Common Porsche Panamera 2021 problems

The Porsche Panamera, a symbol of luxury and performance, has not been immune to some common issues, particularly in its earlier years. While the 2021 model year is considered a more mature phase of the Panamera's production, some owners have reported specific problems.

  • Check Engine Light (CEL) Issues: Some 2021 Porsche Panamera 4S E Hybrid ST owners have experienced CEL problems, with the light coming on multiple times. The dealership has attempted to diagnose and fix the issue, initially suspecting faulty sensors, plugs, and coils. However, the problem persisted, and the dealership later suggested it might be valve springs, which would require disassembling most of the engine for weeks.
  • PCM Constantly Reboots: A 2020 software update to the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system caused the unit to constantly reboot, leading to concerns about fried hard drives and drained batteries. This issue has been a cause for concern among some owners.
  • Blinding Dashboard Glare: Porsche has been sued for a glaring problem related to beige-colored dashboards, which produce a dangerous amount of glare on windshields. This issue has raised safety concerns for some owners.
  • Coolant Leaks: Some owners have reported coolant leaks from the thermostat housing, intake manifold, water pump, and busted coolant pipes. This issue has led to overheating if not addressed promptly. Porsche has been sued multiple times and agreed to a settlement for some owners, indicating the seriousness of the problem.
  • Transmission Issues: The first-generation Panamera could experience transmission problems, such as rough shifting. While the 2021 model is beyond the first generation, it is still essential to be aware of potential transmission issues that could arise.
  • Electronic Malfunctions: Issues with electronic systems, including PCM, navigation, and entertainment features, have been a cause for concern. These malfunctions can affect the overall driving experience and require prompt attention from the dealership.

While these issues have been reported, it is essential to note that many of them have been rectified in later models. Regular maintenance and careful selection of the model year can ensure a satisfying and reliable ownership experience. Selecting one of the best Porsche Panamera years and avoiding the ones with known issues will enhance confidence in the vehicle's longevity and reliability.

  • VIN: WP0AJ2A72ML
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: To whom it may concern; I am writing you with deep disappointment as I am experiencing dissatisfaction with the quality of car that I leased on December, 06, 2021. Panamera was always my dream car, however, today it is a life threat to me and my family. The car is experiencing failure during drive, it self shifts itself to neutral while driving as well failed AC system. Yesterday, 3/19/23, on freeway, I almost got into car accident because of that shift. The car suddenly stopped, and almost got hit by other 3 cars behind me. The problem started since December 2022 with a frequency of once or twice a month. I made an appointment with Rusnak Pasadena dealership shop to run diagnostics. They found nothing… based on 15-20 min drive. The problem started increasing in frequency to 2-3 times a week. It is extremely unsafe now. During time I was leasing car, I never missed any payments, was compliant with due dates, being a proper customer to Porsche dealer (which counts back for many years now). Again, I love the car, it is my dream car, however it is a threat now to my life and my family life. I beg your attention to this matter, as it is frustrating and disappointing experience now. Thank you for your time and business, I would like to remain good customer of Porsche in future, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Negative Porsche Panamera 2021 car reviews

  1. Hipolito Ward 2024-08-14

Hello! I currently own a 2013 Panamara 4 and recently had the opportunity to test drive an '18 S edition. While it's hard to complain about such a well-built car, I did notice a few things that disappointed me when comparing it to my 2013 model. Firstly, the dashboard is higher and the clock impeded my vision. Secondly, the electronic dashboard was difficult to use with gloves on, which can be a problem in NE Ohio. Additionally, the layout is not as intuitive as previous year models, which had Porsche's long-endured one button, one function philosophy. Lastly, the variable ratio power steering did not seem to work. Overall, it's usually the minor things that can disappoint an owner or potential buyer of a $100K+ vehicle. I was surprised at Porsche's lack of attention to detail on this successful model for the car brand. Thank you for listening to my feedback!

Positive Porsche Panamera 2021 car reviews

  1. Kurtis Schimmel 2024-11-24

The car can go really fast, but be careful not to press the gas pedal too hard or you might spin out or lose control.

  2. Rashad McGlynn 2024-11-02

Great car! It's very well-built and the interior design is well thought out. Everything looks visually pleasing and is well-placed.

  3. Greyson Kassulke 2024-10-04

I'm so glad to hear that you've had no issues with your Turbo S E-Hybrid Executive! It's great to hear that it has exceeded your expectations and that you've received positive feedback from others. It sounds like you're a big fan of Porsche and I'm sure your next purchase will be just as exciting. Thank you for sharing your positive experience!

  4. Ford Johnston 2024-09-03

I used to own a 2011 Panamera 4 and it was a real head-turner, although sometimes for the wrong reasons. The design was a bit polarizing, with some people loving it and others hating the shape and lines of the old Panamera. However, the engineers have really hit the mark this time around - the car is absolutely gorgeous. Everywhere I go, people approach me to compliment the new design. The interior of the new Panamera is just as impressive as the exterior. It's incredibly comfortable, well-appointed, and packed with hi-tech features. The clutter of multiple buttons on both sides of the console is gone, making for a very well-designed and user-friendly interior. I can honestly say that I love everything about this vehicle and wouldn't change a thing. Well done, Porsche engineers!

  5. Jennings O'Hara 2024-08-04

This car is fantastic! It provides the perfect balance between a sports car and a sedan, offering great performance, style, and an amazing driving experience. I absolutely love all the technology in the car, as well as the sport design package.
