The Ford Fusion Hybrid is a gasoline-electric hybrid powered version of the mid-sized Ford Fusion sedan manufactured and marketed by Ford, now in its second generation. A plug-in hybrid version, the Ford Fusion Energi, was released in the U.S. in February 2013.

The first generation was launched to the U.S. market in March 2009 for model year 2010, together with its badge-engineered variants, the Mercury Milan Hybrid and the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. The second generation was launched under the Ford and Lincoln brands for model year 2013, went on sale in the U.S. in October 2012.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rated the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid at 39 mpg‑US (6.0 L/100 km; 47 mpg‑imp) combined city/highway. The second generation hybrid improved the fuel economy rating to 42 mpg‑US (5.6 L/100 km; 50 mpg‑imp) for combined city/highway driving. The EPA rated the Energi's combined city/highway fuel economy in all-electric mode at 88 miles per gallon gasoline equivalent (MPG-e) (2.7 L gasoline equivalent/100 km; 106 mpg-imp). In hybrid operation (charge-sustaining mode), the Energi has a combined fuel economy of 38 mpg‑US (6.2 L/100 km; 46 mpg‑imp).

The Fusion Hybrid has won the 2010 North American Car of the Year Award, and the entire 2013 Ford Fusion line-up, including the Fusion hybrid and plug-in variants, won the 2013 Green Car of the Year. As of December 2016, over 285,000 units of the Fusion hybrid family have been sold in the United States since 2009, including the plug-in hybrid variant. Negative 2014 Ford Fusion hybrid car reviews

Hey there! I wanted to share my experience with my 2014 Ford Fusion. Unfortunately, I've had some issues with it and I wouldn't recommend buying one. I paid $38,600 for it less than 4 years ago and I've been walking for 6 months now. It ran out of gas and hasn't started since. The repair shop wants to charge me $650 just to charge it, which I can't afford right now. Just wanted to give you a heads up!

  2. Earnest Predovic 2024-09-09

The 2014 Fusion Hybrid did not meet its mpg claims. It is unlikely to achieve more than 34mpg from normal driving and 38mpg from hybrid driving. In comparison to the Prius, which achieves its claimed mpg numbers when driven normally, the Fusion Hybrid falls short of its 47mpg claim unless the driving conditions are optimal. The MyTouch system can be challenging to use, requiring numerous inputs. The navigation system can be particularly difficult to use, so we prefer to use our phones instead.

  3. Denis Hagenes 2024-08-26

Hi there! I recently returned my car after driving it for a week. Unfortunately, I found that the gas mileage was not as good as I had hoped. After some back and forth with Ford, they agreed to unwind the deal. It turns out that consumer reports and studies were coming out saying that the gas mileage was grossly over exaggerated. The car was getting 29 mpg on the highway and 38-39 mpg in the city, but only if you drove very conservatively. If you accelerated quickly, turned on the air conditioning, or went up a hill, the gas mileage would decrease a bit.

  4. Mason Hilpert 2024-08-08

The MPG is great, averaging around 40. However, the suspension can be uncomfortable over any kind of bumps. The brake has a very weird feeling, making it hard to achieve a perfect complete stop. Sometimes it brakes really hard with only 1/3 of the brake pedal pressed, while other times I have to slam on the brake to make it stop. Additionally, the trunk is quite small due to the hybrid battery, and the passenger front seat has no height adjustment. Overall, there are some drawbacks, but the fuel efficiency is definitely a plus!

  5. Aurelio Smitham 2024-08-07

Despite having only 25k on my vehicle, I have been experiencing issues with the car not starting and having no power. Even the alarm does not work properly. However, I can confidently say that this vehicle is not worth recommending to anyone.

Positive 2014 Ford Fusion hybrid car reviews

  1. Hubert Gusikowski 2025-01-08

I really wanted the Mustang, but unfortunately, with a teenage son in the family, there was no way to fit him in the back seat. Therefore, I needed to purchase a family sedan. I never thought I would buy a hybrid, but I am very glad that I did. Initially, I almost didn't even test drive it. However, at another dealership, I decided to give the hybrid a try and I'm glad I did. The electrics give it a nice punch with some added torque that makes up for the missing horsepower even with the combined engine/electric rating of only 188hp. That is one of the advantages of electric motors, the full torque of the motor is available almost instantly across the full range of RPM. What I really enjoy about it though is that it gives me on average about 40mpg. Once you get used to driving a hybrid, it's pretty easy to keep your mileage close to or even above the rated values. I often get around 50mpg on my commute (as reported by the on-board computer at the end of each trip). However, the one thing that I don't like about it is the MyFord Sync entertainment system. It's been widely reported that it is simply not a user-friendly interface and they are correct. It's got some maddening deficiencies. For instance, pressing the 'media' button repeatedly should cycle through the available media inputs on the stereo, but you have to use either the voice interface to tell it to switch from line input to USB input, or go several layers deep into the media menu to do so. There are other user interface mistakes like this as well.

Hi there! Just wanted to give you a quick update on the Fusion Hybrid. I'm happy to report that everything is still going great with the car, even at 35K miles. The only issue I had was a malfunction in the retention spring in the front passenger grab bar, but that was an easy fix. Overall, I'm still extremely pleased with my purchase - no squeaks, rattles, leaks, or malfunctions to report. Thanks for checking in!

  3. Aaron Ryan 2024-11-01

Hi there! I just wanted to share that I'm currently getting about 38 mpg with my hybrid, even though I tend to drive fairly hard. I also wanted to mention that my car is towed behind a class A RV, and the hookup for towing is super easy and excellent!

  4. Federico Lang 2024-10-26

I've read other reviews on the 2013 and 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid and noticed many complaints about the gas mileage. However, I'm thrilled to report that with my 2014 model, I'm currently averaging 47 mpg. If you're considering purchasing this car, it's because you want to save money on gas and increase your mpg. To achieve this, you must learn how to drive the car in all conditions and understand how the hybrid motor works to maximize your mpg. It's not meant to be driven like a regular gas motor car, but if you can adapt to this and want to maximize your fuel economy, this is the perfect car for you. The interior is absolutely amazing and comfortable too! Why not go and take a look for yourself?

  5. Tate Block 2024-10-02

Love the car, best decision ever! The Titanium is the best car I've owned. It has 10 positions for the driver's seat, and it even raises up! It's so quiet that my husband and I kept forgetting to turn it off. You won't regret the purchase. This car was three years old with only 5,600 miles on it - what a great buy!
