Nissan Quest 2016 problems
The Nissan Quest is a minivan manufactured and marketed by Nissan for model years 1993–2017 over four generations.
The first two generations (internally designated V40 and V41) of the Quest were short-wheelbase models co-developed and manufactured with Ford, aside its badge engineered Mercury Villager. For model year 2004 and the third generation (V42), Nissan ended its joint venture with Ford, manufacturing the Quest on its own. For model year 2011, the fourth generation (RE52) became a widened variant of the Nissan Elgrand minivan and was now manufactured in Japan. For the preceding generations, the Quest loosely shared its chassis and powertrain with the Nissan Maxima.
Following the decline of minivan sales in North America, Nissan ended sales of the Quest after the 2017 model year.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

- VIN: JN8AE2KP2G9
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: Car need transmission replaced - there is no warning on car that transmission is having major issues (ie no check engine light). My car shakes on turning this has been on going since I purchased the car in 2017. In late 2023 the car did not have as much pick up power like it used to and had a whining noise once you drive for a while (without the power it used to). There were no check engine light warning to date. On 1/12/24 I used auto zone engine diagnostic and following error codes came up - P17FO - CVT JUDDER P17F2 -JUDDER T/C inspection Diagnostic at AAMCO ON 3/25/24 show additional issues that don’t show any warning signs eg check engine light PER AAMCO additional issues: Engine missing cylinder 3,4; and cylinder 1 is misfiring. Transmission juddering around 2nd gear, chain slipping under pressure…transmission having internal mechanical failure. I am not sure if these issues are serious enough to show as check engine. If they should I don’t know why my car check engine light is not on?
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-07-24
- VIN: JN8AE2KPXG9

- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Quest. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 MPH, the contact shifted the CVT transmission into low (L) manually. The contact stated that the vehicle began to vibrate and then began to shake the entire vehicle. The contact removed his foot from the accelerator pedal and started to tap the brakes. The contact stated that the vehicle started to shake more violently while slowing down. The contact stopped the vehicle and felt resistance from the shift lever while attempting to shift the vehicle into park (P). The contact stated that the check engine warning light momentarily illuminated, but then turned off. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but had reoccurred without manually shifting gear. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who scanned the vehicle and retrieved DTC code: P17F1 (CVT Judder). The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 136,022.
SUSPENSION PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-08-17
- VIN: JN8AE2KP4G9
- Components: SUSPENSION
- Summary: The control arms on the vehicle malfunctioned and had to be replaced. I typically lost control of steering causing the vehicle to jerk in one direction or the other. This was repaired almost a year ago. I had the vehicle serviced at a independent service center. It could have possible caused an accident had I not been able to counteract the loss of steering. I am currently experiencing this same issue again and was notified in May 2023 that the control arms have once again malfunctioned. There are no warning lights for this issue, I noticed it when the car seemed to need a front end alignment but once I took it to the shop they confirmed that the control arms had malfunctioned. I researched this issue and saw that there was a recall of these exact same parts for 2016 Nissan Quest vehicles used as emergency vehicles. I am concerned that this is some sort of on going issue, that is costing $1600 + on every repair.

- Summary: I HAVE A 2016 NISSAN QUEST. IT SNOWED LAST NIGHT, AND A PIECE OF ICE GOT STUCK IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE AND KEPT THE HANDLE SLIGHTLY AJAR. BECAUSE OF THIS, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN USING THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE. I HAD TO UNROLL THE WINDOW, AND PUSH THE EXTERIOR HANDLE BACK TO ITS NORMAL POSITION BEFORE THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE WOULD OPEN THE DOOR. I AM GRAVELY CONCERNED ABOUT THE DESIGN OF THE DOOR LATCH MECHANISM. IT WOULD BE LOGICAL THAT THE INTERIOR HANDLE SHOULD OVERRIDE ANY STATE THE THAT THE EXTERIOR HANDLE IS IN (FOR EXAMPLE, IF THE EXTERIOR HANDLE WAS DAMAGED IN AN ACCIDENT) AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with the Nissan Quest that I purchased back in February. I'm happy to report that so far, I haven't had any problems with it! It continues to ride smoothly and comfortably, and the interior is still as nice as ever. I really enjoy the luxury feel of it. The performance and handling are good, and it's still fun to drive. Overall, I think it's a great value for what you pay. The only thing I would mention is that the third row seats seem a little low for the average adult to sit comfortably. But other than that, I'm really happy with my purchase and would definitely consider another Nissan vehicle in the future.

FINALLY: Space and fuel efficiency come together. My family finally decided to get a spacious car that we're really happy with. It's much better than our old Subaru Outback. With an average of 21 MPG and enough room to comfortably carry 7 adults, it's perfect for our needs. Plus, it looks great too! I'm really pleased with this car and I hope it lasts.

The car does not have a heated steering wheel, but it is still a good and spacious vehicle.

The van is absolutely fantastic! The interior design is outstanding, and it's so comfortable to ride in. I especially love the storage well in the rear floor - it's the perfect size for my electric cart. Getting in and out is a breeze, and the seats are super comfy. The big windows all around the van provide great visibility. The only downside is that the gas mileage is a bit lower than expected. At around 14,000 miles, I had to replace the tires - the dealer paid for two and I paid for two. It turns out there was a defect in the tires, which caused them to wear down too quickly. Despite that, at 30,000 miles, I still love the van. I'm just disappointed that Nissan has discontinued the Quest. So far, I haven't had any problems with the van - all I've done is have the oil changed every 3,000 miles. Even at 36,000 miles, I still love the van, although it's starting to show some wear and tear. The rubber trim/seal around the nameplate on the entry on the floor is coming loose, and there's a small rip/tear on the armrest in the center console area. But overall, I'm still very pleased with the van. If Nissan had continued making the Quest, I would have traded this one in. However, I'm just hanging on to this one because there's nothing on the market today that offers the same features for the price. I looked at and seriously considered a Ford Explorer, Ford Flex, and Toyota van, but they're all too expensive. As of 31st July 2018, with just over 40,000 miles, I still love this van!! I haven't had any serious problems with it in 5 years of driving. The only thing I'm disappointed in, other than the few minor interior issues I mentioned earlier, is the gas mileage. I wish I got closer to the estimated EPA mileage. But overall, there's not too much to complain about. At the moment, the van is in the body shop to repair a bit of side swipe damage to the passenger side rear panel. Some gentleman decided that merging onto the bridge didn't mean 'Yield' despite the signs. I managed to almost get by him. I'm currently driving a loaner, a 2018 Chevy Equinox, which is a bit of a letdown. It has too much road noise and is difficult to get in and out of - I have to go in head first and then drag my legs in. As of February 23, 2019, I'm approaching 42,000 miles on the van. Surprisingly, I need new tires again. The original tires were replaced at 14,000 miles, so after only 28,000 miles, I'm down to 4/32 tread, which means it's time to think about new tires. I'm not sure what the mileage rating was on the Firestone tires the dealer used to replace the original tires. As of August 27, 2019, I still love the van. I've been looking for something a bit newer since this one is now 6 years old. I'm surprised and disappointed in the low value, despite the low mileage. I've been considering a Dodge Grand Caravan, but so far, I haven't found the right one. The van is still running like new with no issues or maintenance expenses. Let's keep it that way.

The 2015 Nissan Quest is an excellent choice for those in need of a spacious minivan. With enough room for up to 6 passengers, or 4 adults and 3 children, it provides ample space for all. The interior is well-appointed with leather and wood accents across the dashboard, giving it a luxurious feel. The ride and handling are both rock solid, making for a comfortable and enjoyable driving experience. Additionally, the van comes equipped with a backup camera, which is a great feature for a vehicle of this size. Overall, I have been extremely satisfied with my Nissan Quest, having driven it for two and a half years with no maintenance issues, aside from regular oil changes and tire rotations. It is a well-built and reliable vehicle that I highly recommend.

I recently purchased a 2013 Nissan Quest LE, which was fully loaded with all the bells and whistles. Although I am still paying for it, it has only accumulated 47K miles. Unfortunately, I have been experiencing some issues with it since day one. The tires seem to wear out much quicker than any other car I have owned, and the brake pads have needed to be replaced multiple times, even though I use it less than my previous cars. Additionally, the AC has a strange mold smell to it, despite our efforts to clean it and replace the filters every month. We even tried an ozone treatment, but the smell persists. When I contacted Nissan about the issue, they offered to pay for the part, but I would have to pay over $400 worth of labor. I was disappointed that they would not take care of the problem 100%, especially since they placed a cheap plastic dashboard on my $50K vehicle. Although I am disappointed with my experience, I understand that every car manufacturer has its own set of issues. I will consider other car makers that value their reputation and consumers in the future.

I bought a brand new Nissan Quest and we really enjoyed it until the AC compressor stopped working at 70,000 miles. Although technically out of warranty, it was too early to expect a $1000 repair. I contacted Nissan One and asked if they would stand behind their product since it still had relatively low miles. They requested a Nissan garage to look at the problem before they could say. The local garage had already diagnosed the problem, but Nissan wanted to charge me $100 to do so. After spending a long morning waiting at the dealership, I sent Nissan the information, but unfortunately, they declined to help cover the $1000 bill for the repairs without providing any apparent reason. While it may be unfair to fault them since it wasn't under warranty, I would have preferred a company that stands behind their product better and doesn't cost a fortune before hitting the 100,000 mark.

We love the car! It's fully equipped. However, we wanted to share our experience with the CVT Transmission. We've noticed some slipping with our transmission after 90,000 miles. We recommend doing some research before purchasing a Nissan with a CVT Transmission, as we've heard similar stories from others. Thank you for considering our experience!
