The second generation hybrid improved the fuel economy rating to 42 mpg‑US (5.6 L/100 km; 50 mpg‑imp) for combined city/highway driving. The EPA rated the Energi's combined city/highway fuel economy in all-electric mode at 88 miles per gallon gasoline equivalent (MPG-e) (2.7 L gasoline equivalent/100 km; 106 mpg-imp). In hybrid operation (charge-sustaining mode), the Energi has a combined fuel economy of 38 mpg‑US (6.2 L/100 km; 46 mpg‑imp).

The Fusion Hybrid has won the 2010 North American Car of the Year Award, and the entire 2013 Ford Fusion line-up, including the Fusion hybrid and plug-in variants, won the 2013 Green Car of the Year. As of December 2016, over 285,000 units of the Fusion hybrid family have been sold in the United States since 2009, including the plug-in hybrid variant. Negative 2014 Ford Fusion energi car reviews

  1. Arch Steuber 2025-01-23

My car lost power on the freeway while I was driving in the car pool lane with no shoulder. Although I had plenty of gas, it did not switch over. The dealer updated the modules, but unfortunately, there seems to be a recurring problem with the modules on this car. I have had to update them numerous times for everything from the windows not working properly to not switching over to gas power and time of use charging option. Unfortunately, I am no longer under warranty due to the mileage and am being charged to update modules that seem to malfunction randomly. It's frustrating to think that this car could end up costing me a small fortune just in updates. I hope the dealer can find a more permanent solution to this issue.

  2. Jaylan Goodwin 2024-07-10

For the most part, it's a good car. Although, there are a few things that could be improved. Unfortunately, it's not possible to recharge in the rain without damaging the power inlet door. Additionally, the garage door opener doesn't seem to work and the cruise control can be dangerous in the rain at dusk. Lastly, the navigation system only works in the state where the car was purchased. Despite these issues, I still appreciate the car and its features.

  3. Horace Langworth 2024-01-20

Although some people seem to love the Ford Fusion, I have had a very different experience with it. In my opinion, the car is too heavy and lacks sufficient storage space. Additionally, the cup holders are poorly placed and the sound system and heating/cooling controls are not user-friendly. The electric charge on my Ford Fusion has decreased significantly, making it not worth charging at all. Furthermore, the car is expensive to repair and often requires multiple visits to the mechanic. Unfortunately, I have had a number of negative experiences with this vehicle. However, I understand that everyone has different preferences when it comes to cars and I respect those who enjoy driving a Ford Fusion.

Positive 2014 Ford Fusion energi car reviews

  1. Dennis Kassulke 2025-01-22

It sounds like you made a great choice with this vehicle! The handling and driving are amazing, and the interior is top-notch, especially in the Titanium trim. It's great to hear that it's living up to its promises and that you're not experiencing any issues with charging or gas usage. The keyless start and entry are also a fantastic feature. Just be aware that using the heater may cause quicker battery depletion. Overall, it sounds like you're really enjoying your new ride!

  2. Kyle Glover 2025-01-12

Great to hear that you're enjoying your car! It sounds like it's been a reliable and comfortable choice for your daily commute. The mileage is impressive and it's great that you've been able to maintain its appearance. It's also good to know that there's plenty of room in the back. Thanks for sharing your positive experience!

  3. Ben Auer 2025-01-09

I leased a 2013 Titanium Fusion Energi mainly because of its fuel economy during a time when gas prices were high. Despite a few recalls and one significant engine failure, I was happy with the car's performance. The dealership always provided me with a loaner and never charged me for repairs. Unfortunately, my driving habits often took me beyond the 20-mile range, but over the course of three years, I averaged about 64 mpg overall - not too shabby regardless of the fuel cost. As I have some environmentally conscious children, the plug-in hybrid kept me in their good graces. The only downside for me was the small trunk that couldn't even hold a set of golf clubs. However, I got used to using the back seat, which was okay once I adjusted. The interior is a bit tight, but very comfortable. I'm not a fan of Ford Sync, but I don't use a lot of technology while driving anyway. Despite the few negatives, when my lease came up, I opted for another Fusion Energi - this time a nice metallic white 2016 Energi Luxury SE with most of the options. I would have bought out the 2013 car, but the residual value was too high. The new lease has a much better buyout number when the lease expires. With over $10,000 in rebates, the price was acceptable, so I'm thrilled to keep plugging in every time I pull into my driveway. As an Energi driver, I'm very pleased!

  4. Dedrick Krajcik 2024-10-16

The e-miles I receive are satisfactory as I drive less than 21 miles per day. However, the trunk is not very spacious. If Lincoln were to introduce a plug-in hybrid, I would definitely consider it for my next car. I believe it would perform better in terms of noise reduction and other aspects. I am disappointed that Ford is discontinuing the Fusion Plug-in Hybrid in 2020, which is preventing me from making another purchase. I will explore other options such as Volvo, Hyundai, Subaru (as they are launching a hybrid plug-in in 2020), and possibly VW. Although I appreciate the concept of using a small gas engine to recharge the HV battery while driving, I am not interested in the Chevy Volt (or Bolt).

  5. Jarod Terry 2024-09-27

This car has received great reviews from experts, and for good reason! Despite the decrease in gas prices, it remains a refined, quiet, and well-mannered vehicle with excellent electronic controls, gas mileage, and safety features. The only issue is the price, but with the lowering of gas prices, the sales price should improve.
