- Summary: My moonroof spontaneously exploded while driving to work on the interstate. There was a very loud boom that sounded like a bomb or tire exploding and then glass started raining down on me while driving. Luckily, my children were not with, as there were small pieces of glass throughout the interior cabin including the back seat where they sit. I was driving alongside a semi when it happened and was at about the mid point of the semi's length. I initially thought the semi's tire blew and debris hit a passenger side window until the glass started falling on me. I live in Michigan. The temperature was around 30 degrees to 32 degrees. No snow, rain, or ice was on the moonroof or on the road that could have been kicked up to cause the break. The road and adjacent ground were completely dry. I parked in the garage overnight and had been on the road approximately 15 minutes when it happened. I was driving approximately 76 mph. This is the second time my moonroof exploded with this vehicle. The first time happened approximately 5+ years ago and the glass was replaced by a local glass shop under an insurance claim with Progressive Insurance. With the first incident, the result was a round hole maybe 9" in diameter, so I thought a large rock hit it. I was completely distraught over it, pulled over to the side of the road in morning rush hour traffic, and searched for a rock in the car. I found nothing. At the time of the first incident, it happened during a warmer Michigan month; though, I do not recall the specific timeframe. It was well above 50 degrees when it happened. I had been on the road for maybe 10 minutes and was driving approximately 70 mph. Now that it has happened a second time, I am absolutely convinced both incidents were due to a vehicle flaw. It happened yesterday, 12/11/2023. I have an appointment on 12/14/2023 with Graff Nissan in Okemos to have it reviewed. I am looking for a new vehicle because I'm scared to drive it.

The vehicle also will not accelerate as fast and sometimes will not go over a certain speed. The vehicle sometimes startes to rolls backwards when in drive when idling. The vehicle also shakes when slowing down from a higher speed i.e. when you are on the freeway and then have to slow to lower speeds no matter how much distance you give. I have almost been rear ended and run backwards at the light because the vehicle goes backwards then goes forward. THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR 2014 NISSIAN OWNERS.

Because of this, I took my Nissan Sentra to a Nissan service center to get it inspected. The mechanic informed me that my transmission is faulty. I purchased my car in 2014 and only have 68,000 miles on it so I was shocked that my transmission is already having issues. Once I started to research Nissan Sentra CVT transmissions online, I noticed that there were numerous complainants from many consumers regarding this CVT transmission. I was told by the mechanic that I had to replace and fully pay for the transmission which costs $6,500 and Nissan Corporate was not going to help in anyway. This is unacceptable that Nissan is selling cars with faulty parts knowing that they will have to be repaired or replaced sooner than anyone can anticipate. It's also very dangerous to drive on these transmissions as they can breakdown any moment, potentially leading to a car accident and bodily injuries. Nissan corporate is stating that there is nothing that they can do for me they are very unprofessional and unapologetic on the issue that they have with their transmission. I I have contacted the head quarters to see if they could at least pay for half of the cost and the super Carl was very rude and stated that he was confused on what I thought that he could do. - Summary: My Nissan Sentra burst into flames on July 27,2022-not sure why this occurred; the car was last serviced before this incident on June 17, 2022-the car's Compressor/AC were replaced. I had just parked the car at a hotel when the fire began. The only inspection was from a fire marshal and the insurance company that car was a complete loss. There was no warning when this happened and had I had a full tank of gasoline this would have gravely injured me. The car had seven years of meticulous upkeep so this catastrophe was totally unexpected. The autos parked on either side of me suffered serious damage as well.

- Consequence: In the event of a crash, if the front passenger air bag doesn't deploy properly, it can increase the risk of injury to passengers.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began June 7, 2017. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Sentra vehicles manufactured June 4, 2012, to April 9, 2016. The front passenger seat belt bracket may become deformed if it is used to secure a Child Restraint System (CRS). The deformed seat bracket may cause the Occupant Classification System (OCS) to incorrectly classify the installed CRS, resulting in the front passenger air bag to not be turned off as designed when a CRS is in the seat.
- Consequence: If the frontal passenger air bag deploys in the event of a crash when a child seat is installed in the front passenger seat, there will be an increased risk of injury to the child in the CRS.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will reinforce the seat belt bracket as well as reprogram the Air Bag Control Unit (ACU) and OCS Electronic Control Unit (ECU), free of charge. The recall began on June 13, 2016. Owners are warned not to install a CRS in the front seat. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669.

The affected vehicles received an incorrect occupant classification system (OCS) control unit during a repair. These OCS control units may incorrectly classify the front passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult.
- Consequence: If the OCS does not detect an adult occupant in the passenger seat, the passenger air bag would be deactivated. Failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the passenger.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will update the OCS software, free of charge. The recall began on November 30, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

I've owned five Nissan Sentras in my life, and they have all been fantastic, reliable, and safe cars that have saved me a lot of money on mileage. I've never had any issues with my Sentras (thank goodness), and even though friends and other dealerships have tried to convince me to switch to a Toyota or Honda, I've remained loyal to Nissan. Nissan has always been loyal to me and my family, providing excellent customer service and addressing any minor issues with the car. I purchased my last Nissan Sentra, a 2014 model, straight off the showroom floor with no down payment, and I absolutely love it! Unfortunately, due to some family health issues, I now need to purchase an SUV. I'm considering the Nissan Kicks, but I'm not sure if I can afford a car note at this time with all the health issues going on. Overall, I love Nissan Sentras - they are loyal, safe, great on mileage, and comfortable vehicles. After five years, my car only has 44,825 miles on it - yippee! I have the base model of the 2014 Sentra, and I was surprised when I discovered it didn't have cruise control. This feature is important to me as I use the tollway and often go on long trips. However, I have made some upgrades to my car, such as interior accent lighting, upgraded LED exterior and interior lighting, rear speakers and stereo with backup camera and navigation from my phone to the interior monitor. I have to say that I have fallen in love with my vehicle even more now that I have put my personal touch on it! Throughout the whole process of purchasing and maintaining my vehicle, I have received excellent service. I am very happy with my vehicle thus far! Keep up the great work, Nissan of St. Charles IL!

In August 2014, I purchased a Nissan Sentra. Although it has presented several issues, including a rattle noise from the engine compartment, the check engine light coming on twice, and the passenger airbag not turning on at times, I am confident in the car's overall quality. Despite the dealer's inability to identify any problems, I remain certain that my Nissan Sentra is a reliable and worthwhile investment.

A few smaller things first. I noticed that the front seat headrests are very awkward and do not adjust. Additionally, the car idles very erratically, whether using the AC or not. I also found that the back seat is very uncomfortable with two adults. My wife and I bought a 2014 NEW in 2015 for her to have dependable transportation, but unfortunately, we experienced some issues. The car tends to over rev in any situation, making it difficult to pull out and pass. Furthermore, the CVT transmission is not suitable for driving in high wind, snow or rain, which can be a hazard. It drives and rides like a go-cart, which may not be everyone's preference. We decided to trade it in after 10 months and were disappointed at the lost value. Although we paid 22k for it, we could barely get 9k 10 months later with only 6k miles on it. However, we were able to trade it in for a Honda Accord with another version of the CVT type transmissions and the difference was night and day. Honda has a handle on the new technology and doesn't bulk sell their vehicles to rental car agencies and the like! We noticed that the longer we drove the Nissan, the worse the transmission seemed to get. It's worth checking last year's Blue Book to see the lost value as soon as you pull it from the lot, losing more than half its value.

Hey there! Have you tried checking out Carfax and working with honest dealers? I had a not-so-great experience with Dan Goben's, so I won't be buying a car from them again. Also, I noticed that the shocks aren't great on certain roads and it can be difficult to stop in the snow or get over drifts. I actually got stuck already this year! Just wanted to give you a heads up.

I have been driving my 2013 Nissan Sentra for over a year now, but unfortunately, I have not had the best experience with it. Whenever there is a strong gust of wind, I find myself gripping the steering wheel tightly. Even driving at 40 mph feels too fast and I have to turn on my flashers to let other drivers know.
