1993 Ford F-250 problems
The Ford Super Duty (also known as the Ford F-Series Super Duty) is a series of heavy-duty pickup trucks produced by the Ford Motor Company since the 1999 model year. Slotted above the consumer-oriented Ford F-150, the Super Duty trucks are an expansion of the Ford F-Series range, from F-250 to the F-600. The F-250 through F-450 are offered as pickup trucks, while the F-350 through F-600 are offered as chassis cabs.
Rather than adapting the lighter-duty F-150 truck for heavier use, Super Duty trucks have been designed as a dedicated variant of the Ford F-Series. The heavier-duty chassis components allow for heavier payloads and towing capabilities. With a GVWR over 8,500 lb (3,900 kg), Super Duty pickups are Class 2 and 3 trucks, while chassis-cab trucks are offered in Classes 3, 4, 5, and 6. The model line also offers Ford Power Stroke V8 diesel engines as an option.
Ford also offers a medium-duty version of the F-Series (F-650 and F-750), which is sometimes branded as the Super Duty, but is another chassis variant. The Super Duty pickup truck also served as the basis for the Ford Excursion full-sized SUV.
The Super Duty trucks and chassis-cabs are assembled at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky, and at Ohio Assembly in Avon Lake, Ohio. Prior to 2016, medium-duty trucks were assembled in Mexico under the Blue Diamond Truck joint venture with Navistar International.

Common 1993 Ford F-250 problems
The 1993 Ford F-250 has not been reported to have significant issues or complaints from owners. However, as a car expert, I can provide general information about common problems that might affect 1993 Ford F-250 trucks based on the knowledge of the truck's design, age, and typical issues found in similar vehicles of the same era.
- EGR System Issues: Ford's EGR systems have been known to cause problems, especially with the EGR vacuum regulator, which can be difficult to diagnose. The 5.8L engine in the 1993 F-250 has a relatively simple EGR design, but it's still worth considering as a potential issue.
- Engine Oil Pan Gasket Leaks: Over time, the engine oil pan gasket can wear out and cause leaks. This is a common issue in many vehicles, including the 1993 Ford F-250.
- Exhaust Manifold Cracks: Exhaust manifolds can crack and cause leaks, which can lead to reduced performance and fuel efficiency. This is a common issue in many vehicles, including the 1993 Ford F-250.
- Starter Solenoid Failure: The starter solenoid can fail, causing issues with starting the vehicle. This is a relatively minor issue that can be resolved with a replacement part.
- Fuel Pump Check Valve and Fuel Pressure Regulator Problems: These components can fail, leading to issues with fuel pressure and potentially causing the engine to run poorly or not start at all.
- Parking Brake Issues: The parking brake can wear out or fail, leading to safety concerns. Regular maintenance and inspection of the parking brake system can help prevent this issue.
- Drive Belt Detachment: The drive belt can detach, causing issues with the vehicle's accessories, such as the alternator or power steering pump. Regular inspection and maintenance of the drive belt system can help prevent this issue.
- Rust and Corrosion: As a 26-year-old truck, the 1993 Ford F-250 may have issues with rust and corrosion, particularly in the body, chassis, suspension, and brake components. Regular inspection and maintenance can help prevent or mitigate these issues.
It is essential to have a pre-purchase inspection done before buying a used vehicle, especially one as old as the 1993 Ford F-250. This will help ensure that you are aware of any potential issues and can make an informed decision about the vehicle's condition and value.

- Components: STRUCTURE:BODY:BUMPERS
- Summary: THE U-CLIP STYLE NUTS THAT RETAIN THE FRONT BUMPERS TO THE FRONT BUMPER INNER ARMS CAN FRACTURE.
- Consequence: IF ONE OF THE U-CLIP NUTS FRACTURES, THE BUMPER WILL LOOSEN AND RATTLE CAUSING FRACTURE OF THE REMAINING U-CLIP NUTS, RESULTING IN SEPARATION OF THE BUMPER FROM THE VEHICLE. IF THE BUMPER WERE TO DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE IT IS BEING DRIVEN, A VEHICLE COLLISION COULD RESULT.
- Remedy: INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT OF THE FOUR U-CLIP NUTS AND THE ASSOCIATED BOLTS.
- Manufacturer: FORD MOTOR COMPANY
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY
- Summary: A MALFUNCTIONING CHECK VALVE WITHIN THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY CAUSES A PORTION OF THE UNUSED FUEL FROM ONE TANK TO BE RETURNED TO THE SECOND TANK. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE CAPACITY OF THE SECOND TANK CAN BE EXCEEDED, CAUSING FUEL SPILLAGE.
- Consequence: SPILLED FUEL CAN RESULT IN A FIRE WHEN EXPOSED TO ASOURCE OF IGNITION.
- Remedy: REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR AND INSTALLATION OF REDUNDANT CHECK VALVES.

Positive 1993 Ford F-250 car reviews

I really enjoy the power and braking of this vehicle. After adding the Y headers, the engine became even better and more fuel efficient. I get 12 mpg on the freeway and 9 mpg in town. This is my daily driver, but I also use it for towing occasionally (10 mpg while towing) and off-roading on the weekends. The captain's chairs are comfortable, but the armrests are a bit too high for me since I'm a tall guy. I opted for the manual shifted transfer case to avoid any issues with the solenoid failing in the mud (based on my experience working at a dealership). I also installed manual locking 4x4 hubs. I've taken this truck airborne off-roading before and broke the steering box, but I was still able to drive it home and then to work to put in a new one. I've never had any issues with the A/C system, and it still blows cold, although it's not so great in southern California traffic.
-
It's great to hear that you're enjoying your truck! From personal experience, I know that it's dependable and has plenty of power. It also looks great both inside and out. I do have a question though, do you happen to know what the mpg was for this truck when it was new? I'm only getting 6 miles per gallon with my 460 cubic inch engine and 4 speed auto trans. Other than that, I'm very happy with my truck despite the gas mileage.
-
I purchased my 1993 F250 from the father of a good friend of mine, whom I have known since the first grade. Despite the outdated Ford paint job, the truck is in excellent condition and has been well-maintained. Over the past 7-8 years, I have driven it for 10k miles and it has never failed to start, even in cold weather. The truck has impressive fuel economy and is built to handle heavy-duty work. While the ride may be rough, it is exactly what you would expect from a classic Ford truck. I have even found that it can haul more than my dad's 06 Dodge Cummins and my in-laws' 86 Chevy C20. Recently, I pulled up to a diesel pump and caught the attention of a tow truck driver who was pumping diesel with a 7.3 power stroke. He was impressed with my largely factory truck, which only has a bigger turbo and airbags on the back. If a tow truck driver loves these trucks, it speaks volumes about their quality and reliability.

Except for the underspung front end, which is corrected on mine, this truck has been great! It starts in the dead of cold, and gets between 16 and 19 around town. The body has held up well, for a 10 year old vehicle. The typical spots, over the wheel well and the extended cab are just coming through now. The interior still looks like the day I bought it. I'm definitely going to buy another one. It's the best vehicle I've ever had!

You've had this truck for 8 years and counting and it's been great! Your truck has the 7.3L turbo diesel with 190 hp@3000rpm and it's been a great companion.

I purchased this vehicle used with 58k miles on it. It has been reliable so far, but unfortunately, it does not get great gas mileage, only 7-10mpg when empty. Additionally, the power I was expecting from the 460 engine was not quite there. However, I have made some modifications such as adding a K&N filter and a 3

The truck is great! Although the mileage is not the best, it more than makes up for it with its impressive power and torque.
