2021 Nissan Armada problems
The Nissan Armada (retrospectively referred to unofficially as the Nissan Pathfinder Armada) is a full-size SUV manufactured by Nissan for the North American market. From 2003 to 2015, the first-generation Armada was assembled in Canton, Mississippi based on the Nissan Titan. From mid-2016 onwards, the second-generation Armada has been built in Yukuhashi, Kyushu, Japan and shares the same platform as the Nissan Patrol, with American-specific modifications, and went on sale in late mid-2016 as a 2017 model. A luxury version of the Armada has been sold as the Infiniti QX80 (originally QX56).
First generation (TA60; 2004)
The 2004 model Pathfinder Armada was unveiled on April 17, 2003, at the New York International Auto Show. Developed under Carlos Ghosn's NRP (Nissan Revival Plan), development was done in September 1999 to 2003 under lead designers Shiro Nakamura and Diane Allen and chief engineers Yuzo Sakita and Larry Dominique. In January 2001, a final exterior design by Giovanny Arroba had been approved by Sakita, Allen, Nakamura, and Nissan executive management, with the final design freeze being completed in July 2001. It is assigned the platform code TA60.
Prototypes based on the Y61 Patrol were hand-assembled as mules from 2001, with the first TA60-specific prototypes being completed and sent to testing in early 2002. Design patents were filed in 2003, with production starting on August 14, 2003, and going on sale on October 1, 2003.
The Armada had a 5.6 L VK56DE V8 engine that made 305 hp (227 kW) and 385 lb⋅ft (522 N⋅m) of torque. This was mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission, and the Armada had a choice of either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. There are some Armadas that are capable of using E85. It has a towing capacity of up to 9,000 lb (4,000 kg).
The rear door handles are installed on the "C" pillar as part of a Nissan design tradition that started with the 1986 Nissan Pathfinder. When the four-door Pathfinder was introduced, Nissan chose to conceal the door handles as a part of the "C" pillar trim to visually make it appear like a two-door truck with a camper shell, with conventional door handles on the front doors.
The switch to the Armada name occurred in September 2004 for the 2005 model year, where it received new badges without "Pathfinder." The 2005 model year also included a backup camera.

- Summary: I purchased this vehicle about a month ago and when trying to activate the Nissan Connect Services to get the advanced safety and convivence features I was told that I cannot do so because the Armada is a Canadian vehicle. The SUV I purchased in USA was built for Canada and the connect service that does some of the security and convenience features will not work because of the cell service built in to the SUV will not work in the USA and Nissan does not have a part replacement to make it work. I have contacted Nissan USA and Nissan Canada and keep getting the run around and each pointing at the other to try to get it resolved. I was finally told that there is not option to replace parts to make the features work in the US. If a car is built for one country and the safety features will not work in another country then it should be illegal to sell those cars across boarders. I now have a $70k that does not give me the advanced safety and convenience services that is advertised to have. I have looked any many Nissan websites and do not find anywhere that these features will not work and I do not know anyone that when buying a car asks where it was manufactured. I am also told that since this is a Canada VIN I could have issues getting recall notifications in the US. I am not sure if that is true as I don't think that I have any recalls open.

- Summary: I was driving a RENTED 2021 Nissan Armada. The brakes of this vehicle locked up when I was trying to avoid rear ending a car that had suddenly jumped in front of me. Instead of being able to control the braking, once I put the brake on, I tried to let up a little to see if I could stop the vehicle from skidding. However once I put my foot down on the brake it continued to stay depressed. I noticed that the vehicle was sliding and the steering wheel was also locked. I couldn't swerve to the left or right. I hit the van in front of me, the air bags deployed--driver's side air bag broke open and let out noxious gas. I have never driven a vehicle with such AEB troubles. Update: Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my Armada after owning it for 3 years and putting 78,000 miles on it. I did have an issue with it not starting, but it turned out to be a common problem with the sensor at the brake which tells the CPU the brake is engaged for starting. The dealership initially misdiagnosed the issue, but the second time they replaced the sensor and I haven't had any more starting issues since then. Other than that, I haven't had any serious mechanical issues. However, I have found that the navigation and audio controls can be a bit confusing and difficult to navigate. Unfortunately, there's not much that can be done about that since that's how they were designed. I have also noticed that it struggles to start sometimes, even though I had the factory battery checked and it was fine. Overall, I'm now very happy with my Armada! I bought a one-year-old Armada with 35K miles on it and I would give it very high marks for ride, comfort, feeling safe while driving, and just looking good. Although, I do have to admit that the technology controls can be a bit of a hot mess. They're not easy to navigate and are programmed backwards. My SL has the collision avoidance system which works great, but I found it odd that the default setting is off and you have to remember to turn it on every time you start the car. Additionally, the blind spot indicator light is sometimes too dim to see and the chime for the blinker is too low to hear. Unfortunately, neither of these are adjustable from what I could find. Lastly, I did have an issue with the car not starting many times, but it turned out to be an issue with the electronics, electric control unit, or brake sensor. I had to have it towed to the dealer twice, but they were able to fix the issue. Despite these minor issues, I still highly recommend the Armada for its ride, comfort, and safety features.I have been experiencing some issues with my vehicle where it sometimes fails to start. It can be quite stressful when I need to stop for gas or leave work, as I am worried about getting stranded. I have been documenting these issues and considering legal action if the problem is not resolved. I believe this is a common problem with newer Armadas or Q56's, as I have seen similar complaints online. Despite this issue, I would rate the vehicle a 3.5 or 4 if it were not for the starting problem.

Gas mileage isn't great, but it runs on regular gas and gets 20 on the highway. The cabin is very quiet, the ride is unbelievably smooth, and there's tons of power from the engine without any turbo. I would definitely buy another one!

My wife and I recently purchased the Armada, and we couldn't be happier with our decision. The SUV is spacious, luxurious, and has a large cargo area. The ride is smooth and powerful, and we were pleasantly surprised by how quiet the interior is. While it may not have as many features as some of its competitors, the Armada is well worth the price and has all the options that most buyers need. We highly recommend it!

This is a great SUV. First time ever you have purchased anything but a Chevrolet, but it was the best decision you have made. Much smoother ride and absolutely beautiful vehicle. Never have you had so many people ask about this vehicle - very sharp and great ride.

I have owned my 2019 Armada SV for almost 2 years now. While it's not my favorite car, it has some good qualities. The ride is smooth and comfortable, and the rear legroom is impressive. The car also has a powerful V8 engine. However, there are some downsides. The cargo area is smaller than expected, and the entertainment center is not very user-friendly. It's also missing some features like Apple Carplay or Android carplay. Additionally, the steering wheel controls could be improved for safety. The car has some cosmetic issues like paint chips and rust spots, but these are minor. Overall, the Armada SV is a decent car with some room for improvement.NissanConnect's remote start and window control features are only available on higher-end models, and the service costs between $12-$24 per month. The collision sensors may occasionally chirp without cause, but the dealer has been unable to replicate the issue. The cruise control system can be overly sensitive on curves and hills, causing the car to accelerate and brake frequently, which can be frustrating for other drivers. The resale value of the Armada is not as high as some other vehicles, and it may have dropped significantly in the first few years of ownership. We recently purchased a used 2020 Armada with low mileage and only one previous owner. Unfortunately, we have encountered some issues with the vehicle. The engine has been making a strange noise that the dealership has been unable to explain, and the gas mileage has not been as good as we had hoped. Additionally, we have been experiencing some rattling in one of the seats, which we have tried to fix several times. We have also had some electrical issues, such as the driver's side no longer unlocking using the touch option and the touch screen glitching and moving around without being touched. Furthermore, we have noticed that the navigation maps are outdated, with some streets and businesses no longer present from several years before 2020. Despite these issues, we remain hopeful that we can resolve them and enjoy our Armada to its fullest potential.

I recently rented a full-size SUV from one of the large rental companies for a week-long trip that was over 1800 miles total. The company listed full-size SUV vehicles as Ford Expedition or 'similar'. When I went to pick up my rental, they had a new Armada for me. Although it got us there and back, that's about where it ended. None of the vehicles in that class have stellar fuel economy, but the Armada is the worst. It averaged 16 mpg on the highway. The steering is terrible, and it's a constant fight to keep it in the lane. Not to mention that the thing jams on the brakes if it thinks you are too close to another car, which can be dangerous on a highway when you're trying to pass or change lanes. The seats are also uncomfortable. I've made road trips three times as long and have never hurt so bad after a few hours behind the wheel. The middle row seats didn't recline and sat so upright they almost felt like sitting against a wall. The cargo area is a nightmare to load, especially if you lower the 3rd row for more space. Lowering the 3rd is electric and takes about forever for them to go all the way down. The rear bumper sticks out so far it's nearly impossible to reach in unless you're 6'8'. The nav and stereo system are also poorly laid out. Overall, I would politely decline if your rental company offers you an Armada and definitely RUN if a car dealer tries to sell you one.

I also own a 2019 and have had issues with it not starting, like a lot of people. I've owned it for 6 months and feel like I've been ripped off. I'm not happy with it breaking down, especially since it's a newer car.

I made a financial decision that I regretted. I owned a car for three months, but I should have sold it sooner. The gas consumption was very high, with only 250 miles per 26 gallons. In comparison, my 2007 Nissan Armada was much better. I recommend that you avoid making the same mistake I did. There are many other cars available on the market. Unfortunately, the customer service hotline was not helpful. I spoke to two representatives, but they did not seem to understand basic math. Despite this, I was able to find a better car. I recently purchased a 2021 Suburban, and it is much better than the Armada.
