2015 Dodge Challenger problems

The Dodge Challenger is the name of three different generations of automobiles produced by American automobile manufacturer Dodge. However, the first use of the Challenger name by Dodge was in 1959 for marketing a "value version" of the full-sized Coronet Silver Challenger.
From model years 1970 to 1974, the first generation Dodge Challenger pony car was built using the Chrysler E platform in hardtop and convertible body styles sharing major components with the Plymouth Barracuda.
The second generation, from model years 1978 to 1983, was a badge engineered Mitsubishi Galant Lambda / Sapporo, a coupe version of an economical compact car.
The third and current generation is a full-size muscle car that was introduced in early 2008 originally as a rival to the evolved fifth generation Ford Mustang and the fifth generation Chevrolet Camaro.
In November 2021, Stellantis announced that 2023 model year would be the final model year for both the LD Dodge Charger and LA Dodge Challenger, as the company will focus its future plans on electric vehicles rather than fossil fuel powered vehicles, due to tougher emissions standards required by the Environmental Protection Agency for the 2023 model year. Challenger production ended on December 22, 2023, and the Brampton, Ontario assembly plant will be re-tooled to assemble an electrified successor.

Common 2015 Dodge Challenger problems
The Dodge Challenger, a popular muscle car, has been known to have several common problems across different model years. Here are some of the most frequently reported issues based on the search results:
- Bad Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM): The 2008-2021 Dodge Challenger models, including the 2013 Challenger, have experienced problems with the TIPM, which controls all of the vehicle's electrical operations. A faulty TIPM can cause various electrical issues, such as airbags deploying unexpectedly, the starter crank failing, the horn going off randomly, and power windows activating randomly or not working at all.
- Harsh transmission shifting: The 2009-2016 Dodge Challenger models, particularly those with around 34,800 miles, have been known to experience harsh transmission shifting. This issue starts with a weird metallic noise when shifting and can develop into a noticeable thump coming from the transmission whenever gears are shifted.
- Crankshaft position sensor signal loss: The 2009-2010 Dodge Challenger models are known to have crankshaft position sensor signal loss, which can trigger the check engine light with error code P0339. This issue usually happens out of the blue and may require adding a wedge or shim to the crankshaft sensor or replacing the flex plate to resolve the problem completely.
- Leaky power steering pressure hose assembly: The 2010 Dodge Challenger had a safety recall due to a leaky power steering pressure hose assembly. This issue can cause steering fluid leaks, which can ignite a vehicle fire if the flammable fluid drips onto searing engine parts. Dodge will inspect and replace the faulty power steering pressure hose assembly for free if it's affected by any recalls.
- Electrical problems: The 2014 Dodge Challenger has faced widespread electrical problems, with many owners reporting constant ticking noises coming from the engine and issues with the alternator, A/C, and speedometer. These problems can be particularly pronounced when driving at highway speeds and may persist even after repairs.
- Ignition switch issues: The 2010 Challenger has experienced problems with the ignition switch, where the ignition key cannot be removed from the ignition, leading to the battery discharging. Other reported electrical problems include issues with the alternator/generator/regulator and the rear compartment/trunk.
These common problems highlight the importance of staying informed about potential issues with the specific model year of a Dodge Challenger before making a purchase. Regular maintenance and inspections can also help identify and address these problems early on, ensuring the safety and reliability of the vehicle.

This issue tells the driver that a lamp is out, when in reality it is not. It is very frustrating, as it may occur as often as every five minutes. I have talked to three independent repair shops, as well as three Dodge dealerships. I received basically the same response from all three dealerships, "We have no idea what may be causing this, but leave it with us for a day, and we will investigate. At $182 per labor hour. I recently traded in my '13 Charger RT for the tri coat red 8 speed Challenger SRT 392 with black racing stripes. I have been using it as a daily commuter and it is an absolute joy to drive. The 6.4L and 8 speed transmission are simply awesome, and the sound and acceleration are truly nostalgic. Everything about this car is designed to cater to the driver. While MPG is not the main reason for getting such a car, I am still averaging nearly 19 in just 2 days of mixed city/highway driving, which is almost what I got with the Charger's 5.7L engine, and that's including having ample fun too. I understand that this car may not be for everyone, but it definitely beats the snot out of overpriced European imports.

UPDATE on 4.12.2016: Hi there! I wanted to share an update on my car. I've been driving this car as my daily driver since 7.23.2015, so for about 9 months now. I bought it brand new back then and I absolutely loved it. As it's a V6, I've been exploring my options on upgrading to a V8 and have been checking out the newer 5.0 Mustang GT's. Recently, I took my car to a Ford dealership for a quick appraisal and was a bit disappointed with the rapid depreciation of the car. Lesson learned, I won't be buying any more sports cars in generic colors like black anymore. I'll be looking into something that holds its value longer such as a Roush/Boss, etc. That being said, I have to admit that the Challenger is hands down the coolest of the bunch when it comes to V6's, so I don't regret my purchase at all. The power has been great, especially with the K&N cold air intake I installed within a month after buying it. That improved the motor sound considerably and has tamed the fuel consumption a good bit as well. Overall fuel consumption is good for a 4,000 lb. car, but I can already tell it's deteriorated slightly in the short amount of time I've owned her. I would say it may already be time for a fuel system flush, but seems too early to be necessary. I don't know if that's a Dodge thing or what, but our Fusion with 63,000 miles on it seems to be holding its average MPG quite well in comparison. Lastly, I wanted to mention that I recently had some issues with the wheel base(s) squeaking whenever I go over minor bumps like in a poorly constructed parking lot. When I took it into the dealership to have them investigate it they told me the most ridiculous statement I'd ever heard - Hi Sherlock, thank you for your input. I have noticed that my car squeaks over small bumps, which is quite bothersome considering I have only had it for 9 months. Additionally, I have been experiencing some issues with the transmission. Although I love the ZF8HP 8-speed automatic from Germany, I have been having some trouble with it when driving in sport mode. The transmission starts hunting for gears when it realizes I am not driving aggressively, which causes the car to jolt back and forth quite violently. I have spoken to the Dodge dealer about this, but they have told me it is normal. However, I find it hard to believe that all cars behave this way in sport mode. Have you experienced anything similar with your car? I will be trading in my car for a new one in the next year, but in the meantime, I will use the paddle shifters when driving in sport mode. Thanks again for your help!

The car is exactly what it was meant to be - a retro-style muscle car with modern amenities. While it may not win any gas mileage contests against a hybrid, it will definitely turn heads as it speeds down the street. It's loud, a little obnoxious, and a whole lot of fun!

This car is a real powerhouse! It's got a mean and loud engine that just begs to go fast, but it can still handle city driving with ease. The downshifting is accompanied by satisfying snaps and pops, and the exhaust produces beautiful music when you really put your foot down. Plus, the trunk has plenty of cargo space, and the back seats fold down for larger items like skis. And let's not forget how it handles - like it's on rails!

I traded a 7000 mile 2010 SRT8 for the R/T Scat Pack and I am absolutely thrilled with my decision. The car is not only comfortable and good-looking, but also incredibly powerful and sounds amazing. I have owned this car for over three years now and have had zero issues with it.

We had a very concerning experience with our car that we purchased brand new from the dealership in Brandon, Florida. Less than a month later, we had our first close call with an accident when the vehicle suddenly lost all acceleration as we were pulling into oncoming traffic from a stop sign. The gear shift 'D' flashed red and the digital readout on the dashboard instructed us to 'Place vehicle in Park and shift to desired gear'. This meant that no matter where we were, whether in the middle of an intersection or while merging into oncoming traffic, we had to come to a complete stop and put the vehicle in 'Park' and then shift back into 'Drive'. Unfortunately, this has happened a total of 5 times, with two of those incidents being captured on video by my son who was driving the car. Despite our efforts, Dodge still has no idea what is causing the problem nor do they have any clue how to fix it. We have filed a Lemon Law suit and notified the NTSB as well as the Federal Trade Commission. We strongly advise against putting yourself, family members or innocent drivers at risk. This car needs to be considered for a Class Action Lawsuit against Dodge.

I've been experiencing issues with the 6-speed manual transmission, specifically with shifting into second gear. I took my car to Anderson Dodge in Rockford, Illinois and explained the problem. Unfortunately, they were unable to replicate the issue after having three people test drive the car and declined to fix it. Despite the car only having 8000 miles, the problem persists and is quite noticeable. I'm not sure what to do next, but I'm hoping to find a solution soon. On a positive note, the car is running well otherwise. An update on the situation: the car now has 60000 miles and the issue with the transmission has worsened. Shifting into second gear is becoming increasingly difficult and poses a safety risk. I've had to learn to compensate for the faulty gear, but it's not a long-term solution.

I special ordered this unit, but unfortunately it came with cloth seats and almost no options. Despite paying top dollar, I am very disappointed with my purchase. While it does have 700 HP, the car is big, hard to handle, and not very attractive. The finishes and paint are lacking, and it burns gas like there's a hole in the tank. Even compared to a Hummer, this car is a gas guzzler. I've only been able to reach 155 MPH, and it would take a lot of courage to push it to 200. Personally, I prefer my Chevy SS, which can run circles around this beast and is much more fun to drive. The dealer in Larchmont, NY was nice until I signed the papers, then they became unhelpful. On the other hand, my Chevy dealer in Waterbury, CT, Vin, is the best and always treats me right. While Dodge has its strengths, I think I'll stick with Chevy.
