Though it is thought the GX has always been larger than the RX, from 2015 to 2022, the RX is slightly longer and slightly wider than the GX and therefore the GX was considered smaller. All GX production has occurred at the Tahara plant in Japan, alongside the Land Cruiser Prado and the export-minded Toyota 4Runner.

MY MULTIPLE REPAIR ATTEMPTS WITH THE LEXUS DEALER SHOULD BE DOCUMENTED WITH LEXUS. LEXUS AND TOYOTA 4.6L V8 EXHAUST MANIFOLDS HAVE CHRONIC CRACKING PROBLEMS. THESE CRACKS COULD EXPOSE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS, INCLUDING YOUNG CHILDREN, THE ELDERLY AND PEOPLE IN POOR HEALTH, TO CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING WHEN THE CAR IS IN TRAFFIC OR STATIONARY WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. MY CONCERN IS THE TECHS DID NOT RECEIVE SUFFICIENT TRAINING TO IDENTIFY A POTENTISL,Y INJURIOUS OR FATAL PROBLEM. THE SITUATION IS SIMILAR TO THE CARBON MONOXIDE ISSUE IN LAW ENFORCEMENT FORD EXPLORERS. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 3 recalls for different components of the 2011 Lexus Gx460.

- Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2010-2016 4Runner, 2003-2006 Tundra, 2003-2013 Corolla, 2009-2010 Corolla Matrix, 2004-2005 RAV4, 2002-2007 Sequoia, 2011-2013 Sienna, 2008-2012 Scion xB, 2008-2009 Lexus IS-F, 2007-2012 Yaris and Lexus ES350, 2010-2017 Lexus GX460, 2002-2010 Lexus SC430, 2006-2012 Lexus IS250 and IS350 and 2010-2015 Lexus IS250C and IS350C vehicles. These vehicles had their driver or passenger frontal air bag inflators previously replaced under a prior recall using inflators of the same design. The inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.
- Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners. Depending on the vehicle model, dealers will replace the front driver inflator, front passenger airbag inflator, the airbag assembly, or the front passenger airbag sub-assembly and inflator. The recall began November 20, 2019. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Toyota's numbers for this recall are J0A, J0B, and J0C. Lexus' numbers for this recall are JLI, JLJ, and JLK.

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your car! I completely agree with you about the body side molding on the non-Premium edition. It does look a bit plain without it. I hope you're able to find a way to get it. As for the plastic in the cockpit, I can understand your concern. It does seem like there's a bit too much of it. However, I'm glad to hear that everything works great and that the instruments are well displayed. If you do end up having any issues with the plastic in the armrest, I hope it will be covered under warranty.

I test drove several luxury SUVs including Mercedes, BMW, and Land Rover before deciding on the GX 460. Overall, I believe it is the best option available today when considering all factors. While the competition has its advantages, the GX 460 is the complete package. The exterior styling may not be flashy, but the GX is the perfect choice for those who prefer a more understated look. Lexus truly understands their customers and has delivered an incredible ride that is just as smooth as the LS 460. The interior is stunning and the technology is easy to use. Even more impressive is the GX 460's capability, which exceeds the needs of most drivers. I also appreciate its relatively low-key appearance. Additionally, the standard sound system is amazing.

We are thrilled with this purchase! When you invest in a Lexus, you know you're getting top-notch quality, even if it comes with a higher price tag. Despite its size, it doesn't feel like you're driving a bus like some other SUVs. Of course, the gas mileage isn't ideal, but that's to be expected with any large SUV. This is our first time owning a Lexus, but we have a feeling it won't be our last!

I'm so glad I got the Base model with all the options - it's been great so far! The only issue I've had is that it might need a wheel alignment or tire adjustment. It's such a comfortable and luxurious ride, although it does feel a bit more like a truck compared to my previous BMW and Acura SUVs. My kids absolutely love it though!

I really like this vehicle, but I have noticed some issues with the acceleration after stopping and accelerating quickly. This could potentially be a safety concern, especially when trying to quickly accelerate through an intersection. However, I am pleased to hear that Lexus is addressing the issue. Although there have been no reported accidents yet, it is important to prioritize safety. If it weren't for this issue, I would only have minor concerns about the small area for the 3rd row and the leg room for the driver's side. It's worth noting that this vehicle is built on the 4runner chassis, and the exterior and style are very impressive. Overall, I think this is a great vehicle with a lot of potential.

I recently switched from a 2010 Range Rover to a 2011 Lexus GX 460 due to reliability issues. While Lexus is known for being a reliable car brand, I have noticed that this SUV feels quite top-heavy and the rear end has swung out on tight turns at higher speeds, which can be uncomfortable. Additionally, the interior is not as luxurious as I expected from a Lexus and is definitely not as nice as the 2003-2009 generation of this model. However, my friend has an 08' and loves it. The styling is also quite bland and closely resembles the 2011 Toyota 4 Runner both inside and out. The radio and phone controls can be a bit clumsy and confusing, and the interior looks and feels a bit cheap. Overall, I have mixed feelings about this SUV, but I am hopeful that it will prove to be a reliable choice in the long run.

If you can, we recommend avoiding this truck-based SUV. However, we were very happy with the GX470 that we test drove. We regret not testing the GX460 on the highway before purchasing it, as the ride can be quite bumpy and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the dealer did not offer any assistance other than a trade-in. While the SUV feels solid and the seats look good, they are quite stiff and can be uncomfortable. On the positive side, we love the navigation system and the interior color.

I tested the BMW x5, MDX, BM350, RX350, and GX460 on local roads. Although I loved the RX350, I ultimately went with the GX460. However, I regret not testing it on the highway. I thought we would get a roomier and more comfortable ride than the RX350, but unfortunately, we experienced motion sickness during the first 50 miles of driving. The truck ride was very bumpy and shaky on the highway, which made us feel sick and dizzy. This was a new experience for us, and we were concerned about the safety of our kids. Additionally, the gas mileage was very poor, making it less than ideal for day-to-day family use. If possible, I would recommend avoiding this car. Eventually, we traded it in for a 2011 RX350, and we are much happier now.

I owned an old model, the GX470, for 8 years and recently purchased the new GX460 with high expectations. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a big mistake. Although the new GX460 is a larger and heavier SUV, Lexus engineers decided to put in a smaller engine. As a result, it is severely underpowered and I struggle to drive up hills to my home. I am also afraid to pass any car on the freeway due to its poor handling, which my son has also noticed and refused to drive. I am considering returning this SUV and hope that Lexus will take it back. I believe that Lexus needs to improve their design skills in many areas to keep up with the competition.
