Ford service did open a claim to look into the incident.

- Summary: On [XXX], I got my first “check engine” light. I immediately went to get my car scanned and it came up as a Cylinder 4 misfire. I bought the replacement parts and had them replaced the same day. About a week later, the light came on again. I went to get it scanned and got the same error, Cylinder 4 misfire. At this point, I replaced all of the spark plugs and coils. This seemed to work for about 2 weeks when the check engine light came on again. Soon after, I got an “Engine Fault – Service Now” warning. I looked under the hood and saw that my coolant was nearly gone. After filling the tank with coolant, the lights went away. This past week, on [XXX], I got the “High Engine Temperature – Stop Safely” warning. This is when I took my car into Imlay City Ford Dealership. Now I am being told that I have coolant leaking into the cylinders and that I need to replace the engine. After further investigation, there was a recall for this exact issue back in June of 2022, but I never received any type of notice. I contacted the dealership that I purchased the car from, and they were able to tell me that this was under the Customer Satisfaction Program 21N12, which provides a free one-time repair if your vehicle exhibits coolant leakage into the cylinder bores causing engine damage. The problem is, I was not contact about this and I had no idea there was a recall notice until it was too late. The Customer Satisfaction Program only covers up to 7 years, or 84,000 miles in which I am now past. - Consequence: A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.
- Remedy: Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. I absolutely love this SUV! It has exceeded my expectations with its impressive acceleration and sporty handling. The Escape is definitely the best value in its class, and I did a lot of comparison shopping to come to that conclusion. The latest technology and creature comforts make it even better. Even though I was hesitant to switch to an SUV, I don't miss the driving experience of my Acura at all when I'm in the Escape. Update: It's now 2021 and we still adore our Escape. We have had no issues with its flawless performance. I would definitely consider buying another Ford, maybe even an electric one next time!

Hi there! I'm a proud Honda owner. I used to have an '05 CR-V EX and recently sold my '09 Odyssey EX-L. I've also had the chance to rent a Toyota Rav4, a Mazda CX-5, and a Subaru Forester. While I was on the big island of Hawaii, I was really impressed with the Forester. It was so agile and had excellent visibility, not to mention impressive fuel economy. The only drawback was its thin sheet metal and some engine issues. However, the 2018 Forester I rented in Hawaii seemed to be void of these issues, but it was new with less than 2000 miles on it. As for my Odyssey, I decided to sell it because it was a bit of a pain to drive around town. The engine was tried and true, a 3.5V-6 with 244 hp, and driving it was like riding on a cloud. But after 10 years and 90k miles, it was time to part ways. When we went to Honda to check out the CR-V LX with its reliable 2.4 non-turbo engine, we were a bit disappointed. The 2019 CR-V felt big and clumsy, lacking in driver input. My old '05 CR-V was actually more engaging than the 2018 CR-V, and I think it has to do with the growth of the CR-V. We even tried the HR-V, but the interior quality was only fair. It seems like Honda is resting on its laurels a bit. However, when I rented a Mazda CX-5 for 4 days in Tucson, I was very impressed. It was a Grand Touring model, so the infotainment system was a bit of a pain to learn, but the power and safety features were greatly appreciated on my trip to Tombstone. Plus, the fuel economy was impressive at 32mpg with front-wheel drive. The Toyota RAV4 is similar to the Honda CR-V in that it does everything well but nothing outstanding. It has a tried and true reliable engine and great back storage, but the interior is a bit cave-like in black. Speaking of black, why are all the interiors black? They get hot, show dirt and dust, and are bland and apparently cheap to produce. I'm looking forward to testing the new RAV4, but I also had the chance to test a slightly used Ford Escape and was blown away. Who knew Ford could make such a great car? This Ford Escape had a 2.0L-4 engine with 240 hp, and it was amazing.Although it is an AWD, the Ford Escape is surprisingly agile with excellent ride and responsive handling. I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet the ride was, which was on par with the Mazda CX-5. This Titanium model came well-equipped, minus the sunroof. I don't understand the manufacturer's fascination with sunroofs. When opened, wind noise makes it impossible to hear, and with age, they often leak wind and water or worse, get stuck open. They are not cheap to make either. In cold climates, a sunroof is moot because 90% of the time they remain closed. And if you just want a window in the roof, you must deal with sun glare. This Escape had a beige leather interior, which is easy to keep clean, heated seats, no sunroof, superb handling, and an excellent ride. It's not soft and cushy, but it takes road imperfections very well. My only complaint is the lack of cubbies for small items. The Escape cup holders become a cell phone holder. If money was not an issue, I would have considered the Mazda CX-5. Although Mazda storage is less than the Escape's and has fewer Ford dealerships and service availability, Mazda, like Ford, has really stepped up its quality and products. I have yet to drive the new 2020 Ford Escape, which, like the Honda and Toyota, has grown in size to accommodate larger Americans. Subaru has to fix its thin sheet metal problem. I spoke with a fellow who dented the hood waxing his new Outback. The Ford Escape blew me away. It is fun to drive, and with three engines available, it can be made to suit most everyone. I'm glad I made the switch to Ford as I love driving this Escape.

I purchased this vehicle based on 30 mpg highway fuel expectancy. However, I am only getting 27 mpg despite driving 100 miles round trip each day to work. As a commuter, fuel efficiency is of utmost importance to me. It is disappointing to not meet the expected fuel rating, but I am confident that Ford will address this issue and improve their future models.

The Escape sounds like a fantastic vehicle, especially considering how well it handled during that long Monsoon storm in Myrtle Beach, SC. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable car. It's good to know that the only minor issue you experienced was with the phone syncing, but I'm glad to hear that you were able to unsync it and everything is working well now.

After driving various Fords since 1995 without any serious problems, I was disappointed to experience engine trouble with my 1.5 liter EcoBoost after only 12000 miles. However, I was pleased to find that the engine block was being replaced under warranty. Although the dealer will need to rebuild the engine around the new block, I am hopeful that this will work out well. Despite the disappointment, I must commend Ford for doing the right thing under the law and buying back my Escape for full price less depreciation until the engine blew itself up. The transmission had also been problematic after the reminder was replaced. Overall, I have had positive experiences with Ford and appreciate their commitment to customer satisfaction.

Our 2018 Escape 1.5 with 27000 miles needs a new engine. Ford has acknowledged that 40,000 other vehicles require the same repair. The estimated time for the engine replacement is 4 months. It took 2 engine replacements and 5 months to get the car back. Unfortunately, Ford stated that a buy back was no longer an option.

The 2018 AWD Ecoboost has had some issues, but they have all been resolved by the dealer. The gas tank straps were adjusted to fix the 'thud' sound when backing up, and the engine block was replaced when it cracked. Although there were some issues with the shields underneath the car, they were quickly fixed. The car now runs smoothly and I am enjoying its great size and features.

I recently purchased a 2018 Ford Escape 1.5L EcoBoost with only 6 miles on it. Unfortunately, I have experienced several issues with the car, including an oil leak and multiple check engine lights. Despite taking it in for regular maintenance, I have had to return to the service center over a dozen times. As a long-time Ford owner, I am disappointed with the performance of this particular model. I am currently facing a difficult situation as I am unable to sell or trade in the car without incurring significant losses. I hope that Ford will take responsibility for the issues that many customers have experienced with this engine. Thank you for your understanding.

I bought this car used 6 months ago. Although I had to return to the dealer 3 times before the issues were resolved, I can say that this car is light and easy to operate. It is also great on fuel. However, I have noticed some worrisome noises coming from the front end. In my opinion, the Escape ages fast and I would not recommend owning it for more than a year or two.
