The Lexus LX (Japanese: レクサス・LX, Hepburn: Rekusasu LX) is a full-size luxury SUV sold by Lexus, a luxury division of Toyota since January 1996, having entered manufacturing in November 1995. It is Lexus' largest and most expensive luxury SUV. Four generations have been produced, all based heavily on the long-running Toyota Land Cruiser SUVs. The first-generation LX 450 started production in 1995 as Lexus' first entry into the SUV market. Its successor, the LX 470, premiered in 1998 and was manufactured until 2007. The third-generation LX debuted at the New York International Auto Show in April 2007. The fourth-generation LX debuted in October 2021.
The first-generation LX 450 had a straight-six engine and seats for seven passengers. The second and third-generations had a V8 engine powertrain, a welded steel body-shell combined with full-size steel ladder frame (body-on-frame construction), and seats for eight passengers. The fourth-generation model has a twin-turbocharged V6 engine powertrain and seats for seven passengers as standard and four passengers as an option. The second-generation LX 470 shared exterior styling with the Japanese domestic market Land Cruiser Cygnus.
According to Lexus, the "LX" name stands for "Luxury Crossover". However, some Lexus importers use the backronymic name, "Luxury Four Wheel Drive".

THIS COMPLAINT IS SPECIFIC TO A VEHICLE INTERIOR FEATURE THAT MADE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO CORRECTLY INSTALL THE CHILD RESTRAINT. THE VEHICLE BENCH SEAT IN THE SECOND ROW HAD LEATHER INTERIOR. THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE SEAT CUSHION INCLUDES A SUBSTANTIAL ROUNDED CUSHION THAT PROTRUDES FORWARD AT THE VEHICLE SEAT BIGHT. THIS SUBSTANTIAL THICKNESS OF MFG DESIGNED PADDING INTERFERES SIGNIFICANTLY WITH THE INSTALLATION OF AN INFANT SEAT BASE BECAUSE IT DISPLACES THE BASE OF THE INFANT SEAT SEVERAL INCHES FORWARD OF THE SEAT BIGHT. TOYOTA SUVS OF SIMILAR BODY TYPE ALSO HAVE A SIMILAR SEAT CUSHION FEATURE HOWEVER IT IS NOT AS PRONOUNCED. ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL THE BASE ON TOP OF THIS CUSHION THAT PROTRUDES FROM THE SEAT BIGHT WAS A PROBLEM AS THE BASE EASILY SLIPS OFF THE PROTRUDING CUSHION ....CAUSING EXCESSIVE SLACK AND SIDE TO SIDE MOVEMENT OF THE BASE. - Summary: MY 9 YEAR OLD SON NEARLY STRANGLED IN FRONT OF HIS SISTER AND TWIN SIBLINGS (5 YEARS OLD) WHEN THE MIDDLE SEAT BELT OF THE THIRD ROW GOT TANGLED AROUND HIS NECK. THIS SEATBELT HANGS FROM THE CEILING. I COULD NOT DISLODGE THE BELT FROM AROUND HIS NECK, AS IT WAS NOT OBVIOUS HOW TO DISENGAGE THE CEILING LATCH. WE WERE VERY FORTUNATE TO STOP A PASSING CAR, RETRIEVE A PAIR OF SCISSORS AND CUT THE BELT TO FREE MY SON. HE WAS ON THE VERGE OF PASSING OUT FROM LACK OF OXYGEN. THE PARAMEDICS TOOK HIM THE TO THE ER, WHERE THEY DETECTED A RASH AROUND HIS FACE AND NECK THAT IS COMMON WITH STRANGULATION. HE WAS BADLY TRAUMATIZED, ALONG WITH THE REST OF US. I REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO LEXUS AND FOLLOWED UP NUMEROUS TIMES. EACH TIME THEY ADVISED ME THAT THEY WERE INVESTIGATING THE INCIDENT AND WOULD GET BACK TO ME. - Summary: TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 LEXUS LX570. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED. THE GEAR SHIFT WAS PLACED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED ACCELERATING WHILE THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO EXHIBIT UNUSUALLY HIGH RPMS. PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF. - Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:PASSENGER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
- Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2008-2019 Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX 570 vehicles. Over time, the seat belt tension sensor wire harness may break and deactivate the front passenger air bag, knee air bag, and passenger seat-mounted side airbag.
- Consequence: In the event of a crash, deactivated air bags can increase the risk of injury .
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will modify the front passenger seat belt assembly or replace it with an improved one, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began February 11, 2019. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Toyota's numbers for this recall are Lexus Interim J2L and Remedy JLL, Toyota Interim J15 and Remedy J05.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
- Consequence: An incorrect driver or front passenger air bag may not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected air bag assemblies, free of charge. The recall began September 29, 2017. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is H0S. Lexus' number for this recall is HLD.

I traded my Land Cruiser, which I love, for the LX570. This vehicle has everything the LC had, plus more! The ability to adjust the suspension's firmness and the auto height adjustment helps my wife, mom, and kids get in and out, which is what sets this vehicle apart. When driving it, it immediately feels like a solid, highly engineered, and reliable machine. I can see why a lot of people never sell these vehicles once they own them.

I've driven 10,000 miles in my LX 570 in just 3 months! This truck really hits its stride at 70+ miles per hour. When passing on two-way rural roads at that speed, you have to be careful as it can quickly reach 100 MPH. But even at high speeds, it feels solid, stable, quiet, and effortless. I even had to install a K40 radar detector because this truck loves to sneak up in speed! While it may not have the best low-speed torque, it definitely has plenty of headroom at high speeds.

I own a 2009 LX570 that I bought off lease with 39,000 miles. It presently has 73,000 miles and still gives me no problems. The only things I've had to replace are the tires, brakes, and the hydraulic line at Lexus for $1,000.00. Every power option still works great, including the 6 C.D. changer and 7 keyless entry. Prior to this LX, I've owned a Rodeo, Forunner, Escalade, Highlander, X-Terra, and Tahoe. However, this is by far the best roomy, smoothest, and maintenance-free truck I've ever owned. It does drink gas, but no more than my Escalade or even the 6cyl X-Terra. I highly recommend this truck if you want a maintenance-free truck, plus a truck you won't see everybody driving!

I bought this car for my wife, while I drive a Porsche Cayenne. Let me point out a few differences between the two vehicles. Firstly, the Lexus is a large truck-based SUV, which makes it quite bulky. It does everything you need it to do, but it's not as agile as our other vehicle. The interior is quiet, but not as quiet as a nice sedan. One review described it as a graceful hippopotamus, which I think is quite accurate. If you're looking for a capable, strong SUV, then this is the one for you. However, if you're looking for performance and agility, then I think the Porsche Cayenne beats it hands down.

If you're looking for a car that combines the reliability and quality of a Toyota with the luxury of a German SUV and the low maintenance of a Japanese car, the Lexus is a great choice. It comes with a lot of advanced technology and offers a decent ride. While the seats could be improved and the ride and handling could be better, it still competes with other SUVs like the Range Rover, BMW X5, and Mercedes ML. However, like any other SUV, it has its own set of shortfalls.

The car drives decently, although not as smoothly as the LX 470. The seats are quite hard, and you can feel every bump in the road. The audio system doesn't sound as good as the 470, despite having more speakers. On the bright side, the redesigned body looks like a sleek Toyota Highlander. It's hard to understand why they would fix something that wasn't broken!

Although I was initially excited to hear about the redesign of the full size Lexus, I was ultimately disappointed with the new model. The interior was not as comfortable as I had hoped and I experienced several issues with the electronic system. Additionally, the built-in Bluetooth was difficult to set up and the receiver had trouble hearing me. In hindsight, I regret not test driving other SUVs before making my purchase. While I am unsure how long I will keep this car, I remain hopeful that future models will address these issues.
