2004 Nissan Titan problems
The Nissan Titan is a full-size pickup truck manufactured in the United States for the North American market by Nissan. It was named after the Titans of Greek mythology.
First generation (A60; 2003)
Development of the Titan began in September 1999, with design work under Diane Allen. Giovanny Arroba's TA60 exterior was chosen in late 2000, with a final production freeze in July 2001. The design language of the future truck was previewed by the 2001 Alpha T concept shown at the 2001 North American International Auto Show, which had previously developed through November 2000.
Production began on September 21, 2003, and sales on December 1, 2003. The Titan used Nissan's new full-size F-Alpha platform. This new platform was shared with the Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX56 SUVs, with all three manufactured in Canton, Mississippi, United States. The first generation Titan continued without a major redesign through 2015.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-06-20
- VIN: 1N6AA07B74N
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: I was driving down a main road by my office, accelerating when the car suddenly stalled. As the truck was independently decelerating, the steering wheel became hard to steer due to the truck being "off". I managed to force it to turn to a shoulder so as to not get rear ended by vehicles behind me. I could've been on the highway with traffic speeds up to 70mph and it would've been a different scenario. I later found out that the 1/4 fuel on the gauge was faulty and I was out of gas. I went to the NHTSA website to find out 2005 model Titans were included in the recall but not my 2004.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-08-09
- VIN: 1N6AA06AX4N
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
- Summary: My Titan is a 4 door not 2, also I am not sure if these recalls I saw are related to the problems I am having but my light indicator (as in the pictures I provided) has come on twice I immediately turn it off and I wait for the engine to cool it gets really hot but it doesn't indicate any over heating on the dash indicators (it might just be me but it seems hot enough to be overheating) and once cooled i check the fluids and refill the oil as needed (coolant level been fine) but this has happened to me now 2 times in a 3 day period so I believe there is a leak. Also about my shifter I'm not sure if this applies but I have the shifter you can switch to manual (I've never switch to manual bc I don't know how to drive manual) but I have an issue with it just in automatic sometimes when I shift from park to drive it doesn't seem to switch from park to drive and the vehicle stays in the parked position while the shift is in drive and I have to shift back to park wait a second and then shift back into drive a second time before I get the truck into driving mode. I added some pictures of recalls that are for my year make and model truck that seem like the same issues I'm dealing with and wasn't sure if they applied to my vehicle and just got missed with the amount of owners it's had

- Components: POWER TRAIN,STRUCTURE,ENGINE
- Summary: I purchased this truck on 04/05/18 from Harbor motors Lihue Kauai, and not even a week into having this truck it started acting up, overheating, the truck wouldn't turn over, suspensions, the four-wheel-drive wouldn't disengage, when you turn the key to start the vehicle it would make a clicking noise before starting, the AC would work when it wanted to, and the transmission and engine started knocking. The next week I went running errands and when I pulled out of my yard the truck started jerking then pressed the gas and it revved really high before slamming into drive. Since then I haven't driven the truck. And today it looks like someone just smashed into the front driver light to the side and smashed it while being parked at the place I purchased the truck from. I've continuously asked for help with little to no help at all. The truck is no longer drivable and I'm still making payments on it. The lights on the dashboard has the Check enigine light on, snd the ABS

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-04-08
- VIN: 1N6AA06B74N
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: THE VEHICLE BRAKES FREQUENTLY GO OUT AND START TO SHAKE AND MAKE A SPRINGY NOISE WHEN YOU PUSH DOWN ON THEM AND THE BRAKES LOSE POWER AND CANNOT BE APPLIED SAFELY. THIS MAY LEAD TO A CRASH AND NISSAN CANNOT DIAGNOSE THIS WITH CERTAINTY SO INTERVENTION FROM NHTSA IS NEEDED. I HAVE LEARNED THAT THERE IS A POSSIBLE FAULTY DELTA COMPUTER SENSOR AND/OR BRAKE BOOSTER THAT NISSAN CANNOT PROBLEM SOLVE VERY WELL. THIS PROBLEM COULD OR HAS LED TO CRASHES WHEN YOU CANNOT APPLY THE BRAKES AT SPEED. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING AND THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. PLEASE PUT OUT A RECALL FOR THIS SO THAT WAY THERE ARE NO CRASHES THAT CAN INJURY MY FAMILY OR OTHERS.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2009-01-01
- VIN: 1N6AA06B84N
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE SO I'M OFFICIALLY REPORTING. I'VE OWNED THIS CAR FOR 16 YEARS. IN THAT TIME, I'VE REPEATEDLY HAD ISSUES WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM AT DIFFERENT TIMES STARTING IN 2006, BUT DEFINITELY IN 2009. I'VE BROUGHT IT UP WITH DEALERS IN BOTH SACO, ME & WAKE FOREST, NC. EACH TIME THEY CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM. FINALLY AFTER THE LAST TIME THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS A BULLETIN ABOUT THE COMPUTER NEEDING AN UPDATE. WHICH COST MULTIPLE HUNDREDS TO INSTALL. THIS INSTALL DEFINITELY DECREASED THE INCIDENTS OF MULTIPLE BRAKE FAILINGS WHILE DRIVING, BUT DIDN'T COMPLETELY FIX THE PROBLEM. I'M JUST NOW LEARNING THAT IT'S A FAULTY DELTA STROKE SENSOR IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND IS A KNOWN PROBLEM TO NISSAN FOR THE TITAN AND ARMADA MODELS. I NEVER GOT THE POSTCARD ABOUT THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, BUT IT WOULDN'T HAVE HELPED SINCE THEY NEVER IDENTIFIED THE ISSUE OR MAYBE EVEN HID IT FROM ME DURING MY VISITS. BECAUSE OF THIS I'M OUT OF THE WINDOW FOR THE LAWSUIT AND AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS. MY '04 STILL ONLY HAS 78,000 MILES AND MULTIPLE OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. NISSAN JUST HAD TO PAY 25 MILLION TO A FAMILY THAT WAS HIT BY ONE OF THESE AFFECTED VEHICLES, BUT STILL WILL NOT CLAIM THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE DELTA SENSOR AND BRAKE BOOSTER. PLEASE MAKE THEM FIX THIS ISSUE TO SAVE LIVES AND PAY FOR SOMETHING THEY KNOW HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR A VERY LONG TIME. THE BOOSTER CAN BE RESET AND THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY, BUT TO DO THIS YOU HAVE TO STOP THE CAR WITH THE BRAKES FLUTTERING AND NOT RESPONDING. THEN YOU SHUT OFF THE CAR FOR 10 SECONDS AND RESTART THE CAR. THIS USUALLY FIXES THE ISSUE, BUT IT CAN RETURN AT ANY TIME. USUALLY WHEN YOU'VE ALREADY BEEN DRIVING FOR AWHILE. STARTED BACK IN 2006, BUT GOT WORSE IN 2009. COMPUTER FIX LESSENED ISSUE, BUT STILL OCCURS AT RANDOM TIMES.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2020-02-13
- VIN: 1N6AA06B74N
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: I WAS DIAGNOSING A METAL ON METAL SOUND COMING FROM MY 4 WHEEL DRIVE NISSAN TITAN AND FOUND THAT THE HALF SHAFT WAS COMING OUT OF THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. I CALLED A NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN UTAH AND WAS INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH EARLY MODEL TITANS. THE TECH SAID HE HAD REPAIRED MANY TITANS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. HE SAID IT WAS DUE TO A C CLIP THAT FAILS AND ALLOWS THE GEARS TO GET CHEWED UP IN THE DIFFERENTIAL. I LOOKED ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE HAD BEEN ANY RECALLS ON THIS AND FOUND THERE HAD NOT BEEN. I THEN CALLED NISSAN TITAN AND THEY INFORMED ME OF THE SAME AND GUIDED ME TO THIS WEBSITE. THIS SEEM LIKE A HUGE ISSUE THAT EITHER NOT BEEN REPORTED. THIS SEEMS LIKE IT WOULD LEAVE PEOPLE WHO BOUGHT THIS FOR SNOWY AREAS OR OFFROADING IN AN UNSAFE SITUATION WHEN THEIR 4 WHEEL DRIVE FAILS OR LOCKS UP. IN CERTAIN AREAS IN UTAH, WE ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE CHAINS OR 4 WHEEL DRIVE IN CERTAIN AREAS. WITH THE FAILURE OF A C CLIP AND THE GEARS GETTING CHEWED TO PIECES THIS SEEMS LIKE IT WOULD CAUSE HUGE SAFETY ISSUES, NOT TO MENTION COSTS TO CONSUMERS OVER A UNSOUND DESIGN.

2004 Nissan Titan recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 7 recalls for different components of the 2004 Nissan Titan.
- Manufacturer: NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.
- Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
- Summary: NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2006 ARMADA, TITAN, INFINITI QX56 AND MODEL YEAR 2005-2006 FRONTIER, PATHFINDER AND XTERRA VEHICLES. THE INTELLIGENT POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE (IPDM) ASSEMBLY CONTAINS AN ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) RELAY THAT HAS A DIODE FOR ELECTRICAL CURRENT NOISE REDUCTION. THE ECM RELAY MAY ALLOW SILICON VAPOR TO FORM AND, OVER TIME, THE SILICON EVAPORATES FROM THE DIODE MOLDING WHICH CAUSES SILICON OXIDE TO DEVELOP ON THE ECM RELAY CONTACT DUE TO ARCING.
- Consequence: THIS COULD CAUSE ENGINE STALLING INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ECM RELAY INSIDE THE IPDM ASSEMBLY. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 6, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.
- Manufacturer: NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.
- Components: SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER ARM
- Summary: NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN FRONT AND REAR LOWER LINKS, P/NOS. 54501ZQ00A, 54500ZQ00A, 551A1ZQ00A, 551A0ZQ00A , 54501EA00A, 54500EA00A, 551A1EA500, 551A0EA500, 54501ZR00A, AND 54500ZR00A, SOLD BETWEEN NOVEMBER 25, 2009 AND MAY 14, 2010 AS REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR MODEL YEAR 2004 THROUGH 2010 TITAN, ARMADA, AND QX56, AND MODEL YEARS 2005 THROUGH 2010 FRONTIER, XTERRA, AND PATHFINDER VEHICLES. THE LOWER CONTROL LINK ASSEMBLY HAS TWO CYLINDRICAL COLLARS FORMING THE INBOARD ATTACHMENT POINTS TO THE CHASSIS. DUE TO AN IMPROPER WELDING PROCESS SOME COLLARS MAY CONTAIN WELDS THAT DO NOT MEET STRENGTH SPECIFICATIONS.
- Consequence: IF THE COLLAR WELD SEPARATES, THE VEHICLE HANDLING WILL DETERIORATE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
- Remedy: NISSAN WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY AFFECTED LOWER LINK FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 12, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.
- Manufacturer: HOPKINS MANUFACTURING CORP.
- Components: EQUIPMENT
- Summary: CERTAIN HOPKINS AFTERMARKET TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL CONNECTION HARNESSES SOLD FOR USE ON CERTAIN MODELS OF NISSAN VEHICLES WHICH ARE LISTED ABOVE. THE INTERNAL PART NUMBERS WITHIN HOPKINS ARE: 1010476025, 1040376025, 1110476025, 1170376025, 1290376025, 1010476035, 1040376035, 1110476035, 1170376035, AND 1290376035. A WIRE MAY HAVE BEEN PLACED IN AN INCORRECT POSITION IN THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR HOUSING. THIS RESULTS IN AN INCORRECT ROUTING OF WIRES BETWEEN THE TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER AND THE TOWING VEHICLE WIRING SYSTEM.
- Consequence: THIS HARNESS WOULD RESULT IN POWER FROM THE TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER GOING TO THE TOWING VEHICLE DASH LIGHT CIRCUIT RATHER THAN THE TRAILER BRAKES. THIS RESULT WOULD BE THE LACK OF TRAILER BRAKING WHEN THE TOWING VEHICLE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. IT WOULD ALSO RESULT IN THE TOWING VEHICLES DASH LIGHTS BEING ACTIVATED WHEN THE VEHICLE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE FAILURE OF THE APPLICATION OF THE TRAILER BRAKE COULD RESULT IN REDUCED ABILITY TO STOP AND CONTRIBUTE TO A POSSIBLE CRASH.
- Remedy: HOPKINS WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE ORIGINAL HARNESS WITH A REVISED HARNESS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN AUGUST 17, 2007. OWNERS CAN CONTACT HOPKINS AT 800-835-0129.
- Manufacturer: NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.

THESE WIRES MAY BREAK DUE TO OVER BENDING OF THE HARNESS AS THE DOOR IS OPENED AND CLOSED. THE HARNESS CONTAINS WIRES FOR THE DRIVER SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER AND FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT WHICH IS PART OF THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM. WIRES FOR THE REAR AUDIO SPEAKERS ARE ALSO CONTAINED N THE HARNESS.
- Consequence: IF THE WIRES FOR THE SEAT BELTS AND SPEAKER WIRES BREAK AND MAKE CONTACT, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE PRETENSIONER MAY DEPLOY. I'm delighted to share that my truck is almost 14 years old and I've been the proud owner for about 7 of those years (second owner). With 97,XXX and counting, I'm confident that this truck has a long future ahead. I plan to hold onto this truck for many years to come. Since I purchased the truck with about 38,000 miles, I've not had any major issues to speak of. Other than regular maintenance (fluid changes, tune-up, belts, tires, batteries, etc...), and some minor upgrades (heavy duty shocks, CIA, exhaust, etc...) this truck never see's the shop. It's extremely responsive, has plenty of torque, and makes a great tow vehicle. Although it's not the most comfortable truck I've owned, nor is the most agile, it's still a great truck and is probably the best vehicle purchase I've ever made (and I've owned a lot of vehicles), given the price I've paid, and the years of service I expect to get from it.

I test drove a Ford F-150 XLT Triton, a Chevy Silverado 1500 and a 2500HD, and a Tundra. I test drove the Nissan Titan last, and that was my final test drive. I've had my Titan for less than a month, and I wouldn't buy any other truck. This truck has so much power and interior room. Overall, I give this truck a 10 out of 10.

This is a great truck! Although I was hesitant to buy the first year production, it has worked out well for me with only one exception. The performance of this truck is fantastic - it's fast and drives like a car. Unfortunately, the driver's electric window recently broke and won't roll up, but other than that, I'm extremely happy with the vehicle. The pricing on the Titan is very competitive, and although I was attracted to the Dodge truck, it was quite a bit more expensive. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase!

I'm not an easy grader, but I have to say that I'm extremely satisfied with this truck. Despite a few quality control issues, it's been a great ride with 1200 miles on it. Nissan really put a lot of thought into engineering this truck, which is a far cry from the modular world of the domestics. Unlike the standard practice of picking and pulling parts from the shelves that don't work well together, this truck is a well-oiled machine. And let's talk about the engine - it's simply amazing! It's so powerful that it can turn 33 inch tires with ease, and it's a real thrill to hit the accelerator. The ride is relatively smooth for such a rigid frame, which is a testament to the truck's design. Overall, I give it an A+.

I recently purchased a Nissan Titan SE King Cab with the Bench Popular Package and the Utility Bed Package for a total of $25,500. After tax, title, and license fees, the final cost was $26,996. One of the things I love about this truck is the ample space inside. I can comfortably fit three kids in the back with their child seats and still have plenty of room. Additionally, there is a lot of storage space, including an overhead console, door panel, and center console. I also appreciate the auxiliary plug integrated into the stereo for my MP3 player. While the stereo quality is not the best, it's still decent. The only downside is that the light from the stereo reflects onto the back window and rearview mirror while driving at night, which can be a bit annoying. Overall, I think this truck is fantastic.

This truck is powerful and fun to drive. Although it may not be the most fuel-efficient, it's just a pedal push away when you need the power. I really appreciate how spacious the cab is.

This truck has experienced several recalls, but I have taken care of each issue with confidence. I replaced the entire rear end with a newer model after Nissan was unable to fix the leaking rear axle seals. The cost was $2700, but it was worth it for the peace of mind. Additionally, I had to replace a faulty fuse box for $425, which was a minor inconvenience. Although I now have to press the gas pedal to start the truck, I am confident that Nissan will be able to diagnose and fix the issue. I have also experienced some minor issues with the interior lights, electric windows, and 4x4 sensor, but I am confident that these can be resolved with ease. Despite these challenges, I remain confident in the quality of my truck and my ability to maintain it.

When shopping for a new truck, I narrowed my choices down to the Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan. Unfortunately, after only 4 months of ownership, I've experienced some issues. The brakes started to shimmy after only 2 months and the interior is already starting to fall apart, with buttons on knobs falling off and the rubber around the door coming loose. While the truck is certainly refined, it may be a little too delicate for a full-size pick-up truck. In hindsight, I may have been better off considering more traditional U.S. makers such as Dodge, Ford, and GMC, or sticking with Toyota.

Hi Nissan, I hope you're doing well. I wanted to bring to your attention an issue I've been experiencing with my brakes. I've had to deal with a shutter in the steering twice now due to warped rotors from overheating brakes. I've heard from others who have had similar issues and have had to bring their cars in multiple times. I'm hoping we can work together to find a solution to this problem. Thank you for your time.

I really like the truck, but I do have some concerns. It seems like they used tape and snap together parts instead of screws, which worries me. Additionally, my dash makes some noises that make me concerned it might fall out of the truck, and the mud flaps are held on with double sided tape. I paid $30,000 for this truck, and I expect it to be reliable. I'm taking it to the service department on Monday, and I hope they can fix it. If not, I might have to consider a Ford.
