2015 Ford C-max energi problems
The Ford C-Max (stylized as Ford C-MAX and previously called the Ford Focus C-Max) is a car produced by the Ford Motor Company from 2003 to 2019. It has a five-door compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) design. The Ford Grand C-Max has a longer wheelbase.
Ford introduced the C-Max in the United States as its first hybrid-only line of vehicles, which includes the C-Max Hybrid, released in September 2012, and the C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid, launched in October 2012. Although the C-Max was initially available only in Europe, the first generation was partially available in New Zealand.
First generation (2003)
The Ford Focus C-Max is preceded by the eponymous show car, which was designed by Daniel Paulin and unveiled at the 2002 Paris Motor Show.
C-Max Mk I was the first product to use the Ford C1 platform, also used by the Ford Focus Mk II and the compact MPV Premacy/Mazda5. Its internal code name is C214.
It seats five passengers and has a large amount of cargo space, which can be increased by folding the rear seats flat. Some models feature diagonally sliding outer rear seats. It also shares the control blade independent rear suspension from the Focus.

Common 2015 Ford C-max energi problems
The 2015 Ford C-MAX Energi has been associated with several common problems based on complaints from its owners. These issues primarily revolve around the vehicle's doors, windows, locks, and latches, as well as the infotainment system and fuel efficiency.
- Infotainment System: The Ford MyTouch infotainment system has been criticized for being difficult to operate, with numerous calls being received by the Lemon Law Center regarding battery and stalling issues, as well as glitches with the Ford MyTouch/sync system.
- Fuel Efficiency: The Ford C-MAX Energi has been questioned about its EPA gas mileage rating of 47 miles per gallon, with Consumer Reports unable to exceed 37 miles per gallon after 2,000 miles of testing. This discrepancy between the promised and actual fuel efficiency has been a point of contention among owners.
- Recall: Ford has issued a recall for C-MAX vehicles not equipped with panoramic roof panels due to a risk of head injury in the event of an accident, as testing has shown that occupants have a greater risk of injury with these vehicles.
- J.D. Power Ranking: The Ford C-MAX has ranked dead last in J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study, with consumers complaining of confusing and poorly functioning technology.
These common problems have led to frustration and dissatisfaction among many owners of the 2015 Ford C-MAX Energi, with some reporting that the vehicle has been a constant headache due to its reliability and cost of ownership issues.
Is the Ford C-Max Energi reliable?
The current Consumer reports Used Car Guide recommends the C-Max as “a hidden used car gem.” Avoid the 2013 model year, though. Transmissions on the Hybrid (not Energi) model were failure-prone before 2015. I own a 2014 C-Max Hybrid and a 2017 C-Max Energi, both for about six years now.

This is probably the best car I've ever owned.

I leased a 2015 C-Max and noticed that the interior trim fit and finish was not up to par, with the trim literally falling apart just one month after purchase. However, I am glad that I leased this car instead of buying it. On the positive side, the interior is roomy with a good ambience and the Sync system is decent and does its job well. Additionally, my 65-mile round trip has been netting me 55 Mpg, which is not too bad, although it should have been more for a PHEV. The car has a big battery that takes away from what should have been a generous cargo space, but it is still better than the Fusion Energi or Accord Hybrid. Unfortunately, the interior quality is questionable and there is no spare tire. This was my first domestic purchase and I will see how it holds up for 3 years. Despite the cons, I still love this car. The interior passenger volume is deceptively large, the engine is very peppy, and the massive windshields make for excellent visibility. The average mileage is around 50-55 Mpg with a total range of 650-700 miles between fill-ups. Kids love the ambient lights and the rain/speed sensing wipers are a nice touch. The gas-only mileage is lower than promised (35 actual vs 47 promised), but that may be due to my lead foot. Unfortunately, the scheduler for charging and AC does not work even after 3 dealership visits, but I blame the dealership Autonation Ford for this. Overall, the CMax Energi makes a very good commuter car. Ford, please update this car since competitors like Chevy Volt and Prius Prime make newer/updated and better products now.*** Last Update Overall Impressions **** I turned in my lease after 3 years of service and was pleasantly surprised with the CMax Energi.Never had a problem with the car for 45 K Miles that I drove in 3 years. Great mileage 55 + MPGE average. Good interior space, even my 400# lunch buddy had no problem getting in and out of the car. However, Ford dropped the car. I did not purchase another car from Ford and walked across to the Toyota dealership to pick up a Prius Prime Advance....

We set the mpg gauge after driving the car for about 8 weeks. Since then, we have driven it for 30 months and 18,000 miles. The car has an impressive fuel efficiency of 125 mpg, with 20% hybrid and 80% EV. The best part is that the EV plug-in is free, powered off solar panels on our roof. We got the solar panels for free, and after federal and state incentives, they were more than free! The panels produce more electricity than our house uses, and the extra power is used to fuel 80% of the car's energy, one of our lawn mowers, our snow blower, electric fireplace, and a couple of space heaters. This has helped us reduce our heating oil bills by 1/3. We absolutely love this car! However, we are also considering the 2018 Honda Clarity, which looks like it will get even better mileage (almost twice the battery capacity, thus almost twice the federal and state incentives). We paid $34,000 for the Cmax Energi (about $23,000 after incentives).

As someone who has mostly owned Hondas and Toyotas, I found myself getting bored and decided to switch things up by going the German route. However, after owning a couple of VWs and a BMW, I quickly grew tired of constantly having to fix them. As a busy parent, I found that I had very little time to maintain them myself. That's when my wife started driving a Lexus CT200H and I became interested in the reliable drivetrain that it offered. After some research, I decided to look into the Prius V for its spaciousness. Unfortunately, I had trouble finding a used one with the trim package I wanted. That's when I discovered the Ford C-Max. Although I had seen it before, I never really considered it until I found out that I could get an almost new one with low miles for a cheaper price than a used Prius V with 60k miles. After reading reviews and doing some research, I found the perfect car with all the extras I wanted and bought it sight unseen. When I finally saw it in person, my wife and I were blown away by how nice it looked and felt. We love this car! It drives so much better than any of the other Priuses we test drove and even makes my wife's 2012 Lexus feel outdated in comparison. I mainly drive on EV mode and the lifetime MPG numbers were 68mpg, which is now down to 63 mpg after a couple of road trips on hybrid mode.Already drove it 1000 miles in about 2 weeks. I'm super satisfied with my purchase and I feel great about it! We shall see how it does in the long term...I will update this review at a later date. Keep up the great work, Ford! Please continue to bring these awesome cars you have been making for Europe for years to the U.S.!

I have loved this car since the day I got it! The $7500 federal rebate and the carpool lane stickers more than paid for the plug-in upgrade from the hybrid. I have only had to make one repair, which was a new screen that cost about $300. I still get around 20 miles off the battery before the gas kicks in, making it the perfect car for running errands. I am actually ordering a Mache E tomorrow and passing this one on to my daughter!

I experienced problems with the electrical system early on. However, I am confident that the issue was primarily caused by the dealership. Despite the sales people and management appearing to care, the car had to be towed twice due to the technicians failing to make proper electrical connections. Shockingly, the second time they delivered the car to me without reassembling the hybrid battery compartment! Fortunately, FMC came to the rescue and made some commercial accommodation that has worked for me.

It seems like there might be some issues with the car you're describing. Specifically, you mentioned that there is no trunk space, the glove box cannot be locked, the colors in the dash are blending, and there is not enough storage space. Is there anything else you'd like to add or any other concerns you have?

If you're looking for a car that will last, I would recommend considering other options. While I have had some issues with this car, such as having to replace a headlight assembly and battery, I understand that these things can happen with any vehicle. Unfortunately, my extended warranty did not cover these repairs. Additionally, the car's value has not held up well over time, especially if you drive more than 15,000 miles per year. If you're looking for a reliable and valuable car, I would suggest considering a Toyota Prius. I also own one of these and have had a great experience with it. It's important to note that while I have had some issues with my Ford, I still appreciate its features and use it for my daily commute. Thank you for considering my experience with this car.

charge port cover is held in place with a spring and if it disconnect it affects the entire housing which can cost up to $500. What a surprise... it happens after the warranty! The charge error message "fault in charging!" I cannot believe the poor design that cost the owner hundreds! I have own cars since the 70s and this is the 1st time a signal light bulb fails within 2-years! I have a truck/2004 and I never had to replace any lights to this day. Cheap!!!
