Bmw X3 2007 problems
The BMW X3 is an SUV manufactured by BMW since 2003, based on the BMW 5 Series platform. Now in its third generation, BMW markets the car as a Sports Activity Vehicle, the company's proprietary descriptor for its X-line luxury vehicles.
The first-generation X3 was designed by BMW in conjunction with Magna Steyr of Graz, Austria—who also manufactured all X3s under contract to BMW. BMW manufactured the second-generation X3 at their Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, United States. Starting with the third generation, BMW South Africa's Rosslyn plant began production of the X3, alongside the Spartanburg plant, after the facility underwent a major upgrade to prepare for the X3 production, replacing the long-running 3 Series production in the plant. About 76,000 units will be manufactured there annually.
The car was the first mid-size, premium SUV on the market. In 2008, BMW started competing with the Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class (renamed GLC-Class since 2016), and numerous other SUVs in this segment. The X3 is smaller than the X5 and X6, and bigger than the X1 and the X2.
An all-electric variant is sold as the BMW iX3.

Common Bmw X3 2007 problems
The 2007 BMW X3 is a car that has been reported to have several significant issues, making it one of the worst years for this model. The most common problem is oil leaks, which are due to cracked or deteriorating valve cover gaskets. This issue is unique to the 2007 X3 and is not found in other BMW models. Coolant loss is another problem that has been reported by many owners, with the radiator and coolant expansion tank being the likely culprits. This issue can lead to the engine overheating, which is a major safety hazard.
The timing chain guide in the 2007 X3 is made of plastic, while the timing chain is metal. This makes the timing chain guide prone to premature wear and failure, which can compromise the engine's timing and lead to engine failure. The sunroof is another component that has caused problems for 2007 X3 owners. The sunroof has been reported to create an irritating sound when opened and to leak, requiring replacement.
The window regulator is another component that has caused problems in the 2007 X3. The window regulator failure has caused the X3 windows to not properly open or close, which is a major annoyance for owners. The drivers side low beam bulb has also been reported to burn out, and the cost of replacing the bulb at a BMW dealership is much higher than the cost of the bulb itself.
The steering system in the 2007 X3 has also been reported to have problems, with some owners reporting that their vehicle is harder to control, especially when using the sports steering feature. This is a major safety hazard and can increase the risk of accidents.
The EGR system in the 2007 X3 with diesel engines can also malfunction, returning exhaust gasses into the intake. This can cause rough idling, decreased performance, fuel smell, increased fuel consumption, and stalling while idling.
In summary, the 2007 BMW X3 has several significant issues that make it one of the worst years for this model. These issues include oil leaks, coolant loss, timing chain guide failure, sunroof rattle and leak, window rattle and broken regulators, steering problems, and EGR system malfunction. These issues can be costly to repair and can compromise the safety and reliability of the vehicle.

SEATS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-11-09
- VIN: WBXPC93487W
- Components: SEATS
- Summary: I was driving my daughter to school this morning and turned on the seat warmers/heaters. After a few minutes on the road, I started to smell something burning. I couldn’t identify the smell and wondered if it was coming from the heater. I touched the left edge of the driver seat and was immediately burned on my hand. I quickly turned off the seat heaters and noticed that the left edge of the seat was burning. Yes, the safety of me and my daughter was at risk. I swerved when it burned me. No accident, fortunately. This is a known issue from what I’ve researched and it seems a recall was issued in 2006. So why not for this year. Same seat. Very dangerous. Could have been much worse. No, it has not been inspected. The damage is obvious and the only solution is to disable/not use it until a recall is issued. There were no warning lamps, etc. And the fuse didn’t blow, either. Problem has been reproduced.
STEERING,POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-09-10
- VIN: WBXPC93407W
- Components: STEERING,POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: Summary of complaint: We own a 2007 BMW X3 SUV that we have taken to the BMW Mt. Laurel NJ dealership for service since we bought the car over five years ago. On August 15th 2023, we took the car for a scheduled service and oil change. We paid $3000 + and brought the car back home first week of September when the car was purportedly repaired. My husband noticed that the car was not driving quite well. The steering was tight. When we called BMW they told us it might take a few drives for things to get back to normal. Then our 29 yr old daughter came from NYC where she resides to visit is for the weekend. On Sunday Sept 10th 2023, She went on an errand for us to Moorestown area. At a stop sign when she was not moving the car, the car started a spin in all directions. The oncoming vehicles thankfully avoided hitting her and she was able to come to a stop. Our daughter was terrified. After calming down she called to let us know what happened. She was so shaken up she barely managed to drive back home. We then called BMW right away when they opened on Monday and told them what happened. They came to pick up the car from our house to check it out and see why it spun out of control in circles. Then the service Dept called and said the car spun out of control due to a transfer case issue. I then questioned them why they did not properly diagnose this initially instead of us wasting $3000+ on repairs and still the car was not safe to drive. I then contacted Robert Durante the Asst service manager and he has not been too nice. BMW should do the right thing.I just paid over $3000 for car repairs in September and car did a spin out on Sept 10th less than two weeks after repairs was completed. The car was worse off when repairs was completed than when I brought it in. Way I see it, an inexperienced mechanic or a negligent mechanic worked on our car. I have NEVER had any problems with repairing our car with the dealer service department till this incident.

It is avaible for inspection. 2. My safety while driving the car is at risk because I dont know if the airbag will work or fail at any moment. 3. The problem has not been solved and BMW Seattle states that, "We do not see any recalls, and I am not saying that there isn't but because of the age of the car I don't know." BMW Seattle service receptionist states. 4. The vehichle has not been inspected for any safety recalls or notices. I have tried to call them about the safety and they always deny and say I dont know. 5. First it was the engine warning and now the low tire preasure light. But I always keep my car on top of things. ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-09-12
- VIN: WBXPC93467W
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: Vehicle breaking down/stalling out due to overheating with no visible defects that would cause a vehicle to overheat. Vehicle is maintained regularly and very well taken care of but persists having overheating issues and smells of burning plastic or burning electrical smell with no visible cause. The most recent incident that occurred on 9/12/22 happened while I was making a very routine drive on the freeway going approx. 70mph mid morning so slight traffic and within 2 second the vehicles temperature gauge went from smack in the middle where it sits usually to maxed out in the red! Vehicle starts very loudly beep beep beeping and then just loses power MID FREEWAY which of course means zero power steering to assist in coasting to the nearest exit while hoping not to get run over by hurried angry morning Phoenix drivers. I made it just off the off ramp and was able to make a right turn onto the street before I had to just turn on my hazards and exit the vehicle for my own safety, but mind you this is after a few failed attempts to get the car started again. Now my vehicle sits smack in the middle of a busy road taking up a whole lane while I sit there waiting for it to "cool" down in 100°F + weather and look under the hood for possible leaks or cause. After 20 minutes or so the police show up which is just the icing on the cake but just before I about blew a gasket mentally (LOL PUN) the officers approached me very friendly and concerned my my safety and the safety of my vehicle and offered to push me up the hill into the nearest station to avoid a possible collision which is where I let the vehicle sit a few hours, went back, turned her over and drove away like nothing over happened......uhh what?!?

- Summary: I have contacted NHTSA and BMW several times. I want this in writing in the case myself or my children are injuried when in this vehicle. My bmw x3 is my only form of transportation the engine light is on and it has started to smoke twice when engine is off. I just purchased the car second week of March 2022. It is hard for the car to accelerate and once the car is stopped at light or stop sign, the car does not have enough power to drive away or pull off. The car RPM goes very high and then low. This issue is unsafe and unfair that a customer can not drive their vehicle to work and appointments for my son with autism as well as my other 3 children. The burden is on BMW and NHTSA to remedy this issue. I will be contacting my local congress person to address this issue is well.

This 2007 CPO model was purchased to replace my wife's mini van. The BMW's exceptional handling and smooth, powerful acceleration immediately impressed her. The cabin fits her well and provides a great view of the road. Although the automatic transmission takes some getting used to, it is still a great feature. Despite some minor issues, such as the need to replace the cylinder head, all were covered under warranty and included a 3 Series loaner car. Going the CPO route saves a lot of money while still providing a great warranty. This is an excellent vehicle that is a joy to drive.

How exciting! Shifting into sport mode makes this car so much fun! You'll get lots of compliments driving it. Plus, there's a surprisingly nice growl in the cabin when accelerating. And who doesn't love the panoramic roof and leather interior? If you're lucky enough to find a low mileage model just out of warranty, snatch it up! BMW owners generally maintain their cars above average, so you won't regret it.

I bought this X3 with a manual transmission as new in 2007 and have enjoyed driving it ever since. I love its steering and ride, which I find better than the 2010 GLK 4matic that my wife owns. To my taste, it strikes a good balance between power and fuel efficiency. It's nimble yet offers plenty of space for a small family and has a large cargo room with the second row folded down. The leatherette interior is carefree. So far, I have only had one issue with a burned-out brake light. The 4x4 warning light came up once, but it went away by itself. Unfortunately, the dealer couldn't tell me what was going on...

Exceptional upscale SUV. It handles like a fine car but has all the advantages of an SUV. I just purchased this SUV in late October and it has been a dream to drive. The interior has many improvements over previous years, with higher quality materials used. Additionally, the larger engine provides better mileage.

I convinced my husband to test drive the Lexus Hybrid SUV, and in return, he convinced me to test drive the X3. Despite my initial expectations, we both agreed that the X3 was the better choice. It was easier to maneuver into parking spaces, felt more spacious in the front, and was an absolute joy to drive. Even though I'm only 5'4

I purchased my new X3 a week ago and have been experiencing some issues. Unfortunately, I was not aware of the engine hesitation problem that many of these vehicles have, and it has been causing some concern for me as it can be dangerous. Additionally, I have noticed that the steering is not aligned properly, which may be due to a wheel alignment issue or the wheel itself not being centered. The controls, including the navigation system, have been a bit difficult to navigate and understand, as they are quite complex. Lastly, there are some cosmetic defects on the fabric of the doors and pillars, which is a bit disappointing. Overall, I am considering other options such as the RDX, but I am hopeful that these issues can be resolved.

My first BMW did not meet my expectations, particularly with regards to the transmission and the lifter noise. However, on the highway, it performs exceptionally well. I believe that there should be a recall for the transmission design flaw. Despite several visits to the service center, the issue with the cylinder head was not resolved until it was replaced. I believe that the dealer and BMW could have done more to compensate me for the inconvenience caused. Overall, I am confident in my assessment of the car's performance and the necessary improvements that should be made.

I can understand your frustration. It sounds like you had a great experience with your previous car, the 2004 Acura TL. While the BMW X3 may not have had the best reviews in the past, the 2007 model has seen many improvements. However, I can see how the gas mileage of 18mpg city/highway and rough transmission could be a concern. Additionally, the electronics and rear seats may not be up to the standard you were expecting for a $44k vehicle. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences with the BMW X3.

I have a 2007 X3 and unfortunately, I have been experiencing the Service Engine light coming on every 2000 miles. Despite visiting the service center 15 times, the issue still persists. While the dealer has been doing their best to resolve the issue, it seems that even the BMW engineers are having trouble identifying the root cause. It can be frustrating when such a small issue persists, but I am hopeful that a solution will be found soon. I do wonder about the accuracy of the claims towards their 'intelligent' safety features, but I am confident that BMW will continue to work towards providing the best possible driving experience for their customers.

Congratulations on your first BMW! It's always exciting to get a new car. However, it sounds like you and your husband have had some trouble with the ride quality, and your child has experienced car sickness. It's understandable that this has been disappointing, especially since you were initially excited about the BMW. I hope you're able to find a car that better suits your needs and preferences.
