The Cadillac XT5 (short for Crossover Touring 5) is a compact luxury / D-segment crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors. It was introduced at both the Dubai Motor Show and LA Auto Show in November 2015. The XT5 replaced the Cadillac SRX crossover when it was launched in spring 2016. It is the second model to use Cadillac's new alphanumeric naming scheme (after the CT6) and the first in the Crossover Touring (XT) series. The XT5 is manufactured at GM's Spring Hill Manufacturing plant. The Chinese-market XT5 is manufactured in Shanghai by SAIC-GM.
As of 2017, the XT5 was Cadillac's best selling model in the United States and globally.
Overview
The XT5 features technology such as a streaming video rear-view mirror, 360° view backup camera, and the first application in a Cadillac of GM’s Electronic Precision Shift, which replaces the standard hydraulic shifter with an electronic controller. This, together with a new lightweight chassis, results in a weight savings of 278 lb (126 kg) versus the outgoing SRX.

- Summary: On 10/18/24 I was making a left turn out of my development when a vehicle crashed into the front driver portion of my vehicle. The vehicle was going approximately 40+mph. I was driving approximately 5-10 mph making the turn. I was wearing a seatbelt, hit my head on the drivers door jam/window and immediately complained of neck and head pain. No airbags deployed. I sustained a severely herniated disc at C5-6 causing severe spinal cord compression and cervical myelopathy requiring urgent surgery. It was found that I not only had the severely herniated disc but ligament and cartilage that was severely compressing my spinal cord due to the trauma of the accident. I had a seat belt sign (bruising from the seatbelt) and sustained a concussion from the head strike. If the airbags would have deployed likely I would have not had as severe of a cervical spine injury. The vehicle only had 663 miles and only 3 weeks old. The car has at least 21K of damages. The vehicle is still being repair and not in my possession. My collision shop towed by vehicle to GMC/Cadillac dealership for computer/electrical malfunctions. They have been working on these electrical issues for over 2 weeks. The dealership verbalized that they could not differentiate if these electrical issues occurred before or after my accident. Given my serious injuries and high rate of speed that I was hit I have concerns that my airbags should have deployed. Combine with the new electrical/computer issues raises my concerns.

- Consequence: Without the illuminated reminder, the driver could fail to turn off the lights when no longer needed. Hazard warning lights, high beams, or turn signals that remain activated unintentionally can confuse other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Dealers will update the instrument panel software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 13, 2024. Owners may contact Cadillac's customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N242447940.

Before heading to a dealer, make sure you have a clear idea of all the options you want. In my case, I knew I wanted all the safety features, so I did an online search for Cadillacs that met my requirements. That's how I found the top-of-the-line Xt5 model, which had all the features I was looking for, including lane alert, lane change warning, lane hold when in cruise, and both front and rear blind side alerts. I've already had a chance to experience the effectiveness of these features when I received a warning about a vehicle approaching me from the front that had crossed the lane line. The heads-up display made the warning even more noticeable. I'm really pleased with the electronic steering and braking, which is much more responsive than hydraulics.

You made a great choice with this mid-size luxury SUV! It handles really well and has plenty of power with its V-6 engine. The layout is also really nice. You got a good deal on it and it has most of the safety features you were looking for. I highly recommend the V-6 engine over the 4 cylinder. You won't lose much mileage, can use regular gas instead of premium, and it has more horsepower. Options are pretty good, even with the chip shortages and availability of models. I found it to be really comfortable with good visibility, and a great bargain for the price.

The car is great in most aspects so far. However, there are two issues. Firstly, 11 should consider offering a 6-cylinder engine at no extra cost, or alternatively, a 4-cylinder engine that runs on regular gas. Secondly, the electric shifter is not very good and often goes into the wrong gear. The other transmission levers were more accurate in finding each gear.

This is my 3rd XT5. It's great to see how much it has improved with each new lease. The ride and style are both wonderful! I went with the Premium Luxury 6 cylinder and it's been a fantastic choice.

I had it towed to the local dealer for repair on Jan 2, 2024, but due to supply chain issues, the necessary parts are not yet available and there is no scheduled date for the transmission replacement. The Android Auto system in my vehicle has been a frustrating experience. I have encountered issues trying to connect two phones and the system often connects to the wrong device. Additionally, I have had difficulty getting my phone to connect to the system without having to turn off the car. The map updates are also a challenge, as they require a minimum $400 yearly subscription to OnStar or a $150 SD card purchase each year. Unfortunately, customer service for GM and OnStar has not been helpful in resolving these issues. Despite these challenges, I remain confident in my decision to purchase this vehicle and look forward to finding solutions to these problems.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my 2024 xt5 that I leased in December 2023. Unfortunately, I ran into an issue with the transmission after driving it for about 1400 miles. I had to have it towed to the dealer on March 5th and it's still there as of March 27th, 2024. The dealer has informed me that the part is on order, but they haven't given me a date for when it will be fixed and returned. In the meantime, they've provided me with a loaner car that has slightly fewer features. I'm still waiting, but I'm hopeful that everything will be resolved soon. Thanks for listening!

The car was delivered to the dealership with a couple of scuffs at the front and rear. Unfortunately, in less than 60 days with only 469 miles on the odometer, the AC stopped cooling. Additionally, the interior may not be as roomy as expected for a car priced at $57k.
