The Volkswagen Atlas is a mid-size crossover SUV manufactured by the German automaker Volkswagen since 2017. Developed mainly for the North American and Chinese market, the vehicle is based on the Volkswagen Group MQB platform. - Summary: I have a 2024 VW Atlas and the infotainment screen sporadically goes pixelated and it is very hard to use the touchscreen controls. When this happens the rearview camera is also impossible to use as the screen is all scrambled. I have in Massachusetts and now since it cold in the morning if the screen is scrambled it makes it very hard to control the heat and turn on the defroster. I will have to let my car sit in my driveway running for at least 20 minutes before I can see out the window. The car has been to VW 3 times now and nothing has been resolved. They are now telling me that they are waiting on a new software updated that will happen mid December. This is a major safety issue and needs to be resolved immediately. Looking online this is a MAJOR problem that VW is aware of but don't have a resolution to.

- Summary: when stopped at light or parked engine has rough idling, car is at dealership as of today 10/8/2024. It has been at dealership off and on for same issue for a total of 56 days. Vehicle only has 3000 miles. In regards to safety, we do not know if vehicle will shut off when at a stop light due to rough idling. The problem has been reproduced 3 separate times (have a video of the tachometer showing rough idle), the dealership has also reproduced problem. The vehicle has been inspected and check by Carolina Volkswagen dealership. They are in contact with the manufacturer. There were no warning lights, but we could see the rough idling on the tachometer. It happened intermittently upon purchased, but go progressively worse. We took it in on 7/25/2024 for 4 days. Took it again for same issue on 8/15/2024 they had it for 42 days. As soon as we got the vehicle back on 9/26/2024 they stated that replace the PVC value and that this fixed it. Unfortunately, the same day 9/26/24 the issue was not resolved as engine continue to have rough idle. Took it back on 9/27/24 and as of today 10/8/2024 our vehicle is still at Carolina Volkswagen dealership. Initially they stated it might be the Braked Booster and to us that is a safety concern.

- Summary: I was driving about 75 mph when my car alerted me that the engine had stopped and I needed to pull over immediately. The wheels continued to turn and the car was stuck in neutral. I pulled over and tried to push the SOS button which did not connect. I then tried to restart my car and it started but would not shift out of neutral. I called the police for help and my brand new car had to be towed. The tires then froze up after being put on the tow truck and would not release- even though the car was in neutral. When the car finally did start and shift after getting to the dealer ship, the car told me it was in emergency transmission mode. My safety was most definitely put at risk because my car turned off on the interstate for no apparent reason - i luckily was able to get to the emergency lane. I have taken it to the shop and of course they could no replicate this issue- there were no lights prior to this

- Summary: Windshield cracked without a significant event occurring. Windshield appears to be weaker or defective. I have driven over 220k miles on another vehicle and only replaced the windshield once due to hitting a deer! This was less than one year of having the atlas and it was a small rock at lower speeds (30-35mph). There are numerous other complaints of cracked windshields on this model, even multiple replacements. I admittedly drive 25-30k miles a year but have never had road debris crack a windshield like that. I could see if I was following a semi-truck or garbage truck and had something significant happen but I expect the windshield to hold up against minor rocks and other road debris hitting it. It cracked/spidered immediately.

The safety of myself and daughter at the time was very serious, but thankful, we came out with scratches and bruises. The problem has not been reproduce as I no longer have the truck. - Summary: On September 9, 2024, I experienced a serious and concerning issue with my 2024 Volkswagen Atlas that compromised the safety and comfort of the vehicle. After stopping at a gas station, I returned to my vehicle and started the engine. Immediately, an extremely loud humming/vibrating noise began inside the vehicle, which was unbearable. I turned off the vehicle, but the noise persisted. We attempted to turn off the radio and air controls and checked both the interior and exterior of the vehicle, but none of these actions helped locate the source or stop the noise. Standing outside with all doors shut, the noise remained clearly audible. After further investigation, we discovered that opening at least two vehicle doors would stop the noise. If only one door was opened, the noise would persist. This issue occurred regardless of whether the vehicle was on or off. We had to drive the vehicle with this noise in order to get my child to school. Afterward, we left the vehicle off with two doors open for about 10 minutes. When we revisited the vehicle and closed the doors, the noise was no longer present. The loud noise created a significant distraction, making it difficult to concentrate on driving, thereby posing a risk to my family, other drivers, and pedestrians. I have not had a chance to drive the vehicle again so the problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, nor has the vehicle been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others. During the occurrence of this issue, no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms indicated any problem with the vehicle; all systems displayed normal functioning.

- Summary: The Atlas has been in the dealer on several occasions due to shifting and acceleration. On a couple occasions when starting the Atlas the RPM's will redline with nothing touching the pedal and wont stop until we shut off the car. On several occasions the throttle has little to no response when pushing the pedal (Not safe when trying to merge or change lanes.) Almost once or twice a week the Atlas won't shift or will shift too soon. The infotainment screen has been replaced twice and needs another screen due to it not coming on or lines going through it. It has been to the dealer five times and nothing has been done to this Atlas about the throttle issue. The dealer is focused on the "infotainment screen" because it controls every part of the Atlas.

- Summary: Driving on 55MPH multi lane road in a heavy load of traffic. While driving at a steady rate of speed the engine, with the gas pedal depressed, suddenly increases in RPM's and is no longer keeping speed. Pressing the gas further only increases the RPM's but does not propel the vehicle. Very unsafe trying to navigate the vehicle to a safe stop withing traffic flow. Error Drive System message on dash. Previous to this even the same symptoms occur when accelerating out of a u-turn but did not show Drive System Error. Vehicle is unpredictable in normal driving conditions in regard to acceleration and engine response. It is a hazard on the road to both the occupants of the vehicle as well as the other vehicles on the road. Vehicle has been dropped off with the dealership for determination.

- Summary: On occasion, maybe 20% of the time when slowing down at an intersection or leaving a stop sign the car will stay in 3rd gear, I have verfied it is in 3rd gear by putting the transmission into sport mode so it will display the gear indicator, when this happens the car is very slow to respond unexpecting this to happen we have to put the car to the floor but by the time the vehicle reacts 5 to 10 seconds have gone by and the car continues to stay in 3rd regardless of the amount of throttle applied most of the time.we have had 2 very close incidents where this has happened and if the other driver had not slowed down we would have been hit. We have taken the car to Volkswagen of Desmoines and attempted to have them fix it at 10,000 miles but they said they could not replicate the issue. We took a 5 hour trip a few days ago and had this happen to us about 8 times.

- Summary: Around the end of May 2024, a rock/pebble put a barely noticeable knick in the windshield of the vehicle. On July 20, 2024, a crack formed that may or may not have originated from this knick....after driving 1600 more miles and while the vehicle was parked over night. I believe this is a defect in the craftsmanship of the windshield, as it should be able to hold up to a small pebble hitting it, and the fact that it cracked 1600 miles and two months later is absurd. I have read multiple reports of the same thing happening to their VW Atlas's.

The latch would not catch. - This put a toddler (in a carseat) at risk, as the door issue occurred in the rear of the car. - Luckily, there was an adult passenger who was able to manually hold the door shut to get the car to a safe location. -It has not yet been replicated or reviewed by the dealer, but an inspection is scheduled for next week. - No warnings appeared, and the car did not indicate that any doors were open, even when the door was fully ajar. - The car was purchased 62 days ago, as a new vehicle. And there have been no accidents.

- Summary: Our Vehicle's GPS system will not calibrate and the navigation system is completely off when driving. The affected safety and driving systems have caused our car to stop suddenly at freeway speeds on the freeway, As well, while driving in town, our safety deterrent systems will alert constantly due to the wrong location is being sent to the car. Volkswagen Company notified dealerships yesterday to prepare for an onslaught of consumer complaints about this issue. There is no expected timeline to deal with this directly as it is not a hardware issue but rather a cellular GPS issue with Verizon wireless. Volkswagen has no intent on dealing with the safety issues with this car and accepts that your car may stop suddenly on the freeway because the car thinks you are in a school zone. My family's safely comes first and we can no longer drive our car.

- Consequence: An obstructed brake fluid port can cause a loss of brake function, increasing the risk of a crash.

The rearview camera image may be delayed or deactivated after shifting into reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
- Consequence: A rearview camera with a delayed or deactivated image reduces the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

- Consequence: A damaged engine can result in engine failure and a stall, increasing the risk of a crash. In addition, engine failure may cause an oil leak which can increase the risk of a fire.

This is actually my second Atlas! The first one unfortunately got totaled in an accident (not my fault), but I loved it so much that I decided to get another one. I'm now driving a 2023 Atlas Sel premium R line and I love it just as much as the first one. I did a lot of research and looked at other brands like Mercedes, BMW, and Audi, but I'm really happy with the technology that VW offers at this price point.

Congratulations on your Pyrite Silver SUV! It looks outstanding and has great features that provide comfort. It's wonderful that you bought this for your wife's retirement. The SUV is luxurious and beautiful from every angle. The car is very quiet and the exterior lighting is impressive, including the courtesy lighting on the door and hatch. Although you have driven less than 1000 miles, it has already exceeded your demands. You considered other great options in the 3 row, v6, SUV category such as Cadillac, Honda, and Kia, but the roominess and aesthetics of this SUV won you over.

The driver's door has been producing a significant amount of wind noise. Despite having it inspected twice by the dealer, the noise has only slightly improved due to a faulty door seal. Additionally, there have been issues with the infotainment center and digital cockpit, both of which have malfunctioned. Despite only having the car for 4 months and driving 5K kms, VW has requested a charge for inspection. It is important to note that Toyota or Domestic brands may be a better option to consider.

Although the vehicle may not have all the desired features for its price, it still offers great value. It is important to note that the navigation system is only available in certain levels of the same model, but it can be easily accessed through a dedicated button. While there may have been some misunderstandings with the dealer, returning the vehicle is unfortunately not an option after purchase.

I love driving Atlas. However, the factory sound system has received negative feedback from thousands of users on multiple forums. It seems that VW has not yet addressed this issue. I was considering switching to the SEL Premium with the premium fender system, but unfortunately, it seems that this system is also not up to par.

The car lacks firm lumbar support and the infotainment system can be distracting. The assist systems could use some improvement. It would be easier to stay focused on the road if the controls were more intuitive and sensible. Despite this, the Tiguan is still an attractive car and comfortable to drive. The Cross Sport has a nice amount of rear space, but the reduced ground clearance may not be suitable for everyone. It can be frustrating to have to scroll through menus while driving. Overall, I had some issues with the car, but it was still a decent driving experience. I look forward to exploring other brands in the future. There is a slight draft coming from the footwell passage on the driver's right side that can't be managed, which can be uncomfortable. However, there is one setting that keeps the A/C off, which is useful in the winter. While the 2024 Cross Sport may not be for me, I am sure it will appeal to others.

I love the aesthetics of the New Atlas and the interior is well designed and spacious. However, I did notice that it wasn't as smooth to drive as I had hoped, and there was a decent amount of road noise when accelerating onto the highway.
