The Pontiac Torrent is a mid-size crossover SUV produced by General Motors for the 2006 to 2009 model years. The vehicle replaced a leased 2005 GMC EnvoyXL SLT. Although the Envoy was loaded, the Torrent has plenty of features and is fun to drive. I pulled my boat 500 miles with no problem, and the mileage is about 20% better than the Envoy. The Torrent is a blast to drive, and don't believe the reviews about it being 'mushy' etc. The 3.4 V6 has plenty of spunk. The vehicle performs very well in town and on the highway. Highway mileage is about 25, and city is about 18. There's plenty of room inside for 4 adults for long distance, and 5 adults are not a problem for shorter drives. The rear seating has amazing legroom, and the front seat passenger seat has more room than the Envoy. We added the chrome package and leather.

The Torrent is a fantastic SUV that offers ample space to carry just about anything, while still handling like a compact car. With its fabulous Pontiac power steering and transmission, it provides a smooth and enjoyable ride. Pontiac is a true signature American car, offering sharp style at first glance, muscle when you need it, and always dependable. I have driven the Murano and the Jeep Liberty on weekends, but the Torrent beats both hands down. It has all the classic benefits of a Pontiac: fast start, stylish interior and exterior, affordability (at $26,000 it is $12,000 cheaper than the Murano), and great fuel efficiency. I get 27 miles to the gallon, and it only takes $61.00 to fill up the tank. I absolutely love this car!

I have experienced several issues with my 2008 Torrent, including malfunctioning windshield wipers on low speed, a non-functional air conditioner, and a back passenger door that does not lock or unlock with auto unlock. These issues arose shortly after the warranty expired. Despite these challenges, I am confident in my ability to address and resolve them.

My husband was so excited about this beautiful vehicle that he wanted us to test drive it. As soon as I got in and adjusted the seats, I realized that I would never again need a pillow to get close enough to the steering wheel. I fell in love with it! To top things off, the center console lifts up to hold a purse or anything else, which is perfect for me since I pay a lot of money for purses. I never have to throw it on the floor or the back seat; I can have it next to me but neatly stored. Whoever designed this car was really thinking. Thank you!

I would definitely recommend this vehicle to anyone who is considering getting an SUV. It's my first SUV and I absolutely love the look and comfort of it. The XM radio in the vehicle is a fantastic feature that I can't believe I lived without before. It's a very roomy vehicle, yet still has a sporty look.

If you're in the market for a car, this one might not be the best fit for you. The engine had to be replaced at 240,000km and unfortunately, the new engine only lasted 6 months. Despite replacing several sensors and the throttle body, the car still wouldn't run properly. It's been a frustrating experience, especially since I have young children who need to get to school. It's disappointing that there hasn't been a recall for this vehicle, as it seems like many others have had similar issues.

This is a great riding cross over type SUV that gets excellent gas mileage on the highway - about 25 to 26. While the controls are pretty good, the base model's steering and handling may not meet your expectations. However, the GXP model has a different and tighter steering system that you may prefer. The center console could be more useful as it lacks storage and the center mounted power window buttons are not intuitive.

The remote start issue has persisted despite four attempts to fix it. The steering feels tight and the gas mileage is subpar. I miss having a change holder and heated outside mirrors. The seats could be more comfortable, especially compared to the 2006 model. Overall, I would prefer to have my 2006 model back. Pag gr.

I recently upgraded from my Vibe, which had 90,000 miles on it. That little car was practically free to maintain. I do miss some of its features, like the change holder, fuel door lock, always-on headlights, and most importantly, the cover for the storage area. Since I'm on the road a lot and my car is parked in motel lots overnight, having a secure storage area is crucial. Although my new car already has 600 miles on it after only 48 hours, I'm hopeful that it will be as reliable as my Vibe. It's a solid car that drives well, and I'm sure I'll eventually figure out how to program the radio.
