WE JUST TOOK A ROAD TRIP AND IT WAS NECESSARY TO FILL UP ALL THE WAY TO MAKE SURE WE HAD ENOUGH GAS IN BETWEEN TOWNS. WE WOULD HAVE TO GET GAS ONLY WERE WE COULD EASILY HOP ON AND OFF THE FREEWAY. IT WOULD DIE AS WE PULL OUT OF THE GAS STATION. I WOULD RESTART AND DRIVE AWAY. IT WOULD THAN BE FINE ON FREEWAY. ONCE UP TO SPEED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE FOR OBVIOUS REASONS. I love my new van! It rides so smoothly and my family loves it. Plus, it gets great gas mileage. I have no complaints and feel comfortable taking it on long road trips because it's so reliable.

We replaced our 1994 Voyager with this 2007 Caravan. The spirit of the car remains the same, with a tidy wheelbase and four bucket seats. However, the new Caravan is noticeably smoother and quite a bit bigger inside. Despite having the same basic engine as the '94, it has better acceleration. We are getting the same mileage, about 17 mpg in short trips around town and about 24 mpg on the highway. My wife wanted the short wheelbase minivan for its maneuverability around town and she is very happy with it. I find it a pleasant car to drive, particularly cruising down the highway. We did have to replace a piece of weatherstripping on the front door, but otherwise, it has been perfect so far.

I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying the Grand Caravan SXT special edition! It sounds like it's very spacious and has a lot to offer. Plus, it's great that it was more affordable than the Honda. I understand that waiting for the 2008 model would have been ideal, but I'm happy to hear that you're still very pleased with your purchase.

I've owned over a dozen vans in my life, from every American manufacturer. This van has proven to be the most economical one. It's reasonably priced to start, and the gas mileage is decent at 23 MPG combined city and highway. Insurance costs are also low. I've had no issues with it, except for a less than smooth transmission downshift, which the dealer says is normal, in my 15k miles of driving.

Despite the mechanical aspects being commendable, the car has had several issues with A/C, dashboard lights, door locks and handles, heater fan settings, speakers, dome lights, window switch, and rust. Additionally, the interior design is poorly thought out and uncomfortable. However, with 130K highway miles, the car has not had many problems. Overall, while the mechanical aspects are praiseworthy, the daily issues with the car are a major drawback.

We were originally interested in the 2008 GC or TC, but unfortunately the excise tax in Puerto Rico is quite high, over 30% on top of the full MSRP. However, we were able to take advantage of a liquidation sale and purchase a new 2007 SXT model for under $20K. To our pleasant surprise, the SXT came with additional options such as cruise control, power driver's seat, power slide door, and a 6 CD player that we didn't expect. We ended up paying $5K less than the invoice and avoided taxes altogether. The dealer even drove the new car over 100 miles to us, where we had a mechanic verify that it was indeed new. Due to the hot weather in Puerto Rico, we need to keep the AC on full time, which unfortunately affects the gas mileage, but it's still three quarters of what we expected. I'm only 6 ft. tall, but I still find the pedals a bit short and the side door controls scrape my legs in the front seats. Other than that, everything is okay.

I have owned four new mini-vans in the past, and my current Dodge 2007 Grand Caravan SXT will unfortunately be my last Chrysler product. As other comments have noted, the transmission shifts very hard from 2 to 1 and will eventually need to be repaired or replaced. Additionally, there are several bulletins out on this van. The back wheel bearings rust easily, which poses a huge safety problem. The van also has a chronic ABS sensor and system problem. However, I do like the stow and go feature. The road noise is quite terrible though. I am currently in the market for a Honda Odyssey, which will be my first foreign car. I can no longer deal with the poor quality and poor customer service from Chrysler!

This vehicle was purchased new, and while I enjoy driving it, the transmission has been a persistent issue since the beginning. Although the hard shifts up and down are not always present, they occur frequently enough to cause concern. The front end has also been affected, resulting in noticeable squeaks. Despite my initial positive experience with a rental vehicle of the same make and model, I regret purchasing this one. The transmission troubles began at around 500 miles, and have persisted since. As the first and last new Chrysler product I will ever purchase, I am disappointed with this experience.
