2015 Nissan Titan problems

nissan logo

The Nissan Titan is a full-size pickup truck manufactured in the United States for the North American market by Nissan. It was named after the Titans of Greek mythology.

First generation (A60; 2003)

Development of the Titan began in September 1999, with design work under Diane Allen. Giovanny Arroba's TA60 exterior was chosen in late 2000, with a final production freeze in July 2001. The design language of the future truck was previewed by the 2001 Alpha T concept shown at the 2001 North American International Auto Show, which had previously developed through November 2000.

Production began on September 21, 2003, and sales on December 1, 2003. The Titan used Nissan's new full-size F-Alpha platform. This new platform was shared with the Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX56 SUVs, with all three manufactured in Canton, Mississippi, United States. The first generation Titan continued without a major redesign through 2015.

Common 2015 Nissan Titan problems

The 2015 Nissan Titan Crew Cab has been reported to have a few common problems, primarily related to its engine, transmission, and fuel system.

One of the most prevalent issues is the leaking rear axle seal, which was a common problem in earlier Titan models as well. This problem is typically caused by overheating or lack of ventilation, and if left unaddressed, it can cause significant damage to the axle bearings and/or rear differential assembly.

The 2015 Titan also suffered from transmission problems, with some owners reporting hard shifting and jerking while shifting. Some reports claimed that their trucks would stop abruptly while driving. This issue was more prevalent in the 2016 Titan, but it was also reported in the 2015 model.

Another issue with the high number of reports is the truck’s fuel system. Titan owners have noticed whistling/humming sounds while they’re fueling up their trucks. Some people also reported fuel pump failure that damaged their catalytic converter.

In addition to these issues, there have been reports of premature shock failure, particularly in vehicles with under 100,000 miles. Replacement of faulty shocks is generally the resolution for this issue. Additionally, uneven tire wear has been a problem, sometimes caused by misaligned racks or faulty camber bolts.

Engine troubles have been a significant concern for the 2008 Nissan Titan, but there have been no specific reports of engine problems for the 2015 model. However, it is worth noting that some owners have reported a loud noise from the engine upon starting the vehicle, accompanied by vibrations and smoke emanating from the engine compartment due to an exploded plenum in earlier models. Others have encountered issues with the oil indicator, where the oil turns into a peanut butter-colored sludge without triggering the warning light, indicating severe oil contamination.

Overall, while the 2015 Nissan Titan Crew Cab has some common problems, it is still considered a dependable truck with very few model years to avoid. However, potential buyers should be aware of these issues and ensure that any used Titan they purchase has been properly maintained and serviced.

Do Nissan Titans have transmission problems?

These are two common Nissan Titan transmission problems, and they're caused by two separate issues. 1: Slipping on the 4-5 shift is typically caused by a failed solenoid, worn transmission bands, or using the wrong type of ATF. 2: Harsh 2-3 shifts are usually the result of a worn clutch pack.

What year is good for Nissan Titan?

The Best Model Years to Buy a Nissan Titan

With the 2021, you would only pay, on average, 88% of the price as new, with 92% of the vehicle's useful life remaining. The 2022 and 2020 model years are also attractive years for the Titan, and provide a relatively good value.

How many miles can a 2015 Nissan Titan last?

High mileage for the Nissan Titan is 180,000 and more, so good mileage is around 150,000. If you can make it to this number on the odometer without experiencing any issues that damage the integrity of the machine, you've done an excellent job as an owner. Negative 2015 Nissan Titan car reviews

  1. Carroll Gulgowski 2024-06-04

Although I have had some issues with this truck, I have been able to address them effectively. I purchased it used with 33,000 miles and have since replaced the fuze box, exhaust from the cat back, four wheel sensors, two wheel hubs, starter, power steering pump, and brake line ends. Recently, I had to replace the transmission and transfer case. Despite these challenges, the engine runs strong, it tows well, and provides a comfortable ride. Additionally, the limited slip differential has allowed me to get out of some tricky situations in the snow where other 4WD trucks have failed. Overall, I am confident in the capabilities of this truck and my ability to maintain it properly.

  2. Sebastian Terry 2024-05-15

I recently purchased a 2012 Nissan Titan Pro-4x and while I have had some mixed experiences with it, overall it has been a decent vehicle. The interior is acceptable, although there is a fair amount of hard plastic used. Unfortunately, the infotainment system has been a bit of a disappointment, as it doesn't seem to allow for music playback through Bluetooth. Additionally, the fuel mileage leaves something to be desired, especially on the highway. However, the engine does provide decent acceleration. While the towing capability is not as strong as I would like, it does the job for my occasional 6k travel trailer. Unfortunately, I have had to take the truck into the shop a few times for repairs, including a recent $1300 expense for a serpentine belt, hydraulic tensioner, belt pulleys, alternator, and power steering pump. Despite these issues, I still believe the truck is a decent option for those who don't need to tow frequently or drive long distances on the highway. However, if I were to purchase another vehicle, I would consider a 3/4 or 1 ton diesel for more power and better fuel economy.

  3. Raymundo Heathcote 2024-03-11

The interior and paint could use some improvement.

  4. Oscar Wisozk 2024-03-09

I really like the 5.6 liter engine! Although it may lack modern technology, it was exactly what I needed when I bought it - a great truck!

Positive 2015 Nissan Titan car reviews

  1. Elbert Corkery 2025-03-27

You had an excellent ride and the comfort was top-notch. The truck has plenty of engine power, which makes it a little gas thirsty, but that's to be expected. The interior space is awesome and you get a commanding view of the road and surroundings. Overall, it's a great value for money.

  2. Anibal Hoeger 2025-03-17

You've got yourself a very reliable truck there! Its power and handling are superb, and it rides like a luxurious sedan. You towed your 27 footer travel trailer with ease, which is impressive!

  3. Dock Rolfson 2025-03-03

Drives tight with good radio. The seats hold you in place through the turns and the ride is very firm. It has a lot of power and a great interior. I really like it. And wait for it, even with 160000 miles, it still drives like new.

  4. Cleveland Botsford 2025-01-28

The 2012 Titan is a really reliable vehicle with a powerful engine. The 5.6 V8 is fantastic. I purchased this in 2020 with 100,000 miles and I'm absolutely loving it!

  5. Eduardo Moen 2025-01-13

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with Titans. I've owned a few over the years and have generally had great experiences with them. Unfortunately, I recently had an accident that totaled my 2012 model, but thankfully I walked away unharmed. I decided to upgrade to a 2015 model, but was disappointed to find that the interior design on the doors had changed for the worse. I'm currently experiencing some issues with the door assembly and plan to call the dealership again this morning. I'm hoping they can help me out and get everything sorted. Thanks for listening!
