Common 2011 Porsche Panamera problems

The 2011 Porsche Panamera has been reported to have several common problems, primarily related to powertrain issues and electronic systems.

  • PCM (Porsche Communication Management) Issues: The PCM system in the Panamera, particularly the PCM3.1, has been reported to exhibit random and weird behavior. This includes the unit restarting every 2-3 minutes, map not loading, loading in the wrong language, turning on and off randomly, or displaying only the Porsche logo screen. These issues could be due to electrical or physical malfunctions within the unit itself or software instability.
  • Oil Level Issues: The Panamera's oil level is measured electronically, and there have been instances where the sensor has shown incorrect readings. This can lead to confusion about whether the engine has been overfilled or underfilled. It is recommended to confirm the oil level by draining and measuring it manually to ensure accuracy.
  • Transmission Issues: The first-generation Panamera could experience transmission problems, such as rough shifting. While this issue has not been specifically linked to any recalls, it is still a common problem reported by owners.
  • Electronic Malfunctions: Issues with electronic systems, including PCM, navigation, and entertainment features, have been a cause for concern. These problems can range from minor inconveniences to significant safety issues, depending on the specific system affected.

It is worth noting that many of these issues have been rectified in later models, and they are often considered minor compared to the overall performance and luxury offered by the vehicle. However, potential buyers should be aware of these common problems and consider them when making a purchasing decision. Regular maintenance and careful selection of the model year can ensure a satisfying and reliable ownership experience.

ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2016-10-04
  • VIN: WP0AB2A78BL
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: THE ENGINE OF MY PORSCHE PANAMERA WENT INTO A TOTAL FAILURE BECAUSE OF FAULTY DESIGN/PARTS BY THE MANUFACTURER (I.E. SCREWS BROKE INSIDE THE CAMSHAFT/BLOCK). AFTER DOING RESEARCH ONLINE, THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH PORSCHE PANAMERA, EVEN THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP (PORSCHE OF ORLANDO) TOLD ME THIS. DUE TO THIS ISSUE, THE CAR, WHILE MY SON WAS DRIVING, ESSENTIALLY STOPPED WORKING AND QUICKLY DECELERATED FROM 70 MPH TO A COMPLETE STOP IN A MATTER OF SECONDS. LUCKILY, THE SEMI THAT WAS BEHIND HIM MANAGED TO AVOID A COLLISION WHICH, IF SUCH A COLLISION WERE TO HAPPEN, COULD HAVE EASILY KILLED MY SON. PORSCHE ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THIS PROBLEM EXISTS AND A SIMPLE INTERNET SEARCH WILL DISPLAY MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF IDENTICAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE'S ENGINE BUT PORSCHE IS NEGLIGENT BY REFUSING TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THE VEHICLES SUSCEPTIBLE TO THIS PROBLEM. NOT ONLY IS THIS A HAZARD, PORSCHE REFUSES TO ISSUE REPARATIONS TO OWNERS AFFECTED BY THIS PROBLEM LEAVING PEOPLE LIKE ME OUT OF WARRANTY AND A CAR AS THE ONLY SOLUTION IS A COMPLETE ENGINE REPLACEMENT WHICH COST MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH. EVEN IN OTHER COUNTRIES, NAMELY CHINA, RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM, YET HERE IN THE U.S., THERE HAS BEEN NOTHING. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS COMPANY AS VW, THE PARENT COMPANY, WAS RECENTLY SUED FOR LYING ON MECHANICAL STATISTICS (I.E. EMISSION REPORTS). I AM HOPING THAT YOU WILL ASSIST ME IN MAKING A COMPELLING CASE AND ASSURE THAT PORSCHE ANSWERS FOR THEIR NEGLIGENCE AND REFUSAL TO HELP ITS CUSTOMERS. *TR

Negative 2011 Porsche Panamera car reviews

I was shocked when the parking position suddenly shifted to reverse, but thankfully I was able to stop the car just in time. This is a serious safety concern that needs to be addressed.

Positive 2011 Porsche Panamera car reviews

  1. Gerard Rosenbaum 2024-11-12

The early reviews that ridiculed the Panamera external styling were way off base. However, I must say that there are some color combinations that would be less than flattering. Nonetheless, I've had at least twenty strangers approach me to compliment the looks of the car (dark blue ext. natural tones interior). More importantly, the performance is mind-boggling, and the comfort features are extremely refined. Multiple driving modes change the car's performance personality at the touch of a button. All in all, it's close to perfect!

  2. Jovani Boyer 2024-11-08

I own a Turbo and I can tell you that the performance numbers provided by Porsche are very conservative. This car goes 0-60 in 3.3-4 seconds and it's easy to forget that it has 4 seats! It truly changes the game in the super sedan category. What an amazing car!

  3. Afton Kertzmann 2024-11-05

This vehicle is incredibly reliable and has all the features necessary to handle any weather condition. I absolutely love the fun factor of this car! The style and feel of the vehicle are just amazing.

  4. Joe Altenwerth 2024-10-26

Simply put, the Panamera is in a class of its own. After spending 6 months researching and test driving all potential competitors, I can confidently say that no other car can claim to have all the attributes that the Panamera has. The interior is simply superb, and while the exterior styling may be controversial, it is truly unique and classy. And as for performance, it is absolutely sublime - just in case you were wondering.

  5. Orlando Kilback 2024-10-15

We bought a 2011 Panamera 4 after considering a Cayenne. There's really no comparison - this car is a home run. It's white with beige interior, and it's absolutely stunning. You'll turn heads on the highway, and it performs like a true Porsche. Once you're inside, you'll know that this is a luxury sports car.
