Common 2022 Genesis G90 problems

The 2022 Genesis G90 is known for its safety and lack of common problems and maintenance issues that have affected earlier models.

Poor emergency handling can be a serious issue, as it can affect the safety of the vehicle during unexpected situations. This problem can be caused by various factors, such as worn-out suspension components or incorrect tire pressure. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent this issue, but if it occurs, it can be costly to fix.

Broken shock absorbers can affect the ride quality and handling of the vehicle. This problem can be caused by worn-out or damaged shock absorbers, which can lead to a bumpy ride and reduced stability. Replacing the shock absorbers can be a relatively simple and affordable fix, but if left unattended, it can lead to more serious problems.

Headlights going out early can be a safety hazard, especially during nighttime driving. This problem can be caused by various factors, such as worn-out bulbs or faulty wiring. Replacing the bulbs or fixing the wiring can be a relatively simple and affordable fix, but if it occurs frequently, it can be a sign of a more serious problem.

This problem can be caused by various factors, such as worn-out or damaged actuators, which can lead to the door not locking or unlocking properly. Replacing the actuators can be a relatively simple and affordable fix, but if it occurs frequently, it can be a sign of a more serious problem.

It is important to note that most of these issues are relatively minor, but they can still affect the safety and performance of the vehicle. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent these issues, but if they occur, it is important to address them promptly to ensure the safety and performance of the vehicle.

Is the Genesis G90 a reliable car?

The Genesis G90 is, overall, not a very reliable line of vehicles. However, a recent push from Hyundai looks to be changing that. The 2023 Genesis G90's reliability ratings are quite positive so far, and they might stay that way.

How long will a Genesis G90 last?

The Genesis G90 can last for more than 40,000 miles and even up to 100,000 or more miles without many issues.

How long will G90 last?

If the rate of corrosion were, for example, 0.05 mil/year [1.25 μm/year], the life of a G90 coating would be approximately 16 to 17 years, since a G90 coating is approximately 0.83 mil [21 μm] thick on each side of the coated steel sheet.

Are Genesis cars long lasting?

In fact, Genesis has always ranked among the 10 most reliable brands according to J.D. Power, including a first-place finish in the 2020 ranking, which concerned 2017 models.

SEATS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-04-06
  • VIN: KMTF34PA5NU
  • Components: SEATS
  • Summary: Seat memory #1 was working when I purchased the vehicle on 9/30/2021. Meaning as I got into and started the vehicle the seat automatically went into the correct driver's position to safely drive the vehicle. It was later learned that one of the options on the vehicle was an easy out feature. Meaning the seat would move back all the way so the driver could easily exit the vehicle. The seat at this time did not go back all the way. So, the dealership installed the new part on April 6, 2022, to correct the easy out feature. After the new part was installed the seat memory for #1 would not work at all as before. Meaning the seat would not go into the number #1 position to drive the vehicle safely. Also, the new part after the installation did not correct the easy out situation either meaning the seat will not move all the way back at all for an easy out. Now when I get out of the vehicle, I have to manually repeat manually move the seat all the way back and down to force myself repeat force myself to hit the number #1 seat position when I get back into the vehicle to reset the seat in order to safety drive the vehicle. The dealership has said per Genesis the seat is operating as designed. I was not informed of this design flaw when I purchased the vehicle and if I was, I never would have purchased the vehicle.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-03-01
  • VIN: KMTF34PA3NU
  • Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
  • Summary: Hello. We came within one foot of running over a jogger and had pedestrian avoidance activated. I read the owners manual and found disclaimer that PA does not work in dark and for other scenarios. The PDA is essentially a daytime pedestrian avoidance and does not work half the day. Indeed many other safety features such as lane keep assist do not perform as sales people disclosed. There needs to be much better disclosure (such as with medications) about limitations of new safety features. I specifically said the reason I was buying a car was to update safety, especially PDA to avoid my grandkids, bikes and joggers. I was not fully disclosed. Many might trade-in cars to update to new features to include those who can barely afford a new car. Then become trapped due to "drive off the lot" depreciation and cannot afford a car which does perform as needed. They may be better served by waiting another year or so until PDA etc would perform as they should. I am blessed and can afford to withstand the "hit." Agree that safety features are a step in the right direction and is new territory for regulation We must in my opinion have regulations for full disclosure of safety features limitations before a sale is made. We do not all read the owner's manual before purchase and do rely on truthful sales people. Safety is not a "buyer's beware" territory. The car I purchased happened to be a Genesis, but I think this is a problem across many manufacturers. I used to do forensic pathology and know fully well what traffic safety is about. Thank you for listening. I am not writing this for any personal reason as this was a near miss with no damage done. This I think is a general problem and just wanted for your agency to have increased awareness. [XXX] MD INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Negative 2022 Genesis G90 car reviews

  1. Napoleon Watsica 2024-11-04

I wanted to share my experience with the Genesis vehicle. I loved it for 11 months, but then I started experiencing some trouble. Despite owning several Mercedes and a couple of BMWs, I decided to buy a full-size luxury sedan, and what really attracted me to Genesis was the concierge service they offered. However, I live 50 minutes away from the nearest dealership, and I had some trouble with the service. During my first two PMs, I had to call three times and talk to three different people, all of whom told me I was not covered. After finally getting an appointment, they did not show up, and the same thing happened on the second PM appointment. It took three more appointments, and each time it took three 45-minute phone calls to reschedule another. I probably spent 10 hours on the phone arranging PMs. A month after my second PM, the vehicle shut down while I was pulling off the interstate. It had been shaking after decelerating from higher speeds for several weeks. It had to be towed back to the dealer, and it took them a week to even look at my car. The service manager told me they were busy. First, they blamed my gas and charged me $600 to remove the gas. Then it took two weeks to get parts, and two more weeks to get more parts. Fuel injectors and sensors were replaced, but the car has never run the same since. For the last six months, it still shakes when decelerating, and service cannot find the cause or reproduce the issue. Apple CarPlay shuts down after 20 minutes, dashboard settings and units change without touching it, and the screen goes blank. I cannot get anything done about it. In June, a crack formed in the center of the windshield. Safelight looked at it and said it was defective, and there was no sign of impact. The windshield could not be found, but my customer service rep found an OEM one for me and arranged for the dealer to replace it. She said it would be paid for by Genesis. After the windshield was changed, and I assume the old one was destroyed, they gave me a bill for $2900. Unfortunately, the windshield cracked again just 3 months later. In my 40 years of driving, I have never had a cracked windshield before. There are probably a few other things I am forgetting. I must say that the customer service for a vehicle that costs $100k is not up to par, and opening a case on their customer support line is not very helpful. They have no way of communicating except through the Genesis portal. I have asked to talk to a supervisor at least a dozen times, but unfortunately, nothing has been done yet!

  2. Hank Lynch 2024-07-26

I have experienced poor customer service, particularly from Lisa in the case department (case #16737287). In the past, I have had to change the front tires three times within 8000 miles, resulting in significant delays. Based on my experience, I would advise against purchasing this car. However, I regret my decision to buy it.

Positive 2022 Genesis G90 car reviews

  1. Lukas Considine 2025-01-06

The Genesis people have made buying additional packages for your luxury vehicle hassle-free. The vehicle comes packed with impressive function, design, and technology. The ride is tireless and impressively comfortable. It's a great machine!

  2. Amani Harber 2024-11-08

I absolutely adore my 2020 Genesis G90! As a car enthusiast who has owned over 25 cars, including a Mercedes 600 sedan and multiple other Mercedes and Lexus models, I can confidently say that the Genesis is at the top of my list, if not number one. I opted for the V6 twin turbo as a family man who didn't want my kids to have all the controls in the backseat, and I'm still impressed with its quickness when needed while getting a nice 20 mpg and almost 500 miles per tank full. The interior is incredibly quiet and the sound system is delightful. The 2020 model is especially luxurious with Nappa leather and real wood throughout. Even young men have complimented my sporty rims! Living in Colorado, I also appreciate the AWD. I feel truly blessed and plan on driving this car to 100,000 miles to see its quality last. I give this vehicle 5 stars across the board!

  3. Denis Kovacek 2024-09-26

Don't make any purchases until you've had a chance to test drive the G90! It left a great impression on me and I'm sure it will do the same for you. I recently acquired the 2017 model and am already considering adding the newly released 2020 G90 to my collection. But don't just take my word for it, take it for a spin and let me know your thoughts!

  4. Jacey Pfeffer 2024-09-18

After reading negative reviews of the then forthcoming Lexus 500 LS, I decided to consider replacing my 460 LS with the G90 instead of getting another LS (which would have been my fourth). Due to the beginning of Covid, I could only find a 2019 version for my test drive. Nevertheless, it blew me away! I wasn't expecting the heads-up display, which is what first caught my attention. The self-driving aspects of the car were intuitive and easy to change, and the ride was smooth and fast, even better than my 2017 LS. So, I purchased the 2020 AWD version. I have now driven the car for a year and still marvel at how much I enjoy it. On my drives from Texas to Colorado, which takes about 11 hours, it is great to be able to just put a hand on the wheel and have the car largely drive itself. The Lexicon sound system is better than the Mark Levinson systems in the Lexus. The car is faster and smoother than the Lexus. Although the dealership experience is not as good, the car is soooo enjoyable and reasonably priced. This is the best car I have ever owned, and I love it! Updated 4/20: The car still drives great, but the electronic add-ins leave something to be desired. My dealer tells me I can no longer get weather forecasts because I do not subscribe to Sirius. Genesis says that is not the case at all. Also, except when you are in a large city, the weather, gasoline price, and other data are unavailable. Genesis should work out their problems getting this information to the driver. Other brands can do it. 4/23: Still a great car. It has been reliable. My only complaint is still the lack of information in rural areas.

  5. Raleigh Kunze 2024-09-04

I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying this car! It sounds like it's providing you with a fantastic driving experience.
