2018 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid problems
The Chrysler Pacifica is a minivan produced by the Chrysler division of Stellantis. It is unrelated to the discontinued crossover and concept vehicles by the same name and replaced the Chrysler Town & Country for the 2017 model year. It is positioned as the higher-end Chrysler minivan, above the Dodge Grand Caravan until 2020 and above the Chrysler Voyager (rebadged as the Chrysler Grand Caravan in Canada) since 2020.
The minivan is produced with two powertrains, a 3.6 L gasoline-powered engine and a plug-in hybrid. The plug-in hybrid version has a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery that can propel the car up to 33 mi (53 km) on electric power alone. The gasoline-only version of the Pacifica minivan went on sale in mid-2016, while the plug-in hybrid version became available in early 2017.

In June 2013, it was reported that Chrysler was preparing to produce a new generation of its Town & Country minivan at the Windsor Assembly Plant, with production set to begin in 2015 and a release for the 2017 model year. An industry analyst reported that the new version would possibly be a crossover utility vehicle in the vein of the Pacifica.
In 2015, FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne announced that it would invest $2 billion in developing a new minivan, and overhauling the Windsor Assembly Plant to facilitate its production. A company issued plan of future vehicles revealed that a new Town & Country would begin production in February 2016 for the 2017 model year, and that the final-generation Dodge Grand Caravan would be maintained in parallel with the new Town & Country as a lower-cost option during the 2017 model year, after which it will be discontinued. Marchionne has been against "duplicate investments" in product development—a strategy reflected by his reduction of badge-engineering between FCA US's domestic marques.
On November 3, 2015, FCA filed to have its trademark registration on the Pacifica brand renewed; FCA's Head of Passenger Car Brands Timothy Kuniskis denied that this was related to any new products and that it was standard industry practice to continue renewing its trademarks because "you don't want to lose names. Establishing new names is expensive."

- Consequence: A high resistance electrical connection may result in the connection overheating, increasing the risk of a fire with the vehicle on or off.
- Remedy: FCA will conduct a voluntary safety recall on affected vehicles to increase the torque and install a waterproof gasket to the 12v isolator post, the post will also be inspected for signs of contamination. In the event the post is compromised, the 12v isolator post and associated cables will be replaced. Until the final remedy is available, customers should bring their vehicles to dealers for an interim inspection of this joint. The recall remedy is currently under development. FCA US LLC will notify owners, and dealers will perform an interim inspection of this joint. If the inspection indicates the joint is compromised, owners will receive a loaner vehicle, until a final remedy is developed. Interim notifications are expected to begin around June 22, 2020. The recall began July 30, 2020. Owners may contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US LLC's number for this recall is W46. Note: Consumers are advised to exercise the following precautions until the vehicle has the final repair completed: do not park these vehicles inside of buildings or structures, or near other vehicles. It's so great that I was able to drive over 16000 miles on just 4 tanks of gas! Although the car's computer doesn't show it, I know exactly how little gas I've purchased. Most of my trips are around 30 miles of local travel. I do wish it had a bit more plug-in power since the battery only lasts for a limited range. Unfortunately, the original tires aren't very good in the snow, but I haven't had a chance to install winter tires yet. One thing to note is that the van is a bit low to the ground and can scrape the plastic bumper when entering certain driveways.

The Pacifica van is a great vehicle, but I have not been able to achieve the promised 30+ miles on a full charge. Despite my best efforts, including driving at efficient speeds and avoiding the use of A/C, heat, and radio, I have only been able to average about 20-25 miles. I am using a level 2 charger, which works well, but unfortunately stops at 80% charging and there is no way to force charge the van to 100%. While the van's LCD panel and light indicator show 100% charge, the performance range is definitely in the low 20 miles. I plan to bring it to the dealer for further inspection. Overall, I am confident that the Pacifica is a great choice for a van, but I have experienced some issues with the battery range that I hope can be resolved.

I recently purchased a 2018 Pacifica Limited and have been thoroughly impressed with its electric and hybrid acceleration. The electric torque provides a quick and smooth acceleration, making it feel like I'm not even driving a large van. In hybrid mode, there may be a slight lag in torque initially, but it quickly smooths out and performs well. I have yet to check the fuel estimate on hybrid mode, but so far I am getting 33 miles per full charge of battery and switched to gas. The safety features are also top-notch, with the lane assist making it easy to stay within the lane and the camera and park sensors making parking and maneuvering in tight spaces a breeze. I even had the active braking system save me from a potential collision on a busy highway. The only minor inconvenience I have encountered is that the side view mirrors do not have electronic folding options, but this is a small issue compared to the overall quality of the vehicle. Overall, the Pacifica Limited is a great choice for my daily commute of 38 miles.

Dodge has really hit the mark with this one! The latest safety and electronic gadgets are all included, and the interior has a classy feel that makes it seem like a much more expensive car. The ride is smooth and quiet, and after four months of use, we've only had to fill up at the gas station once. Even better, we've been able to run all of our errands on pure electric power in our mid-sized city, and the car handles beautifully in electric mode. While it may come at a premium price, this van is an excellent investment with mind-boggling gas mileage. Overall, we couldn't be happier with our purchase!

Chrysler advertises a towing capability of 3600lb, but it's important to note that adding a towing package will void the power train warranty. Additionally, the owners manual, which is not provided until after purchasing the vehicle, clearly states that the vehicle is not permitted to tow. It's disappointing that Chrysler would mislead customers in this way. If you're looking for a trustworthy car manufacturer, consider Honda.

In late 2018, we purchased a van to take advantage of the tax incentive. Unfortunately, the van we received was an early 2018 build and had several defects. Despite these issues, we were able to work with the dealer to address them. While there were some challenges along the way, we are pleased with the van's performance and fuel efficiency. Overall, we are confident in our decision to purchase this van and look forward to using it for years to come.

I'm so excited to have made the switch to an electric plug-in vehicle! Although I was a bit hesitant to purchase the Pacifica hybrid, given the recent recall, I decided to take a chance and go for it. Unfortunately, I've experienced a few issues since owning it, including odd color rendition on the rearview camera and a message to enter a security code to unlock the radio. I even had to tow it to the dealer when it wouldn't start after charging all night. Despite these setbacks, my kids absolutely love the seats and comfort, and they're always using the interactive screens to watch movies and YouTube. Overall, I'm still happy with my purchase and hopeful that any remaining issues will be resolved soon.

I really wanted to love this vehicle, but unfortunately, in the last 4 years and 55k miles, we have had quite a few recalls and warranty repairs. This has made me lose some confidence in the vehicle. Additionally, the dealership is always very busy, so even a scheduled repair or recall can be a bit of a hassle. However, I will say that the ride is incredibly smooth and the van is very comfortable. Despite the issues we've had, I still think it's a decent vehicle. We did have to replace a few parts, such as the vent shutter and control arms, and we had to repair the steering column. We also had to replace one of the DVD players and the battery holder for the earphones. While this may seem like a lot, it's important to note that we had the van for 4 years and it did have a few recalls. Overall, I would say that this van is still a good option, but it's important to be aware of the potential issues. I'm giving it 2.5 stars because of the recalls and repairs, but I still think it's a comfortable and enjoyable ride.

I was thrilled to join the plug-in hybrid world with my beautiful blue minivan. The gas mileage is fantastic when it works, and it's fully loaded with all the latest safety features, including parking assist for parallel and perpendicular parking. Unfortunately, the car's electric system has failed three times, with the last time being only two months ago. Each time, it took over six weeks to figure out what was wrong. I'm initiating an inquiry into the lemon law/buy back, as it's frustrating that a car with only 31000 miles spends so much time broken. However, I'm relieved to report that the third failure was due to the regular battery, not the EV system, and the repair only took one business day. If the returned vehicle works, I won't be initiating a buy back/lemon law for this event, as normal batteries can fail. It's still a shame that the electrical system completely shuts down, making it impossible to even get the car into neutral to be towed. Chrysler has work to do on future iterations, but I'm less disappointed and not ready to give up on it anymore.
