2023 Chevrolet Equinox problems
The Chevrolet Equinox is a crossover SUV introduced by Chevrolet in 2004 for the 2005 model year. It was intended to be a replacement for the North American Chevrolet Tracker and Chevrolet S-10 Blazer. The third-generation Equinox also replaced the first-generation Chevrolet Captiva.
An all-electric battery-powered, or BEV version called the Equinox EV was introduced in 2022 with sales starting in 2023 for the 2024 model year. It adopts a separate design and underpinnings from the internal combustion engine powered Equinox.
First generation (2005)
The Chevrolet Equinox was introduced in 2004 at the 2003 North American International Auto Show for the 2005 model year.
The Pontiac Torrent was introduced in 2005 at the 2005 Los Angeles Auto Show for the 2006 model year.
Riding on the GM Theta platform, the unibody is mechanically similar to the Saturn Vue and the Suzuki XL7. However, the Equinox and the Torrent are larger than the Vue, riding on a 112.5 in (2,858 mm) wheelbase, 5.9 in (150 mm) longer than the Vue. Front-wheel drive is standard, with optional all-wheel drive. They are not designed for off-roading unlike the truck-based Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet TrailBlazer.
For the 2006 model year, GM updated the Equinox for the first time, adding GM badges on the front doors, as well as recoloring the dashboard panel from grey to black. For 2007, the instrument cluster got a redesign with a trip computer display, replacing the Saturn-sourced unit.
The first-generation Equinox and Torrent were produced exclusively at the CAMI Automotive GM/Suzuki joint venture plant in Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada. The 3.4 L LNJ V6 engine is made in China (by Shanghai GM), while the Aisin AF33 transmission is made in Japan. Starting with the 2008 model year, the Equinox Sport and Pontiac GXP were available with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that was made in the United States.
Production ended in May 2009.
The Chevrolet Equinox was not sold in Mexico during the 2009 model year.

I was left stuck on the road waiting on a tow truck to take my vehicle back to the dealership that worked on it previously after contacting Chevy it was determined my fuel system failed and the part needed us on back order.

May 2024 while reversing and then putting the vehicle in drive, the car begin to lose power and a message appeared saying switch to neutral. After parking and turning the car off, then turning it back on, it hardly wanted to turn on and the message appeared again to put the car in neutral.

BTW I was in the inside lane of a busy four lane highway when this happened and speed reduced to about 5 miles per hour. People love their horns when you try to get in outside lane in heavy traffic.

- Summary: Traveling 75 mph on a 3-lane highway when the car jerked (as if it was downshifted), started to rattle, and then ultimately a CE came on with the "Engine Power Reduced" warning on the dash. After a few close calls trying to merge over to the breakdown lane, I was able to rest safely and call for a tow. Unable to turn the car over after a few attempts, the car finally started back up after 5 seconds of cranking. Tow to certified Dealer where they confirmed 4 codes were being presented by the car. The codes are: P0089 - fuel pressure regulator performance P00C6 - fuel rail pressure low during engine cranking P228C - fuel pressure regulator 1 low pressure P0171 - fuel trim system lean The Dealer was unable to replicate the issue and is unable to fix or repair any part. Clearly, there is an issue with the Fuel Pump in these '23 Equinox's - just like the past model year!

- Summary: Fuel pump failed to supply engine with fuel, first started November 9, the vehicle was scheduled for regular maintenance on November 13, 2023 where I addressed the vehicle has been jerking and stalling. Service advisor saw a problem but Rick hendrick service department was unable to find what was wrong. On November 15th 2023 I reported ongoing issue and scheduled to return the vehicle for November 16, 2023, as I was driving to the dealership my car started stalling as I was going around a semi truck and a on coming car almost hit my car, Engine Light says Engine power reduced came on and I had to slowly drive the car in. Later the following day I was told my vehicle has a defective fuel pump. Vehicle has been at the dealership more than 15 days with no ETA of repair. General Motors has been notified and working to resolve again with no ETA. From what I was told this is not the only vehicle that has a defective fuel pump.

- Summary: I intended to pull the vehicle behind my RV using a tow dolly. I loaded the vehicle on the tow dolly per the owner’s manual and left the key fob in my RV. After about 15 mins, we began our trip and the vehicle pulled behind without issue. About 10 miles down the road, I stopped to check the securement straps to make sure they were still tight and I also needed to check the steering strap to make sure it was still tight as well. After doing so, we proceeded down the road for a very short distance (approx 100 feet or so) when we noticed smoke behind us. We immediately pulled over and observed that the rear tires were locked up by the emergency brake setting on the vehicle. We tried several times to get the vehicle to release the emergency brakes, only to have the emergency brake reset on its own after pulling the vehicle forward only a couple of feet. We ended up taking the vehicle off the dolly only to discover that the two rear tires had already been ruined by flat spots on them. Come to find later, by reading on the vehicle forums of our particular year and model, that others were experiencing the same issue. It was discovered through reading the forums the vehicles electronics need to go to sleep (approx 10-15 minutes) before you can safely tow the vehicle. This makes sense to me now, because we had no issue when we first started on our trip. The issue didn’t occur until we had to get into the vehicle using the key fob. My main concern here is that this should be included in the owner’s manual as part of the steps or at least a cautionary to tow on a dolly. This is definitely a safety issue, as the tires could have blown or started a fire if I continued down the road without notice.As it stands, I will be required to purchase two new tires to replace the rear tires that only had 2,000 miles on them. I made contact with Chevrolet customer service on 11/13/2023 to advise them of the issue and they should consider including more detail in the owner’s manual.

The Chevy Equinox is a pleasure to drive. The seat fits me perfectly and is easily adjustable with the power controls. The armrest is at the perfect height for comfort. This SUV has ample ground clearance for my gravel driveway. With over 30mpg on the highway, the gas mileage is impressive. The grey color is low maintenance compared to my previous black vehicle. The Chevy app is a great feature that keeps me informed about necessary maintenance, including oil changes. Additionally, Apple play allows me to use my WAZE app on my phone with ease. Overall, this car is a great fit for my family.

Everything is great, especially the air-cooled seats, foot-operated tailgate, and push-button start. The wireless phone charger is also very convenient.

This is our third Equinox. We have been very happy with our prior two and we are pleased to say that this vehicle is even smoother and quieter than the 2018 model. The ride is incredibly smooth and my wife even thinks it looks larger, although it must be an illusion. We are extremely satisfied so far and would highly recommend it to anyone.

It sounds like you had a bit of a rough time with all the challenges of production delays, supply chain issues, and no inventory on hand. But I'm so glad to hear that it was worth it in the end and that you love your new lease!

I was really looking forward to driving this car with my boys and having a safe journey. Unfortunately, it has been a complete nightmare. Although the bells and whistles, reasonable gas mileage and affordable payment caught my attention, the car is just falling apart. From windows that won't stay up to car paneling that continually pops off on its own (which I'm told is a factory error), my frustration level is through the roof. I've also experienced a very strange heavy clicking that can be felt through the gas pedals, but since the Chevy mechanics don't experience it on their test drives, I'm told nothing is wrong. Now I'm experiencing blinker issues and issues with the air system. So, once again, the car is going back to the shop. There have also been strange jolts when accelerating or coming to a stop. I can't wait until our lease is up so that I can walk away from Chevy for good. Please be cautious with this year, make and model.

I recently received an Equinox LT as a fleet vehicle and I have some concerns about it. The interior design and technology seem a bit outdated for a 2023 model, and the 1.5L engine can feel underpowered at times, especially when coming off the Auto Stop feature. Additionally, the fuel economy could be better. As a mother of three, I am particularly concerned about the IIHS rating for rear seat occupant safety, which is not as high as I would like it to be. While there are three seatbelts in the back, there are only two headrests, which could potentially be a safety issue. Finally, I was disappointed to learn that the car is built in Mexico rather than providing jobs for Americans. However, there are still many good options to consider in this segment.

Although my Equinox has only 6500 miles on it, I have experienced several issues with it. The rear bumper was loose and had to be pushed back in, the driver's space is very tight, and the radio and climate control often freeze. Additionally, the transmission gets stuck in gears and the auto stop feature makes a clunking noise when it starts back up. Furthermore, the defrost does not effectively defrost all of my windows, which results in ice forming on the inside of the windows. Overall, I cannot recommend this vehicle.

Bought the 2022 in August 2022. It's a good looking ride, but the gas mileage is unimpressive. The little 4 cylinder motor is pretty gutless. Not impressed with the electronics either. Android Auto is unreliable at best. Google maps don't work unless you pay for OnStar. I feel pretty ripped off for what I paid.

I had the opportunity to test drive a 2022 Equinox on 02-10-2022. While I found the exterior design to be pleasing, I thought that the interior controls, cubbies, and buttons were mediocre. However, considering the price, I think they were not too bad. The engine power was a little low, but my main concern was the driver's seat. Although the idea is for the seat to wrap around you, being 5'7 myself, I found that the seat sides were pushing my shoulders forward a little, which would not be comfortable on a semi-long ride. Overall, I found this SUV to be worth the money, but the seat comfort could be improved.
