2022 Chevrolet Bolt euv problems
The Chevrolet Bolt EUV (short for "electric utility vehicle") is a battery electric subcompact crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors under the Chevrolet brand, presented on February 14, 2021.
As a larger version of the similarly named Chevrolet Bolt EV, the EUV shares its BEV2 platform and powertrain.
History
The Bolt EUV was introduced in February 2021, and released to the Mexican market on August 17, 2021. As the first EUVs were arriving at dealerships in August 2021, all vehicles were recalled to replace the traction battery; Bolt EV and EUV production was paused from November 2021 to April 2022, and fewer than 400 Bolts (both EV and EUV) were delivered before April.
It is the first Chevrolet vehicle to receive the hands-free Super Cruise driver-assistance package.
Unlike early versions of the Bolt EV, the battery for the Bolt EUV is manufactured in the United States at LG plants in Michigan.

Common 2022 Chevrolet Bolt euv problems
Based on the information provided in the sources, here are common problems reported by owners of the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV:
- Battery Fire Risk: The Bolt EV and Bolt EUV have faced serious recalls due to defective battery cells that pose a fire risk. General Motors has been working on a fix for this issue, involving the production of new battery modules to replace faulty ones. The ongoing recall is due to manufacturing defects in some battery cells that can lead to fires. GM has announced that LG's new manufacturing processes and quality assurance programs aim to provide better batteries, with replacement battery modules expected to start shipping to dealers soon.
- Charging Rate: Despite improvements and fixes, the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt still suffers from a poor charging rate of just 55 kW, which can be a concern for owners who frequently road trip. This slower charging rate compared to other EVs may be a drawback for those who rely on quick charging capabilities.
These issues highlight some of the common problems reported by owners of the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV. It's essential for potential buyers to be aware of these issues and consider them when making a decision about purchasing this vehicle.
Does 2022 Bolt have battery issues?
As you might imagine, affected Bolt owners are up in arms. GM initiated a recall in 2021 after a small number of Bolts high voltage batteries caught fire. The battery replacements were to take place on all pre-existing Bolts with the affected LG battery packs. Basically, every 2017-2022 Chevy Bolt.

Why are they discontinuing the Chevy Bolt?
GM needed the plant for other EVs
The Bolt and Bolt EUV are built at GM's Orion Assembly plant in Michigan. GM had already announced plans to retool that plant to ramp up production of the Chevy Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV pickups in 2024. That same consideration killed the car journalist-beloved Volt hybrid.

TIRES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-05-14
- VIN: 1G1FZ6S05N4
- Components: TIRES
- Summary: I installed four new Goodyear ElectricDrive 2 tires (P 215/50 R17) on my 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV on 05/08/2024 at Discount Tire in Round Rock, TX (Store #TXA 23). The tires were balanced as part of the installation. After six days of normal commuting, on 05/14/2024, the vehicle began experiencing significant vibrations at highway speeds 60 - 70+ mph. As a point of reference, the passenger side headrest was visibly moving back and forth due to the vibration. I took the tire back to Discount Tire and, after removing the tire from the wheel, they discovered that the SoundComfort noise reduction foam inside of the tire had come dislodged and was bunched up inside of the tire. The foam did not appear attached to the inside of the tire in any way. After the foam was removed and the tire remounted, the vibration was no longer present. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The noise reduction foam inside of the tire came loose inside the tire and caused the tire to become out of balance. The tire is currently mounted on the car but with the noise reduction foam removed. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Significant vibrations while operating the vehicle could distract the driver or under certain circumstances cause impair the driver's control of the vehicle especially at higher speeds. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, Discount Tire diagnosed the issue by attempting to balance all four wheels, discovering one was out of balance, and then proceeded to remove the tire from the vehicle. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warnings lamps or messages. A significant vibration at highway speeds was the only symptom and began being observed on 5/14/2024 (6 days after installation).

I recently had an unexpected issue with my 2013 VOLT charging system, which has 85,000 miles on it. I decided to buy a Bolt, especially considering the type of driving I do. As the Bolt is 10 years newer, it has many new features that I was not familiar with on the Volt, but are available on the Bolt Premiere and most current vehicles. These include a rearview mirror rear camera display, heated steering wheel, foot-pedal brake regen, Super Cruise, Driver Assist, and many others. One particular feature of the Bolt that I appreciate is that the seat is closer to the ground than the Volt, making it easier to exit, especially for senior women who are under 5'5

It's not a Tesla, but it's a strong competitor. It's small, super efficient, and one of the best purchases I've made.

Hi there! Could you please speak up a bit? Thanks!

I purchased my 2022 EUV around 10 months ago and have driven 6K miles without any issues. This is my third EV and by far my favourite. My previous 2012 Model S was too large and I didn't keep it long enough to experience the many Tesla issues that can occur. At the time of purchase, there weren't many options available. My Fiat 500E was fun but lacked the range I needed. The Bolt has been fantastic. Although I do have a couple of gas-powered cars, I use my 2019 Passport in the winter as I live in Minnesota. However, I have driven the Bolt on occasion in the winter when the roads were good. With a long commute of 100 miles in total, the Bolt is perfect for running errands and daily use. I use Cross Climate 2 tires on all my cars, which reduces the range by 20-30 miles, but it's worth it in bad weather. I charge the Bolt overnight at home. Although it's not the best road trip car due to its slow charging, it would make an excellent only vehicle for short city driving. It's quick and handles well, but the seats could be more comfortable. I highly recommend this car.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to let you know that even though I haven't received mine yet, I was able to test drive a 2022 model and I must say, I was quite impressed!

Although the Chevrolet Bolt has some drawbacks, it may not be the best option for everyone. The charging time can be quite long, especially when the battery is near 10%. The charging speed is also slower than some other EVs on the market. Additionally, the highway mileage differential is not mentioned, and it is recommended to drive at or below 65 mph to maximize the range. However, if you are looking for an EV that can travel up to 247 miles, the Chevrolet Bolt may be a good option for you. If you are considering purchasing an EV, it is important to do your research and find the one that best fits your needs.

The car takes around 10-12 hours to charge on a level 2 charger. Although the range was disappointing on the highway, I found the car fun to drive in the summer. It was still able to go about 200 miles before needing another 10+ hours of charging. While the range estimator can be unreliable, I learned this the hard way after losing power after 50 miles when the estimate had been 80 at the start of the trip. Ironically, the car ran out of juice at a gas station and had to be towed to a charger, which took another 10 hours to recharge. Unfortunately, winter driving is a complete disaster as the car is only able to make it 60 miles on a full charge in city driving. I don't trust it to go out of town and risk freezing to death. However, I do appreciate the safety features like collision warnings and blind spot cameras, although I imagine those are available on most other new cars.

We purchased our Chevy Bolt EVU in July 2022 and unfortunately have had to take it back to the dealership four times due to issues with the tires and a computer malfunction. Despite these setbacks, we remain confident in the quality of our vehicle and are working with the dealership to resolve these issues. While we have experienced some challenges, we believe in the value and reliability of our car and would recommend it to others.

This car is quite popular due to its low mileage. I personally used it for Uber and it has only been driven for 41000 km. However, I have noticed that the range has dropped to 80% (45 km) since I purchased it 7 months ago. Currently, I am only able to get 340 km for 80% charge, which is the charge range and not the driving range. It is worth noting that I do not recommend any EV from GM as they use the same batteries in different models.
