2014 Chevrolet Spark problems
The Chevrolet Spark (Korean: 쉐보레 스파크) is a city car manufactured by General Motors's subsidiary GM Korea from 1998 to 2022. The vehicle was developed by Daewoo and introduced in 1998 as the Daewoo Matiz (Korean: 대우 마티즈). In 2002, General Motors purchased Daewoo Motors, which was marketing the vehicle with several GM marques and nameplates.
The third generation was predominantly marketed under the Chevrolet brand in North America as the Chevrolet Spark and in Australia and New Zealand as the Holden Barina Spark. The fourth generation was launched in 2015, known as the Holden Spark in Australia and New Zealand. It also serves as the basis for the Opel Karl in Europe, Vauxhall Viva in the UK, and VinFast Fadil in Vietnam, the latter being manufactured under license.
A limited-production all-electric version, the Chevrolet Spark EV, was released in the U.S. in selected markets in California and Oregon in June 2013. The Spark EV was the first all-electric passenger car marketed by General Motors since the EV1 was discontinued in 1999, and also the first offered for retail sale by GM (the EV1 was available only on lease).
In the South Korean market, the Spark complies with South Korean "light car" (Korean: 경차, romanized: Gyeongcha) regulations, which regulate overall vehicle dimensions and engine capacity with tax and parking fee benefits.
Production of the Spark at the Changwon, South Korea assembly plant ended in 2022. The plant would instead produce the second-generation Trax.

A great little car and it's so much fun to drive!
-
I purchased my car back in 2014 with only 11 miles on it. Since then, I have driven it for about 65 to 66,000 miles, mostly in town. Despite some minor bumps, the car is in great condition and has never been in any major accidents. The interior is well-maintained and has never been exposed to smoke. The air conditioning and heating work perfectly, although a couple of the automatic door locks need fixing. The only thing that needs replacing are the tires. Overall, the car has been a reliable companion and has never given me any trouble. Although I am retired and no longer need it, I would definitely consider buying another one if the need arises.
-
This little Chevy has more interior space than you might expect, and the four doors make it easy to get into and out of the back seats. You'll be pleased with the mileage you get. The engine is powerful enough to scoot when you need to, and the Chevy MyLink is easy to use. You'll be surprised at all the extras that come with the car, including heated seats, a back windshield wiper, and a nice sound system.
-
I hope you're doing well! I really like the car, but I haven't received my $200 gas card yet.
-
Hi there! I recently came across this amazing small car that I was looking for to commute to work. Although I have owned a few mini autos before, this one is by far the most enjoyable to drive. Despite having a CVT, which was replaced 30k ago according to CarFax, I have grown accustomed to the way it shifts and it gives me a great mileage of around 38mpg in the city. It may not be perfect, but it does its job well, albeit not very quickly. It's incredibly easy to park, get in and out of, and the AC works like a charm. Would I consider buying another one? Absolutely! I would even upgrade to the 2lt from the 1lt.

After owning it for a year and only paying $4600 after my trade-in, I can confidently say that my car is my favorite to drive. However, recently the transmission went out and it cost me a total of $3200. Unfortunately, my good deal of $2500 trade-in was no longer applicable. This was the first time I had to replace a transmission and it was quite a daunting experience. It was even scarier to find out that there was only one used transmission available in the whole United States. While I don't believe it was Chevy's fault, the car dealer was aware of the issue.
Carmine Kshlerin 2024-06-22
I had a negative experience with Chevy when my Spark's transmission failed and got repossessed after I stopped making payments. Despite Chevy sending a recall for the transmission 5 months later, I am hesitant to purchase any new Chevy vehicles. Unfortunately, my transmission has now failed, which seems to be a common issue with the 2014 Chevy Sparks. Although I am disappointed that Chevy has not taken responsibility for the issue, I understand that my warranty has ended. Overall, my experience with Chevy has been less than satisfactory.
Henderson D'Amore 2024-04-22
This car is not recommended for purchase as it requires frequent and expensive repairs. The transmission has failed twice, which is a major concern. Based on my experience, I am disappointed with this car and will not be purchasing from CHEVY again.
Jessie Collins 2024-04-21
I purchased my 2014 Spark brand new on Black Friday, November 29, 2013. Although I had to take it in for a tire pressure issue just one week later on Thursday, December 5, 2013, I was confident that the issue would be resolved quickly. Despite some minor setbacks, including a few recalls and a couple of repairs, I have been pleased with my purchase overall. While I have experienced some issues with the tire pressure light, I am confident that the dealership will be able to resolve the issue in due course. Although I have had some minor issues with my Spark, I am confident that it will continue to serve me well for many years to come.

We purchased this car brand new, but unfortunately, we have experienced some issues with it. The fuel mileage has not been as advertised, and the seats are not very comfortable. Additionally, we have had some trouble with the traction control and check engine lights coming on, and despite taking it to the garage, the issue has not been fully resolved. However, we are hopeful that the upcoming visit to the shop will help address these problems.
