2023 Lincoln Corsair problems
The Lincoln Corsair is a compact luxury crossover marketed and sold by the Lincoln brand of Ford Motor Company since the 2020 model year. It replaced the MKC.
In 2020, the Corsair was the best-selling vehicle for the Lincoln brand.
Overview
The Lincoln Corsair made its debut on April 17, 2019 at the New York Auto Show and shares its underpinnings with the 2020 Ford Escape. The Corsair joins the Lincoln Nautilus (previously the Lincoln MKX), Lincoln Aviator, Lincoln Continental, and Lincoln Navigator in the Lincoln model line. The name "Corsair" has previously been used on several other Ford Motor Company products including the Edsel Corsair and the British Ford Corsair.
The Corsair is available in Base, Reserve, and Grand Touring trims, the latter of which is available as a gasoline/electric hybrid only.
The Corsair went on sale in the fall of 2019 and is offered in gasoline and plug-in hybrid versions. Chinese deliveries began in May 2020.
The transmission is no longer activated with a center console installed transmission selector; the computer controlled transmission uses buttons installed below the MyLincoln Touch infotainment touch screen labeled "P, R, N, D, S", In the late 1950s a similar feature was offered on all 1957 and 1958 Mercury sedans called Multi-Drive. During the same time, Chrysler offered the push button TorqueFlite and Packard offered the Ultramatic. The "S" transmission selection represents "Sport" mode, where the Continuously Controlled Damping suspension, electric power steering and transmission shift points take on a different posture.
In 2023, the Corsair received a facelift.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-07
- VIN: 5LMTJ5DZ3PU
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: While the cruise control was engaged on the highway without touching anything the with the speed set to 65mph the speed would suddenly increase to in excess of 75 mph before I could catch it and reset the speed back to 65mph. Also there would be times when the speed would decrease below 65mph by 10 to 20 mph and not reset to the 65mph speed. This was happening when the AutoGlide self driving feature was not engaged- just regular adpative cruse control.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-03-01
- VIN: 5LMCJ1CAXPU
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: The car keeps just fully turning off. Dealership has tried to replace the battery several times but the problem keeps happening. I am [XXX] and have been left stranded 4 times now. They can't seem to fix the problem. My car has been in the dealership 45 days of the 60 days I have owned it. I feel very vulnerable even if they do find a fix, I think it will happen again and again. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-02-18
- VIN: 5LMCJ2DA0PU
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: Purchased car in early January 2024 and on February 18th the vehicle wouldn't start. Got the vehicle to start after jumping it and drove straight to the dealership to have it checked / repaired. The car has been in the dealership service bay ever since. I worked with dealership and then escalated the issue to Lincoln Concierge Group (corporate office). I am told it is an issue with the Audio Control Module (ACM) where the electronics continue to draw down on the battery even after the car is shut off. The Lincoln programmers have taken multiple attempts to fix the problem ... all unsuccessfully. The new car has been in the dealership for OVER a month now. They have provided a loaner in the meantime but that is little consolation for the time and concerns we have with the vehicle purchased. I have asked that they consider the vehicle a lemon and allow for acquisition of another Lincoln. These requests have been denied but may be considered in the future. Looking for assistance in resolving this issue.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-10-22
- VIN: 5LMTJ5DZ8PU
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: Missing Parts during assembly resulted in wire melting onto muffler which subsequently resulted in error messages relating to the parking brake and disabling of the Adaptive Cruise Control and BlueCruise while driving. The failure to install deflectors, a part that is just inside the wheel well to keep wires from touching the muffler, is an ongoing issue which is discussed in a Lincoln forum since April 2022. I have found comments relating to these missing deflectors on Fords since 2019. [XXX] The missing parts are mostly, but not all, associated with having a towing package installed. If the wire had melted all the way through then a catastrophic event might have happened. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-06-08
- VIN: 5LMTJ5DZ7PU
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: - May 26, 2023: NHTSA Recall No.: 23V-380, recalled 2021-2023 Lincoln Corsair vehicles equipped with 2.5L HEV or PHEV engines (among others) due to possible engine failure and engine compartment fires after several reports of same, even after the repair attempted after NHTSA Recall No.: 22V-484 (the “Second Recall”). “This recall expands and replaces number 22V-484.” -June 5, 2023, Mr. Adrian Diaz of the Ford Motor Company (“Ford”) wrote a letter to NHTSA, addressing the subject of “Engine Failure May Cause Fire” and acknowledging the safety recall (the “Acknowledgement”). In the Acknowledgement, Ford stated that the consequence of the engine failure is that “[a]n engine compartment failure increases the risk of injury” but that there is no current remedy for this serious hazard. No remedy has become available since these issues first started arising prior to July 2022. -On June 8, 2023, after the recall and acknowledgement thereof, Crest Lincoln in Connecticut/Ford Motor Company sold me a vehicle that was the subject of the recall even though their own acknowledgement said “it is illegal for a manufacturer, to sell, offer for sale, import or introduce or deliver into interstate commerce, a motor vehicle or item of motor vehicle equipment that contains a safety defect once the manufacturer has notified NHTSA about that safety defect.” SUMMARY: Crest Lincoln and Ford Motor Company illegally sold me a vehicle and put an illegal vehicle into the stream of commerce that had a very serious safety related recall.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-08-10
- VIN: 5LMTJ5DZ7PU
- Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: I want to bring to your attn something I feel is quite hazardous, but is no longer a worry for me. I have a new Lincoln Corsair, top trim, with Blue cruise self driving. I found I could set the cruise for a certain speed, say 48mph, and several min later the vehicle would suddenly accelerate, at times to 70 mph. No one a the dealership had a clue. The chief mechanic took it for a drive. He " could not duplicate the problem". My wife and I , on our own, solved this. One of the dozens of things in the vehicle set up process ( customizing) was to choose a speed above the speed limit ( 5 or 10 or 15 , etc). I assumed it would set off a sound to remind me to check my speed. NO. When the car on cruse control enters an area, pre-mapped for accept Blue cruise (Tesla like self drive), its cameras read the speed limit sign. If I set and was driving at 48 mph, passed a 55mph sign , the car surged to 70mph. It was scary. I have since lowered the setting to 5mph and all is well. I phoned Lincoln in Detroit, Very polite but would not connect me or take a meaningful message. The dealership was respectful but did not have a clue

- Date Of Incident: 2023-07-15
- VIN: 5LMCJ1CA1PU
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: The Engine Control System has detected that one of the exhaust emission sensors is not responding as expected.

The Corsair has been updated based on owner and dealer feedback. This is my second Corsair and I must say, the updates are really good! The Lincoln Corsair is an excellent choice for a luxury compact SUV. It comes with a wide range of standard comfort and safety features that make driving a pleasure. Once you get behind the wheel of a Lincoln Corsair, you won't want to stop. The driving experience is comfortable, luxurious, and calm. I've been a loyal Lincoln customer since 2021, and I have no desire to switch to another brand for my luxury vehicle needs.

I recently purchased a 2022 Lincoln Corsair Reserve, however, I must say that I am not impressed with it so far. As someone who values a good sound system, I was disappointed to find that the Corsair's sound quality is comparable to that of a transistor radio from the 1960s. Given the price of the car and the fact that it is a Lincoln, I had expected it to at least match the quality of my previous Ford Escape.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to let you know that we've had this car for 10 months now and unfortunately, we've had a few issues with it. We've had to go back to the dealership four times already and the passenger seat is coming apart. Additionally, we noticed that the rear fender well is missing a piece that should have been installed from the factory. Lastly, the proximity key function only works sometimes. We're a bit disappointed as we traded in a Toyota for this car, but we're hopeful that these issues can be resolved. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

I test drove a 2023 Lincoln Corsair today. As someone with 32 years of automobile business experience and having driven almost every car made, I was disappointed with my experience. The tire and road noise were quite noticeable and the bumps transmitted through the chassis before moving up through the roof like a bell ringing. Additionally, the stereo did not meet my expectations and the engine had some harshness. The transmission was also a bit jerky from a standing start. The car had a tendency to do a porpoise motion as it went over undulations in the road, and the braking pressure caused the car to lurch forward and nose-dive. Despite these issues, the salesperson was friendly and professional throughout the test drive. I hope that Ford can address these concerns in future models.

Hey there! If you're looking to save some money, you might want to consider other options. Unfortunately, the auto stop-start feature isn't working as well as it should and there's a rattling noise coming from the rear door area. Even after replacing the fuel pump, the vibration noise is still present. It seems like Ford is having trouble finding a solution to this issue. Hope this helps!

Luxury starts with the ride. While the Ford suspension engineers may have missed the mark on this one, there are still plenty of other options to consider. The power seat controls on the side of the driver's door may be a bit tricky to operate, but with a little practice, they can be managed. Additionally, some may find the front half of the console to be unnecessary, but it's always good to have extra storage space. While the Ford Edge IP layout may be more to your liking, the Corsair still has plenty of great features to offer. We appreciate your feedback and hope to find a vehicle that better suits your needs.
