2012 Volkswagen Cc problems
The Volkswagen CC, initially sold as the Volkswagen Passat CC, is a car built by German marque Volkswagen from 2008 to 2016. It is a variant of the Volkswagen Passat that trades headroom and cargo space for a coupé-like profile and sweeping roofline. The CC debuted in January 2008, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and was discontinued after the 2017 model year.
Volkswagen said the name CC stands for Comfort Coupe, recognizing its combination of a coupe-like profile with four rather than two doors. While based on the Passat, and sharing its wheelbase, the CC is 27 mm (1.06 inches) longer, 50 mm (1.97 inches) lower, and 36 mm (1.42 inches) wider than the Passat.
While the CC has been replaced by the Arteon in most markets, the latter vehicle retains the CC nameplate in China.

It is happening more and more often. Just went to Doctor appt Friday and it happened five (5) times going to and from Doctor (14 mile round trip). I see Dealers are telling people it is a Clock Spring and they are charing up to $ 6,800. to repair. My car only has 56,000. miles on it !!!

- Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles to make them fully compliant or Volkswagen will repurchase them if necessary, free of charge. The recall began November 29, 2018. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298.

This contamination may tear the cable and result in a loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag.
- Consequence: A loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag will prevent the air bag from deploying in the event of a vehicle crash, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will install a protective cover over the steering wheel clock spring if the air bag light is off. If the airbag light is on and the steering wheel clock spring requires replacement, dealers will install a new steering wheel clock spring. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2016. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-822-8987.

THE FACTORY INSTALLED WHEELS AND TIRES WERE REPLACED AT THE PORT WITH ACCESSORY WHEELS AND TIRES THAT WERE NOT EQUIPPED WITH THE PROPER TPMS SENSORS.
- Consequence: WITH THE INCORRECT TPMS SENSORS, DRIVERS WILL RECEIVE A CONSTANT WARNING FROM THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM. THE SYSTEM ALERTS THE DRIVER BUT, DUE TO INCORRECT TPMS SENSORS, THE SYSTEM CANNOT DETERMINE IF THE VEHICLE TIRES ARE PROPERLY INFLATED. THIS INCREASES THE RISK THAT THE VEHICLE WILL BE DRIVEN WITH ONE OR MORE UNDERINFLATED TIRES, INCREASING THE RISK OF A TIRE FAILURE THAT MAY LEAD TO A CRASH.
- Remedy: VOLKSWAGEN WILL REPLACE THE TPMS SENSORS WITH THE PROPER SENSORS TO MAKE THE TPMS SYSTEM OF THE VEHICLES COMPLIANT WITH FMVSS 138. AS OF JUNE 1, 2011, VOLKSWAGEN HAS CONTACTED ALL AFFECTED CUSTOMERS TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIRS FREE OF CHARGE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VOLKSWAGEN AT 1-800-822-8987.

Overall, I love this car. However, when driving it, you become aware of everything the car is doing. In my opinion, good engineering means the car should feel natural and respond to your inputs the way you intend. Unfortunately, this car does not deliver in this respect. On the highway, this car shines as a comfortable grand touring sedan...uh...coupe. In the city, it is almost the opposite.
-
I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your car! It sounds like you made a great choice. I also considered the Kia Optima and Hyundai Sonata, but it seems like the CC is a bit more unique on the road. It's great to hear that you find the seats comfortable and that there's enough room for taller passengers. I can imagine that the lower ground clearance might make getting in and out of the car a bit more challenging, but it's good to hear that you're still happy with the car's performance. And 22.5-23.0 MPG is pretty impressive for suburban driving! Overall, it sounds like you're having a positive experience with your CC. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
-
What type of car is that? I've been asked that question so many times that it's become the norm. The CC is a show stopper, with a beautiful exterior and luxurious interior. It's packed with features like DVD navigation that even plays movies, climatronic ventilation, heated front power seats, ambient lighting, and is fuel efficient. The LUX Plus trim with two-tone interior is absolutely gorgeous, with finely knitted front and rear bucket seats. The interior screams luxury all the way. Overall, the 2012 VW Passat CC is one beautiful beast.

After 90k, my car was great, but it was time to let it go when the service technician told me that the crankshaft needed a $5 gasket, which would have cost $1500 due to the need to remove the transmission. I put on 90k in 4 years, and with maintenance and repairs, it wasn't too bad.

I'm so glad to hear that you love this car! It sounds like you've had some great experiences with Volkswagen in the past. The 2012 CC definitely has a luxurious feel to it, and it's great to hear that the build quality has been impressive so far.

In my experience, I have spent over $8000 on repairs during the 3 years of ownership. Unfortunately, the vehicle has had some persistent issues with strange noises and moderate speed, which has resulted in additional expenses. I even had to purchase a turbo before the vehicle reached 100k miles, despite driving it lightly. However, I hope this information helps you make an informed decision.

After cosigning and financing, paying $25,000, at 60,000 miles transmission failed; changes 3 ? gears but not change a 6 ? gears. Now I have no car to drive to work ! How to get VW corporate to fix transmission? Can't afford to repair. How to sell? Pristine condition. How to ensure VW top management - VPs Presidents, are aware of poor, failing vehicles; does VW accept and fix these lemon VWs with failing transmissiolns;

I really like the car's slick exterior design--it looks very cool. The interior is nice too, although it may be a bit tight for 5 people since it's a coupe. However, it's a great car for someone who needs a backseat and 4 doors but won't use it often. As for reliability, I'm not entirely sure. Within the first few hundred miles, the engine started to knock and a screw fell out of the door after hitting a speed bump. However, since I'm leasing and have all service covered, I'm not too worried about it. Just something to keep in mind.

The CC is a beautiful car, no doubt about it. However, I have been experiencing a rough ride since taking my car home 2 months ago. I cringe when I pass over a manhole cover in the city, or god forbid a pothole, it can be quite uncomfortable. On the bright side, the car gets decent gas mileage, the interior is impressive, and the standard wheels are just so attractive. I just wish they would have made the ride quieter and smoother for city driving. The acceleration takes some getting used to, but once you learn to apply the right pressure, it's a breeze to get to 45 MPH quickly (say, for merging).

I have invested a significant amount of money into repairing my car since purchasing it two years ago, including the cost of a new transmission. Despite these challenges, the car has now reached 100,000 miles. I am disappointed with the performance of this vehicle and will not consider purchasing a VW in the future.
