The medium-duty version of the Ford F-Series is a range of commercial trucks manufactured by Ford Motor Company since 1948. Derived from the smaller F-Series pickup trucks, the medium-duty range is currently in its eighth generation. Initially slotted between the F-Series pickup trucks and the "Big Job" conventionals, later generations were slotted below the L-Series "Louisville" trucks; the last two generations are the largest vehicles produced by Ford since its exit from the heavy-truck segment.

The medium-duty F-Series has been used for an extensive number of applications, offered as a straight (rigid) truck and a truck-tractor (for semitrailers) in multiple cab configurations. Prior to the production of the Ford C-Series, the model line was also offered in a cab-over engine (COE) configuration; a cowled-chassis variant (the Ford B-series) was used for bus production.

For the 2000 model year, the medium-duty F-Series has been branded as part of the Ford Super Duty range, consisting of the Class 6–7 Ford F-650 and F-750; Class 8 versions of the F-750 have been produced since 2011. The current generation of the medium-duty F-Series is manufactured by Ford in its Ohio Assembly facility (Avon Lake, Ohio), replacing a joint venture with Navistar International named Blue Diamond Truck Company LLC located in General Escobedo, Mexico.

EGR Cooler Problems: The EGR cooler can become restricted due to carbon deposits, leading to clogging and reduced performance. Ford updated the EGR system to address this issue, but carbon deposits can still build up in the EGR cooler, causing problems.

Radiator and Oil Leaks: Early 6.7 models suffered from radiator and oil leaks, primarily affecting the radiator, turbo coolant seal, turbo coolant inlet, and water pump. These leaks can be addressed by updating to an aftermarket radiator or monitoring the vehicle for leaks.

Injection Pump Failure: This issue affected very early model year engines, with exhaust valves potentially cracking and falling off into the cylinder, damaging the glow plug. This issue should not affect post-March 15 build-dates.

Inoperative Cruise Control and/or Immediate Transmission Downshifting: Some 2016-2019 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine and an air brake system may exhibit inoperative cruise control and/or immediate transmission downshifting when releasing the accelerator pedal. This may be caused by an in-range failure of the brake pedal pressure transducer that does not set a diagnostic trouble code (DTC).

Summary: I BOUGHT THIS BRAND NEW TOW TRUCK IN JULY 2015, EQUIPPED WITH AN ENGINE BRAKE. AFTER USING IT ON MOUNTAINS WITH HIGH % DOWNGRADES, REALIZED THE ENGINE BRAKE WAS NOT WORKING. I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING FOR MONTHS, AND THE TOW TRUCK COMPANY HAS BEEN TRYING TO SELL ME THE SISTER TRUCK WITH THAT ENGINE BRAKE NOT WORKING ALSO. NOW, I AM TOLD THAT FORD FORGOT TO HOOK UP THE ENGINE BRAKE, AND THE SISTER TRUCK HAS BEEN SOLD TO AN UNKNOWING TOW TRUCK COMPANY. WITHOUT AN ENGINE BRAKE HOOKED UP THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION, THE TRUCK WILL LOSE ITS BRAKES BY GETTING HOT, CATCHING FIRE, AND HAVING A TOTAL FAIL GOING DOWN A STEEP MOUNTAIN, ENDANGERING NOT ONLY THE DRIVER, BUT INNOCENT PASSENGERS THAT OWN THE VEHICLE WE ARE TOWING. THESE TRUCKS CARRY 5 PASSENGERS AND A DRIVER, AND IS A FLATBED TOW TRUCK THAT IS EQUIPPED TO CARRY 12,000 POUNDS ON THE FLATBED. SOMEBODY IS GOING TO DIE! WE THOUGHT WE HAD THE ONLY ONE LIKE THIS, BUT JUST FOUND OUT THERE IS THE SISTER TRUCK THAT WAS SOLD LAST WEEK. WOW. WE HAVE HAD OUT NEW TRUCK IN THE ENGINE FACILITY AND THE TRANSMISSION ALLISON FACILITY UPON THE ADVICE OF THE FORD DEALER. NOBODY KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT. Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015 F-650 and F-750 trucks, equipped with certain Spicer D-Series and E-Series steer axles. The castellated nut on the steer axles may not be properly torqued, allowing the tie rod to loosen.
Consequence: If the tie rod loosens, it may disconnect from the steering knuckle, causing a loss of steering control at lower speeds and increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the torque of the castellated nut and tie rod, tightening it as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 20, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17S30.

Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 F-650 and F-750 trucks manufactured January 28, 2015, to November 30, 2015. The clip that connects the hand operated parking brake actuator cable to the intermediate parking brake cable may fail.
Consequence: If the parking brake cable connector clip fails, the vehicle may unexpectedly roll, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the parking brake cable connector clip, free of charge. The recall began on May 19, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16S15.

Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2011-2013 and 2015 Ford F-650, and F-750 trucks manufactured February 14, 2011, to April 28, 2015, and equipped with a 70% fixed bench passenger seat. The affected vehicles have passenger seat belt anchorage floor attachments that are not installed in the correct location. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."
Consequence: Seat belt anchors that are installed in an incorrect location may increase the risk of occupant injury in the event of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will correct the seat belt anchorage locations, free of charge. The recall began on November 12, 2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15C09.

Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2015 Ford F-650 SD trucks manufactured May 12, 2014, to July 22, 2014 and Ford F-750 SD trucks manufactured May 12, 2014, to August 4, 2014. The Cummins ISB or ISL engines in these vehicles may have been equipped with Fleetguard UFF-XT fuel filters, part number FF63009, whose filter shell may separate from the fuel filter nut plate causing the engine to stall without warning.
Consequence: If the engine stalls unexpectedly there is an increased risk of a crash.
Remedy: Cummins will notify the owners of the affected Ford vehicles, and Cummins service centers will replace the fuel filter with a non-defective one, free of charge. The recall began in September 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 14V01. Owners may also contact Cummins customer service at 1-800-223-4583.
