2000 Lincoln Town car problems
The Lincoln Town Car is a model line of full-size luxury sedans that was marketed by the Lincoln division of the American automaker Ford Motor Company. Deriving its name from a limousine body style, Lincoln marketed the Town Car from 1981 to 2011, with the nameplate previously serving as the flagship trim of the Lincoln Continental. Produced across three generations for thirty model years, the Town Car was marketed directly against luxury sedans from Cadillac and Chrysler.
Marketed nearly exclusively as a four-door sedan (a two-door sedan was offered for 1981 only), many examples of the Town Car were used for fleet and livery (limousine) service. From 1983 to its 2011 discontinuation, the Town Car was the longest car produced by Ford worldwide, becoming the longest mass-production car sold in North America from 1997 to 2011. While not a direct successor of the Town Car, the Lincoln MKS would become the longest American sedan until 2016 (overtaken by the Cadillac CT6).
From 1980 until 2007, the Lincoln Town Car was assembled in Wixom, Michigan, (Wixom Assembly) alongside the Lincoln Continental, LS, and Mark VI, VII, and VIII. After Wixom's closure, Town Car production moved to Southwold, Ontario, (St. Thomas Assembly) alongside the similar Ford Crown Victoria and the Mercury Grand Marquis. The final Lincoln Town Car was produced on August 29, 2011.
Within the Lincoln model line, the Town Car was not directly replaced; the nameplate was used from 2012 to 2019 to denote livery/limousine/hearse variants of the Lincoln MKT. For 2017, the revived Continental replaced the MKS, closely matching the Town Car in wheelbase and width.

The intake manifold is a crucial part of the engine, responsible for distributing the air-fuel mixture to the engine cylinders. A cracked intake manifold can lead to engine performance issues, such as reduced power, poor fuel efficiency, and increased emissions.
Faulty Air Suspension
Another common problem with the 2000 Lincoln Town Car is its faulty air suspension, which may cause the car to sag. This issue has been reported by many owners, and it can lead to several problems, such as reduced ground clearance, poor handling, and decreased ride quality. When it fails, the car may accelerate or brake unintentionally, causing several safety issues.
Poor Acceleration
The 2000 Lincoln Town Car has also been reported to have poor acceleration issues, which can be very annoying for drivers. This issue can be caused by several factors, such as faulty components, transmission issues, exhaust problems, and engine issues. When the car's acceleration is poor, it may hesitate or lose power, making it difficult to drive and reducing its performance.
A/C (Air Conditioning) Problems
The 2000 Lincoln Town Car has also been reported to have A/C problems, which can become very severe, leading to total component failure. This issue can be caused by several factors, such as leaks, faulty components, and electrical issues. When the A/C fails, it can make the car uncomfortable to drive, especially during hot weather.
In conclusion, the 2000 Lincoln Town Car, like any other vehicle, has its share of problems and issues. These issues can range from minor annoyances to major safety concerns, affecting the car's performance, safety, and comfort. This car is incredibly spacious and can comfortably fit up to six people, as well as plenty of luggage. It also boasts an extra smooth ride and good fuel efficiency, with up to 26 mpg on the highway. The powerplant is extremely reliable and has never failed to start. We recently hit 100k miles and had an issue with the air suspension, but we quickly resolved it by converting to a standard coil spring setup for about half the price. We've only had to replace a couple sets of brakes and tires in nearly 10 years of ownership. Surprisingly, it has been more reliable than our relatives' foreign-made cars, such as the Accord and Maxima. They are in the process of replacing their cars, but we'll just keep enjoying the safety and roomy comfort of our RWD American luxury car. It truly is unbeatable for reliability.

I will never purchase another Ford car again. I was not aware that Lincoln town cars were manufactured by Ford. Although I love the luxury of the car, it is disappointing that everything leaks, including rain inside the car. It is unacceptable that this issue has not been recalled. The manufacturers should have been aware of this issue before selling these cars.

The 2000 Lincoln Town Car may not be everyone's cup of tea. Some people may prefer the 1988, 1990, and 1996 models, which were superior in every way. However, it's important to note that the 2000 Town Car is still a quality vehicle, even if it's not to everyone's taste. While it may share some similarities with lower-end Fords, it still offers a comfortable and enjoyable driving experience. Ultimately, whether or not to purchase a 2000 Lincoln Town Car is a matter of personal preference.

This is a great road car for comfort. However, there is some wind noise that can be unbearable from around the front windows where the door meets the windshield pillar. On the bright side, this car has excellent gasoline mileage for a car of this stature. The ride can be unduly rough on anything other than smooth pavement.

The finish and decor of Ford products are typically top-notch. While Lincoln cars are great, you can also own a Ford (e.g., Crown Vic) for a much more affordable price! The airbag system can be problematic, but the dealer has made many attempts to fix it. Unfortunately, they state that this is a common issue with all Town cars. The gas mileage is average for a vehicle of this size. The depreciation rate is unacceptable for this type of vehicle. The ride can be a bit boaty, but overall it's still a comfortable experience. While we opted for a Ford this time, we may consider a Cadillac for our next purchase.
