2007 Pontiac Torrent problems
The Pontiac Torrent is a mid-size crossover SUV produced by General Motors for the 2006 to 2009 model years. A replacement for the Aztek, it was a mildly restyled version of the first-generation Chevrolet Equinox. The Torrent shared its basic body structure and mechanicals with the Equinox. However, the Torrent has a different front and rear end to distinguish it visually from the Equinox. The suspension was also modified to be firmer and sportier, and the electronic power steering was recalibrated to deliver a firmer, less artificial feel.
Design
The Torrent shared the Equinox's 185 hp (138 kW; 188 PS) 3.4 L V6 with the 5-Speed Aisin AF33 automatic transmission.
Like other Pontiac models in the lineup, trim levels of the Torrent were entry-level Base, mid-level GT, and performance-oriented GXP. The GXP featured a more powerful 3.6-liter DOHC SFI V6 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, along with a unique body kit and other exterior styling cues.

Common 2007 Pontiac Torrent problems
The Pontiac Torrent, a compact crossover SUV produced between 2006 and 2009, has been reported to have several common problems by its owners. One of the most frequently mentioned issues is related to the stability traction light and engine light, which are indicators of potential problems with the vehicle's powertrain and stability control systems.
The mass air flow sensor, which measures the amount of air entering the engine, has been identified as a common culprit for these issues. When the mass air flow sensor fails, it can cause the engine to run poorly, leading to a loss of power and stability. Replacing the faulty sensor has been reported to solve this problem, as mentioned by a 2007 Pontiac Torrent owner who experienced this issue.
Another common problem with the 2007 Pontiac Torrent is related to the electrical system. Owners have reported issues with the wiring harness between the body and the driver's door, which can become too short and stretch, causing the wires to fray and break. This can lead to various electrical failures, including problems with the windows, power door locks, and other electrical components.
The Pontiac Torrent has also been reported to have engine issues, with owners making 194 complaints over four model years, mostly about engine problems.
Additionally, the Torrent has been reported to have issues with the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Some owners have reported that the heat does not work properly, while others have experienced problems with the air conditioning system.
The interior of the Torrent has also been a source of complaints, with issues reported about the seats, controls, and other interior components. For example, some owners have reported that the seat adjustment mechanism can fail, making it difficult to adjust the driver's seat to a comfortable position.
In summary, the 2007 Pontiac Torrent has several common problems, including issues with the stability traction light and engine light, electrical system, engine, HVAC system, and interior components. While these issues can be frustrating for owners, many of them can be addressed through repairs and maintenance.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. SO AS TO THE DURATION OF THE ONGOING ISSUE, I AM UNSURE. ALTHOUGH, I'VE HAD IT NOW FOR A MONTH.

- Manufacturer: GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
- Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE-INACTIVE
- Summary: CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION." IN THESE VEHICLES, THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS BUILT WITH A PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM. WHEN TESTED WITH A REPRESENTATIVE UNRESTRAINED SMALL ADULT, THE SYSTEM IS REQUIRED TO TURN THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER'S FRONTAL AIRBAG ON. AN ERROR IN THE SEAT SENSOR CALIBRATION CAN CAUSE IT TO FAIL THIS TEST. IN ADDITION, THIS CONDITION CAN PREVENT THE AIRBAG FROM TURNING OFF WHEN THE SEAT IS OCCUPIED BY A SMALL CHILD.
- Consequence: WHENEVER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS OCCUPIED, THE DRIVER SHOULD ALWAYS CHECK THE AIRBAG INDICATOR TO SEE IF THE AIRBAG IS ON OR OFF. IF IT IS NOT CORRECT FOR THE SITUATION, THE PASSENGER SHOULD BE MOVED TO A DIFFERENT SEAT. THIS CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY TO A SEAT OCCUPANT DURING CERTAIN CRASH CONDITIONS.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE SEAT'S ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT YET PROVIDED AN OWNER NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438 OR PONTIAC AT 1-800-620-7668.
- Manufacturer: GENERAL MOTORS CORP.

AN INCORRECT PRIMER MAY HAVE BEEN USED WHEN INSTALLING THE WINDSHIELD. THE SAME PRIMER MAY HAVE ALSO BEEN APPLIED TO THE LIFTGATE GLASS AND THE SIDE STATIONARY GLASS.
- Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE WINDSHIELD MAY NOT BE RETAINED TO THE EXTENT REQUIRED BY THE STANDARD, INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURIES TO THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD, THE LIFTGATE GLASS, AND THE SIDE STATIONARY GLASS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 14, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438 OR PONTIAC AT 1-800-620-7668.

The Torrent was a great choice for me when I needed to upgrade to a larger car due to a new baby, but didn't want to go for a huge SUV. Not only is the Torrent's size just right, but it also looks cool, drives very well, and has great leg room in both the front and rear seats. The V-6 engine really goes when you need it to, and it handles corners better than our '02 Corolla did. The gas mileage is acceptable for a car this size, and the 3500lb towing capacity is enough for all our needs. If you're looking for value and options, a loaded Torrent can be had for under $30K. I chose the Torrent after considering the Rav4, CR-V, Trailblazer, and HHR.

Looking for a vehicle that is both fun and fuel-efficient, with plenty of features for the price? The Torrent is a crossover car with responsive handling and a smooth ride. While the horsepower could be higher for better acceleration, it still has enough pickup to merge onto highways with ease. The back seat area offers extensive legroom and a flat floor for added comfort. Fully equipped with everything except for a navigator, my wife particularly enjoys the remote start and sunroof features. The Torrent is a great alternative to pricier crossovers, with a better feel than the Equinox and easy-to-use controls.

Good looks and excellent performance. I'm really impressed with the quiet cabin and smooth ride. The back seat leg room is exceptional, making it perfect for long journeys. The features offered for the price are way above what I expected. The seats are also very comfortable, so be sure to opt for the preferred package. The engine performance is better than expected and the 5-speed transmission is great.

I'm so glad to hear that you did your research before purchasing your vehicle and that it has met your expectations. It's great to hear that you had no mechanical problems during your two-week road trip and that you found it very comfortable. With its nice performance, handling, and storage room, I can understand why you planned on keeping it for many years. It's also reassuring to know that it has a 5-star crash rating and that you walked away from a serious collision without a scratch or bruise. Best of luck in finding another Torrent to replace this one!

I was pleasantly surprised when I took the Torrent for a test drive. During the test drive, I became completely convinced that this vehicle was the perfect fit for me. I wholeheartedly agree with the review that describes it as the poor man's BMW. The vehicle feels luxurious and expensive, but without the hefty price tag. I am proud to own a Pontiac Torrent!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my new Torrent after driving it for about 4 months. While I've enjoyed it overall, I have noticed a few things that could be improved. For example, I find the controls on the steering wheel to be a bit difficult to use. The cruise control and radio buttons are quite small, which can make it hard to find the right one without taking my eyes off the road. Additionally, I've noticed that the tires seem to be wearing out quickly and don't provide great traction in rainy weather. I think it would be great if the car had a bit more power for overtaking maneuvers. Despite these issues, I still enjoy driving my Torrent and look forward to seeing how it performs in the future!

I love the look of the Pontiac Torrent! It's very roomy for a smaller SUV. Although, I have had some trouble with the ignition. Unfortunately, I've had to take it to the shop at least 8 times for this issue. The key just won't turn and it's been quite frustrating. However, the mechanics have been very helpful and have tried their best to fix the issue by spraying and lubing the ignition. Recently, my rotors have become warped at only 30,000 miles, but the mechanics have assured me that this can happen sometimes. They have just replaced the ignition cylinder and I'm hoping this will finally fix the problem!

The Torrent/Equinox is a great car that offers a lot of value for its price. It is also very safe, having received a 5-star rating even without side airbags. However, it is recommended to get the SAB option for added safety. The car is incredibly spacious, with more room than many larger SUVs, thanks to its squarish rear that really opens up. Despite being an AWD, it still manages to get good mileage, with real-world driving averaging between 22 to 24. The only downside is that like many Torrent/NOX owners, I wish it had a little more pep. The 08 model offers more engine options. One minor complaint is the lack of a good armrest for my left arm on the door or a telescopic steering wheel.

I purchased this vehicle because I was enamoured with its style. Unfortunately, I have encountered several issues with it since day one. I have been in contact with GM Head Office and have compiled a comprehensive file on the vehicle. Although I have experienced some disagreements with my hometown dealership in Orillia, I remain hopeful that the issues will be resolved soon. Despite the problems, I still have a fondness for the vehicle and am considering taking another Torrent for a test drive. I hope that my experience was an isolated incident and that other Torrents are of better quality.

Although the car was bought used last year, it has been found to have poor handling in the rain and the traction control can be scary when it comes on. Despite having four good snow tires, it is totally useless in the snow. However, on a long trip this summer, the car performed reasonably well except when it rained. It was discovered that the spare tire compartment fills with water when it rains and there were issues with the stereo and turn signal. Overall, this experience has led to the decision to not purchase another GM product.
