The Nissan Titan is a full-size pickup truck manufactured in the United States for the North American market by Nissan. It was named after the Titans of Greek mythology.
First generation (A60; 2003)
Development of the Titan began in September 1999, with design work under Diane Allen. Giovanny Arroba's TA60 exterior was chosen in late 2000, with a final production freeze in July 2001. The design language of the future truck was previewed by the 2001 Alpha T concept shown at the 2001 North American International Auto Show, which had previously developed through November 2000.
Production began on September 21, 2003, and sales on December 1, 2003. The Titan used Nissan's new full-size F-Alpha platform. This new platform was shared with the Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX56 SUVs, with all three manufactured in Canton, Mississippi, United States. The first generation Titan continued without a major redesign through 2015.

After conducting some thorough research, I decided to go with the Titan. In my opinion, it has great build quality, a comfortable and quiet cabin, impressive safety features, an awesome V8 engine, and a solid warranty. I don't understand the negative reviews that rank the Titan below Ram, Ford, and GM. The only downside seems to be the lack of power train options, but if you're looking for a reliable V8, the Titan is a great choice! It's definitely more unique than the big 3, and since styling is subjective, it's important to make your own decision rather than rely on reviews. The Titan is comfortable, quiet, and performs exceptionally well! I highly recommend taking a test drive and experiencing it for yourself!

3 year / 35k mile update: I am happy to report that I have experienced no problems, issues, glitches, or rattles with my Titan. I am so satisfied with my ownership that I am not even considering swapping it for another vehicle at this time, which is a rarity for me. At the 20k mile update, I was still impressed with the Titan and it has continued to perform great. Although I wish it had Auto 4WD and the driver's seat could adjust lower, these are very minor compared to the list of issues I had with my 2016 F150. In my original review, I expressed how impressed I was with the Titan and how much I loved driving it. During the test drive, I found that its real-world V8 performance, handling, braking, and comfort were equal to or better than my 2016 F150. I have owned Ridgeline and Tundra, and have test driven all choices (though only bothered to go so far as sitting in the GM). Except for favorable Ram reviews, and knocks on the Titan's exterior styling (the Titan has a couple awkward styling points in my opinion) I disagree with auto reviewers' opinion of the Titan vs competition. Minor styling aside, I feel the Titan has no major shortcomings whereas the others did. Real world gas mileage of all trucks is within 2-4 mpg of each other (they're all horrible, so might as well get a nice sounding and driving V8) and configuration choices had no impact on my decision. The Titan's final negotiated purchase price (not the MSRP as often referred to in reviews) and warranty did have a major impact in my decision though...with the Titan SL I feel like I got an F150 Lariat / Limited (or Ram Laramie / Limited) for an XLT/Big Horn price...and got a 5 year/100k bumper to bumper warranty vs 3 year/36k with Ford and Ram. After 1 month of driving the Titan, I can confidently say that I love the seat comfort, the safety technology works flawlessly, and the engine sounds and drives awesome. Everything is where it should be and is easy to use.Headlights that work (my F150's headlights were beyond useless). Don't Love: Manually locking rear tailgate (need to use a key to lock!). The rear doors don't open as wide as the F150, and I keep trying to open them wider. The transmission has been confused a couple of times...I think it's just the software getting used to my driving.

As a typical suburbia dad, I was looking for a truck that was not only comfortable but also had the most safety and convenience features for the money. After researching, I found that the Titan had the most features for the money after rebates and promotions. I have owned different brands in the past, including a Dodge Ram 1500 and a Honda Ridgeline, but the 2020 Titan SV 4x4 is by far the best. The interior is very nice and comfortable, especially the cloth seats which are amazing. The sound system sounds great and the infotainment system is awesome and easy to manipulate. The 9However, none of the other brands offer this kind of safety feature in their lower trims. Additionally, it would be helpful to know how far up you have to go in the other brands to get 'smart' cruise control. The Nissan for 2020 is unbeatable. The exterior of this truck looks great and is very solid. I opted for the in-bed storage, which is a nice feature, and the step is also a great add-on for the SV. The only thing missing in the trim is power folding mirrors, which would be a nice addition, especially since I have the trailering package. Another omission by Nissan is the lack of daytime running lights, but it's not a deal breaker. In fact, the regular halogen bulbs are easy to replace, and for just $60, I added LED replacement bulbs which made a huge difference. The engine is powerful, and the transmission shifts smoothly. In fact, the engine is as good as the Hemi in the Dodge. However, Nissan didn't add any fuel-saving measures, so you have to deal with paying more at the pump. My first tank of mixed driving was around 16mpg, but I can tell that on the highway, it will get around 20mpg. It feels good to drive and isn't too stiff. It's not as soft as the others, but there's very little difference in my opinion. The only complaint I have is that the steering is a bit too heavy at low speeds. If Nissan were to fix that, this would be a real contender for the best truck. I can see how the steering can be an issue for smaller people, but it makes the truck feel secure and steady on the road. Overall, this truck is totally underrated. It's worth every penny once you apply discounts. Not only that, but I got almost all the discounts plus 0% financing, which the others couldn't match. I'm happy, and until gas goes through the roof again, I won't complain too much about pumping gas.

After looking at similar offerings from the big 3, I compared them against the Titan and came away impressed with the overall package. Each of the manufacturers has their high points and low points. For instance, Ram has the nicest interior/infotainment system and best ride but falls short on reliability. GMC has a great 360 degree camera system for trailering but the interior materials quality is at the bottom of the segment. It has a lot of catching up to do in that department. Ford offers a great turbocharged V6 option (Ecoboost) with a lot of power and great fuel economy. They also tout the highest towing numbers in the class but in real-world towing situations, it just doesn’t feel confident towing over 10k lbs. It's better to go with a Super Duty truck if you want to tow more than 10k. Finally, while the Titan doesn’t offer the most configurations, it does most things really well and is a good compromise between quality and value. For 2020, they have stepped it up with a ton of high-tech safety features as standard equipment. Basically, all of the options available in high-end luxury cars now come standard on the Titan. Yes, it only offers one engine option but it is very powerful and the truck/platform pulls and tows with great confidence. The interior was recently updated with more standard tech than the competition and is only behind Ram as far as nav screen size goes. It also offers lots of connectivity options (standard) inside the cabin and the materials feel high quality. There is also an optional panoramic moonroof! Overall, the Titan is a great choice. It offers a ton of standard equipment and you can get a great deal if you negotiate, significantly cheaper than the competition. Not to mention that it offers by far the best warranty in the business, 5yr/100k miles. The Titan is not just a great value proposition, it is a very capable truck.Just by spending a few minutes in a Titan, you can tell that this truck is built with high-quality materials and feels solid and planted. It's a shame that many truck buyers won't get to experience how great the Titan is, as they tend to only consider one or two options from Detroit. Even the Tundra, which is due for a major redesign in 2021 or 2022, gets little to no respect from domestic truck buyers. Speaking of the Tundra, I didn't consider it as an option at this time because it feels very dated.

I've owned a 14, 16, and now a 21. They are fantastic trucks and workhorses, and they're made in America! It's hard to say which is better: a foreign-owned company that provides jobs to Americans and manufactures their products here, or an American company that employs in Mexico and uses Mexican parts. Either way, the Titan is an excellent truck that stands out from the crowd, and I highly recommend it. I wish they would receive more recognition for their quality and American manufacturing.

I recently purchased my second Nissan Titan, a 2021 Pro4X 4WD. The interior is comfortable and quiet, with heated and ventilated seats that make for a car-like ride over most road surfaces. The Fender audio system produces clear midrange and treble. Although the AC struggles on extra hot days and the fuel tank size limits distance, the strong V8 engine provides a throaty growl. The steering can be heavy at lower speeds, and the power seat has limited adjustability for seat height. The 360 camera resolution is not very high, and the rear doors do not open as wide as the front doors. The updated 9-speed auto transmission can be frustratingly abrupt at low speeds, and the bass from the Fender system is not clear and easily overpowers the speakers in the doors, creating popping sounds. Unfortunately, the plastic Pro4X trim on the tailgate has faded while sitting in the sun, despite being only two years old.

I own a Nissan Titan Pro4X, which is a great looking truck. However, I have noticed that it can be a bit laggy when it comes to takeoff power and switching gears, such as downshifting to pass someone or taking off from a light. Additionally, I have found that the infotainment system leaves much to be desired. The maps are not very accurate and the software seems outdated. It also struggles to connect with phones and the voice commands are not very responsive. Despite these issues, I still believe that this truck has a lot of potential. I have had some trouble with the cameras, but overall they work well. While there have been some noises coming from different parts of the truck, I have been able to address them. I think that Nissan could have a great truck if they focused on improving these areas.

The 2021 Titan SV truck runs and handles great. However, there is an issue with mold buildup in the two tracks on the top. Despite having them cleaned and painted by the dealer, the repair is turning yellow and the mold is building up again. It is worth noting that I do not park under or near any trees, but rather in my driveway or in the parking lot at work. While the mold is unsightly, I am confident that a solution can be found to address this issue.
