All GX production has occurred at the Tahara plant in Japan, alongside the Land Cruiser Prado and the export-minded Toyota 4Runner.

- Summary: The infotainment screen on my 2014 Lexus GX 460 has been restarting continuously, rendering it unusable. This system controls essential functions, including the air conditioning, vehicle settings, CD player, and Bluetooth connectivity. Due to the screen constantly restarting, I cannot adjust the AC, use the CD player, or connect my phone via Bluetooth. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED LEXUS DEALER WHO ADVISES THAT LEXUS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE. LEXUS FURTHER ADVISED ME THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT MY LEAN WAS NOT IN LEXUS SPECIFICATIONS TO BE FIXED WITH THE NEW PART THAT LEXUS HAS ALREADY ENGINEERED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THEY FURTHER ADVISED ME THAT I CAN BRING THE VEHICLE BACK AT A LATER DATE AND THEY WILL REMEASURE THE LEAN TO SEE IF IT FALLS UNDER THE REPAIR/REPLACE BULLETIN. - Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) recalled certain 2018-2019 4Runner, Highlander, Camry, Land Cruiser, Sequoia, Sienna, Tacoma and Tundra, and Lexus RC 300, RC 350, GS 350, GX 460, IS 300, LC 500, LS 500, LX 570, RX 350L, and 2019 Toyota Avalon and Corolla, and certain Lexus NX 300, and ES 350 vehicles on January 13, 2020. On March 4, 2020, Toyota expanded the recall to include certain 2014-2015 Toyota 4Runner and Land Cruiser, 2018 Avalon, Corolla, 2014 FJ Cruiser, 2017 Sienna and Lexus 2018 ES 350, 2018-2019 GS 300, 2013-2014 GS350, 2014-2015 GX 460, IS 350 and LX 570, 2014 IS F, 2018-2019 IS 350, LC 500H and LS 500H, 2013-2015 LS 460, 2015 NX 200T and RC350, 2017 RC 200T and RX 350. Toyota also removed the 2018-2019 Toyota 4Runner and Land Cruiser and 2018-2019 Lexus GX 460 and LX 570 and 2019 NX300 from inclusion in this recall. On March 19, 2020, Toyota expanded the recall to include 2015 Lexus GS350 vehicles. The low-pressure fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.
- Consequence: If the fuel pump fails, the engine can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began May 4, 2020. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 20TB02 and 20TA02 for Toyota vehicles and 20LB01 and 20LA01 for Lexus vehicles.

- Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners. Depending on the vehicle model, dealers will replace the front driver inflator, front passenger airbag inflator, the airbag assembly, or the front passenger airbag sub-assembly and inflator. These vehicles are equipped with air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules, used as original equipment or replacement equipment (such as after a vehicle crash necessitating replacement of the original air bags), that may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.
- Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners. Depending on the vehicle model, dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflator, or replace the air bag assembly. The recall began February 15, 2019. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are "Zone A" Toyota: G0P, Lexus: GLG; "Zone B" Toyota: G0R, Lexus GLH; "Zone C" Toyota: H0A, and Lexus: HLA.

I used to own a GX 470 but decided to sell it and custom order a Premium GX 460 with every available option. I purchased my GX on 4/29 with the software update and I am extremely happy with my SUV choice. The fit and finish are exceptional, and the GX impresses with its quietness. I have also driven an LS 460 and I find the sound system in the GX to be very similar. During a long-distance trip to LA and back, I achieved 22.5 mpg round trip at an average speed of 68 miles per hour. The radar cruise control performs excellently, and the HID headlights are superb. If you're looking for a world-class SUV with top-notch features and comfort, you won't find a better option than the GX 460.

This is a great vehicle with a solid engine and stereo. Although the throttle response is a bit sluggish, a petal commander is a must-have to make the car come alive with a great V8 and a really smooth and responsive transmission. It's very relaxing to drive and comfortable, even for someone who is 6'2'' and 230lbs like me. It performs very well on rough trails, back roads, sand, and even some moderately technical terrain. I really appreciate the full-time 4-wheel drive.

I recently switched from a 2010 Range Rover to a 2011 Lexus GX 460 due to reliability issues. While Lexus is known for being a reliable car brand, I have noticed that this SUV feels quite top-heavy and the rear end has swung out on tight turns at higher speeds, which can be uncomfortable. Additionally, the interior is not as luxurious as I expected from a Lexus and is definitely not as nice as the 2003-2009 generation of this model. However, my friend has an 08' and loves it. The styling is also quite bland and closely resembles the 2011 Toyota 4 Runner both inside and out. The radio and phone controls can be a bit clumsy and confusing, and the interior looks and feels a bit cheap. Overall, I have mixed feelings about this SUV, but I am hopeful that it will prove to be a reliable choice in the long run.

I recently had the opportunity to drive a 2014 Land Cruiser for a few days and it left quite an impression on me! The vehicle had a very tough feel to it, with almost hydraulic-like steering and a raucous V8 engine. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Toyota could make such a 'macho' SUV. Intrigued by the legend of the Land Cruiser, I decided to try the GX460. While still a heavy beast, the steering was much softer and I didn't feel the road as much, although cornering was a bit top-heavy. The V8 engine was very powerful, but a bit loud under the hood. The interior was very refined, but unfortunately, the Land Cruiser is prone to rust and corrosion, particularly in the rear window hinge and bolts and screws. The 3rd row seat is electronic folding only and can break eventually. Overall, I found the Land Cruiser to be a bit of a rust bucket, and would personally prefer the Tahoe. However, if Toyota were to address the rust and corrosion issues, it could be a great option for those looking for a tough and reliable SUV.

I owned an old model, the GX470, for 8 years and recently purchased the new GX460 with high expectations. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a big mistake. Although the new GX460 is a larger and heavier SUV, Lexus engineers decided to put in a smaller engine. As a result, it is severely underpowered and I struggle to drive up hills to my home. I am also afraid to pass any car on the freeway due to its poor handling, which my son has also noticed and refused to drive. I am considering returning this SUV and hope that Lexus will take it back. I believe that Lexus needs to improve their design skills in many areas to keep up with the competition.
