2006 Lincoln Town car problems
The Lincoln Town Car is a model line of full-size luxury sedans that was marketed by the Lincoln division of the American automaker Ford Motor Company. Deriving its name from a limousine body style, Lincoln marketed the Town Car from 1981 to 2011, with the nameplate previously serving as the flagship trim of the Lincoln Continental. Produced across three generations for thirty model years, the Town Car was marketed directly against luxury sedans from Cadillac and Chrysler.
Marketed nearly exclusively as a four-door sedan (a two-door sedan was offered for 1981 only), many examples of the Town Car were used for fleet and livery (limousine) service. From 1983 to its 2011 discontinuation, the Town Car was the longest car produced by Ford worldwide, becoming the longest mass-production car sold in North America from 1997 to 2011. While not a direct successor of the Town Car, the Lincoln MKS would become the longest American sedan until 2016 (overtaken by the Cadillac CT6).
From 1980 until 2007, the Lincoln Town Car was assembled in Wixom, Michigan, (Wixom Assembly) alongside the Lincoln Continental, LS, and Mark VI, VII, and VIII. After Wixom's closure, Town Car production moved to Southwold, Ontario, (St. Thomas Assembly) alongside the similar Ford Crown Victoria and the Mercury Grand Marquis. The final Lincoln Town Car was produced on August 29, 2011.
Within the Lincoln model line, the Town Car was not directly replaced; the nameplate was used from 2012 to 2019 to denote livery/limousine/hearse variants of the Lincoln MKT. For 2017, the revived Continental replaced the MKS, closely matching the Town Car in wheelbase and width.

- Summary: When braking to stop there was sudden acceleration that braking could not control resulting in hitting the rear of a stopped car in front of me. This has happened in the past with no warning. It usually happens when braking, but not always. I have had the car to a Ford dealership twice with this problem. They claim they can find nothing wrong with the car. I took it into them today after this incident. They would not even look at the car. Said that Ford had no bulletins on this and said that I was on mu own. I see online that there has been a class action lawsuit against Ford about this. This could be a life-threatening problem. What do I do?

You're in for a treat with the town car! I've tried them all, and it beats the deville, avalon, 300c, and any other car that can compare.

This car is truly a commuter's dream! I drive from Scranton to NYC daily and I must say that the Lincoln Town Car is the best car for commuting ever. I have had other cars, but nothing compares to it. For the price I paid, and the fact that any garage anywhere can do a quick service on it without any difficulty, it is perfect for me. I love the ride, which is perfect for navigating NYC potholes. Even with 200,000 miles on it, everything still works perfectly. No problems at all!
-
This is a great vehicle. Horsepower is there when you need it. Interior is very quiet and comfortable. No complaints!
-
Roomy, comfortable, and quiet - this is the best luxury car I have ever owned! I've previously owned Cadillacs, Lexuses, and Mercedes, but this car beats them all. The only thing I wish is that they would make an all-wood interior.
-
When considering purchasing a car, it's important to focus on the aspects that truly matter, such as ride, reliability, comfort, and safety. In my experience, nothing on the market today surpasses the Lincoln Town Car in these categories. Additionally, the performance, power, and gas mileage are surprisingly excellent. Flashy colors, designs, and styling may catch your eye, but they don't compare to the lasting qualities that truly contribute to buyer's satisfaction. By prioritizing these important factors, you can avoid the disappointment of buyer's remorse. Sincerely, EA: Southern Gentleman - Birmingham, Alabama

Robert Lorenzo knows what he's talking about. I've been having major problems with my Town Car as well. One thing that caught my eye is that the AC really does blow bad odor, which is disgusting. The only thing that stands out about the Town Car is the ride quality, but other than that, there's nothing special here. The gas mileage is horrible, only 17 mpg in city driving, which is not satisfying. I tell you this car is not worth your hard-earned money. I'm not saying this is a bad car, it's just not worth your money.
Marshall Powlowski 2024-06-21
Hi there! I wanted to share my thoughts on my 2000 Town car. It's been a great car with only 10,000 miles on it. I've been considering getting a new one, but after looking at the 2006 model, I don't think I'll be making the switch. The new model doesn't seem to have many changes, and I'm quite happy with my current car. While some foreign luxury cars have more power and speed, I still think my Lincoln is a beautiful car to look at. One thing I would love to see improved is the front and rear leg room. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my Town car and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and reliable ride.
Bertha Hintz 2024-05-05
I really like Lincolns, especially the Town Cars. My father always said they were well-built and comfortable, and he was absolutely right. The ride is fantastic, and it feels like you're being hugged in safety.
Monte Beer 2024-03-02
The air conditioning fan produces excessively loud noises at most speeds, and the seats are uncomfortable, causing passengers to feel every bump, crack, patch, and road anomaly through the floorboards, steering wheel, and seats. In comparison to my previous 2002 Cadillac, the Lincoln does not meet the standards of a luxury car. The suspension appears to have been designed by an ex-Jeep designer, and the gas pedal frequently causes the vehicle to jump from a start position, lacking the smoothness of my previous cars.
