The Ford Super Duty (also known as the Ford F-Series Super Duty) is a series of heavy-duty pickup trucks produced by the Ford Motor Company since the 1999 model year. Slotted above the consumer-oriented Ford F-150, the Super Duty trucks are an expansion of the Ford F-Series range, from F-250 to the F-600. The F-250 through F-450 are offered as pickup trucks, while the F-350 through F-600 are offered as chassis cabs.

Rather than adapting the lighter-duty F-150 truck for heavier use, Super Duty trucks have been designed as a dedicated variant of the Ford F-Series. The heavier-duty chassis components allow for heavier payloads and towing capabilities. With a GVWR over 8,500 lb (3,900 kg), Super Duty pickups are Class 2 and 3 trucks, while chassis-cab trucks are offered in Classes 3, 4, 5, and 6. The model line also offers Ford Power Stroke V8 diesel engines as an option.

Ford also offers a medium-duty version of the F-Series (F-650 and F-750), which is sometimes branded as the Super Duty, but is another chassis variant. The Super Duty pickup truck also served as the basis for the Ford Excursion full-sized SUV.

The Super Duty trucks and chassis-cabs are assembled at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky, and at Ohio Assembly in Avon Lake, Ohio. Prior to 2016, medium-duty trucks were assembled in Mexico under the Blue Diamond Truck joint venture with Navistar International.

  • Summary: DT*: THE CONTACT STATED IN THE PAST TWO YEARS WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, THE TURN SIGNALS DEACTIVATED THE CRUISE CONTROL. THIS OCCURRED DURING HALF OF THE INCIDENCES OF CRUISE CONTROL USE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVEN VERY OFTEN THEREFORE IT WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. DURING A LONG TRIP, THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER BY A POLICE OFFICER WHO INDICATED THE TAIL LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING WHICH INCLUDED THE RUNNING AND TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS. WHILE TESTING THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS, THE LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS BEGAN FLASHING. TWO RECALLS WERE OBSERVED BY THE CONTACT, #05V388000 AND #06V286000 PERTAINING TO THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. WHEN THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED, THEY DETERMINED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN EITHER RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED WHO RECOMMENDED THE CONTACT CALL THE NHTSA. THE CONTACT ALSO EXPRESSED THAT THE TURN SIGNAL AND THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WERE BOTH LOCATED IN THE STEERING COLUMN WITHIN THE WIRING HARNESS.

    Your '95 F250 has been performing impressively even under heavy stress. We have been using it to tow a 16' trailer and haul heavy loads like bricks or other building materials. The 460 engine always starts well and has lots of power and torque despite being a fairly primitive engine design. Although the fuel economy is usually anywhere from 9 mpg city/12 mpg highway, depending on the load and wind conditions, the truck has been a solid and reliable work truck. The only issues we have encountered are some rear brake problems, cheap interior plastic parts, and some issues with the clutch linkage.

    I really enjoy the power and braking of this vehicle. After adding the Y headers, the engine became even better and more fuel efficient. I get 12 mpg on the freeway and 9 mpg in town. This is my daily driver, but I also use it for towing occasionally (10 mpg while towing) and off-roading on the weekends. The captain's chairs are comfortable, but the armrests are a bit too high for me since I'm a tall guy. I opted for the manual shifted transfer case to avoid any issues with the solenoid failing in the mud (based on my experience working at a dealership). I also installed manual locking 4x4 hubs. I've taken this truck airborne off-roading before and broke the steering box, but I was still able to drive it home and then to work to put in a new one. I've never had any issues with the A/C system, and it still blows cold, although it's not so great in southern California traffic.

    It's great to have this truck! As my friends say, it's the last of the trucks. It pulls my 32ft camper with ease and even handles the beach terrain without any issues. Of course, being a 3/4 ton truck and not a half ton, it's not the most fuel-efficient. Mine has a 351 and has already clocked 166,000 miles, but it's still going strong for now.
