Negative 2019 Genesis G90 car reviews

  1. David Bradtke 2025-06-06

This car is undeniably a remarkable vehicle and an absolute joy to drive. Despite the unfortunate discontinuation of the Genesis brand by the dealership I purchased from in Jan 2020, I remain confident in the car's exceptional quality. While the Valet service was a significant selling point for me, I understand that it is provided by the dealership and is limited to a radius of about 50 miles from the dealership. Although I was disappointed to learn this, I remain satisfied with my purchase and the luxury experience it provides. My confidence in the Genesis brand remains unwavering, and I look forward to continuing to enjoy my exceptional vehicle.

  2. Blair Dietrich 2025-05-06

Hello, I am sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing with your 2018 G90. It must be frustrating to deal with this problem, especially when it comes to safety. Have you tried reaching out to Genesis Customer Care again to see if there are any updates on the issue? I hope you are able to find a resolution soon. Best of luck!

  3. Blair Walker 2024-10-02

I appreciate your interest in the car, but I must say that I was not impressed with it given the price. While Genesis is trying to establish itself as a separate brand from Hyundai, it may take some time for it to gain recognition in the luxury market. In my opinion, a new car without its own branding may depreciate significantly. For instance, if you took out a loan of $70,000.00 for 5 years to purchase this car, you would owe more on the loan than what the car is worth within 3 years. Additionally, the front end of the car resembles a Chrysler 300, which may not appeal to everyone. I currently own an Acura RL 2000, and I find the Bose audio in my car to be superior to the Genesis G-90. I believe that Genesis has some good new features, but the car is overpriced for the market. This is just my humble opinion, and I hope you find it helpful.

  4. Scottie Schumm 2024-06-11

This car has room for improvement in areas such as radio operation and presets. Additionally, the engine performance did not meet my expectations. However, it is still a good car overall.

  5. Joseph Ryan 2024-05-17

I have experienced poor customer service, particularly from Lisa in the case department (case #16737287). In the past, I have had to change the front tires three times within 8000 miles, resulting in significant delays. Based on my experience, I would advise against purchasing this car. However, I regret my decision to buy it.

Positive 2019 Genesis G90 car reviews

  1. Harold Hamill 2025-07-20

I have owned six Lexus vehicles and a Kia K900, but the Genesis is by far superior for the money and tops the others in all respects. I have had it for about five years and have only experienced one problem with the brakes locking. I have now had my G90 for three years and have had zero problems. In fact, it is one of the best cars I have ever owned, and I have owned about twenty-five cars. I find this Genesis to be overall better than a Lexus. A comparable Lexus vehicle would cost about $25,000 more. If you are considering buying a Genesis, I highly recommend that you do so. I hope you will not be disappointed.

  2. Adelbert Mills 2025-07-15

I have owned and driven luxury vehicles from Lincoln, Cadillac, and Audi, but I must say that this one is the best deal ever! While it may not have the same level of execution as my Audi's, which had better handling, ride, fuel economy, and technology, the cost to achieve that level of luxury is not justified. Genesis has done an excellent job creating a seriously comfortable car with lots of goodies to wow you. Despite the challenges that Genesis faces in moving these cars due to the popularity of SUVs and a lack of brand prestige, I was able to make an awesome deal at the end of the year because of incentives and get one for over $10K below list. What was already a great deal, became an awesome deal. At this price, I can sacrifice not having a perfect luxury and I don't need to impress anyone with a spiffy badge on the car. This car is amazing, and I love the comfort it provides. While it may not have the same performance as German automobiles and the fuel economy is not up to par with the competition, I am still getting an average of 23-24 mpg highway on ethanol blends, and 25-26 mpg on no ethanol premium. I can sacrifice some fuel economy for what I paid. The one big knock is the sound system, which occasionally shuts off on long trips. However, I have found a solution to this problem, which is to stop the car, turn it off, walk away to get the key fob out of range of the car and come back, start it up and go again. Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and affordable luxury car.I checked out the Genesis owners blog and noticed that many people have had similar experiences, but unfortunately, Genesis has not provided any solutions as this is a non-replicable problem. Despite this, I am still very pleased with my G90 after 3 years and 24,000 miles. The only other issue I have encountered is an occasional problem with the trunk release button on the dash not activating the trunk decklid. Other than that, this car has been a dream. It is incredibly comfortable, even on long road trips of 10 hours or more, unlike other vehicles I own. We have taken this car on 1000+ mile trips at least 4 times and have always loved the comfort it provides. The car does sit a bit low, especially when fully loaded, and can bottom out when going over some obstacles like speed bumps in parking lots. However, this is a minor issue compared to the overall satisfaction I have with this car. Although the new models have more eye appeal and refined features, I still believe that my purchase was an awesome value. The new models are now listed for $20K more than when I bought mine 3 years ago, but much of that can be attributed to inflation and increased brand recognition since Genesis has successfully launched Motor Trend winners like the G70, GV70, and this year the G90. Genesis' parent company, Hyundai, is now working with dealerships to require a separate facility for Genesis and Hyundai sales and service. As a result, there will be fewer Genesis dealerships as many have decided not to incur the expense of building a new facility for Genesis. In my opinion, not having separate facilities for the Genesis brand has hurt sales. Upscale buyers may not have wanted to feel like they were in a 'budget' facility that lacked upscale amenities available at other luxury dealerships. I believe this should be changed over the next couple of years.

  3. Kiel Herman 2025-07-06

I have driven my car for almost 15,000 miles now and I still think it's a very nice car. However, I have had some issues with the dealer's service. At 2800 miles, I experienced a blown-out rear tire on the highway. Continental said the tire could be replaced, but the dealership had to call them for a replacement. The dealer's service advisor told me 'I don't do that' and I had to pay for the replacement tire myself. To be fair to Genesis, I was later reimbursed for the tire, but not the cost of another temporary tire to get 2400 miles home as we were on a trip. Another issue I had was when the airbag light came on as I was getting ready for a trip to North Carolina from Arizona. The dealership said they fixed the problem, but 200 miles into the trip, the airbag light came on again. I couldn't get it fixed until I reached North Carolina. 350 miles into the return trip, the airbag light came on again and I had to travel all the way back to Arizona before it could be fixed for the third time. Now, I am experiencing a problem with the heating system and it took 3 days before I could get it looked at. It has now been in the shop for over 2 weeks and I am driving a Hyundai Sonata while paying for a G90 Ultimate. The part for the heating system water line broke and no one has the part. The repair has been promised but put off 3 different times as there is no part for the dealer. The dealer has no G90 loaner as they are still waiting for new Genesis vehicles to come in. Despite these issues, I still think the car is great for the money. It rides like it was made for the highway and like a true luxury car, not a sports coupe. It has almost every safety feature you could ask for. While it burns more fuel in the city, it is not an economy box and not meant to be. Although I had some issues with the service, I still like the car. I hope Genesis can improve their service in the future. For my next car, I will go back to a KIA K900 as my service with the last one was great and I had no problems at all. That dealership always had a loaner car waiting for me at service time and the waiting room was even better. Overall, I still think the car is a great deal and I would recommend it.Although the car doesn't have automatic parking, I personally enjoy parking my own car. The lane keep feature could use a little improvement, but overall there are only a few things I would have liked to see added. These include a power sun roof shade, two more USB ports, front seat extenders for the passenger seat, front door map pockets with flip-out sides like the KIA K900, water bottle holders built into the front map pockets on both sides, a touch screen for all functions, Apple CarPlay and Android Play, input for rear screens for game controllers and Bluetooth headphones, a DVD player in the back seat for the rear screens, and mobile hotspot and internet access. These are not deal breakers, but I wanted potential buyers to know what I noticed could be added. Now for the good news: this car rides so smoothly and has plenty of power. I recommend keeping the ESP turned on as it can spin the tires without it. The car almost drives itself when you use the lane keep and cruise control features. The seats are incredibly comfortable and seem to be even more comfortable than the BMW 7 or the Mercedes S seats. I highly recommend trying them out for yourself. The price is also very reasonable. Don't miss out on this car. Call Genesis and they will bring a car to you for a test drive. I have had absolutely no problems with the car and the delivery was perfect. They took great care of me. I took a 3-year lease and there are no maintenance costs involved. They even cover oil changes, wiper blades, and brake pads. I get 18,000 miles per year and have coverage, so there are no extra charges for scratches, dings, wear and tear, or worn tires at the end of the lease. The dealer offers to wash my car for free anytime I want, and they even provide a free Genesis loaner car for all maintenance. While there may be more refined cars out there, they come with a hefty price tag of up to $40,000 more for the same features. The Genesis comes with everything standard, so there are no hidden costs. There are too many good things to list about this car, so I encourage you to check it out for yourself. I'm looking forward to lots of summer travel!

  4. German Buckridge 2025-07-06

I found the conservative exterior design a little too conservative, but the interior more than made up for it. Instead of calling the interior conservative, I would describe it as classic, in the best possible way. It was so opulent that during the test drive, I wondered if it was a little TOO opulent. As a gay man who loves fine dark wood antique furniture, that is saying something. I haven't purchased one yet, but I think the somewhat conservative exterior design would look better in black or a richer color. The lines of the car are really nice, even if unassuming. I drove the V8 top of the line, and the rear seating area was almost of limousine proportions where one could control most of the car from the back. I found myself thinking that this much effort on the rear compartment was a bit of a waste for a single man! But the V8 and rear wheel drive were a really nice combination. There was nothing mechanically I would be unhappy with. If you drive it the way this kind of car is meant to be used, I think most people would be very pleased with it. Without being as nit-picky as professional car reviewers are, I thought the fit and finish was very well carried off, and nothing in the interior switch gear, etc, stuck out as being cheap or substandard. My favorite thing about it all is that this really wonderful car has been brought to fruition by a company I wouldn't have sneezed at 20 years ago. I would be proud to drive a Genesis just because I like the idea of driving a wonderful car that IS NOT what everyone else out there is hankering for. It is quite a bit nicer than the first of the Lexus vehicles Toyota came out with.

  5. Talon Harris 2025-06-12

I recently test drove the G90 Ultimate AWD and was thoroughly impressed. Having previously driven the Equus, I noticed a significant improvement in refinement, particularly in the comfortable seats and updated electronics. The drive itself was superior to any other car I have experienced. At such a great price point, I cannot recommend the Genesis G90 enough. If you are in the market for a luxury large sedan, I highly suggest taking the G90 for a test drive. You will be pleasantly surprised!
