2000 Nissan Quest problems
The Nissan Quest is a minivan manufactured and marketed by Nissan for model years 1993–2017 over four generations.
The first two generations (internally designated V40 and V41) of the Quest were short-wheelbase models co-developed and manufactured with Ford, aside its badge engineered Mercury Villager. For model year 2004 and the third generation (V42), Nissan ended its joint venture with Ford, manufacturing the Quest on its own. For model year 2011, the fourth generation (RE52) became a widened variant of the Nissan Elgrand minivan and was now manufactured in Japan. For the preceding generations, the Quest loosely shared its chassis and powertrain with the Nissan Maxima.
Following the decline of minivan sales in North America, Nissan ended sales of the Quest after the 2017 model year.

Common 2000 Nissan Quest problems
The Nissan Quest 2000 has been known to have several common problems based on complaints from its owners. One of the most significant issues is related to the engine, with drivers reporting a no-start condition or the engine stalling. This problem is primarily caused by a failed distributor shaft, which plays a crucial role in distributing the spark to the spark plugs. When the distributor fails, it can lead to difficulties in cranking the engine and unpredictable starting behavior.
Another issue reported by owners is related to the airbag deployment system. Faulty airbag modules and bad passenger seat occupancy sensors have been known to cause improper airbag deployment, which can be a serious safety concern. However, Nissan addressed this issue in a 2004 recall, so it is essential to check if an older Nissan Quest has gone through this recall before purchasing.
The transmission is another problematic area for the Nissan Quest 2000. Some drivers have reported rough shifts and stalling, which can be inconvenient and potentially dangerous. Additionally, there have been reports of premature wear in the braking components, which can lead to more frequent repairs and higher maintenance costs.
The paint quality of the Nissan Quest 2000 has also been a point of contention for some owners. Some have reported peeling paint, which can detract from the car's appearance and potentially lead to further issues with rust and corrosion if not addressed promptly.
Lastly, the engine oil pan, or sump, is known to be susceptible to hitting the ground and leaking due to its proximity to the ground. This issue can be more prevalent in areas with rough roads, and it is essential to address it promptly to prevent further damage to the engine.
In summary, the Nissan Quest 2000 has several common problems related to the engine, transmission, airbag deployment system, braking components, and paint quality. While these issues can be concerning, it is essential to note that many of them have been addressed through recalls or can be mitigated with proper maintenance and repairs.

POSITIVE FEEDBACK: THE ENTIRE FRONT END, ENGINE, BATTERY, ETC. COMPACTED INTO A PANCAKE, BUT THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT HAD ONLY A SMALL BUCKLE ON THE FLOOR BOARD AT THE PEDALS. THE ENGINE WAS CRUSHED. THIS WAS A DEFINITE POSITIVE. (UNRELATED TO ACCIDENT COMPLAINT ABOVE: THE EXTERIOR HANDLES OF THE SLIDING DOORS WERE REPLACED TWICE. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW AND WHY THIS HAPPENS, THIS KIND OF CAR SUPPOSED TO SERVE FOR MUCH LONGER THAN THAT, IT HAS ONLY 135K MILE ON IT. MANY PEOPLE TOLD ME THAT COULD BE DUE TO MALFUNCTION OR DEFECT IN MANUFACTURE. I FIELD THIS COMPLAINS AND WISH THERE WILL BE INVESTIGATION IN THIS INCIDENT SO NOBODY COULD HAVE THE SAME EXPERIENCE OR WORST. THANKS GOD I AM SAFE WITH MY CHILDREN BUT I LOST MY VAN. *TR

THE BREAKS WERE TOO HARD AND FAILED TO STOP THE CAR UNTIL IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. THE MECHANIC FOUND THE ORIGIN OF THE PROBLEM IN A FAULTY CRUISE CONTROL. EVENTUALLY THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP DISCONNECTED THE CRUISE CONTROL. THIS HAPPENED LAST WEEK AND SO FAR I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED ANY OTHER PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP BELIEVES THAT THIS WAS A FAILURE OF AN ELECTRONIC COMPONENT AS A NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I DISAGREE, SINCE THE PROBLEM ALSO CAUSED THE MOTOR MOUNTS TO CRACK AND I HAD TO REPAIR THOSE. *TR

I really like the Quest! Although we've had a few minor glitches since purchasing it used, such as the TV/VCR being a bit troublesome at times and the brake pedal sometimes making a strange noise (I've already had this looked at, but the noise came back again), overall it has been a great van for our family of five.
-
This car drives great and has lots of creature comforts, like rear heating, air conditioning, and a power sunroof.
-
My husband and I test drove several minivans when we were looking for one and ended up choosing the Quest for its comfort and handling. I absolutely love it! I have always owned a Nissan and I strongly believe that they are the best choice. In my opinion, Nissan cars hold their value and are extremely reliable. If you want a trustworthy and dependable vehicle, stick with Nissan.
-
Positive thoughts: This vehicle has great gas mileage, is comfortable and spacious, and comes with good features. It's also easy to work on when changing spark plugs, especially when compared to other minivans. Negative thoughts: However, it's worth noting that there may be some knock sensor problems that are difficult and expensive to fix if you take it to a mechanic. Additionally, the motor mounts may wear out every 6 months or sooner if you drive it on a daily basis.
-
I have owned my Quest for almost two years now and I absolutely love it! The van is an amazing deal, as we were able to get all the features we wanted, including the invaluable entertainment center. We have taken several long trips in our van and my husband, who is quite tall, never complains about being uncomfortable. The kids are entertained throughout the entire trip and the rear air conditioning has been wonderful! We have had nothing but positive experiences with Nissan vehicles and their warranty is top-notch. I fully expect to purchase another Quest when we are ready for something new.

The front end of the vehicle always seems to be falling apart, with constant noise and the need for replacement of tires, brakes, CV joints, struts, and more. We've spent several thousand dollars on front end work at the dealership, only to continue experiencing the same problems. The noise is a horrible creak that sounds like the front end is falling off, and it's even drawn stares from people when we pull up in a drive-thru! Unfortunately, the TV/VCR broke in the first year and the dealer refused to replace or fix it, despite it being a factory TV/VCR. If you're considering buying one of these, be prepared to spend a lot of money on tires and brakes. After researching, we found out that this is due to the vehicle being built on a car chassis instead of a truck chassis. Needless to say, we can't wait to get rid of it.
Olen Toy 2024-09-24
It seems like the engine is not performing as well as it could be. Despite the dealership's efforts, it still sounds quite rough and can be a bit jerky when accelerating. Additionally, it seems to consume more fuel than expected. We understand how frustrating this can be and we would like to help you find a solution.
Brice Kilback 2024-09-19
It's great to hear that the vehicle gets good mileage, averaging about 20-22 mpg. However, it's unfortunate to hear about the little interior problems such as the entertainment center and front cup holder ratchet breaking after only 1 1/2 years, and the door handle chrome paint peeling on both sides. It's also a shame that you've had to replace one fuel injector and constantly clean them due to the service engine soon light blinking for short periods and the idle going very rough. I hope these issues get resolved soon!
Kelton Beatty 2024-09-14
Hi Nissan, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share some feedback with you regarding my experience with your minivan. While I have owned and loved many Nissan cars in the past, I have to say that I was a bit disappointed with this particular model. I believe that with some upgrades, it could be just as excellent as your other vehicles. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my thoughts.
Hans Wolf 2024-07-01
As we approach 30K, I've been surprised by the number of minor issues we've encountered. We've already had to replace the entertainment system, and it looks like it may need replacing again. Additionally, we've had to replace a couple of cup holders and latches. On top of that, I'm only getting 15-18 mpg, which is worse than my '94 Plymouth Grand Voyager! Given the $24,000 price tag, I was hoping for more. However, we haven't had any issues with the engine yet.
