SADLY, VW PUT IN THE SAME TYPE OF WATER PUMP WITH THE PLASTIC IMPELLER, SO I HAVE LITTLE CONFIDENCE THAT IT WILL LAST LONGER THAN ANOTHER 60000 MILES. RESPONSE: "A WIRE GOT TO HOT AND FRIED A COMPONENT IN THE AIR BAG." THEN I ASKED HOW A "HOT WIRE" WAS NOT A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND WHY IT WASN'T COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. RESPONSE: "IT JUST ISN'T COVERED AND IT'S NOT OUR FAULT". THE END RESULT WAS THEY DIDN'T WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH OUT CHARGING ME THE FULL PRICE, THE BEST THEY COULD DO WAS CHARGE ME HALF PRICE ON THE LABOR TO FIND THE PROBLEM. *JB

2000 Volkswagen Golf recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 8 recalls for different components of the 2000 Volkswagen Golf.

- Summary: The Gates Corporation (Gates) is recalling certain aftermarket Tru-Flow Water Pumps, part number TFW 41127, sold at certain NAPA Auto Parts and/or installed by automotive service technicians after November 1, 2013 (and manufactured August 2013 through October 2013) that have a black-colored pulley/sprocket or do not have 'US9377' stamped on the water pump housing. These service replacement parts were sold for use in model year 1999-2005 Audi A4, 2000-2006 Audi TT, 1998-2005 Volkswagen Beetle, 1999-2006 Golf, 1999-2008 and 2011-2013 Volkswagen Jetta, and 2000-2005 Volkswagen Passat. In the affected water pumps, the pulley or sprocket that turns the timing belt may develop microfractures causing the timing belt to fail.
- Consequence: A failure of the timing belt may cause the engine to shut down, potentially increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
- Remedy: Gates will notify owners, and dealers will replace the water pump, free of charge. The recall began during May 2014. Owners may contact The Gates Corporation at 1-303-744-1911.

I bought this car used with 80,000 miles and I'm happy to say that I haven't had any problems with it, just like the person I bought it from. It's a fun, reliable, and zippy car. I've had a lot of cars in the past, but this one is perhaps my favorite so far. I really appreciate all the options it has for being an economy-based car.

This car runs like a top. It's affordable, fun to drive and has earned my trust. The cup holders are cheap and flimsy, but that's not a big deal. The features-to-cost ratio is much better than anything in its class. I really love this car!

Despite some initial excitement when I purchased my TDI in 2000, I have unfortunately experienced a number of issues with the vehicle. These include problems with the Check Engine light, slipping gears, faulty manifold gaskets, and now my transmission. While I appreciate the car's interior and gas mileage, I have been disappointed by the unreliability and numerous headaches I have faced. Additionally, I have not been satisfied with the customer service and mechanics at my dealership. However, I remain hopeful that these issues can be resolved and that I can continue to enjoy the benefits of my TDI.

When your car is running well, it's an absolute joy to own and drive. However, when it's not, getting the right service can be difficult and expensive. Unfortunately, I have experienced poor execution of service on several occasions. VW has also been reluctant to honor the warranty, which has been disappointing. The dealer service has not been up to my expectations either.

This is one tough little car. Although there are some problems, such as the emission sensors being too sensitive and the 'Check Engine' light being indecisive, it moves like a dream and I can zip from here to there effortlessly.

I strongly advise against purchasing this car. Despite being less than a year old, it has required multiple repairs including fixing a window and the brakes. Additionally, the headlights blow out frequently and the electrical system malfunctions often, causing the alarm to go off and lights to flicker. The transmission is also showing signs of wear and tear. Overall, this car does not meet the standards of quality and reliability that one would expect from a new vehicle.

This car has been extremely unreliable, with a seemingly endless list of problems including the mass air flow sensor, headlights, dashboard lights, glove box (which has failed twice and has yet to be acknowledged by VW), ABS, hydraulic brake unit, radio, and more. Fortunately, I have roll down windows, unlike many others who have experienced issues with their power windows.

I've been driving my car for 2.5 years now and while I love driving it, I've had some issues with repairs. Unfortunately, the 'check engine light' keeps coming on and it's been a hassle to deal with. It was covered under warranty for the first 2 years, but now I have to pay $75 every time I take it to the dealership for diagnosis and repair. The sensors seem to be the issue, as they can give false alarms due to weather conditions like heavy snow or rain. It's been frustrating, but I'm hopeful that it will get resolved soon.

I've had my car for just over a year now and unfortunately, I've had to take it back to the dealership over twelve times for repairs. I've experienced issues such as coolant loss, driver and passenger windows falling down several times, and an O2 recall. I've also had problems with the door handle lock assembly, and the list goes on and on. I previously owned a 97 Jetta and never had any problems whatsoever. The dealer informed me that they are getting parts from a different manufacturer for the new models. I really hope they get their act together soon.

I purchased a fully loaded GLX TDI with all available options. Although it creaked and groaned when I first drove it off the lot, I was assured that this would subside. Unfortunately, I later discovered that the windshield had a defective coating on the inside that could not be cleaned off. Despite having to replace the heater motor three times and experiencing issues with the windows, I have been disappointed by the rattles and thumps that the car produces. When I brought this up to the service manager, I was told that I was being overly sensitive. Additionally, the interior's Velcro lint catcher has been quite disgusting.
