left of the dashboard (not centered), and I don't think the trip computer allows you to show a digital speed, which would be handy. What you see in front of you is the date and some other trip info. I think this is funny because the date doesn't change--all day long!Maybe if you're using this as a work van and have to sit in that front seat and do paperwork, you'll appreciate knowing where to find the date. Although I had wanted to buy a car with automatic climate control, this car did not have that option. However, I really don't spend much time fiddling with the temperature controls in this truck anyway. There is an unfortunate blind spot where the panels are in the back/sides that prevents you from seeing, in parking lots, if someone is approaching the back of your car from the side. But, with the help of a backup camera and audible object detection system, this issue is resolved. Overall, I have fewer complaints than things that I love about the car. I often receive compliments about its looks and potential versatility. My elderly parents find it easy to get in and out of both the front and back seats, thanks to its low step-in height compared to most trucks and higher seat height than most cars. I consider it a FWD SUV, perfect for on-road adventures, a mini dry camper, a daily driver, and a cargo hauler.

Late one night, I was researching minivans on YouTube from the comfort of my own home when I stumbled upon the Ram Promaster City Wagon. My wife wanted a stow-and-go style mini, which made me cringe, but this van caught my attention. We had already looked at and test-driven several other vans, including C, D, H, K, and T models, but they all came with a hefty price tag of $33k+. Two weeks later, we had a new Ram City Wagon SLT parked in our driveway. It was a great value for the money. We've now owned our Ram Promaster City Wagon SLT for almost three weeks and have already put 2400 miles on the clock. We absolutely love it! The ride, handling, gas mileage, and interior space are all fabulous. Our wagon came with a long list of options, including heated seats, a backup camera with rear audible sensors, fog lamps, aluminum wheels, electric windows and doors (with child-proof lockouts in the rear), an adjustable steering wheel, electric adjustable heated mirrors, a rear wiper/washer with defroster, and the Uconnect radio, which is far superior to our Mylink on our GM. The front overhead storage shelf is also awesome. For those with babies or toddlers, there are a total of eight cup/bottle holders: two in the front doors, one in the rear door, and two in the center console. The headroom, shoulder room, and legroom in both the front and back are great. The front doors offer easy access to the front seats, which are equipped with turn knobs to adjust the seat recliner with lumbar support. Unfortunately, there is no lever, but the passenger has a recliner knob. The rear sliding doors open to expose rear seats that tumble forward in a 60/40 fashion (60 on the driver's side and 40 on the passenger's side), but they are non-removable. Putting our toddler in his car seat was a breeze, with no issues of banging our heads or straining our backs. Also, each rear seating position (three in total) has the LATCH System to install a child's car seat. In terms of cabin safety, there are front airbags, and the front bucket seats are equipped with airbags. There are also side curtain airbags in the front and rear. I read something about knee protection as well.I'm not entirely sure if that refers to the airbag or just the design of the lower dash. Other safety features that seem to be standard on every vehicle should be mentioned, such as antilock brakes, skid control, and hill assist. On the topic of safety, I've read professional reviewers complain about the lack of a 3rd row seat, but personally, I'm relieved! I've witnessed several rear-end accidents on the highway, and in every case, it was an automobile that was smashed into the back, up to the rear window. It's a tragedy waiting to happen to place your children or loved ones in a far rear seat/3rd row in any minivan or small SUVs. That could result in your child being compacted in any type of rear-end collision/accident. As the driver, I have a crumple zone in front of me with airbags and a steering wheel to attempt to maneuver, but you have limited or no control whatsoever when hit from behind. With that in mind, why would you place a child in the rear crumple zone? Can you explain that to me? A quick internet search will support my opinion. I suggest purchasing a full-sized van, SUV, or a bus. The rear cargo doors are also 60/40 opening to 90 or 180 degrees, offering easy, low-height access to the rear cargo area, which is carpeted with four anchoring points and shallow built-in side shelving on both sides. The rear cargo area is roughly 49In our area, we have many unpaved, washboard, and loose gravel roads. The vehicle performs satisfactorily and stays where pointed. I have driven autocross in my Alfa, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and boats. While it may not be my Alfa Spider, it certainly isn't a barge either. The word 'fun' comes to mind, with manners. Interior noise seems to be a topic of concern, but it's a van! My wife and I both think that our Ram's interior is as quiet as our 2014 Chevy extended super quiet cab. The van has a nice sounding 6-speaker stereo, free satellite radio for a year, flawless Bluetooth hookup, and iTunes with no problem. There are two 12-volt plugs between the seats and one in the rear driver's side. Near the shifter, there is a USB and audio input for your phone. Personally, I like the look of the wagon. I have fielded many questions from similar-minded folks at almost every stop, such as gas stations, grocery stores, and even highway rest areas. I am willing to show and tell, but my wife is not so much. Our dealer in Warren, PA was superb. Hats off to Cory and Troy. It was the best experience I have ever had! Out the door with the exterior and interior protection treatments and a Michelin tire swap with nitrogen, the van came in rig.

Congratulations on your purchase of a 2015 Promaster City! I noticed that you compared it to the Nissan Nv200 and the Chevy City Express, and ultimately chose the Promaster City for its impressive towing capacity and horsepower. It's great to hear that you're already enjoying the smooth ride and stability, even with a heavy load of tools. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

Very versatile for a small vehicle, snow handling poor. Turn off your traction control if you're stuck. Center console poorly designed but door bottle holders even the score. Needs a digital speedometer. Radio reception is often spotty. I outfitted with dual locking ladder racks, alot of noise but to be expected. Tow hitch and light connector with a 8in. Lift tow adapter works great. Tows smooth, good visibility with mirrors but tranny shift is prolonged, probably to be expected. Wall mounted tool boxes left and right and a $50 universal rubber mat. Always buy good seat covers and great floor liners(weather tech) for any vehicle you are going to keep. You won't be disappointed!!! Great value and performance. There are over a million and a half European cousins of this vehicle driving around. So it's not really new or untried, just the North American version 2014 to 2015 not so good. Redesigned 2016 to 2017 models seem overall great for the price. Consider the wagon version, even if you want to work out of it. You will get insulation rear seats and a whole lot more options an versatility for a few thousand dollars more. Also bought a full size spare tire with jack and hanger/installation kit for piece of mind, made the dealer pay half. Driving 1110 miles one way in 2 days from now towing a 4x8 harbor freight folding trailer with a 600lb load. Then 20 min to seperate the trailer into two halves that fit into the back of van, preventing me from towing a light/empty trailer 1110 miles back. That's versatility! Smart vehicle saves me gas, repairs and expensive tires for the work truck. Savings comparison to 1/2 ton work truck equal the cost of this van over a 5 year per period. Do the math, you won't be disappointed.

We are thrilled with our 2016 Ram ProMaster City! As of December 2020, we have driven nearly 60,000 miles and have had very few repairs. The van runs great and has been a reliable and economical choice for us. We even converted it into a live-in camper van and it has exceeded our expectations. Despite carrying over 1,000 pounds of additional weight with all our gear, the van still zips around quickly and quietly. We have added many features, including a fresh water tank, grey water tank, sink, bed/storage, cabinets, a lithium-iron phosphate battery and isolator, inverter, and more. We couldn't be happier with our purchase and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a true friend on the road!

My first review was on 11/1/16 shortly after purchasing this vehicle. At first, I was unsure of my feelings about it, but now I can honestly say that I do not like this van. One of my early complaints was the acceleration. While it's a peppy vehicle, the gas pedal is way too sensitive, and acceleration from a standstill is inconsistent. Although I've had the vehicle long enough to have gotten used to driving it, there are still times when it seems like it doesn't respond at all, which can be frustrating in busy traffic. Additionally, there is the brake issue that I mentioned in my first review. Unfortunately, the issue still exists, and RAM has no plans to do anything about it. However, I remain hopeful that they will address this issue in the future. Every morning when I leave for work, my brakes screech like crazy due to the cheap metal they used on the drums, and they rust overnight. Either that or the pads have a high metal content, and the metal in them rusts. The screeching does go away after driving the vehicle and making a number of stops to 'grind' the rust away. On a rainy day, I can get through the screeching period, drive for a while until I reach my destination, get back in the van a few hours later, and the brakes screech all over again. This is unacceptable! Since my last review, I have realized that this van handles bumps horribly. Unfortunately, I am also having electrical/transmission issues, and I am waiting for the local RAM service tech to call me back to arrange to have the van towed for them to evaluate/repair the issue. Maybe it's just my vehicle, as I do see positive reviews, but I am not happy with it.

I recently purchased a 2015 Promaster City SLT and I must say, the Ram drives so much better than Chevy, Nissan, and Ford. I want to give a big shoutout to Noel from Noelspainting & Handyman Services for making it possible to install aftermarket radios with the Chrysler Data Interface kit for all Rams. I took my van to their local shop and was the first to get these aftermarket parts installed. They kept it for a week and installed a slamming system with a 2015 Kenwood 7

The cooling fan for the motor has a problem and unfortunately, the dealership has 2500 parts on factory back order. My van has been at the dealership for over a week and I am still waiting for an update on when the parts will be available. While I am disappointed with the situation, I believe that Dodge customer service will take appropriate action to resolve this issue. Although my experience has been frustrating, I still believe that Dodge makes reliable vehicles. I would recommend considering other options before purchasing this particular model, as it has been known to use oil regularly. However, I trust that the dealership will address this issue and provide a satisfactory solution. Thank you for your understanding.

Hey there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with this product. While I've owned it since 2015 and have put nearly 60,000 miles on it, I've unfortunately encountered a few issues. The Bluetooth and radio have frozen on me a few times, and I've had some trouble with the rearview camera not activating. Additionally, I've had to deal with some common problems like a wobbling radiator fan and a failed thermostat/cooling sensor. The TPMS monitoring system has also given me some trouble, and I've had to replace the license plate light a few times. Just wanted to give you a heads up!

If you happen to misplace your key, it could cost you over $1100, plus the added expense of towing your vehicle to the dealership. Additionally, a new AC compressor could set you back $1200, not to mention the cost of the part itself. The transmission may also experience bad shifting, and the engine may be weak. It may be best to avoid this particular model, as it seems that Ram is more interested in taking advantage of their customers than providing quality products.
