2001 Chrysler Concorde problems
The Chrysler Concorde is a full-size car that was produced by Chrysler from 1992 to 2004. It assumed the C-body Chrysler New Yorker Salon's position as the entry-level full-size sedan in the Chrysler brand lineup. One of Chrysler's three original Chrysler LH platform models, it has a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout.
The Concorde was related to the Chrysler/Dodge Intrepid, Eagle Vision, Chrysler 300M, Chrysler LHS, and the eleventh and final generation Chrysler New Yorker.
It was on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1993 and 1994.

Common 2001 Chrysler Concorde problems
The 2001 Chrysler Concorde has been reported to have several common problems, mostly related to the engine and air conditioning system.
One of the most significant issues is the oil sludge problem in the 2.7L DaimlerChrysler engine, which is highly susceptible to this issue. Oil sludge is a sticky, tar-like substance that coats the inside of the engine, retaining heat and causing severe strain on the mechanical parts. This can lead to engine failure, as evidenced by the 24 complaints of engine failure due to oil sludge in the 2001 Concorde.
Another common problem with the 2001 Chrysler Concorde is the leaking "quick-connect" A/C line O-ring seals and leaking evaporator cores, which can cause the air conditioning system to fail. This is a significant issue, especially in hot climates where air conditioning is essential.
The torque converter clutches in the Chrysler Concorde have also been reported to have a high failure rate, particularly in high-temperature environments. This can lead to transmission problems, which can be expensive to repair.
In addition to these issues, the 2001 Chrysler Concorde has also been reported to have problems with the automatic climate controls and body control module, which can be electrical in nature.
Overall, the 2001 Chrysler Concorde has several common problems, mostly related to the engine and air conditioning system. These issues can be expensive to repair and can impact the reliability of the vehicle. It is essential to maintain the vehicle properly, including regular oil changes, transmission fluid changes, and brake fluid flushes, to minimize the risk of these problems occurring.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2008-06-01
- VIN: 2C3HD46R91H
- Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
- Summary: I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM A DEALER AFTER A WHILE THE MOTOR FAILED I SPENT 2600. I HAD IT REPLACED 6MO LATER THE MOTOR FAILED IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY (THE MOTOR) BUT I HAD TO PAY $800.00 FOR LABOR, THEN NOT EVEN 8MO LATER THAT MOTOR FAILED. I HAVE PUT SO MUCH MONEY IN THIS CAR WE HAVE ONLY DRIVEN IT FOR MAYBE A YEAR. I'M STILL PAYING ON THE CAR IT WON'T BE PAID OF UNTIL NOV 2011 ALL TOGETHER I WILL HAVE PAID OVER 10,000 FOR A CAR AND ONLY DROVE IT FOR 1 YEAR. CONSIDERING THE MOST ME AND MY WIFE HAVE MADE IN A YEAR WAS 35,000 WE SPENT ALMOST A THIRD OF A YEAR WORKING HARD FOR A CAR THAT WE WOULD ONLY GET TO DRIVE FOR 1 FLIPPIN YEAR. SAD, SAD, SAD. I HAVE HAD MANY CARS IN THE 10 YEARS I'VE BEEN DRIVING AND I HAVE NEVER HAD ONE, NOT ONE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. AND TO ADD TO THAT I'VE NEVER HAD A CAR THAT WASN'T AT LEAST 5 YRS OLD WITH AT LEAST 60,000 MI. ON IT AS A MATTER OF FACT ALL BUT THE CAR I'M WRITING ABOUT AND THE CAR MY WIFE DRIVES NOW HAD OVER 110,000 WHEN I GOT THEM. SO IS THIS MY FAULT? AM I THE UNLUCKIEST GUY IN THE WORLD? I DON'T THINK SO I'VE HEARD A LOT OF PEOPLE SINGING THIS SAME TUNE ABOUT THE 2.7 MOTORS, SO MY QUESTION WHY HAS NOTHING BEEN DONE ABOUT THESE ISSUES, WHY HAS THIS MOTOR NOT BEEN COMPLETELY RECALLED? I REALIZE THERE'S A LOT OF MONEY AT STAKE HERE, BUT IF I HAD A COMPANY AND PRODUCED A PRODUCT THAT WAS PRONE TO FAIL, OR BREAK, IT WOULD BE RECALLED NO MATTER WHAT, EVEN IF IT WAS THE END OF MY CO THAT WOULD HAPPEN. SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM, WHY ISN'T CHRYSLER BEING HELD RESPONSIBLE? *TR

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2007-10-15
- Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
- Summary: I HAD A 2001 CHRYSLER CONCORDE WITH A 2.7L ENGINE. I SERVICED IT EVERY 3,000 MILES AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. THEN ONE DAY, AT 95,000 MILES, I WAS DRIVING IT AND THE THERMOSTAT SHOT TO OVERHEATING. I PULLED OVER, HAD A SERVICE STATION LOOK AT IT, AND THEY SAID IT WAS SOMETHING A DEALER NEEDED TO LOOK AT. I HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALER AND THEY SAID THE 'ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED, THAT COOLANT AND OIL MIXED AND GOT SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE AND THE ENGINE WAS SHOT.' AT 95,000 MILES IT WOULD COST ME MORE TO FIX THEN THE CAR WAS WORTH, SO I HAD TO BUY A NEW CAR. SOMEONE TOLD ME THERE WERE THOUSANDS OF THIS EXACT PROBLEM WITH THIS CHRYSLER ENGINE AND CHRYSLER TOLD ME THERE WAS NO RECALL AND NOTHING I COULD DO. I SEARCHED THE WEB AND FOUND A LOT OF ARTICLES ABOUT HOW BIG A PROBLEM THIS IS AND HOW MANY CARS IT HAS AFFECTED, AND SUGGESTED OWNERS REPORT THIS TO YOU. SOMEONE NEEDS TO MAKE CHRYSLER DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. WHILE IN MY CASE IT DIDN'T RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT (IT ALMOST DID WHEN MY CAR DIED ON THE ROAD), AND THE CAR DIDN'T CATCH ON FIRE, DO PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE OR CARS CATCH ON FIRE BEFORE CHRYSLER IS MADE TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR AN OBVIOUS ENGINE FLAW? I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP OR GUIDANCE YOU CAN GIVE ON WHAT RECOURSE I HAVE AND SHOULD PURSUE. BOB BLADEL ASHBURN, VA *TR

I bought my 2000 Chrysler Concorde over 2 years ago and it's my baby. It has been 100% reliable. As most reviews have reflected, some years are bad with leaks and other issues. However, the 2000 model was the year that they fixed the transmission and lower motor leaks, and seemingly resolved the seizing motor issue.
-
The 3.2 liter models were excellent compared to other offerings at the time. If you're not a fan of the exterior design, you can easily add a spoiler and transform the look. This car has been incredibly reliable and has never let me down. I have kept up with regular maintenance since I received it at 114,000 miles, and the previous owner did the same. The only major issues I've encountered are the ABS pump failing (which wasn't a huge deal) and my frame being warped when I drove over an unmarked curb, causing a clunk that I can't seem to eliminate despite installing all new front suspension. Of course, I can't blame Chrysler for a business not marking their curbs. Overall, it's a fantastic car. I've met owners with 250K on their daily drivers, so I'm confident this one will last!
-
My wife and I had a great time shopping for her new car. Although she wasn't sure what she wanted, we ended up choosing a big Chrysler, which surprised me since she's only 30! She thought my Taurus was too big, but this car has been fantastic. The ride is smooth and it has plenty of power for a V6 in a big car. Her car has every feature imaginable, which has completely changed my view of the Chrysler product. In fact, I'm now considering getting one for myself! We were lucky enough to buy it at the end of the year and got thousands off the sticker price, even below invoice.
-
This car fits in well with the many similar models available. The seats, although trimmed with 'leather', could benefit from a bit more color. I did have some concerns, however. The paint on the lower plastic parts wore off and had to be repainted at only 20,000 miles. Unfortunately, the dealership did not provide the level of service I expected. I hope that Mercedes can help Chrysler improve their quality standards and prevent it from affecting Mercedes. Additionally, the dealership where I purchased the car scratched it from bumper to bumper during their 'prepping' process. It was a learning experience for me.
-
I have owned this vehicle for four years and I am amazed at how little maintenance it requires. The engine still purrs like the day it was made, even after 68,000 miles, and it has required no repairs. The ride is incredibly smooth and there are plenty of places to put coffee, with two cup holders in front and two in the back. The seats are comfortable and there is plenty of legroom for all passengers. I would highly recommend this car to anyone looking for a big sedan. It has lots of interior space, a huge trunk, and is extremely reliable. Additionally, the mileage is pretty good; I average 26 MPG on my daily commutes.

Hi there! I recently purchased a pre-owned 2001 Chrysler Concorde LXi with a 3.2 L V6 engine. Although there have been some issues with the car, I wanted to share my experience. The previous owner was someone I knew and I can confirm that they took great care of the car. It had been regularly maintained by a local Chrysler dealership with 3,000 mile oil changes and had only 42K miles at the time of my purchase. Unfortunately, I did experience some problems with the transmission around 50,000 miles and now at 75K, there has been major engine failure. Despite these issues, I still appreciate the car for what it is. I do wish that Chrysler would address some of the common problems with this model, such as the weak trunk supports that cause the trunk to fall on your head when retrieving items. Overall, while this may be my first and last Chrysler, I am grateful for the experience and the lessons learned.

The Chrysler 2.7 liter engine has a history of problems, as evidenced by my personal experience with the engine in my vehicle. Despite performing well for several years, at 98,000 miles the engine began making a noise and the oil light came on. Diagnostic tests confirmed that the engine had been destroyed by oil sludge. Given the cost of replacing the engine, I made the decision to replace the car entirely. It is my professional opinion that anyone considering purchasing a vehicle with this engine should conduct a thorough inspection of the engine beforehand.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with a car I purchased used, which had a 2.7 liter engine. I was looking for a roomy and fuel-efficient full-sized family vehicle, and this one seemed like a great fit. Unfortunately, less than a year after purchasing it with 65,000 miles on it, I ran into some issues. The internal water pump failed and flooded the engine with coolant, and there was also a loose exhaust valve guide that caused some damage. The repairs ended up costing me $2,481, which was definitely not what I was expecting. After doing some research, I found out that the 2.7 liter engine has a reputation for premature and catastrophic failures, so I wanted to warn others to stay away from it. Thanks for listening!

I purchased a 2000 Chrysler Concord LXI about 4 years ago. It looked great and had a lot of luxurious features which convinced me to buy it. It was priced at $3000 and had 118000 miles, which is not bad for a 7-year-old car. However, about two weeks later, I walked out of my house to find transmission fluid covering my driveway. It cost me $1600 to fix, and since then, I have had nothing but troubles and heartache from it. The car overheated all the time, even though I fixed the thermostat, water pump, radiator, and fans in it. When I took it to the Chrysler dealership, they were baffled. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, and I learned not to go for looks only, but also for performance.

I saved for months to buy this car and was initially impressed with its spacious back seat and large trunk. However, I soon encountered a series of issues, including a malfunctioning A/C, power windows, and rubber seals around the doors. Additionally, the 2.7 engine began to experience a ticking sound, which I later discovered was due to a well-known issue with engine sludge. As a result, the car's performance and horsepower were severely impacted. I was disappointed with the reliability of this American car and it is unfortunate that I may need to consider purchasing a foreign car in the future.
