In hybrid operation (charge-sustaining mode), the Energi has a combined fuel economy of 38 mpg‑US (6.2 L/100 km; 46 mpg‑imp).
The Fusion Hybrid has won the 2010 North American Car of the Year Award, and the entire 2013 Ford Fusion line-up, including the Fusion hybrid and plug-in variants, won the 2013 Green Car of the Year. As of December 2016, over 285,000 units of the Fusion hybrid family have been sold in the United States since 2009, including the plug-in hybrid variant. As of December 2016, sales of the Fusion Energi totaled 43,327 units delivered in its main market, the U.S.

Let car cool, then drove city streets and took car to an independent auto repair shop. They read the engine and it had error code P0304. Shop bore scoped into cylinder 4 and found engine coolant. Took to dealer to confirm, they did find that engine coolant was leaking into cylinder 4 and recommended replacing engine long block assembly for $9.25k.

- Consequence: Potential contact with high voltage sources increases the risk of injury.

- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured July 27, 2013, to October 31, 2014, 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid vehicles manufactured February 24, 2014, to October 31, 2014, and 2015 Ford Fusion Energi vehicles manufactured July 14, 2014, to October 31, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the key may be able to be removed even while the transmission is not in Park. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."
- Consequence: If the key can be removed despite that the transmission is not in Park, a driver may think the vehicle is safety parked, when it is not, increasing the risk of a vehicle rollaway that could cause the vehicle to strike and injure the driver, other vehicle occupants, or bystanders.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles, free of charge. The recall began on December 15, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 14C11.

I drive a Ford Fusion Energi as my commuter car. My daily drive consists of 16 miles each way in stop-and-go traffic on surface streets and freeways. I live in a hilly area, but going to work, I drive all-electric with brake regen down hills. It's a very quiet ride. Although I don't charge up at work due to the unavailability of a 110-volt outlet outside and a short extension cord, I charge it up nightly in my garage using a 110-volt charger. After a month of driving 865 miles, the dashboard says my average is 90.4 mpge (less if climate on). The Adaptive Cruise Control feature reduces my commuter stress, and the Sony stereo sounds great using Sirius or streaming music via Bluetooth phone using Spotify. I'm really enjoying my new tech car, and my commute costs are much less. Update: It corners really well, and it's fun to drive. It looks good, and I don't have an issue with the trunk size. It's never been an issue for me since I don't carry skis or haul stuff. I have another car for that. After 25000 miles, it's still going really well with no mechanical issues or failures. There were a couple of minor recalls that didn't affect me. I drove the car 2000 miles from Seattle, WA to L.A. in Southern California and back, and there were no issues. It's a solid car. The auto parallel parking feature is awesome, and I'm getting 70 mgpe lifetime average. It's a great commuter car, and most of my trips are in the suburbs, 10 miles each way, so most trips use no gasoline. The transition from electric-only to gasoline-hybrid is smooth and seamless. When I need acceleration, I punch it, and the 200 horsepower comes on quickly with lots of torque. I still charge it up every night in my garage (suburb) on 110 volts. I never bought the 220-volt charger because I didn't need it. I sometimes charge at public charging stations, but not very often. I never have range anxiety because it has a 14-gallon gas tank, which I use very little of. I have changed the oil twice in 25000 miles, and it has an intelligent oil monitor.The car has 25000 miles, but the gasoline engine has only 5000 miles, so maintenance costs are really low. Congratulations on your recent purchase of this vehicle! I completely agree with you that the Edmunds review is spot on. I can understand how the price difference between the Energi and regular Fusion Hybrid may have given you pause, but I'm glad to hear that you went forward with the Energi version and that it hasn't disappointed you so far. It's great that it appears as a normal sedan and that it has all-electric weekend performance. I can imagine that your commute in DC Metro is usually a long one, which will inevitably tap the battery after anywhere between 16-20 miles. While the economics of gas/electricity vs. price point of this car may not pay for itself against the Fusion Hybrid, it's definitely a convenience to not have your weekend in-town trips result in a fillup on Monday morning for work. Hello! I can understand why folks who purchased this car new might be upset about the depreciation they saw, but let me tell you about my experience with my 2016 Ford Fusion Energi Titanium. I bought it from the original owner in August 2019 with only 18k miles and have been using it for my 165 mile roundtrip commute 2-3 times per week. At the end of 2020, the car now has 55k miles and is still averaging 51.4 mpg lifetime! I don't plug in at work and it does 38-43 mpg on my commute. I can easily go more than 600 miles between fill ups with its 14 gallon tank. The ride is extremely comfortable and quiet, and the handling is precise. The adaptive cruise control is intuitive and the MyFord Touch interface is functional. I have had no issues with interior build quality and everything works perfectly. It drives like a dream and has every single feature I could ask for, including heated and cooled front seats and a self-parking feature. The little subtle interior lighting touches make it feel like I'm driving a cross between a swanky lounge and a spaceship at night. However, it's important to note that outside temperature has a significant impact on all electric range and mileage. It loves hot weather and can go 25+ miles on a hot, calm day, but hates cold weather and can be done with the big battery in 10 miles if I run the heater. Something important to understand is that the miles remaining estimate for the battery is way more conservative than the estimate for your fuel. It is not uncommon for me to drive 15+ miles on the battery on a cold morning when the advertised range was 10 when I started. It's an estimate. Overall, I think this is a fantastic car for the price anyone will be asked to pay today. I hope this helps original owners feel better about their purchase!Depreciation may not be ideal and sunk costs are indeed sunk, but don't worry! You have options. You can either drive it, sell it, or even roll it off a cliff if that's what you're into. Personally, I think you should keep driving it because it's a great car! And let's not forget the time it saved your life. Remember that 165 mile commute? You fell asleep at the wheel on California Highway 46, but thankfully the car's automatic lane assist and centerline rumble strip woke you up just in time to avoid a head-on collision with a tractor trailer. Thank you, Ford engineers! By the way, here's a pro tip: get a 220V charging cord. Your next car after this one will probably be all electric anyway.

Car has been maintenance free. It has great gas mileage and I have found that the plug in time is average to poor. I have a bit of a lead foot, but I still manage to get 50 mpg. With 87000 miles on the clock and over 10000 of those on battery power, I have found that driving it like a little old man, which I do, rewards me with 60+ mpg. I give it two thumbs up!

Over the past two years, I have only visited a gas station six times and used 36 gallons of gas, with an average MPG of 168 for my short trips. Charging my car overnight using a 120 Volt outlet costs me only 7.1 cents per KW. I have had to visit the Ford dealer service department four times, once for a tire fix, twice for service, and once for a yearly state inspection. Although I have a recall on the car's modem and a quarter of the light ring around the charging plug has burned out, both issues are covered under warranty. To date, my total cost of ownership has been under $300.00, and I have driven just over 7000 miles. While I wish the car had more trunk space and a spare tire, I cannot say anything bad about my Ford PHEV. It is both classy and comfortable, transporting us to and from any place we choose to go. I hope that Ford will offer a larger battery and more space to haul in a future model, but overall, I am very satisfied with my 2016 Ford Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid. It gets over 88 MPG, and I have only put 125 miles on the odometer since I bought it on May 23rd, 2015. Although I miss the Ice Blue color of my previous car, the White color I chose is still a great option. I have done the math and found that charging the battery on 120-volt house current is cheaper than using NRG EVGO or Blink 220-volt charging stations. While the truck space is limited, and there is no spare tire, I got the car at a reduced price that I can live with. Thank you, Ford, for providing such a great car, even though you are discontinuing the model in 2020.I really enjoy driving my Ford Fusion Energi, despite the two recalls it had, the last one being to fix a steering wheel bolt. The car has great mileage, over 180 MPG, which is fantastic. However, I am considering trading it in before its value drops, and unfortunately, there are no replacement deals for the next PHEV that Ford might offer. I am currently looking at the Chrysler Pacifica Limited PHEV, which has a larger battery and more space for passengers and cargo. If you're in the market for a hybrid gas/electric vehicle, I highly recommend the Chrysler Pacifica Limited Hybrid. It offers great mileage and interior space, making it a smart choice. The Pacifica Hybrid has a range of 566 miles, which is impressive.

My car lost power on the freeway while I was driving in the car pool lane with no shoulder. Although I had plenty of gas, it did not switch over. The dealer updated the modules, but unfortunately, there seems to be a recurring problem with the modules on this car. I have had to update them numerous times for everything from the windows not working properly to not switching over to gas power and time of use charging option. Unfortunately, I am no longer under warranty due to the mileage and am being charged to update modules that seem to malfunction randomly. It's frustrating to think that this car could end up costing me a small fortune just in updates. I hope the dealer can find a more permanent solution to this issue.

Over the past two years, I have only visited a gas station six times and used 36 gallons of gas, with an average MPG of 168 for my short trips. Charging my car overnight using a 120 Volt outlet costs me only 7.1 cents per KW. I have had to visit the Ford dealer service department four times, once for a tire fix, twice for service, and once for a yearly state inspection. Although I have a recall on the car's modem and a quarter of the light ring around the charging plug has burned out, both issues are covered under warranty. To date, my total cost of ownership has been under $300.00, and I have driven just over 7000 miles. While I wish the car had more trunk space and a spare tire, I cannot say anything bad about my Ford PHEV. It is both classy and comfortable, transporting us to and from any place we choose to go. I hope that Ford will offer a larger battery and more space to haul in a future model, but overall, I am very satisfied with my 2016 Ford Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid. It gets over 88 MPG, and I have only put 125 miles on the odometer since I bought it on May 23rd, 2015. Although I miss the Ice Blue color of my previous car, the White color I chose is still a great option. I have done the math and found that charging the battery on 120-volt house current is cheaper than using NRG EVGO or Blink 220-volt charging stations. While the truck space is limited, and there is no spare tire, I got the car at a reduced price that I can live with.
