The Nissan Pathfinder is a range of sport utility vehicles manufactured by Nissan since 1986. Until the third-generation model, the Pathfinder is based on Nissan's compact pickup truck platform which it shares with the Navara/Frontier. The front end of the D21 (first generation) and R51 (third generation) Pathfinder is notably identical with the Navara/Frontier up until the B-pillars.

THERE WAS A EXTREMELY LARGE HOLE BEING THE WHEEL AREA. LOOKING FURTHER IT WAS NOTED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS RUBBING AGAINST A PART OF THE ENGINE AREA. THAT EXPLAINS THE RUBBING SOUND AND DIFFUCULTY TURNING THE WHEEL. IT WAS ALSO NOTED THAT THE SUSPENSION WAS ROTTED AND THAT THE ENGINE MEASURED AROUND 2 INCHES LOWER AS IT WAS LEANING ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. I WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT THE DAMAGE WAS SO EXTENSIVE THAT IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THERE WASN'T ANY METAL AVAILABLE UNDER THE TRUCK TO EVEN WELD ANY REINFORCEMENT TO. THE TRUCK WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND TO TAKE IT TO NISSAN. WE NEVER WENT ANY FURTHER WITH AN INSPECTION OF THE PASSENGER SIDE ECT. I DID TAKE IT TO NISSAN IN THE AFTERNOON AND WAS CALLED THE FOLLOWING MORNING AND TOLD MY TRUCK WAS FIXED. I HAVE ONLY OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR A YEAR AND A HALF AND THERE IS NO WAY THAT IT RUSTED THIS BAD TO CAUSE THE FRAME TO BREAK.     I think you've got yourself a great riding truck! I bought it after trying an Envoy. The LE has a better suspension than the SE, so it's set up to give a luxury ride. Don't expect lots of power, but the gas mileage is not really that bad compared to the 2001 models.

    Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to check in and share an update on my car. It passed 100K a month ago and I haven't had to put any money into it lately, which is great news! Back in 2007-2008, I did have to invest about $2500 into it for some repairs, including new wheel bearings, a new pulley, new timing belt and water pump, new exhaust, sway bar bushings, and a differential fluid change. It was a lot of money for two years, but considering it hadn't really needed much until it got to be about 7 years old and had 80K on it or so, I think that's pretty good. Any old car is going to need repairs, right? Oh, and now that I'm retired, I've realized that the gas mileage isn't the best, haha! All those years I was driving mostly highway and getting 16, but now it's all suburban and 11. How's your day going?

    Hi there! Our car is a plain Jane XE. We bought it new and it now has 144,000 miles on it. We've taken good care of it over the years, with regular maintenance such as a new timing chain and water pump at 105k, new struts at 130k, and some brake work (although I can't quite remember what exactly). We used to change the oil every 3000 miles until 99k, but now we use Mobil one 15,000 mile oil and change it every 10k - and it doesn't seem to burn any! Honestly, I'd feel comfortable driving it across the country tomorrow. Thanks for asking!

    I've owned my Nissan Pathfinder for almost three years now, and I must say that I'm thoroughly impressed. The SUV handles like a dream, providing a ride as comfortable as a Cadillac or Buick, and it has had no issues whatsoever. While the gas mileage isn't great, I was aware of that when I purchased it. Overall, this is a luxurious SUV for its year. I plan to drive it until it can't be driven anymore, which I don't see happening for a long time. When the time comes, I'll definitely be purchasing another one.

    Great SUV and a great look on the road! Although it was underpowered for 2000, they fixed that in later years. The rear springs are a bit light for holding anything heavy in the back, but it seems to have held its value VERY well, especially considering all the rebates we got on it. All in all, it's a great SUV!
