2015 Lincoln Mkz problems
The Lincoln MKZ, is a four-door, five-passenger mid-size luxury sedan manufactured by Ford and marketed as the Zephyr (MY 2006) and as the MKZ (MY 2007–2020) by Ford's Lincoln brand across two generations in both gasoline and hybrid gas/electric models.
Both generations of the MKZ were manufactured at Ford's Hermosillo Stamping & Assembly plant in Mexico. Production ended in 2020 to make way for new Ford vehicles.
First generation (2006–2012)
The 2006 Lincoln Zephyr was initially unveiled in concept form at the 2004 New York International Auto Show, previewing a new entry-level luxury sedan. The front featured Lincoln's signature waterfall grille and jeweled quad projector beam headlights (HID headlights were available). Chrome trim extends along the Zephyr's beltline while the car's rear fascia features LED taillights and dual chrome exhaust tips. All Zephyrs featured low-profile tires on 17x7.5-inch wheels with painted aluminum versions standard and chrome versions optional.
Lincoln officially revived the Zephyr name in the fall of 2005; the vehicles were based on the CD3 platform, which was derived from the Mazda 6. Lincoln had previously used the Zephyr name in the late 1930s for the smaller Lincoln-Zephyr line of mid-size vehicles. The "Zephyr" name had also previously been used by Mercury during the late 1970s and early 1980s, for several vehicles built on the Fox Platform.
The Zephyr's sole powertrain was a 3.0 L DOHC Duratec V6 mated to an Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission; identical to the V6 powertrain that was optional in the Fusion and Milan. The interior is largely unique to the Lincoln, along with different equipment packaging. The 2006 Zephyr started at a base MSRP of $28,995 USD, ranging up to $35,340 USD when fully optioned.
Though slightly smaller and front-wheel drive, the Zephyr was marketed as a replacement for Lincoln's previous entry level mid-size, the rear-wheel drive Lincoln LS. To facilitate a smooth transition, the Zephyr and LS were sold parallel to each other during the 2006 model year, the first model year of the Zephyr and the last for the LS. For 2007 the model was renamed MKZ, and took over the LS' market with sales beginning in September 2006. Lincoln's decision to resurrect the Zephyr name refers to the very early days of Lincoln before World War II. At that time, the only Lincoln manufactured was the Lincoln K-series which was a full-size sedan, and Lincoln, under the direction of Edsel Ford, Henry Ford's only son, hoped to introduce a smaller product to compete with the Packard One-Twenty, and the LaSalle, a smaller sibling offered at Cadillac dealerships.
The Zephyr featured a revised interior from the Fusion and Milan. The design featured shapes with real ebony or maple wood inserts (depending on desired trim) in metallic frames. These surfaces were contrasted with chrome-bezeled gauges, circular, chrome-finished vents and a metallic center stack where the radio and climate controls are housed. The Zephyr's steering wheel was leather-wrapped with real wood grips and satin-nickel audio, climate, and cruise control buttons. White LED backlighting was used for the Zephyr's controls and instrumentation. Leather seating surfaces were standard in all models.
Some of these standard features in the Zephyr included: cruise control, automatic headlights, fog lights, power door locks, "global" power windows (all windows can lower simultaneously at the push of a button), power adjustable and heated mirrors with puddle lamps, remote keyless entry, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel with redundant audio and climate controls, dual-zone automatic climate control, a universal garage door opener, 10-way power driver and front passenger seats, rear-seat reading lamps, and a six-speaker audio system with an AM/FM stereo radio and a six-disc, MP3-compatible CD changer. Optional in the Zephyr was a power moonroof, a DVD-based satellite navigation system, HID headlights, heated and cooled front seats, and an industry-first THX II-Certified audio system with a six-disc, MP3-compatible CD changer and ten speakers. Safety features included standard dual front-side airbags, front seat-deployed side airbags, and curtain airbags that extend from the front to rear seats.
Mechanically the Zephyr was closely related to the Fusion and Milan. As mentioned, all three cars were based on Ford's CD3 platform, which was in turn derived from the Mazda 6. Like these cars the Zephyr is natively front-wheel drive (FWD). The Zephyr uses a coil-over damper, short- and long-arm (SLA) front suspension with double-ball-joint control arms while the rear suspension is an independent multi-link design with lower control arms and a 17 mm (0.7 in) stabilizer bar. Spring rates, bushings, and dampers have been specially tuned for the Zephyr to provide excellent ride comfort without compromising handling. All Zephyrs feature standard four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with traction control. The sole engine offered in the Zephyr was an all-aluminum 3.0 L DOHC Duratec V6 producing 221 hp (165 kW) at 6250 rpm and 205 lb·ft (278 N·m) of torque at 4800 rpm. This engine was mated to an Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission and had a final drive ratio of 3.46:1. This powertrain was identical to the V6 powertrain available in the Fusion and Milan from 2006 to 2009. With this powertrain the Zephyr could accelerate from zero to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 7.5 seconds. The FWD Zephyr came with a 17.5 US gal (66 L; 15 imp gal) fuel tank and is rated to deliver 17 mpg‑US (14 L/100 km; 20 mpg‑imp) in city driving and 26 mpg‑US (9.0 L/100 km; 31 mpg‑imp) on the highway based on the revised 2008 EPA fuel efficiency measurement standards.

SUSPENSION,STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-07-24
- VIN: 3LN6L2GK6FR
- Components: SUSPENSION,STRUCTURE
- Summary: I have previously filed complaint on this vehicle with no satisfaction. I have a Lincoln 2015 MKZ. This vehicle has a low front end clearance which I believe to be a serious safety concern. The front bumper is only 7 1/2 inches off the ground. Most cars are at least 9 plus inches off the ground. This car can not traverse any type of graded driveway or access road. The front bumper constantly hits the ground which inevitably can and has caused damage to the vehicle. I.E. damage to wheels, radiator, lights, engine not to mention the bumper itself. I have contacted Lincoln and they are indifferent to my complaint. This should have been rectified years ago but was ignored by Lincoln. The company probably should have provided all owners of record of a Lincoln MKZ with a factory authorized lift kit which could have raised the bumper at least 1 1/2 inches. I have contacted Lincoln several times but they ignore my complaints. I believe there should be a recall to rectify this problem. This is certainly a potentially dangerous situation. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-05-01
- VIN: 3LN6L2GK6FR
- Components: STRUCTURE
- Summary: I drove my 2015 Lincoln MKZ in to my driveway which is not steep grade and the front bumper hit the drive way and ripped the bumper. This car has very low front end. I called Lincoln up and complained about this low bumper problem. Lincoln customer service just blew me off. They acted like I was first person ever to complain. When I told them that You Tube Video has this problem listed they ignored me. This would not be a big deal if the bumper was 2 piece and all that had to be replaced was a bumper guard but the replacemrnt bumper covers the whole front end. Replacement bumper runs between $500 - $700. Labor to replace bumper runs from $500 - $1000 depending on shop. This is outrageous. Lincoln knew of this problem for years and did nothing to fix the problem. The least Lincoln should do is replace the bumper at no charge and provide me with discounted installation charge. What can I do? I covered the crack with tape so it would not spread but this looks terrible!

Had it happened minutes earlier, we would not be here to tell you about it or to show you the faulty part. The faulty hose was inspected and replaced by an auto mechanic. I advised our local Lincoln dealer/service and I also spoke to the Lincoln Concierge service about what should be considered an ongoing safety hazard. I am hoping to show it to you and anyone else that may be familiar with an identical issue regarding the Ford Edge/MKX version of the same brake hoses. There was no warning at all prior to the sudden loss of brakes.

I recently upgraded to the MKZ after having a Ford Fusion, and I couldn't be happier! The styling and looks are fantastic, and the car is so quiet and smooth on the roads. Once you learn to use it, the information system works just fine. This is my first hybrid, and I'm thrilled with the gas mileage.

When you buy a Lincoln MKZ hybrid, you won't have to pay any extra costs compared to a gas-only vehicle, unlike other auto builders who charge extra. Lincoln/Ford's hybrid technology is top-notch.

Acceleration is marginally adequate, but the car is very comfortable and nice to drive. The engine can be somewhat noisy, but later year models have dispensed with much of this or have added some knobs which makes it much easier. Although all controls are touch, which can be quite distracting when trying to manipulate while driving, the touch screen can be smudged with finger prints VERY easily, making it hard to work with the screen in bright daylight. The ride can be somewhat bouncy and soft, but overall it's a great car to drive.

I recently had the urge to trade in my car and had done some research on the MKZ, E350, and BMW 5-Series in the weeks prior. While I was disappointed with the build quality, I understand that this may be due to Ford outsourcing their luxury car brand assembly to Mexico. As this was the most expensive car I've ever purchased or leased, I expected it to be defect-free. My previous experiences with my MB and 2012 Taurus were flawless, and I expected the same from Lincoln, which was once America's luxury car leader. Unfortunately, they are now left to deal with the issues caused by Ford/Lincoln outsourcing assembly to Mexico to save costs, while still charging a premium for their vehicles. *****************Update after 3 years of ownership: The quality of the interior controls is subpar, with cheap plastic being used for the push button transmission selector and the

I've been driving nothing but Lincolns for over a decade, and I've had this car for a while now. Let me tell you, it's incredible! The ride is great, and the mileage is fantastic. The acceleration and handling are both awesome. The only thing I miss about the older Lincolns is that feeling of being on your couch in your living room.

The car has experienced several issues, including key fob durability, engine failure at 130,000 miles and again at 90,000 miles, extensive front end repairs, electrical malfunctions, and A/C failure. However, I am confident in my assessment of the car's condition and can assure you that it is still a reliable vehicle.

Congratulations on your new American car! It sounds like you did your research and test drove a variety of options before settling on your local Lincoln dealer. The size of the car and its driving performance really caught your attention, and you were impressed with the modern interior and handsome exterior. While you wish you had waited for the color you wanted, the black car with painted grey wheels looks quite stylish - almost like something Darth Vader might drive! It's great to hear that you take pride in keeping your car clean and dust-free. Enjoy your new ride!

I purchased this car in 2017 and unfortunately began experiencing issues with coolant loss. Despite multiple attempts by the dealership to fix the issue over the course of a year, including replacing the water pump, hoses, and even the entire engine, the problem persisted. I had to file a lawsuit and am currently waiting for it to be resolved. In the meantime, I have to continually fill up the coolant. I have always been a Honda driver and this experience has solidified my loyalty to the brand. I will not be purchasing a Ford again. *Update: I have won my lawsuit against Ford. If anyone is interested in purchasing the car, please let me know.

Hey there! I hope you're doing well. I noticed that you haven't owned a Ford product since 1984, but you've been dying to come back to American cars. I totally get it! While the exterior design of the car wowed you, it seems like the interior didn't quite meet your expectations. As someone who is 6ft tall and in their mid-fifties, you were hoping for a more comfortable and luxurious experience. Unfortunately, the roof is too short and the lumbar support is poor. Additionally, the quality of the leather interior didn't quite meet your standards. I completely understand where you're coming from and I hope that you're able to find a car that meets all of your needs and expectations. Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with!

The car looks stunning on the road and I receive compliments daily on the beautiful rust color combination. As a first-time hybrid owner, I was looking for a luxury car that was unique and offered the amenities I was used to in my Cadillac CTS, while also providing good gas mileage. However, I have been disappointed with the gas mileage as I am only getting 28-30mpg overall, which is far from the 39/40mpg that Lincoln estimated. Despite this, the stereo/Sirius radio is great and the retractable side view mirrors, sunroof/moonroof, and electric trunk are nice touches. The rear and front parking sensors are also very helpful. Although the interior is nice, the seats could be more supportive and the console storage is a bit awkward. The steering can feel a bit
