In hybrid operation (charge-sustaining mode), the Energi has a combined fuel economy of 38 mpg‑US (6.2 L/100 km; 46 mpg‑imp).
The Fusion Hybrid has won the 2010 North American Car of the Year Award, and the entire 2013 Ford Fusion line-up, including the Fusion hybrid and plug-in variants, won the 2013 Green Car of the Year. As of December 2016, over 285,000 units of the Fusion hybrid family have been sold in the United States since 2009, including the plug-in hybrid variant. As of December 2016, sales of the Fusion Energi totaled 43,327 units delivered in its main market, the U.S.

Let car cool, then drove city streets and took car to an independent auto repair shop. They read the engine and it had error code P0304. Shop bore scoped into cylinder 4 and found engine coolant. Took to dealer to confirm, they did find that engine coolant was leaking into cylinder 4 and recommended replacing engine long block assembly for $9.25k.

The affected vehicles may not adequately protect against direct and indirect contact of high voltage sources during normal operation. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 305, "Electric-Powered Vehicles: Electrolyte spillage and electrical shock protection."
- Consequence: Potential contact with high voltage sources increases the risk of injury.

- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured July 27, 2013, to October 31, 2014, 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid vehicles manufactured February 24, 2014, to October 31, 2014, and 2015 Ford Fusion Energi vehicles manufactured July 14, 2014, to October 31, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the key may be able to be removed even while the transmission is not in Park. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."
- Consequence: If the key can be removed despite that the transmission is not in Park, a driver may think the vehicle is safety parked, when it is not, increasing the risk of a vehicle rollaway that could cause the vehicle to strike and injure the driver, other vehicle occupants, or bystanders.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles, free of charge. The recall began on December 15, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 14C11.

I leased a 2013 Titanium Fusion Energi mainly because of its fuel economy during a time when gas prices were high. Despite a few recalls and one significant engine failure, I was happy with the car's performance. The dealership always provided me with a loaner and never charged me for repairs. Unfortunately, my driving habits often took me beyond the 20-mile range, but over the course of three years, I averaged about 64 mpg overall - not too shabby regardless of the fuel cost. As I have some environmentally conscious children, the plug-in hybrid kept me in their good graces. The only downside for me was the small trunk that couldn't even hold a set of golf clubs. However, I got used to using the back seat, which was okay once I adjusted. The interior is a bit tight, but very comfortable. I'm not a fan of Ford Sync, but I don't use a lot of technology while driving anyway. Despite the few negatives, when my lease came up, I opted for another Fusion Energi - this time a nice metallic white 2016 Energi Luxury SE with most of the options. I would have bought out the 2013 car, but the residual value was too high. The new lease has a much better buyout number when the lease expires. With over $10,000 in rebates, the price was acceptable, so I'm thrilled to keep plugging in every time I pull into my driveway. As an Energi driver, I'm very pleased!

I never thought I would buy a Ford, having always driven Toyotas and Hondas. However, after reading Consumer Reports' increasing praise for Ford, I decided to give it a try. I purchased all the options, primarily because I hate plate covers where buttons should be, taunting with features that might have been. First and foremost, the fuel economy is incredible. I live exactly 20 miles away from work and am able to charge at both work and home. The Fusion makes it round trip on electric alone. Sometimes it gets up to 24 mile range, if in traffic. Sometimes it's closer to 17, like when the a/c is on. I last filled up about 4 weeks ago, driven about 400 miles since, and still have a full tank. On hybrid mode, without plugging in, the mpg is around 40-50. Still not too bad for a large sedan. The battery takes up a lot of room though. I can fit one suitcase in the trunk, one on the back seat and still have room for Captain Henry Gingersnaps Pomeranian carrier in the other half of the back seat. I went with the Fusion because it was by far more comfortable than the Camry or Prius hybrids. It's very sophisticated inside, with nice materials that fit together very well. They got a serious design master who thoughtfully crafted every part of this car inside and out. It just looks absolutely incredible, and before purchasing I often mistook the Fusion for an Aston Martin. Everything is where you would expect it, so operating all the functions is immediately familiar. I even found the computer system easy to use, and love that there are still real buttons for most used features of the air and radio. This was a huge deal for me, coming from a 2012 Honda with the worst, most antiquated system ever. A few of the Fusion's more advanced features take a bit more practice, but once you get the hang of them, they're great. The lane keep system may not work perfectly, but overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase.The car is great at reminding you to keep your hands on the wheel, which is a nice feature. However, if you let go, the car will quickly steer you into the next lane, which can be a bit alarming. It's especially helpful for those who have a light grip. Additionally, the car is very vocal about taking breaks, and it's usually right. When the driver alert starts flashing, it's a good time to take a break. I personally enjoy taking breaks anyway. The radar cruise control is really nice to use, but it can be finicky at times. For example, if a car pulls into your lane on the freeway, the Fusion will continue to accelerate until the other vehicle is directly in front of you. Sometimes, it even starts flashing the emergency brake red lights at you while it's still speeding up! However, most of the time it works decently well and is very convenient. Overall, I am incredibly happy with my new Ford Fusion.

I drive a Ford Fusion Energi as my commuter car. My daily drive consists of 16 miles each way in stop-and-go traffic on surface streets and freeways. I live in a hilly area, but going to work, I drive all-electric with brake regen down hills. It's a very quiet ride. Although I don't charge up at work due to the unavailability of a 110-volt outlet outside and a short extension cord, I charge it up nightly in my garage using a 110-volt charger. After a month of driving 865 miles, the dashboard says my average is 90.4 mpge (less if climate on). The Adaptive Cruise Control feature reduces my commuter stress, and the Sony stereo sounds great using Sirius or streaming music via Bluetooth phone using Spotify. I'm really enjoying my new tech car, and my commute costs are much less. Update: It corners really well, and it's fun to drive. It looks good, and I don't have an issue with the trunk size. It's never been an issue for me since I don't carry skis or haul stuff. I have another car for that. After 25000 miles, it's still going really well with no mechanical issues or failures. There were a couple of minor recalls that didn't affect me. I drove the car 2000 miles from Seattle, WA to L.A. in Southern California and back, and there were no issues. It's a solid car. The auto parallel parking feature is awesome, and I'm getting 70 mgpe lifetime average. It's a great commuter car, and most of my trips are in the suburbs, 10 miles each way, so most trips use no gasoline. The transition from electric-only to gasoline-hybrid is smooth and seamless. When I need acceleration, I punch it, and the 200 horsepower comes on quickly with lots of torque. I still charge it up every night in my garage (suburb) on 110 volts. I never bought the 220-volt charger because I didn't need it. I sometimes charge at public charging stations, but not very often. I never have range anxiety because it has a 14-gallon gas tank, which I use very little of. I have changed the oil twice in 25000 miles, and it has an intelligent oil monitor.The car has 25000 miles, but the gasoline engine has only 5000 miles, so maintenance costs are really low. Smooth ride! Great on gas! Beautiful interior and trim. (I get a lot of compliments). Trunk is small, but you can still fit a carry-on luggage, a large suitcase, and a backpack in the trunk for airport travel. I really hope Ford reconsiders and continues to manufacture this car. It's definitely a home run!

My car lost power on the freeway while I was driving in the car pool lane with no shoulder. Although I had plenty of gas, it did not switch over. The dealer updated the modules, but unfortunately, there seems to be a recurring problem with the modules on this car. I have had to update them numerous times for everything from the windows not working properly to not switching over to gas power and time of use charging option. Unfortunately, I am no longer under warranty due to the mileage and am being charged to update modules that seem to malfunction randomly. It's frustrating to think that this car could end up costing me a small fortune just in updates. I hope the dealer can find a more permanent solution to this issue.

I waited to purchase the 2017 model to take advantage of the latest technology, but unfortunately, I have been disappointed with the navigation system. Despite paying $700 for it, the system has been unable to locate major interstate exits, such as those on Highway 5 that runs from Canada to Mexico. Despite contacting Ford, they have refused to provide any assistance. In comparison, free alternatives such as Waze and Android Auto have proven to be more reliable and efficient. The navigation system has also been unable to recognize voice commands and has lost important downloads and contacts. It has been frustrating to use, and I have been unable to uninstall it. I would not recommend purchasing this system, even if it is offered at a lower price. Additionally, it has been interfering with my use of Android Auto, which has been a source of constant frustration.

Although some people seem to love the Ford Fusion, I have had a very different experience with it. In my opinion, the car is too heavy and lacks sufficient storage space. Additionally, the cup holders are poorly placed and the sound system and heating/cooling controls are not user-friendly. The electric charge on my Ford Fusion has decreased significantly, making it not worth charging at all. Furthermore, the car is expensive to repair and often requires multiple visits to the mechanic. Unfortunately, I have had a number of negative experiences with this vehicle. However, I understand that everyone has different preferences when it comes to cars and I respect those who enjoy driving a Ford Fusion.

Although this car may have its drawbacks, it is not suitable for a family of three due to its limited trunk space. However, it still provides a decent fuel economy of 32 to 35 mpg, and has some advanced safety features. While there may be some occasional struggles between the electric motor and gas engine, the car still performs well overall. We are currently exploring other options that may better suit our needs, but we appreciate the car's strengths and capabilities. Thank you for your understanding.

I've owned this car for a year and a half now. I purchased it used and it was in good condition. While there are a few things that have been bothering me enough to consider trading it in, I wanted to share my thoughts in this review. Firstly, the trunk space is quite limited due to the hybrid battery taking up most of the space. Secondly, the buttons for the gas and electric ports are in an awkward spot and are quite sensitive, which can be frustrating. Thirdly, the electric plug-in feature doesn't perform well in the winter and the car struggles in the snow due to its low ground clearance. However, the car has good acceleration and the leather seats are comfortable with decent leg room. It's important to note that the car doesn't come with a tire changing kit, which could be problematic for those living in rural areas. Overall, I would recommend this car for city commuting in the summer, as it has excellent fuel mileage. However, it may not be suitable for those who require more trunk space or live in areas with harsh winters.
