The Fusion Hybrid has won the 2010 North American Car of the Year Award, and the entire 2013 Ford Fusion line-up, including the Fusion hybrid and plug-in variants, won the 2013 Green Car of the Year. As of December 2016, over 285,000 units of the Fusion hybrid family have been sold in the United States since 2009, including the plug-in hybrid variant. As of December 2016, sales of the Fusion Energi totaled 43,327 units delivered in its main market, the U.S.

- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 120V Convenience charge cords that were supplied with and sold for use with 2013-2015 Ford C-Max Energi and Fusion Energi vehicles and 2012-2015 Ford Focus Electric vehicles. Cords with part numbers FM58-10B706-AA, FM58-10B706-AB, FM58-10B706-AC, FM58-10B706-AD, FM58-10B706-AE and FM58-10B706-AF were manufactured without thermistors, and during vehicle charging, increased resistance in the house's outlet or wiring can cause the cord to overheat and melt.
- Consequence: An overheated cord can increase the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the current cord with a new 120V convenience cord with a thermistor, free of charge. The recall began January 18, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S24.

I bought my 2014 model in March of that year and have now driven over 20,000 miles. I live in Pennsylvania, which has many hills and valleys, hot, humid summers, and cold winters. Most of my driving is local, although I do take many trips of 50 miles or more, including a trip to Colorado, Georgia, and Canada. That said, the only times I got less than 50 mpg were the first two tanks of gas (47 and 49) and during the winter months because most of my driving was local and the car would take time to warm up. Since owning the vehicle, my overall mileage is better than 53 mpg, and this last tank gave me 60 mpg for the first time. The secret is in how you drive it. My car is no different than the ones claiming lower mileage. However, there is one problem - the driver cannot see the front of the vehicle, which makes it very difficult to judge the distance of those pesky little parking stops in parking lots. I normally drive right up over them - not to mention an awkwardly placed median strip on a side road in West Virginia. I turned and never saw the median strip until I heard it going under my car - needless to say, this removed the piece under the bumper. I realize the design of the car is to give it the best mileage, but I also believe safety should be the first concern. This is dangerous. UPDATE! It is now January 2018, and I have made the grave mistake of trading the Fusion for a Malibu Hybrid. I have only owned the Malibu for 8 months, but it does not come close to the Fusion overall. With the exception of storage and maybe comfort, the Malibu falls way short of the overall performance of the Fusion, especially the mileage, which averages about 14 mpg less...

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my Fusion SE Hybrid that I purchased on 2-26-14. I'm really happy to report that I'm averaging 40.5 mpg so far, which is fantastic! On my last tank, I traveled 415 miles and still had more than 1/4 tank left, which means I can go another 160 miles before I need to fill up again. It's worth noting that this car has a 13.5 gallon tank, which is smaller than many of its non-hybrid competitors, like the Nissan Altima's 18.5 gallon tank. But, I think that's a small price to pay for such great fuel efficiency! The Fusion is also incredibly smooth and quiet, much more so than my 2008 Honda Accord EXL V6. I got a great deal on it too - I paid $24,178 (including the $150 document fee) plus taxes and title, which is $3,913 off the MSRP of $28,100. I financed the car at 1.65% through RBFCU in San Antonio for 48 months. Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend the Fusion SE Hybrid to anyone looking for a fuel-efficient and comfortable ride!

I really wanted the Mustang, but unfortunately, with a teenage son in the family, there was no way to fit him in the back seat. Therefore, I needed to purchase a family sedan. I never thought I would buy a hybrid, but I am very glad that I did. Initially, I almost didn't even test drive it. However, at another dealership, I decided to give the hybrid a try and I'm glad I did. The electrics give it a nice punch with some added torque that makes up for the missing horsepower even with the combined engine/electric rating of only 188hp. That is one of the advantages of electric motors, the full torque of the motor is available almost instantly across the full range of RPM. What I really enjoy about it though is that it gives me on average about 40mpg. Once you get used to driving a hybrid, it's pretty easy to keep your mileage close to or even above the rated values. I often get around 50mpg on my commute (as reported by the on-board computer at the end of each trip). However, the one thing that I don't like about it is the MyFord Sync entertainment system. It's been widely reported that it is simply not a user-friendly interface and they are correct. It's got some maddening deficiencies. For instance, pressing the 'media' button repeatedly should cycle through the available media inputs on the stereo, but you have to use either the voice interface to tell it to switch from line input to USB input, or go several layers deep into the media menu to do so. There are other user interface mistakes like this as well.

Hi there! Just wanted to give you a quick update on the Fusion Hybrid. I'm happy to report that everything is still going great with the car, even at 35K miles. The only issue I had was a malfunction in the retention spring in the front passenger grab bar, but that was an easy fix. Overall, I'm still extremely pleased with my purchase - no squeaks, rattles, leaks, or malfunctions to report. Thanks for checking in!

Hi there! I just wanted to share that I'm currently getting about 38 mpg with my hybrid, even though I tend to drive fairly hard. I also wanted to mention that my car is towed behind a class A RV, and the hookup for towing is super easy and excellent!

I have put a lot of miles on my car under various conditions. Although I live in Southern California, I cannot attest to significant changes in weather. When I bought this car, it had a rated MPG of 47/47. Ford sent me a check for $750 when they corrected the ratings. While this did not cover the amount of savings I had anticipated, it was still a nice gesture. The car is beautiful and has had minimal problems. It takes some getting used to its size as it feels like a boat. The departure angles on inclines/declines are not good due to the air dam. Unfortunately, my front paint has already begun to wear on the front bumper from so much driving. As of May 2018, I have relocated to Texas and still driving. Repair costs have been next to none outside of general maintenance. I barely use MyFord Touch w/ Navigation thanks to Bluetooth/Cellphone. The vehicle has held up extremely well, and gas mileage is the same if not better than when originally purchased. However, you have to drive it like your grandma stole it to see MPG benefit. I have had about 4 recalls, which were easy to have done and nothing that prevented me from driving the Fusion on a daily basis.

I purchased the 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid SE in June of 2014 and have driven 35K miles. Despite the advertised 47/47 MPG, I have only been able to achieve 38 MPG, which is disappointing as fuel efficiency was a key factor in my purchase decision. However, I appreciate that Ford promptly issued me a $700 check for 1 year of fuel and apologized for the miscalculation. While I would have preferred a refund or a check that covers my 8 year/125K warranty, I am confident that Ford will continue to work towards improving their products. Although I had planned on replacing my second vehicle with a F-150, I am still considering all options and will make a decision based on what best suits my needs.

I paid $38,600 for it less than 4 years ago and I've been walking for 6 months now. It ran out of gas and hasn't started since. The 2014 Fusion Hybrid did not meet its mpg claims. It is unlikely to achieve more than 34mpg from normal driving and 38mpg from hybrid driving. In comparison to the Prius, which achieves its claimed mpg numbers when driven normally, the Fusion Hybrid falls short of its 47mpg claim unless the driving conditions are optimal. The MyTouch system can be challenging to use, requiring numerous inputs. The navigation system can be particularly difficult to use, so we prefer to use our phones instead.

Hi there! I recently returned my car after driving it for a week. Unfortunately, I found that the gas mileage was not as good as I had hoped. After some back and forth with Ford, they agreed to unwind the deal. It turns out that consumer reports and studies were coming out saying that the gas mileage was grossly over exaggerated. The car was getting 29 mpg on the highway and 38-39 mpg in the city, but only if you drove very conservatively. If you accelerated quickly, turned on the air conditioning, or went up a hill, the gas mileage would decrease a bit.
