2007 Jaguar Xj problems
The Jaguar XJ is a series of mid-size/full-size luxury cars produced by British automobile manufacturer Jaguar Cars (becoming Jaguar Land Rover in 2013) from 1968 to 2019. It was produced across five basic platform generations (debuting in 1968, 1986, 1994, 2003, and 2009) with various updated derivatives of each. From 1970, it was Jaguar's flagship four-door model. The original model was the last Jaguar saloon to have been designed under the leadership of Sir William Lyons, the company's founder, and the model has been featured in countless media and high-profile appearances.
Series 1, 2, and 3 (1968–1992)
Overview
The first generation Jaguar XJ was produced for a total period of 24 years, with two major facelifts – in 1973 and in 1979, with a raised front bumper and less tall grilles.
For four years, the 1968 introduced XJ was always a four-door, straight-six saloon on a 2.76 m (108.75 in) wheelbase. In 1972, a more spacious, 4-inch (10 cm) longer wheelbase (LWB) option, and a 5.3 litre V12 engine were added. On the XJ series II (from 1973), the standard wheelbase (SWB) saloons were cancelled in 1974 – but a SWB two-door (series II only) coupé was sold from 1975–1978.
The 1979 series III saloons received a redesigned greenhouse (upper body) and bumpers. The 6-cylinder series III models were replaced by the second generation Jaguar XJ in 1987, but the V12 models not until 1992.

Common 2007 Jaguar Xj problems
Based on complaints from owners of the Jaguar XJ 2007, several common problems have been reported:
- Corrosion: Despite being made from aluminum, Jaguar XJ models are prone to corrosion issues. The interaction between steel rivets and the aluminum body can lead to corrosion in the aluminum panels. This problem has affected some cars and can cause significant issues over time if not addressed promptly.
- Electronic System Malfunctions: The Jaguar XJ 2007 is equipped with a range of electronic features. Owners have reported issues with the electronic systems, including the on-board entertainment system and satellite navigation. It is crucial to ensure that all electronic functions are working correctly before purchasing a used Jaguar XJ 2007 to avoid potential costly repairs.
- Recalls: The Jaguar XJ 2007 has been subject to several recalls, including significant ones like reprogramming the gear selector module to prevent the car from going into reverse at high speeds. It is essential for potential buyers to check if any recalls have been addressed before purchasing the vehicle to ensure safety and reliability.
- Particulate Filter Maintenance: Diesel versions of the Jaguar XJ 2007 are equipped with particulate filters that require regular cleaning. These filters need a run at motorway speeds every couple of weeks to function properly. If the car is mainly driven in urban areas, a petrol model might be a more suitable choice to avoid issues related to the particulate filter.
These common problems reported by owners of the Jaguar XJ 2007 highlight the importance of thorough inspection and maintenance to ensure a smooth ownership experience and avoid potential costly repairs.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE,POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2012-12-21
- VIN: SAJWA51A87W
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE,POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: THE ENGINE STALLED OUT WHEN WE WERE TRAVELING IN THE PASSING LANE AT SPEED ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. WE HAD TO MOVE TO THE RIGHT SIDE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY IN FRONT OF ANOTHER VEHICLE WE HAD JUST PASSED AND OTHER TRAFFIC COMING CLOSE BEHIND. DEFINITELY A SCARY SITUATION FOR US AND THE OTHER DRIVERS. WE WERE TOWED TO THE NEAREST JAG DEALER. THE DEALER HAD OUR CAR FOR TWO WEEKS. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. THE SERVICE TECH'S TOLD US THAT THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF A FUEL PUMP GOING BAD IN AN X-TYPE. WHEN I QUESTIONED THE COST OF THE JOB, ABOUT $1450, I WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD TO BE REMOVED TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. SINCE THAT TIME, WE HAVE HAD A BATTERY REPLACED, THE SECOND FOR THIS CAR SINCE WE HAVE OWNED IT, AND HAD TO HAVE BRAKE PADS REPLACED, AT WHICH TIME, WE WERE TOLD THAT THE REAR BRAKES HAD A PROBLEM IN THE CALIPERS THAT CAUSED THE PADS TO SIT FURTHER FROM THE DISCS THAN THEY SHOULD. THIS BRAKE PROBLEM CAUSES US TO USE EXTRA PEDAL TRAVEL WHEN BRAKING THE CAR. THEN, ON DEC 9, 2013, THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FELL OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF OUR CAR. WE WERE ONLY DOING ABOUT 20 MPH SO THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, BUT WE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A JAG DEALER ABOUT 30 MILES AWAY. MY RESEARCH FOUND THAT WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS REMOVED, THE DIFFERENTIAL WOULD ALSO BE REMOVED. THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY THE SERVICE WRITER WHERE MY JAG WAS TOWED. ONE OF THE DIFFERENTIALS BOLTS BROKE WHERE IT APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN CRACKED, AS IF IT HAD BEEN OVER TORQUED WHEN INSTALLED! THE SERVICE WRITER ASKED TO SEE THE WORK ORDER FOR THE FUEL PUMP WORK, SO I ASKED HIM TO LOOK IT UP. HE WAS NOT ABLE TO FIND THE INFO, BECAUSE THE WORK WAS DONE OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE JAG SYSTEM DOES NOT RECORD OUT OF WARRANTY WORK! THAT IS PROBABLY WHY THE TECHS NEVER HEARD OF A FUEL PUMP GOING BAD OR A DIFFERENTIAL FALLING OUT OF A JAG CAR, EVEN THOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN EXAMPLES OF BOTH REPORTED HERE! *TR

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2012-01-27
- VIN: SAJWA51A27W
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS (1/27/12 AND 3/23/12) THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING 65-70 MPH ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE RESTARTED AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. FOR THE 1/27/12 EVENT, THE VEHICLE STALLED OUT IN THE PASSING LANE AND I HAD TO MAKE IT TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. THE DEALER DID NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE AFTER AN EXHAUSTIVE DIAGNOSIS. IT ALSO INCLUDED DRIVING THE VEHICLE OVER 400 MILES, MOST OF THEM AT A HIGH SPEED, IN AN ATTEMPT TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. IT DID STALL-OUT ONCE, AND THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER 30 MINUTES. THE SECOND EVENT WAS A MERGE FROM ONE INTERSTATE TO ANOTHER WITH THE VEHICLE STOPPING ON AN EXIT RAMP BRIDGE LEAVING LITTLE ROOM BETWEEN THE CAR AND BRIDGE WALL ON ONE SIDE AND THE EXIT RAMP ON THE OTHER. THIS RESULTED IN THE RECOMMENDATION TO REPLACE THE TWO FUEL PUMPS - WHICH I HAVE IN MY POSSESSION. I DO WANT TO POINT OUT THAT IN BOTH EVENTS WE WERE IN GREAT FEAR FOR OUR SAFETY. I ASSUME THIS IS NOT A COMMON PROBLEM, SINCE THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL OF THE FUEL PUMPS. I DID WANT TO REPORT IT IN CASE THERE IS AN EMERGING PROBLEM. *TR
