2011 Lincoln Mkz problems

The Lincoln MKZ, is a four-door, five-passenger mid-size luxury sedan manufactured by Ford and marketed as the Zephyr (MY 2006) and as the MKZ (MY 2007–2020) by Ford's Lincoln brand across two generations in both gasoline and hybrid gas/electric models.

Both generations of the MKZ were manufactured at Ford's Hermosillo Stamping & Assembly plant in Mexico. Production ended in 2020 to make way for new Ford vehicles.

First generation (2006–2012)

The 2006 Lincoln Zephyr was initially unveiled in concept form at the 2004 New York International Auto Show, previewing a new entry-level luxury sedan. The front featured Lincoln's signature waterfall grille and jeweled quad projector beam headlights (HID headlights were available). Chrome trim extends along the Zephyr's beltline while the car's rear fascia features LED taillights and dual chrome exhaust tips. All Zephyrs featured low-profile tires on 17x7.5-inch wheels with painted aluminum versions standard and chrome versions optional.

Lincoln officially revived the Zephyr name in the fall of 2005; the vehicles were based on the CD3 platform, which was derived from the Mazda 6. Lincoln had previously used the Zephyr name in the late 1930s for the smaller Lincoln-Zephyr line of mid-size vehicles. The "Zephyr" name had also previously been used by Mercury during the late 1970s and early 1980s, for several vehicles built on the Fox Platform.

The Zephyr's sole powertrain was a 3.0 L DOHC Duratec V6 mated to an Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission; identical to the V6 powertrain that was optional in the Fusion and Milan. The interior is largely unique to the Lincoln, along with different equipment packaging. The 2006 Zephyr started at a base MSRP of $28,995 USD, ranging up to $35,340 USD when fully optioned.

Though slightly smaller and front-wheel drive, the Zephyr was marketed as a replacement for Lincoln's previous entry level mid-size, the rear-wheel drive Lincoln LS. To facilitate a smooth transition, the Zephyr and LS were sold parallel to each other during the 2006 model year, the first model year of the Zephyr and the last for the LS. For 2007 the model was renamed MKZ, and took over the LS' market with sales beginning in September 2006. Lincoln's decision to resurrect the Zephyr name refers to the very early days of Lincoln before World War II. At that time, the only Lincoln manufactured was the Lincoln K-series which was a full-size sedan, and Lincoln, under the direction of Edsel Ford, Henry Ford's only son, hoped to introduce a smaller product to compete with the Packard One-Twenty, and the LaSalle, a smaller sibling offered at Cadillac dealerships.

The Zephyr featured a revised interior from the Fusion and Milan. The design featured shapes with real ebony or maple wood inserts (depending on desired trim) in metallic frames. These surfaces were contrasted with chrome-bezeled gauges, circular, chrome-finished vents and a metallic center stack where the radio and climate controls are housed. The Zephyr's steering wheel was leather-wrapped with real wood grips and satin-nickel audio, climate, and cruise control buttons. White LED backlighting was used for the Zephyr's controls and instrumentation. Leather seating surfaces were standard in all models.

Some of these standard features in the Zephyr included: cruise control, automatic headlights, fog lights, power door locks, "global" power windows (all windows can lower simultaneously at the push of a button), power adjustable and heated mirrors with puddle lamps, remote keyless entry, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel with redundant audio and climate controls, dual-zone automatic climate control, a universal garage door opener, 10-way power driver and front passenger seats, rear-seat reading lamps, and a six-speaker audio system with an AM/FM stereo radio and a six-disc, MP3-compatible CD changer. Optional in the Zephyr was a power moonroof, a DVD-based satellite navigation system, HID headlights, heated and cooled front seats, and an industry-first THX II-Certified audio system with a six-disc, MP3-compatible CD changer and ten speakers. Safety features included standard dual front-side airbags, front seat-deployed side airbags, and curtain airbags that extend from the front to rear seats.

Mechanically the Zephyr was closely related to the Fusion and Milan. As mentioned, all three cars were based on Ford's CD3 platform, which was in turn derived from the Mazda 6. Like these cars the Zephyr is natively front-wheel drive (FWD). The Zephyr uses a coil-over damper, short- and long-arm (SLA) front suspension with double-ball-joint control arms while the rear suspension is an independent multi-link design with lower control arms and a 17 mm (0.7 in) stabilizer bar. Spring rates, bushings, and dampers have been specially tuned for the Zephyr to provide excellent ride comfort without compromising handling. All Zephyrs feature standard four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with traction control. The sole engine offered in the Zephyr was an all-aluminum 3.0 L DOHC Duratec V6 producing 221 hp (165 kW) at 6250 rpm and 205 lb·ft (278 N·m) of torque at 4800 rpm. This engine was mated to an Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission and had a final drive ratio of 3.46:1. This powertrain was identical to the V6 powertrain available in the Fusion and Milan from 2006 to 2009. With this powertrain the Zephyr could accelerate from zero to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 7.5 seconds. The FWD Zephyr came with a 17.5 US gal (66 L; 15 imp gal) fuel tank and is rated to deliver 17 mpg‑US (14 L/100 km; 20 mpg‑imp) in city driving and 26 mpg‑US (9.0 L/100 km; 31 mpg‑imp) on the highway based on the revised 2008 EPA fuel efficiency measurement standards.

Common 2011 Lincoln Mkz problems

The 2011 Lincoln MKZ has been known for several common problems based on complaints from owners. Here are the most frequently reported issues and their details:

  • Power steering assists faults: Drivers of the 2011 Lincoln MKZ have reported difficulty steering at lower speeds due to power steering assist faults. This issue is attributed to the power steering gear motor, which can degrade over time, especially when exposed to road salts. A recall was issued in 2015 to address this problem.
  • Spongy brake pedal: Some owners of the 2011 Lincoln MKZ have reported a spongy brake pedal, which can increase stopping distances and reduce the overall effectiveness of the braking system. This issue may be caused by worn-out brake components or a leak in the brake system.
  • Airbag system faults: The 2011 Lincoln MKZ has had issues with the airbag system, including airbags not deploying as intended during crashes. This problem can increase the risk of injury to occupants in the event of a crash.
  • Power steering fluid leaks: The 2011 Lincoln MKZ may develop power steering fluid leaks, which can lead to a loss of power steering assist and increased steering effort at lower speeds. This issue typically originates from insufficiently clamped hoses between the power steering pump or steering gear.
  • Trunk lid latch failure: Some 2011 Lincoln MKZ owners have reported that the trunk lid refuses to latch properly, which can prevent the trunk from making a proper seal. This issue can potentially allow moisture and water to get into the trunk, requiring the replacement of the trunk latch assembly.
  • Chrome peeling from wheels: Several 2011 Lincoln MKZ owners have reported that the chrome from their wheels has been peeling, which can compromise the seal of the tires and cause them to lose pressure. This issue can become a chore for owners, as they have to put air in their tires every week or two.
  • Sudden acceleration: There have been reports of sudden acceleration in the 2011 Lincoln MKZ, even when the brakes are fully engaged. This problem can lead to near-disastrous accidents, and while the cause has not been identified, it is a significant concern for owners.
  • Brake failure: The NHTSA has received 22 reports of brake failure in the Lincoln MKZ. Owners have reported different experiences with brake failure, including pressing the brake pedal and the brakes not working as intended. This issue can increase the risk of a vehicle crash and poses a significant safety concern.

In summary, the 2011 Lincoln MKZ has had several common problems, including fuel delivery system issues, power steering assists faults, spongy brake pedals, airbag system faults, power steering fluid leaks, trunk lid latch failure, chrome peeling from wheels, sudden acceleration, and brake failure. These issues have been reported by owners and can pose safety concerns, affecting the overall performance and reliability of the vehicle.

ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-08-15
  • VIN: 3LNHL2JC0BR
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: As I was traveling home from work, I noticed the car jerk slightly and immediately decelerate. The engine temperature gauge light came on the dash and the temperature gauge immediately moved to the “H” position on the dash. Due to the fact that I was in rush hour traffic on the highway, I was worried I wouldn’t have enough speed to get to the median. I turned on my hazards and coasted safely to the side of the road but was nearly ran over by other vehicles not realizing the issue I was having. I was unable to accelerate out of the way and at the mercy of other drivers being courteous and give me space to move. I turned the car off and looked under the hood locating the coolant reservoir. It appeared empty. I was able to get a ride to the nearest auto parts store and buy coolant. When I returned to my car, I emptied coolant into the reservoir and cranked the vehicle. Within a minute the gauge returned to normal temp and carefully got back in flow of traffic but stayed close to the emergency lane. Within a couple hundred yards of driving again, the lights and gauges indicated another overheating issue. At the next stop, I pulled into a gas station. And parked the car to have it towed. My mechanic informed me that the coolant was leaking from the coolant pump into my oil pan. Now the engine is flooded with a mixture of oil and coolant and I will need a new engine. He said this issue has been reported before but wasn’t sure what Ford/Lincoln may be doing about it. I’m lucky I didn’t have an engine fire or some sort of collision while driving along a highway during rush hour traffic.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-04-30
  • VIN: 3LNHL2GCXBR
  • Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
  • Summary: The contact owns a 2011 Lincoln MKZ. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a knocking sound coming from the front of the vehicle. The contact stated on another occasion while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine overheated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact was informed that it might have been an axle leak. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who in turn advised her to take the vehicle to a dealer. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with water pump failure. The contact was informed that the water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was being repaired. UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-05-22
  • VIN: 3LNDL2L39BR
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: I was stopping at a stop sign and was unable to stop immediately, instead I coasted a little bit before stopping. Then the brake warning lights and ABS and traction lights came on. I pulled over to a parking lot and turned the car off and turned it back on: all the lights came back on. I put on my flashers and very carefully and slowly drove my car to Jiffy Lube. They did an $108 oil change and checked the brake pads and brake fluid levels and said everything was fine and I would need to take it to a larger shop. I contacted the Apple Ford dealer near me and had my family follow me as I dropped it off. They said it would be a total of $310 for diagnostic and brake flush. I did the flush and it didn’t work. They said it would cost just shy of $3k to replace the entire hydraulic system. I took the car home because that is too much for a 2011 vehicle. I ended up having to get a new car because I need transportation for me and my two young children. My neighbor took a look at the car (he works on trucks) and the battery wouldn’t work. I bought a new battery for the car at $238.14. The lights are still on. I would like to have this car fixed or be able to trade it in. I am now being recommended to run a computer test on it to reset the codes. I would like to have this fixed as this seems to be a known issue with this car and I could have crashed if I wasn’t already driving slowly.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-06-15
  • VIN: 3LNHL2GC9BR
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: I was driving home in rush hour traffic at approximately 50 mph. I tried to brake but the pedal went to the floor and I had no brakes at all. Turns out this was a recall issue for the same issue for the previous four years MKZs. Replacing the fluid did not fix the problem and the 2,000 dollars charged for just the module that controls this is disgraceful. That doesn't include the other thousand for a mechanic to install the part. I managed to avoid hitting anyone, but not by much. This is extremely dangerous and should be addressed

TIRES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-08-25
  • VIN: 3LNHL2JC2BR
  • Components: TIRES
  • Summary: The tire is a NEXEN 225/45R18 After driving at highway speed on an out-of-town trip for several hours, got off the highway on the way to the hotel using suburban roads. About a mile later, a noise suddenly started at the driver's side front. The "slapping noise" got worse as the car went faster. I pulled off into a parking lot and found a steel bead from the tire had come loose and was hitting the inside fender well. I also noticed there were cracks in the side wall. I changed the tire using the spare tire and drove to the hotel. The next day, I went to a local tire dealer to buy replacement tires. Since the car is an All Wheel Drive vehicle, I had to replace all four tires. And, it is a good thing I did since when I inspected the old tires, the other front tire (the passenger side) had side wall cracks worse than the driver's side tire that had the bead separation. The two rear tires showed no evident side wall cracks. I kept the two front tires with the failures and one of the rear tires that did not have any evident cracks. There was not enough room in the car to bring all four tires back home. Attached are photographs of the two failed tires. NOTE: I am a former Director of the Office of Defects Investigation [XXX] ) and this is my wife's car. I brought the tires back with me since I believe ODI may want to have the tires in the event it believes a PE is appropriate. The tires are in my garage in Northern Virginia. The email and phone number are mine, not my wife's. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2019-12-11
  • VIN: 3LNDL2L30BR
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
  • Summary: The contact owns a 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal went down to the floorboard and the stopping distance was extended. The "Check Braking System" and "Service Advancetrac" messages were displayed. The ABS, brakes, and the electronic stability control warning lights were illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road and engaged the electronic parking brake. The contact stated that when she turned off and restarted the vehicle, the warning lights turned off and the vehicle operated as needed. The contact stated that the failure recurred on two separate occasions; however, on the last occasion, the warning lights remained illuminated upon restarting the vehicle, and the brake failure persisted. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000. The contact stated the ABS module failed, the older model years were under the recall but the newer cars were not included in this recall. The contact is requesting reimbursement for repairs made to this vehicle.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-06-01
  • VIN: 3LNHL2JC1BR
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: There have been several occasions where I am cruising at a steady spread and when I try to brake, the pedal just goes down to the floor. It's as if I don't have any brakes at all. I've had my brakes and fluid checked and all is good. This is a very scary and dangerous situation. Doing my research I see that this is a common problem. How is there not a recall on this? This could be a fatal situation. Please advise.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-05-24
  • VIN: 3LNHL2GC2BR
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: Recently I have experienced a "soft brake pedal" on my 2011 Lincoln MKZ. I investigated online and here's what I found. So far there is no recall on this vehicle but SHOULD BE. NHTSA believes the hydraulic control valves can become corroded and stuck, causing soft brake pedals and longer stopping distances. In some cases, braking returns to normal when the valves subsequently become unstuck, causing an intermittent condition that makes a correct diagnosis difficult. On Ford's side, engineers discovered a gelatinous material that prevented control valves from properly returning to the closed positions after actuation. The automaker also found the gelatinous material likely occurred when brake fluid hit the valve coating. Federal investigators were able to recover affected brake components in some of the vehicles that were involved in crashes, and engineers confirmed stuck valves and corrosion of the zinc control valves. This problem has just recently evolved and it is very scary when applying the brakes and they go down to the floor. The car stops if you pump the brake pedal. My mileage is 150000 on my Lincoln MKZ but the car looks like new and is excellent shape.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC,SERVICE BRAKES, AIR PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-05-12
  • VIN: 3LNDL2L35BR
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC,SERVICE BRAKES, AIR
  • Summary: The contact owns a 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the brakes failed to operate upon depression of the brake pedal with several unknown warning lights flashing on the instrument panel. The contact immediately applied the parking brake and drifted the vehicle off to the roadway. The contact restarted the vehicle three times and the warning lights reappeared on the instrument panel. The contact drove the vehicle home and later had the vehicle towed to a dealer. The dealer inspected the vehicle and informed him that the ABS hydraulic control unit was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 69,500. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired.

STEERING PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-03-16
  • VIN: 3LNDL2L37BR
  • Components: STEERING
  • Summary: The contact owns a 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the power steering failure message was displayed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The contact was relating the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V34000 (Steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was not repaired under the recall, and that the recall had expired. The approximate failure mileage was 128,000.

STEERING PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2021-11-08
  • VIN: 3LNHL2GC9BR
  • Components: STEERING
  • Summary: While making a right turn into Walmart parking lot, car was suddenly very difficult to turn. We almost hit the car in the lane next to us. We had to back up into the main road and risked a collision there as well just to pull into the parking lot. Like the power steering went out. Just a mile before that turn we made a turn and had no issue. Highway driving is okay, it is just difficult to steer in low speed city driving conditions. I had a mechanic look at it. he could not find anything wrong so we flushed the power steering with fresh fluid. It did not seam to help. He concluded that the electric assist is probably what failed. We looked this up, and it is a common problem with this model year MKZ and a recall has been out for this. But, for some reason my car does not pull up this recall.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-12-31
  • VIN: 3LNHL2GC9BR
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: Brakes worked perfectly until I had to stop suddenly. Brake pedal went almost to the floor before brakes engaged, and then only slightly. I made it home with them in that same condition. When I took it to the shop, the brakes worked perfectly again. At no time was any code shown. So far the shop can't get the brakes to do it again, but I can't trust the car I paid for. The NHTSA had a recall for the Lincoln MKZ up to 2010, but my 2011 has the same ABS module issue. Please expand the recall before someone else gets injured or killed.

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-07-16
  • VIN: 3LNDL2L39BR
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: Driving down the road all of a sudden Accutrac warning came up and then check brake system. The brakes were like a sponge and stopping was very difficult and required using emergency brake. Shut car off for a few minutes and then problem went away. Then it did it again. This is the same exact issue a recall was issued for the 2006-2010 model of Lincoln MKZ hybrid. Mine is a 2011 but built in the same plant. This car now has an unrepaired air bag from another recall that they still cannot fix and now no brakes and can't be driven. I feel this model should be included in the other model years recall.

AIR BAGS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2021-03-25
  • VIN: 3LNHL2GC0BR
  • Components: AIR BAGS
  • Summary: My vehicle has a safety recall for a possible exploding driver airbag, recall number 21V158. This recall was issued 3/25/21, about 10 months ago, and the manufacturer still does not have a fix for it. This is unacceptable given the severity of the recall. The NHTSA website states that if the manufacturer has not remedied a recall in a reasonable amount of time, then a vehicle complaint should be submitted. In my mind, 10 months is an unreasonable amount of time. I hope that the NHTSA can put additional pressure on Ford/Lincoln to remedy this recall ASAP.

  • Summary: My brakes completely gave out forcing me to use the handbrake. I took it to a Ford service shop and they said the problem was the HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. The part itself is on hold due to a recall. However, my car has not been placed on the recall list. I ended up paying out of pocket to have it fixed but was advised that Ford could reimburse me once NHTSA sends the recall notice. Side note: Ford was the third shop I took it to. The other two mechanics could not diagnose the problem. The attached invoice has my name wrong. It's [XXX]. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2021-04-08
  • VIN: 3LNDL2L38BR
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: MY CAR COULDN'T BREAK, SUDDENLY GOT WARNING WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT BY WALMART STORE. RED "CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM" YELLOW "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" "BREAK" AND "ABS" DASH LIGHTS STARTED POPPING UP AND I COULD NOT EVEN BREAK A LITTLE BIT EVEN AFTER STEPPING ON THE BREAK PEDAL REAL HARD, I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO NOT HAVING ANYONE IN FRONT OF ME ON THE PARKING LOT AS I ABSOLUTELY COULDN'T BREAK!!!!!! I PUT MY BLINKERS ON AND PLACED THE CAR IN PARKING GEAR, YET IT WOULDN'T STOP!! I FINALLY HAD TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION THEN THERE WAS A BIG SHAKE AND THE ENGINE STALLED FINALLY AND VEHICLE CAME TO A HALT. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP VIA AAA TOWING. THE LOCAL LINCOLN DEALERSHIP DID NOT SHOW ANY CONCERN AND WERE COMPLETELY IGNORANT OF MY NARRATING THIS TO THEM. THEY SIMPLY SLAPPED A CHARGE OF $3061 AND SAID THAT IT NEEDS REPLACING ABS MODULE AND A CHANGE OF HCU (HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT) AND STATED THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THESE COMPONENTS. I CALLED LINCOLN GLOBAL TO PLACE A COMPLAINT AND TO CHECK IF THIS WAS A 'KNOWN' ISSUE WITH LINCOLN MKZ 2011 MODEL. THEY SAID CURRENTLY THEY DO NOT HAVE A RECALL ON THIS COMPONENT. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AS IT AFFECTS BRAKES DIRECTLY AND THERE IS ZERO POSSIBILITY TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I WAS FORTUNATE THIS OCCURRED IN A PARKING LOT WHERE THERE WAS NOT ANYONE IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE WHILE IT OCCURRED. WHILE I'M WORKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP ON GETTING THE PRICE OF THE SERVICE A LITTLE DOWN, THATS NOT OF MY MAIN CONCERN. THE BRAKE FAILURE OF THIS NATURE COULD BE FATAL FOR BOTH DRIVER/PASSENGER AND PEOPLE ON THE WAY OF THE VEHICLE. PLEASE LODGE THIS AS A RECALL INVESTIGATION/COMPLAINT. THERE IS NO ISSUE FOUND WITH THE BREAK PADS OR BREAK LINING, DRUM ETC. ALL ARE NORMAL. VEHICLE IS REGULARLY MAINTAINED WITH SAME LINCOLN DEALERSHIP AT ALL TIMES AT ALL GIVEN INTERVALS.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2021-03-02
  • VIN: 3LNDL2L31BR
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: I WAS DRIVING, NORMALLY AROUND TOWN. MY BRAKES HAVE BEEN WORKING FIND AND NORMAL UP UNTIL THIS POINT. THEN, ALL OF SUDDEN I WENT TO PRESS MY BRAKES AND THE PEDAL ALMOST WENT TO THE FLOOR. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NOT ANY CARS IN FRONT OF ME OR WAS AT AN INTERSECTION. SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON: CHECK ENGINE WRENCH, ABS LIGHT, SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK AND E BRAKE LIGHT. SO, I WAS CLOSE TO MY HOME AND I DROVE IT SLOWLY TO MY HOUSE AND CHECKED UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WAS FINE AND NO BRAKE LINE LEAKS WHATSOEVER. NEXT, I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT IT IS AN ABS MODULE FAILURE. I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT FORD HAD A RECALL ON THEIR ABS SYSTEM, BUT FOR ONLY YEARS 2006-2010. GO FIGURE, THE NEW MODULE COSTS OVER $500 PLUS, THEN LABOR CHARGES AND A DEALER HAS TO REPROGRAM THE ABS SYSTEM. WOW, WHAT A SUPER EXPENSIVE UNFORESEEN REPAIR PILL.

Negative 2011 Lincoln Mkz car reviews

  1. Demario Miller 2024-11-04

Finally, a Ford product that doesn't require a lot of space to turn around. The engine is peppy and adequate, and the handling is excellent. The blind spot warning and backup monitor are great features. The interior is very quiet, although there is some road noise due to the OE tires not being the quietest in the world. The front seats could be more comfortable for those who are not overweight, but they are probably okay for larger people. The remote trunk opening switch is conveniently located, but it can be accidentally bumped with your knee when entering the car. Additionally, the rear head restraints partially block the rear view vision. Overall, the fit and finish are good.

  2. Easter Dibbert 2024-10-24

Congratulations on your new MKZ! We're sorry to hear that you're not completely satisfied with the build quality and comfort. We appreciate your feedback and will make sure to pass it along to the Lincoln team. Thank you for keeping an eye on the car market and for sharing your thoughts with us.

  3. Lonnie Zboncak 2024-10-14

I did not have the opportunity to drive this car for an extended period before leasing it, and unfortunately, after the first road trip, I realized that it was not the right choice for me. The seats were not supportive enough, which made for an uncomfortable ride, and the air from the dash vents was difficult to adjust. Additionally, the radio was not up to my standards, and the wind and road noise were quite noticeable. The transmission shifting was not smooth, and the memory seats did not retain their settings. Overall, I do not believe that this MKZ offers good value or luxury.

  4. Maximo Jones 2024-07-18

I bought my car at 110,000 miles for $8000 and it was a great deal. I have the AWD sport model which looks great and has every feature that I could desire, including heat/cooled seats, Bluetooth, navigation, and more. However, at about 140,000 miles, the engine started knocking and I needed a new engine. It wasn't the best news, but I bought the car for less than trade-in value at the time, so it wasn't too bad. Even with the $4000 I had to spend, I still think it was worth it. Unfortunately, about 5000 miles later, the brakes started acting up and I needed new front brake assemblies, including calipers, rotors, and brake pads, which cost me about $600. Then, the differential started leaking and I had to pay $400 for repairs, along with a power steering leak that cost $140. Soon, I'll need to replace the struts and sway bars. I love this car for the way it looks and feels, but I'm starting to wonder at what point I should call it quits and part ways. My previous car, a 2004 Pontiac Vibe, had zero problems and I drove it for 200,000 miles without any issues. It's hard to compare the two, but I'm still happy with my purchase.

Positive 2011 Lincoln Mkz car reviews

  1. Dominic Howe 2025-01-09

I have to say, this car is really impressive! The base model comes with almost everything you could want in an entry-level premium sedan. As a self-proclaimed technology junkie, I was blown away by the Microsoft-powered Sync interface (which is standard). The ride is so quiet and smooth, and the V6 engine provides plenty of power while still maintaining great fuel economy. The handling could be a bit better, but that's really my only complaint. The cabin is well-designed, and the fit and finish of the interior materials are top-notch. I find the seats to be incredibly comfortable, and the rear legroom is more than satisfactory. Even without A or Z plan, my sign and drive lease payment was under $400 a month. I highly recommend this car!

  2. Rodrick Aufderhar 2025-01-05

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to let you know that I recently purchased this vehicle second-hand, but it runs like it's brand new! The ride is incredibly comfortable and my family and I absolutely love how easy it is to drive. Thank you for taking the time to read this!

  3. Tristian Hansen 2024-11-04

I hope you're enjoying your new 2010 Black MKZ ultimate sport! It sounds like a really fun car to drive. It's great that you're loving every feature of it. I'm sure the ride will be even better once the tire gloss is off the tires. Have a great time driving it!

  4. Walker Prohaska 2024-10-09

  5. Saul Goyette 2024-10-02

Hey there! Just wanted to share that I bought this amazing car for under $10,000 over 6 years ago. It's been such a great investment because it does everything a car should do and looks fantastic while doing it!
